Yeah. But we could never show something like Jay's rant in a family friendly game!

    No dude! Not like THAT!

Hyper's "thing" is he's just stupidly oversized. And knows it. If he wasn't banging his head into things all the time, he'd probably enjoy it more.
  3. Awesome, you're the best aggro magnet man!

Thank you for all the groundwork you did on Tankers and the Soft-Cap.

You paved the way for the awesomeness that Hyperstrike eventually became.
  4. Hyperstrike

    I remember....

    I remember:

    Coming in during Issue 12.

Running around Atlas park, looking for higher level enemies because I'd outleveled most of them.

The first time I got my *** kicked in The Hollows.

Traversing The Hollows on sprint alone.

Getting pasted on my way to missions in The Hollows (endlessly).

Taking Fly because I didn't want to sprint through The Hollows anymore.

Getting the Oro portal for the first time before I turned 20 (had just finished the Faultline arc), wondering what it was useful for and yanking it out of my tray.

All the STFs with Impyre, Jen and their crew on Protector.

Tanking Lord Recluse in an STF (successfully) when I participated in a tankless one where a Kheld assured us he could tank-and-run LR. Not sure if that says something about my skills as a player or says I'm so hopeless I automatically default to tanking.

    All the anniversary events.

Trick or Treating my brains out.

    My first fire/rad superteam.

    Tanker Tuesdays.

    Lag Hill in the ITF.

    My first mothership raid.

"Sneaking" into the RWZ on a 20-something bubble defender when the zone was level locked and the mission teleporter was bugged.

My SG founder coming back after a couple months and freaking out because I was "already" 50.

    Rikti invasions.

Skiing at the Chalet and teleport chains for stupid-low times.

    My first Terra Volta trial.

My first, tentative missions after respec'ing for capped defense. PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWER!

God. So much stuff I'll remember.
  5. As always, click on the image to see the full-sized (1920x1080) version.

I still have Hyper's original costume on here. The only non-original parts are the aura (basically a light sparkle around the eyes) and the cape.

You can see most of his other costumes here. His "main" costume became #5 about 2 years ago.

I actually have a couple slots I never used because a lot of stuff just doesn't fit him right and clips horribly.
  6. Hell! I'm planning on hiding out in one of the layer cake rooms so the game can't end till they find me!
  7. All my tanks save for Hyperstrike will be logged on The Wall in Kings Row by the IP gate.

Hyper is electing to log at the tutorial spawn point.

My fire/rads will be logged off from The Hill in Talos.

Most of my villains are going to be off looking to backstab Recluse at the last second and take control.

I think my Bubble-fender will log off hovered above the Rikti Mothership.

She got her start right around the time the Valkyrie pack came out and the mission teleporter allowed you to bypass zone level restrictions. She crashed a mothership raid, and had people goggle-eyed over her presence.

Many of the rest. I don't know.
  8. I'm paid through like April of next year.

One person I know just re-upped three accounts for a full year.

Some of this will be part of a larger goal, such as to put together a cohesive story of how City of Heroes has affected people's lives. Some of it will be to rally our own troops and get the blood pumping to get people to want to do more. Some of it will be to send off to media and other personalities to try to drum up outside support. Some of it will be putting some gray matter to it and composing lists of data.

These people need to be at least moderately well-spoken (no "i need ur pics plz send to me @ xena-warrior-princess@gmail" kind of communication...) and have some time on their hands and patience to really exercise your search-fu, dig in and find stuff we can use.

If you're interested, drop me an e-mail at tonyv@cohtitan.com and I'll add you to a list of potential coordinators to assign a task to. In the meantime, I'll be putting together my own list.

    Count me in Tony.

Yeah. I'll be picking up something cheap like Bejeweled or something (spatial brain teasers like that give my idle hands something to do instead of strangling the phone when stupid customers call up with stupid complaints while I'm trying to get my CoH on).
  11. Matt,

Thanks for all the hard work, blood, sweat and tears you've put into the game over the years. It's hell of a legacy. Look again at the user list here. 178,000+ people.

    Here.

    In your playground.

And tens of thousands of them here for YEARS ON END!

I came into this game expecting to fluff it off after a month. This was just after the drop of Issue 12.

Four years later, I'm being driven from the game, kicking and screaming by your publisher.

While my wallet has some rather rude, uncouth words for you, from me, you have my utmost thanks for granting me this experience. My time here mashing badguy-face and subjugating my enemies has been an unmitigated pleasure.

I hope I have the fortune of running across you and the other Paragon Studios vets at some point in the future (My CoH Expat M&Gs next year at GenCon and Origins are open to all of you and your dinner is on me).

Our meeting at the last Player Summit was brief, and marred by an obnoxious smug infection I'd been carrying around vis-a-vis the Magisterium Trial on Beta. I'm sure you had some desire to slap it out of me. I don't blame you. Hell, if it was me, I'd be doing imitating Cary Elwes from Robin Hood: Men in Tights and using a gauntlet.

Here's hoping that the Titan Initiative bears some fruit and you're able to participate again in some meaningful way in the world you helped build and grow over this last decade.

I'd rather not simply page-crawl the forum to death. There's literally MILLIONS of pages here. That kind of load would bomb the server and make many, may people very angry with you.

A database backup and restore is...relatively...small, easily restored, and there are numerous tools out there for converting it to other forum software. It could then be locked down (made read-only) and left as a long-term archive of the original site.
  14. Zwill,

I know this is a long shot and a probably "hell no". But I figured I could at least ask.

Is there any possibility of getting a user-data sanitized backup of the vbulletin forum data? There's 8+ years of post history there, some of them QUITE landmark posts. Everything from Unique_Dragon's "Gone to the Americans" to Sister Flame, to...well. Lots of stuff.

Some of the things are noted in the ParagonWiki. But a static, read-only copy of the forums would be incredible.
  15. _Wyll_,

Thanks for sharing this experience with us.

The entire extended CoH family of spandex-clad "aunts" and "uncles" and "cousins" has benefited at least as much from her adventures as she has.

I wish you all the best in the future.

And Sister Flame. Keep the fires burning girl! No matter what ANYONE tells you, you're a hero.

I was actually thinking more Chicago Blackhawks. Lots of passionate, involved staffers who just want their team to succeed. And an owner who's pinching pennies so hard that if he wasn't smothering, you could hear Abe screaming in mortal agony.

While I don't have the technical skills displayed by others in this thread, I am excellent at organization (Spreadsheets HOOOOOOO!) and written communication.
That and we need lists. LOTS OF LISTS!
  18. It's been an honor to share the field of aggro with you guys. All of you.

Not sure what the hell I'm going to be doing after this. I think my mez resist toggle dropped (or I got whacked by something incarnate level). Just finding myself going in about 300 distinct directions simultaneously.

The schedule for Tanker Tuesday (and the Tanker Tuesday Tours) is up at:

    http://www.tankertuesday.com

I've got the site regged more or less in perpetuity. So it'll be up for a long while. You can always reach me there, or coh-supergroups.com.

There are going to be two CoH Expats Meet and Greets next year (at least ones I'm doing). One in Columbus, OH at Origins Game Fair, the other a month or so later at GenCon in Indianapolis.

The meeting is open to any and everyone who wants to attend.

May your aggro be uncapped and a dumpster near at hand...

So if any of you would be kind enough to take this pic I made and spread it around, I would be grateful. It's a little maudlin, I know, but hey, whatever it takes, right?
Hey. If you play this game, you're family.

    Hi! I'm your creepy uncle!

  20. Running around the Rikti WarZone with Rush. and Techno Wonder for months when I was first leveling up as Hyperstrike.

Impyre's MOSTF runs were great. Especially once my internet connection problems worked themselves out.

    Every Rikti raid.

I only tangentaly brushed with Badge during one anniversary event. IMPRESSION MADE!

    Teleport ski teams with Knowmad

RTR every Wednesday. I didn't always make it, but it was always on my calendar.

Endless iTrials with all of you.

    Hami Raids with Major T.

Every one of you I met in person at various M&Gs.

Every one of you I've gotten to know over the last four years.

Crap. I have to go to work. So I'm going to stop here before I start blubbering again.
  21. Thanks guys. The last couple days have been kinda REALLY bleak. I needed this.
  22. *Hits DULL PAIN*

    Okay. Ready for another round.

    Mr. NCSoft...you asked for this.

    *Knockout Blow*
