  1. Okay, the 430 isn't going to give you much of an increase.

    It'd help to know budget.

    As to USB sound.
I have onboard sound on my system, but I also has a sound device through my keyboard (Logitech G510) as well. I use the one through my keyboard to keep my headphones from draping all over the place and catching on stuff. It works just fine.

Previously, I had a set of Plantronics 3D USB headphones with a sound "card" that was buggy and unstable.

Basically as long as the USB port is 2.0 or better, you'll be fine.
  2. Loved the Wales-Jersey connection.

Yes, it's a dream job. But it's still a "job". Long hours, grueling scheduling, take after take after take.

It's not like they set up once, run, and get every shot in a single take.

Working 16-20 hours a day, 6-7 days a week for months at a time, even on a dream job, gets exhausting.

As they noted, this is why they're filming in three blocks this time instead of ripping straight through the entire production. It gives the crews time to rest, recharge, and come back ready to give their all for the next block.

It also gives them time to get some of the other work done rather than piling it all up at the end.

    How many??

My favorite Punisher kill was from the Punisher: War Zone film.

Parkour + Rocket = PULL!!! *BOOMSPLAT!*

And it was just so out of left field that I couldn't stop laughing. Had to leave the theater.
  5. You may need to try uninstalling the launcher as well and removing the launcher folder and the game folder.

Run a registry cleaner immediately afterward.

    That should set you right.

Obviously there would be tons of balance issues - if the power recharged fast enough, it'd be really OP - but maybe if it had a recharge like Fortitude's then it would work, you could only keep it on a couple of people or use it as an "oh ****" power. What do you think?
    This could work two ways.

    The first option "damage threshold".

And it's a Bad Idea. Mostly because you're completely untouchable until you hit bosses, EBs and AVs, then you're a squirrel in a chipper-shredder.

The second option is "ablative shields". You do damage to the shields instead of you.

You'd still have problems. Minions and Lts would take forever to grind you down, but bosses and AVs would simply annihilate your shields before your recharge allows you to recast them. Also, large mobs would hurt really really bad.

    NEW SHIELD!
    *DAMAGE*DAMAGE*DAMAGE*DAMAGE*DAMAGE*DAMAGE*DAMAGE*DAMAGE*DAMAGE*DAMAGE*DAMAGE*DAMAGE*
    *POOF!*

Essentially this sort of shielder would devolve into one of two types.

1: Those built for insane-o recharge who can keep them up continuously (would take no damage ever).

2: Those who don't have enough recharge yet.

Agreed. What one MAY want to do is, since you have access to two separate builds (three once you unlock Incarnates), is build one towards non-Granite supremacy with a Granite "OH ****!" button. Build another towards Granite maximization.

I'm talking about "compared to just running a well-slotted Granite.

Now granted, if you took all the armors and ran them at once, that would be five toggles which is a little higher than most tank primaries, but not any higher than DA, for instance.
    That's exactly it.

And I'm not saying it's squishier than *insert other primary*. I'm saying that, overall, it's squishier than Granite. Deleting the rest of your post because I'm talking about "non-granite vs granite" and nothing more.
  9. Basically the reason running all the other armors isn't as popular is that they're VERY end-heavy. And you still wind up with a tank that's squishier than Granite for everything save Psi.

Your resists running "all but Granite" are about 35-40% S/L and F/C. No energy resists. Granted, with some careful (see "expensive") building you can softcap easily to S/L/E/N and Psi.

But, basically, any energy damage bypassing your defenses will wreck you, and you'll be getting hit regularly by Fire/Cold damage.

Also, I classify "Oh ****!" powers are things that have truly nasty side effects. Like the crash from Invulnerability's Unstoppable.

With Stone, built right, it can be left on forever without running you out of endurance, and makes you, by default the toughest tank in the game. It's down-side? Oh DARN! You're doing less damage and moving slower.

1: You can survive long enough that lowered damage means jack and squat. They're going to die...eventually.
2: This is why the devs invented Teleport (well, maybe not THE reason, but TP is damned useful).

Unfortunately, it looks like a bunch of games (maybe even CoH) has trouble with this since the launcher checks the video card capability before the game triggers the switch to gaming graphics.

Just about any of the newer nVidia laptops are running Optimus setups by default.

If this technology is problematic to running CoH (and I think there have been some issues thus-far), then a laptop running AMD graphics would be preferable at this point.

They need to solve the whole "Jekyll and Hyde" issue of the set with Rage.

Without Rage, the set is DEFINITELY sub-par. With Rage, it's borderline overpowered. Taking into account scrapper damage mods and crit chances, it'd be ridiculously OP on a scrapper as a straight port.

And even if Rage were changed to a quick-charging "build-up" type power, you'd still have problems because of how badly SS performs outside of rage.

Don't even get me STARTED on double-stacked Rage.

You have missed Reichsman with your Knockout Blow.
    CRITICAL!
    You have defeated Reichsman.

  15. Dear LORD (Recluse???)! Where's the time gone?

It seems like only last month I was a grubby little newb, street sweeping my way up. *SHUDDER*

Here I am now, three years on. Maybe not a Great Old One or anything, but fewer people go "Who the **** are you?"

Oh well. It's been a great run so far. Let's see how the next three shape up.

    Not on Hami raids.

For end game, I'd just say go with Rebirth for the +Heal/+Regen.
Doesn't really help when stuff bypasses your defenses and hits for 90-100% of total damage output. Even on a tank that hurts, and you can't bolster your regen far enough to account for that sort of thing.

    Quote:
Also there's inspiration use for the Tanker to use.
You can carry 20 inspies. Even if they're all larges, that's still only 20 or so fights. Yeah, a 10-15% resistance boost from a small orange would increase survivability, but not that much.

And again, the team to cover the Tankers back. Like a Sonic, or Emp or Thermal!

Yes. But leveling up is going to be...painful.

Next to no damage resistance. So anything that cracks your defenses is (pardon the colloquialism) going to **** your **** up. And at lower levels that's going to be...well...EVERYTHING.

I've heard good things about this software for checking hard drives: Spinrite

Honestly, the drive reclamation functions in Spinrite are, at best, undesirable. If your drive is spitting out bad sectors, you don't want run a couple random checks, declare them okay, and put those sectors back into service. That's like taking a Pinto, putting a new coat of paint on it, and then declaring that it's safe.

Also, on large disks with great numbers of sector errors, recovery can take RIDICULOUS amounts of time. Worse, if the drive is having hardware failures, the additional stresses put on it by Spinrite can cause the drive to crap out before data can be recovered.

  23. The VidiotMaps stuff is merely a convenient installer for placing the files where they need to go in the filesystem to get the desired result.

As for Mids. All I can say is that you have several options and none of them are really "ideal" if you're really fond of your Mac.

1: Parallels and a copy of Windows.
2: VMWare Fusion and a copy of Windows.
3: VirtualBox and a copy of Windows.
4: Dual boot Windows on your Mac.
5: Remote desktop into a Windows machine.
6: Just get a Windows machine.
  24. First things first:

Get an external drive and back up EVERYTHING off that disk IMMEDIATELY.
Then run things like CHKDISK and any other tools you might want.

If you suspect your drive is going or is bad, you ALWAYS want to get your data off BEFORE you start beating on it with diagnostic tools (which might cause it to give up the ghost).
