Not sure how fond I am of Cage coming back for it but hey. The first one wasn't TOTALLY bad.
The last line of the trailer was hilarious though. -
Quote:Okay you're correct. I'm thinking of AMD's purchase of the FireGL team.um...
no.
Diamond Multimedia is it's own company: http://www.diamondmm.com/about.php
No part of their stock is, or has ever been, owned by AMD or ATi.
The extent of the relationship of Diamond MultiMedia to AMD is that DiamondMM is a purchaser and vendor of AMD's GPU parts, same as Asus, XFX, PowerColor, and HIS.
The only AMD card vendor with direct monetary investment from AMD is Sapphire Technology. -

- Mobile video chipsets
- *Budget* or *low power* versions of their line

Considering that he can cap S/L/E/N without it or the PVP IO? I don't think the advice is quite THAT bad. Then again, I'm notoriously stingy on Endurance expenditure on most of my builds. For some people they'd classify the builds as "underperforming", but I look at them as "self sufficient".

Yeah, the card should put you over the top. Your framerate may or may not go up a little (CoH is a rather...strange...game when it comes to determining framerate) and I'm unsure the built-in framerate monitor works properly.

Quote:First question, what are the specs of your underlying system.I currently have an Nvidia GTX 260 core 192, 896MB but yesterday was able to land a pretty good deal on a Radeon HD6870 1GB. What sort of performance increase do you think I will see with this new card? Is there anyone else on here who can tell me their experience with a 6870? I know I will be playing driver roulette for the first few days until I find a stable series, but I am ready for it.
So can anyone tell me what they are getting FPS-wise with a 6870? I currently am running at 1920x1080 with ultra settings "mostly" maxed (low FA, AA and Shadows, 115% world and character detail), but I am hoping this card will put me over the top. Thanks.
It's important because "Sticking this into my i7 970 machine with 16GB of RAM" is going to get you a different answer from "Sticking this into my Core2 Duo 2.0Ghz machine" with 4GB of RAM. -
Quote:That's just it. You didn't have anything other than the 3% unique in there. And S/L was sub-90%.Hyper, if TI, UY and Tough are all fully slotted RPD really doesn't need anything more than minimal slotting to reach the S/L hard cap.
The build I posted was just a minor modification of the one you put up in the post I responded to.
Look at the build I posted. I didn't put a set of RA in there. I just used one of the slots I stole from Rage to put a common Resist in there, bumping the S/L resist to hard cap.Quote:I can't see any good reason to use a Reactive Armor set in one of the passives and common IOs in Tough, since Tough has a higher base value and needs end reduction. -
Okay, essentially here's what was going on in the build I critiqued.
Both Rage and Taunt were 5-slotted.
I converted Taunt to a 6 slot and reduced Rage to a 3 slot (common recharge IOs).
You lost 5% recharge from a set bonus in Rage, but gained 7.5% recharge from a set bonus in Taunt.
Also, he had Tough slotted for 1 common End Reduction and 2x Common Resist Damage and only the Res/Def unique in Resist Physical Damage.
I replaced the commons in Tough with 3 Aegis (Resist, Resist/EndRed and Resist/EndRed/Rech).
I also took remaining slot I'd "stolen" from Rage and plonked it into Resist Physical Damage and tossed a common Resist on it (since it's Auto, there's no endurance consumption). This bumped your S/L resistance above the 90% hard cap when it was at approximately 86 before.
You lost a little +ToHit in the bargain, but when you're double-stacking Rage, it's not a huge deal. If it BECOMES a huge deal, replace the 3x Common Recharge IOs with Membrane Hami-Os. They buff Recharge and ToHit. -
Quote:Have you had it working for a clean install since the advent of the new launcher?Does the game explicitly state it no longer supports Fat32? I have it running on plenty of Fat32 drives... I guess if it can get it in, it works but otherwise you can't get it in?
The IT boss in me says "Work laptop is for work. Bad employee!"Quote:Work-issue laptop. We use the FAT32 partition for some boot up/backup/recovery stuff that I haven't had time to find a boot cd setup that supports our nics and ntfs blah blah old system blah blah overworked 2 people doing the work of 4 blah blah economy blah. -
Quote:I made some minor tweaks to your build. I got your s/l resistances closer to the cap without the use of Cardiac. This is for times when you might exemp down.
I've started to really like the Hami-O's in Invincibility. They'll give you a touch more defense then the LotGs, and definitely even more +to-hit. (not that you need it with Rage up). They're not an cheap option, but one to consider.
Anyway, take a look at the build and see what you think.

Okay the problem is you went after the recharge bonus in Rage (5%) and ignored the 7.5% one in Taunt. BAD! BAD!
And RPD is essentially unslotted!
Here's a small tweak that:
- Gets you to S/L cap for Resist
- Bumps your recharge slightly
- Bumps your F/C defense
- Reduces resting Endurance consumption even further.
-
Quote:In short, it isn't. FAT32 has been a deprecated filesystem for system hard drives for approximately 10 years now (since the advent of Windows XP).It downloads all 6gb as a SINGLE FILE? That's...the hell? How is it supposed to install on Fat32 systems then?
If you don't mind my asking, why, specifically? Are you running Win98/ME?Quote:Unfortunately the laptop in question needs to have a Fat32 drive for access from a boot disk & other random junk. -
Quote:I sell for 100 each. because 1-100 it's 5 influ to list (notice the final list/sell deduction from the market is 199980). So why should I lose money on a market listing?Salvage will be even more out of whack due to 2x exp weekend. I honestly sell my salvage for 1 influ.
The salvage situation is ALWAYS out of whack after DXP. Just some of the stuff is rather RIDICULOUSLY borked price-wise right now. It'll settle down again in a couple weeks. -
For my Inv tank, I took Spiritual. I already took the Energy Mastery Epic and built primarily with Endurance conservation in mind. So much so that Conserve Power is almost never needed.
Basically, run your build and see what seems lacking to you.
Are you spending time standing there (or using brawl) waiting for your attacks to come back up? Spiritual.
Are you missing a lot? Nerve.
Are you already running an optimal attack chain at the proper speed? Musculature.
Do you have endurance problems? Cardiac.
ALSO, look at the secondary/tertiary effects as well.
My Fire/Fire blaster went Cardiac because of endurance woes, yet also gained a range boost out of it. It enables him to hover-tank Lord Recluse in the STF if the main tank is having problems. -
Honestly, if you can get away with it. Get yourself a decent laptop for school work (college student), and build yourself a (relatively) inexpensive gaming workstation. It'll be cheaper and easier in the long run than trying to cram all your expectations into a laptop.

Okay, barring the rest she was given over the DXP weekend.
1-50 in a WHOPPING 8 hours!
Went from 1-35 without any augmentation whatsover. By then I was sitting on several tens of millions and started acquiring procs. After adding them, kill speed increased NOTICEABLY.
Here's the current AE build.

One of the nice things about this method is that the toon itself is almost totally disposable. This one could be stripped out in two vet respecs.
Moreover, it's easy and almost totally safe, barring:
- Whoops! Forgot to eat the stack of purples! *FLOORSMOOTCH*
- Since, even with capped defense, you still get hit, if you're not getting greens in your inspie drops, you'll occasionally go down.
- Occasionally there'd be a dearth of blues as well (hence the PerfShifters)
- Forgetting to hit Hasten before entering.
- Not having the crafting station available.
- Reaching suitable level to take advantage of available procs/proc recipes.
- Staying in-mish and trying to kill everything from the two groups I'd aggro. It drove my arc completion times from 15 minutes to about 22. Slowed my ticket earnings down some.
Congrats TopDoc. You have developed an absolute winner here. Let's see how long it takes the devs to nerf/cripple. -

Yay for you. Going out of your way to soft-cap against pure psi is relatively pointless for an invuln. You aren't going to see enough of an appreciable gain in psi defense without SEVERELY jacking around your build. And besides, depending on how crazy you get with the build, it's quite doable to get ranged defenses up into the 30's, covering you from a goodly chunk of psi damage due to the fact that pure psi is about as rare as hens' teeth in the game.Quote:If you're not one of them, so be it. Anyway, without the IO and Maneuvers, I would have a good sized gap to soft-capping psi. -
