But if its true that the store actually has to be up constantly and if its not all or even many unlockables can disappear because they cannot be validated, that's asking for trouble.

The first time I can't access my characters on live because of a server glitch I'm going to complain loudly, and quoting the standard code rant will be about as effective on me as quoting the ten commandments.

Designing the system to require continuous validation of in-game options is asking for the kind of trouble you do not want.
Agreed. Look at the joy continuous online validation brings to DRM in games!

If that's how it's going to work on my VIP stuff (stuff that isn't supposed to be getting taken away), I'll be rethinking my subscription as (if the current store server is any indicator), the market and rewards servers will be down 50-75% of the time.

Tell me how they plan for an unplanned service outage.

  3. Noting one thing. Due to not being able to access my account info, the current character generator can't unlock (or even display) street justice for me.

    Edit:
    Account Server is down.

Means I can't unlock more costume slots or anything either. Vunderbar.

    Edit:
Because there's no way to ascertain Paragon rewards, it's as if I'm stuck as a freebie account. My incarnate powers don't work, I can't join chat channels, NADA.

    Rage: 00000000000000000000

Going to give it a couple minutes. If they can't get it going I'm going to just log off and stay. It's annoying to be completely locked out of the stuff we're supposed to be testing.

    Edit:

Okay it's KINDA working right now. As for "nothing will be taken away". 14 of my 17 paragon points are assigned now, but I still can't access my Ninja run, Sands of Mu, etc.

The new tutorial, I'm kinda "meh" about. It kinda reminds me of a Cheesy Other game intro.

    Edit:

Okay the store REALLY needs to hide one-time purchases that you've already bought.

    Edit:

Buttons for claiming things from e-mail are absolutely illegible.

    Edit:
It allowed me to buy Ninja Run, even though I already had it.

Yeah. This store system needs a LOT of TLC. And maybe an overhaul or two.

    Edit:
Started out as a fully-skinned female.
    Zoned into Perez.
Came out the other side as a completely black male model.

My costume slots were opened earlier and were showing clones of my prime costume.

    Edit:

And alas, poor Galaxy City, I knew him Horatio!
  4. It might help to bump the queue limit a bit right now guys. I KNOW it's only one server but come on. This isn't a test of "ooh, the game is so choppy!" and you're not running a rikti raid on it right now.

No it's not open to anyone. We have extensive rules.

1: You have to be a tank.
2: When in doubt, follow the tank.
3: You can never have too many tanks.

Realistically, if you show up with a tank, you're 100% okay.

It was Ce'Nedra. She bullied him into it.

The only bullies in the story bigger than her were Polgara and the original Gorim.

It's just sooooooo ssssslllllllllloooooooooooooowwww, at least with plot progression. To make matters worse, the new US replacements seem so bland compared to the old Torchwood regulars, despite being significantly bigger names (Bill Pullman, Mekhi Phifer and Lauren Ambrose) than those UK actors (Gareth David-Lloyd, Burn Gorman and Naoko Mori) probably ever will be.

I'm getting impatient that, before the season started, we knew that people stopped dying. Now, 5-6 weeks (or however many it is) into the season, we know that people stopped dying and *spoiler, sorta* some pharmaceutical company seems suspiciously prepared for this event.

I'll keep watching it, since I'm already invested in it. This series has put a stain on the Torchwood name though.

This is one of the problems of running a complete story arc for the series rather than truly episodic content. You're telling ONE story over 13 weeks. Necessarily this is going to mandate that certain things be drawn out moreso than would EVER be considered if the plot-of-the-week had to be resolved by the end of the episode.

Torchwood really did work better as an episodic thing. The single-arc season isn't BAD, just that if you're used to the push of plot, this slowdown can turn you off.

You keep using that word. But I do not think it means what you think it means.

  13. Okay 1: Put some more memory into it first.

Linky to 530s-compatible memory at Crucial.com

Unfortunately you're probably going to have to upgrade the power supply to be able to mount any acceptable video card in there. Most of even the CHEAP ones are calling for a 300W PSU MINIMUM.

If it'll fit in the case: I'd suggest this.
Suggesting blind because I'm not sure if you're in the minitower or in the low-profile case.

After that, you're good for a decent low-end card.

All in all you're looking at somewhere between $100-120 total for the upgrade.

  15. Okay my advice is essentially the same as Xmas and Newchemicals.

Gut your current system save for hard drives (if they're SATA), optical (though sata opticals are relatively cheap), and get yourself an i5 2500K, P67/Z68 board, 8GB of DDR3, and a 560 Ti (make SURE you get the Ti variant, the regular 560 is to the Ti what the 460 SE was to the GTX 460).

    CPU

    Motherboard

    Memory

    Video Card

If you don't need new optical drive, hard drives, or a 64-bit OS, this'll run you about $620 plus shipping.

I thought it was all right. Actually, due to the way they're weaving things (already being on Third Earth, etc), it's almost like it's a continuation of the original series but "a thousand years on", and adding in the "historic repetition" (including the "those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it" sentiment).

The trouble is, I'm having a difficult time deciding where to put the set. My choices are either in Scorch or in Cremate. I would think scorch would be the better choice, since the proc would have more chances to go off, but there may be another factor I am missing. My current attack chain is Incinerate, Scorch, Cremate, Scorch if that is of any use to you. Thanks for any help you can give.

Brawl. No endurance worries (since purples are notoriously short of EndRed), and up stupidly fast so you have tons of chance to proc.

    Any input is appreciated.

I was going to say, as long as you don't feed them after midnight...
  20. Okay first off, is this a leveling build or is this a build that's already at a certain level (or 50)?

It CAN make a difference. Because leveling some builds and trying to play with partially complete sets can be the very essence of pain.

BUT, take a look-see at Call Me Awesome's guides:

Invulnerability and the First 20 Levels

    Invulnerability and the Soft Cap

These two guides are absolutely invaluable.

As to my recommendations. A well built Inv tanker can easily handle the endurance burp from a crashing Hasten. Don't be afraid to take it. It speeds up the butt-kickery enormously.

Unstoppable is HIGHLY optional in a soft-capped build. If you're rarely (if ever) getting hit, having a "crash and burn" God Mode that you never use is somewhat pointless and a waste of a power choice (and slots).

No. Actually it's not. It's a generic marketing phrase.

The brick and mortar places selling "ASOTV" stuff has no special brand control or anything as the logo and the term existed before the foundation of said chain of stores.

[qoute]I suppose it's an open question whether the "As Seen On TV" people (they have actual brick and mortar stores around here) would view it as good-natured free advertising or feel obliged to do something about it.[/quote]

They can try. They'll lose though.

Heck, even the logo is Public Domain.

Inv has 3 toggles of its own. Totaling .73 end/sec resting consumption.
If you toss on Tough, Weave, and Combat Jumping it goes to 1.44 end/sec.

    Completely unslotted for ANYTHING.

Horrible endurance issue? That's horrible on par with waking up an hour later than you wanted to on a day you have nothing scheduled to do. Or getting a steak medium well instead of medium. Or paying $3.95 for gas then being told that if you'd driven another 20 miles, you'd have found a place selling it for $3.94.

Maybe not humanity as we know it today (GOD! I hope not!). But, some (hopefully) recognizable offshoot of **** Sapiens Sapiens. Presumably better for the passing of a few billion years. And hopefully not the product of a dysgenic society (a'la Idiocracy).
