Got one spanked yesterday in real time on Justice.
Sent out the petition, 10 minutes later the GM had showed up. Presented the evidence and "Buh-bye!"
That and while he was trying to announce to people to go to http://buyfakemoneywithrealmoney.schmuck I was announcing to people "Unlimited Inf available for free. Head to http://boards.cityofheroes.com and hit the Market forum!"
Yeah. Petty. I know. I'm like that sometimes. -
Maybe something like this:
http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/saved/1DNGTK
Assumed you wanted a new monitor as well.
Went a little "crazy" with the dual SSDs in RAID0.
But I can pretty much guarantee that lag will NEVER be from your system's disks.
The 15 second boot times are a damn fine thing too.
Only thing I didn't include were speakers (I play with headphones since I live in an apartment). -
I actually like Spring Attack. It's damage isn't "bad". It's no Foot Stomp, but it's nice for grinding up herds of minions in ADDITION to Foot Stomp. I've gotten so that I'm entering tightly packed groups (like some of the mobs in those little dead-end foyers in office hallways) doing SA, FS, Judgement. After that I just mop up the remaining bosses and trot on down to the next group.
It's also a GREAT combat positioning tool. Ever gotten swamped in a lousy position (like back to the wall so the camera angle bites) by a group of enemies (like Knives of Artemis). And can't jump to reposition due to enemy power effects?
Spring Attack. Select the location and GO!
A couple things need to happen with this power though.
1: The recharge duration is CRAZY.
Now I realize there's a tradeoff between the superior mobility introduced by SA, but six times the recharge?
2: They need to do something about the sound effect at the end of the SA animation. It's identical to Rage's power-up/down sound and can be seriously disconcerting in heavy battle. This is a minor quibble. But it's one that does need looking at.
That said, I'm going to be mirroring this build onto my SS/Inv Brute. It ought to be absolutely terrifying. Run into a group, let them whack at me to build rage, then SA, FS and Judgement. -
Quote:Which is crazy. You're telling me that little sub-million dollar mom and pop game shops can plan a stream of conventions a YEAR in advance? But Paragon can't even plan ONE?I also found out from Zwill that 3 months notice was the longest notice he thought he'd be able to give.
Which probably means "overlaps with Origins and GenCon".Quote:As TJ mentioned above, Zwill also said that a different time was being considered, possibly summer.
I understand that they're, for some reason, terrified of people not being able to be in-house if an emergency arises (the supposed excuse for not going anyplace else). You'd think they'd never heard of remote connectivity, VPNs, or anything of the sort...
Honestly, nobody's really expecting Paragon to pull 40 people to cons all over the US. You can do Origins with 4 people if you want to go "Iron Man" or 6 if you want a relaxed con. GenCon really requires a minimum of 8 though. And if they want to forego a booth altogether they can. An overnighter (say, in Friday morning, out Saturday evening) can be fairly economical. Hell, most of the preparations can be done by the people setting up the M&G! 4 people. Wham! Bam! Off to the Zig Ma'am!Quote:I'm not sure if this is something Zwill said or if I heard it from Brian Clayton during the opening session, but an event like this, with the presence of such a large number of the developers in attendance ,was pretty much only going to happen here in the Bay Area. That makes sense to me when I consider how many of the development team showed up. (Maybe as many as 40?) Can you imagine the expense & especially the hit to productivity if Paragon Studios sent so many people anywhere else? I think Paragon Studios events outside the Bay Area will be limited to Meet & Greet style events.
Nobody's asking for a Player Summit at each and every event. One, maybe two panels and the M&G (hell I'd even spring for their tab).Quote:It's not that they hate you, or don't care about your loyalty, or think you're any less deserving a fan, it's just that it's not feasible for the kind of event that happend this last weekend to take place anywhere else.
If they can send a small group to an East Coast Comicon, they can damn well send a group to Indianapolis or Columbus or Atlanta with equal facility.
It's not that they hate us. It's just their grasp of logistics is...well, there's not a nice word for it. -
Quote:Well what if they have it in March? Have your face chopped up, glued back together, then while you're unconscious, they stuff you in a packing crate and drop-ship you to Cali? You wake up with a nice drug-induced mellow in a relatively warm, comfy climate.Well next year will most likely be out of the question for me anyways...going to have double-jaw surgery sometime next year (Feb./March?) and have to take at least 14 days off of work for that...so there goes the vacation days I'm saving up

Quote:You forgot one important thing. What AT would win a race to clear a +4 8x map. Can choose anymap any AT
SS/fa brute on fire mobs?
A Dom?
Elec/SD brute or scrapper
Fire/kin?
Something else?
What enemy group?
Sure, you may slap up +4x8 Council and make them your *****.
What happens when you go mob-diving on +4x8 Arachnos?
What happens when you miss that sapper mob-diving +4x8 Malta?
Mothership Rikti?

In short, lots and LOTS of variables here.
As such, simply stating +4x8 is WAY misleading.
My main can hop in and hit aggro cap on stuff like Council and be rocking +60% (66/63/61) defense to everything except Psi. So I can (and have) gone AFK in the middle of a group of Council. I've come back and they're STILL trying to attack me and my HP are at or darn near 100%.
I do that with Carnies?
I come back to a Plank Tank. -
Quote:This is my impression of Gamestop.Be aware that if it's not WoW, Gamestop employees don't seem to know what it is.
I went in looking for them, didn't see them at first, asked an employee, and he told me they don't carry them anymore. While he was telling me this, I found them on the time card rack.

Quote:Any attack system that modifies subsequent attacks is technically a combo system.Titan Weapons does not use any kind of combo system whatsoever. It just speeds up additional attacks after any of the first attack you choose hits. It's pretty brainless.
I'd point out specifics in how this applies to TW but apparently Beta choked on the last update and is now slurping in 2GB of files...oh joy. -
Quote:10 Shards + 1M inf = 10 Threads (once per day)
10 Shards + 1M inf = 5 Threads (as many times as you've got Shards)

They also announced today at the Player Summit that there WILL be solo-friendly Incarnate content coming in Issue 22.
Fixed that for you. -
I'd say Ion is one of the most popular, not because of the old bug, but because it can cover a huge area due to the Jump effect. My FF defender uses it for fresh bowl-spawns on mothership raids and RARELY misses.
OTOH, my main tank took Pyronic. Why? Mainly looks. The fast animation is nice and having enemies refuse to grouping up tight to get to him is seldom a problem. But those are secondary and are the reason I haven't deprecated Pyronic and build myself a secondary for Ionic.
I think, for Tanks and Brutes, Pyronic is probably a better choice. But for everyone else, Ionic is the best bet.
Hell, even for Tanks and Brutes, Ionic isn't a bad choice. I've had my targeted enemy run away last second to try and reposition themselves for a better attack angle and take my Pyronic with them, saving their group... -
Okay little things.
Any resists that are toggles (Temp Invulnerability, Unyielding, Tough)? The ones eating Endurance?
4-Slot them with Reactive Armor. Resist, Res/End, Res/Rech, Res/End/Rech.
You get them
The Auto resists (Physical Damage, Energies, Elements), 3-slot them with Aegis (for a big F/C defense boost) (Res, Res/End, Res/Rech).
Use the slots you free up elsewhere in your build. Like adding something like the Mako triple or Quad to big hitters like Energy Transfer and Total Focus.
Also, if you have a few million Inf (or a single Alignment Merit) free get a Steadfast Protection 3% defense IO. Your defenses, right now are pretty darned good. And every percent of defense does more for you than the one before. Toss it in as a 4th slot in RPD.
Also, maybe look at replacing one of the common EndMods in Stamina with a Performance Shifter +End. You'll lose 4% (0.07 end/sec) recovery, but you'll gain a chance to get endurance back regardless of recovery debuffs. Dead useful against some enemies that can floor recovery.
Also, on Whirling Hands, consider frankenslotting thus:
3 Eradication: Proc, Triple, Quad
2 Multi-Strike: Both triples.
And either the Scirocco Triple, or the Obliteration Triple or Quad. Your damage will come down, but your Endurance Reduction and Recharge on the power will shoot up into the 70% range. BEFORE Hasten. The three-slot on Eradication will also give you a nice bump on Energy defense as well. -
Honestly, it may come close or even surpass it. I'm still (probably) not going to play it.
I'm just not a huge fan of "combo" systems.
Dual Blades is the parent of these combo-based sets and I can barely tolerate it. In things like Street Justice and Titan Weapons start making me scream "MORTAL KOMBAT!!!" -
Quote:Ok, waaaaay back in the day, we used to use a chat bind that gave us an afk text along with a clear background chat bubble. I know there is a way to do it because my old school WS still has an $target Macro that uses this very chat bind.
It goes something like this...
/bind enter beginchat <color purple> <bgcolor #0000002> <bordercolor black> $$afk typing, one second please.
Problem is, is that it's not quite right. very close, but I'm missing something at the end to close it out I think. Anyone recall?
This link should help you. -
D_R, thanks for the question you got answered for me.
Note: I didn't really LIKE the answer. But c'est la vie.
Now if they'll do something about the "We're announcing it 2 weeks from now" penchant they have, maybe I can attend the next one. It's all the last-minute announcement BS that's REALLY irritating.
Quote:For those who were, it was fantastic seeing many of you again (and meeting others of you for the first time)! Special kudos of course to my fellow Justicites for additional entertainment (dead fish bacon waffles, and yes, you had to be there).
BIG REQUEST: if you didn't turn in the survey things they gave us, please scan them in and send them to the email address we had to send our badge pictures to. They WILL be utilizing that feedback for the next Plummit - let's make sure to keep improving them.
For those who were NOT there (and especially the ones who'd PMd or Tweeted me with requests) - I tried to fulfill as many as I could. Whenever I had the chance, I tried to bring up your questions to the appropriate redname(s) so your concerns could be addressed (sometimes other people asked your questions in the panels, so you you can find those yourself).
But there WILL be another Player Summit (possibly upgraded to HeroCon-hood depending on budget, location, player interest, etc).
So to EVERYONE...
START SAVING NOW. PLEASE.
(I know the vacation time submission thing can be a hassle and a half, but hopefully you can stockpile enough money to be able to swing the trip.)
It was wonderful fun, and I hope to see many more of you there next year!

Quote:The problem I have is when I go to play CoH. My computer is off. So I boot up my computer, and then have enough time to go make a sandwich, do some laundry and clean out the gutters before NCLauncer is up (minor exaggeration). The old patcher, I could start up as soon as windows was logged in and start patching, even while the computer was starting up all my start up stuff (steam, pandora, other random carp).
Three letters.
SSD.

Quote:Possibly it was forced on them from above. But, to be honest, the old CoH Laucher had its own share of warts as well.Question is why CoH have to use launcher while I can get in other NCsoft game I play without it?
Lots of people were experiencing permissions issues due to how it installed. And various other screwy behaviors when updating. -

Probably not.Quote:anyway to not have the raids in same zone at WST/WTF?
As to the lag. Sorry if I seem callous, but I'm not experiencing more than usual minute lags here and there. Nothing framerate-crushing. -
Quote:Okay, you're a frickin' fogey man. Referring to someone who's 70 as "lass" and "chick"?In flight now. Wifi access to avoid talking to a particularly Flirty 70 yr old lass who keeps stressing she has all her natural hair. I think her teeth are gray.
Someone send help. ETA at SJC is still 1:05. Unless I kill this chick. Then I imagine we'd be delayed on the disembark.
Tighten down the Depends, put your teeth back in, grab your walker threateningly, and tell her "GET OFF MY LAWN!"

Uh. No. That might work if you could actually buy components with Astrals or upgrade a bunch of Astrals to an Empyrean.
You can't.
And the cost of constructing rares and VRs from threads compared to trading in Emps is ridiculous.
Remember: Emps break down into 20 threads.
Cost to create a Rare:
100 Threads and 4 Uncommons plus 25 million Inf.
Cost to create an uncommon? 60 Threads.
(60x4)+100 = 340 Threads
Cost to create a Rare:
8 Empyreans (Equivallent to 160 threads)
Cost to create a Very Rare:
4 Rares and 100 million Inf.
((60x4)+100)x4 1360 threads (plus 200 million Inf)
Cost to create a Very Rare:
30 Empyreans (Equivallent to 600 threads)
Now think about T4's. Where you need 2 Rares and a Very Rare for every one. -
I hate you all.
That is all.

Quote:Alright, so I have two accounts, one is a CoH DVD Account and the other a CoV DVD account.
I was on account 1 (CoH DVD) for about five minutes before switching over to account two (CoV DVD).
When I went on account 2 I noticed I had all CoH DVD content unlocked, and my CoV DVD content was locked.
I double checked to make sure I was not on the CoH DVD account, but some how the content transferred over.
Has anyone else had something similar happen when going between accounts?
Edit: The perks that transferred over include prestige power slide
Edit Edit: Upon logging on a new character, I now get the "You have been forcibly disconnected from the server. S_INVALID_CHARACTER" message, and I must close the client.
Edit Edit Edit: After being disconnected from the server so rudely (Just kidding, of course.), my account perks are back to normal, I do however still have one character that it put Prestige Power Slide on that I cannot log into.
Okay, here's what I *think* happened.
If you only logged back to the sign-in, rather than shutting down.
The game client retains a lot of state data (If you're in the Market interface, your last seached-for items, it even brings up your market inventory from another character for a heartbeat) that doesn't seem to go away when you don't shut down completely. This may be another example of that state data not being properly flushed when you don't shut the client down.
