Quote:In my recollection, the only one who's ever been able to harm a Celestial (outside of WhatIf alt-canon and without obliterating themselves in the process) is Sue Storm.Nope, those are definitely Celestials.
As for why they are there? *shrug* I haven't picked up any X-comic in years.
Are they on the X-Men's side? Uh... the Celestials are cosmic forces. They technically aren't on anyone's side. They shouldn't even notice that the X-Men are there, because there is quite literally nothing that the X-Men should be able to do to them on a permanent basis. (Side note: In an issue of Thor, many years ago, Thor managed to breach the helmet of a Celestial. The process of doing so destroyed Mjolnir (it got better), and Thor still wasn't able to harm the Celestial at all.) -
Quote:Moreover, they shouldn't be "fiddling" with the live servers to "try and fix" things. They should have a copy in-house someplace that they've beat upon to come up with the fix in the first place.Forum maintenance isn't the same as development. Forum maintenance is not the stage where changes to the forums are developed. It's more the part where they back up the forums and do maintenance on the software and hardware and then restart it. To the best of my knowledge doing maintenance on a server is not a totally different skill set from setting a server. In fact they seem pretty similar to me.
Otherwise it's just random hack on top of random hack with no documentation. In a live environment no less. -
Quote:I love the benefits of IOs as much as the next guy, and I use them on all my characters. However, they sure do make a lot of powers and ATs feel broken or obsolete. Part of me wishes that the invention system was only ever crafting temp powers. I love using craftable temps on my characters, and would love it even more if there were more options. Keep in mind, I'm in no way advocating that IOs be removed or anything like that. They've been around far too long to go back now. I was just wondering if anyone else ever longed for the good old days when teams ran around more often because it meant something more than "those people I need to start the TF".
*Hyperstrike the Tank shrugs off a dogpile of 70,000 Arachnos soldiers like a heavy blanker, turns around and asks you to state the question again.*
What? No! I like my IOs just fine!

Quote:What you were doing was the first option. The "Grinding salvage and threads on trials" route. This has been the lightning fast way for me.
In one day (i.e., several hours during a single Sunday) of running iTrials, I had enough threads and astral/empyrean merits to go from only having Alpha slotted at tier 1, to having Alpha, Judgement, and Interface slotted to tier 3. Just last night, in only two hours of iTrial runs, I unlocked Lore and had enough threads and merits to slot it up to tier 3 immediately, and I still have lots of threads and merits to spare. How can this possibly be called the "long, long way around?"
Building from just threads is something completely different. And a FAR slower and more expensive process.
What I was referring to was building from nothing but threads and Inf (when called for). And yeah, 1300-1400 threads and a few hundred million so simulate what people who get lucky drops see in short order is what I'd call "punitive". -

Well, the last "fix" they tried (and hammed up), broke the layout hero-side. Missing naviation images, some of the elements of the pages have blown their boundaries now.

Quote:Sorry you feel this way.Hyperbole much?
It's an online forum for a game, not a service that takes care of an ICU or something.
The unmitigated arrogance of many of the forum regulars on these boards is what needs 'maintenance' IMO.
Were this some joe-blow PHPBB someplace, it wouldn't be a huge deal.
But the fact that this has been an ongoing, and escalating issue just looks bad.
Not saying I "deserve" better forums or any such self-entitled BS. I'm merely calling attention to the fact that the issues with the forums are being allowed to fester entirely too long. -
C'mon guys. It's not like the forums are part the public face you show to people here.
And they've only been COMPLETELY borked for a month. Nobody'll notice.
And hey, who cares that you've blown off what? THREE announced maintenance windows now?
The situation has passed ludicrous, come all the way around, kicked ludicrous in the nuts and is coming up on lapping it again.
Either fix it or put up an official "We don't give a ****" announcement. -
Quote:You COULD 6-slot rage and wind up with a fast-charging power with ridiculous +ToHit. I normally find dropping 2-3 recharges in it sufficient. Or, if you have lots of Inf, Membranes. Thanks for looking and taking the time to respond. I agree with your conclusions. Any suggestions for that last power other than manuevers or is it still a good choice?
Would it make sense to slot IO set in Rage then to boost the to hit? Swap any other slots around?
As for the last power. Honestly, if it's going to be that poorly slotted, and you're doing away with the Leadership pool, take something like Recall Friend and put a Winter's Gift Slow Resist in there. This way you get that nice slow resist goodness, and have a power for retrieving slow teammates. -
Responding to this late because I didn't see the initial followup.
Quote:Honest criticism, tempered with wry humor makes me a ****? Okay.hmm, I see carrying a conversation with you is going to be a test of my patience. Not sure why you insist on coming across like a ****. But now that we have established THAT kind of tone...
So now just giving general advice in a thread is a crime. Okay.Quote:Secondly, you say "Don't EVER depend on accolades as regular boosters of anything besides health and endurance."
....anything besides health and endurance....
The accolades I chose were ONLY health and endurance boosters...my god man.
And notice that I asked (ASKED mind you) about whether or not you were exemping. Your build loses roughly half of it's defense potential by the time it hits 30.Quote:You continue to base your arguments on this supposed endurance issue. I base this on experience (not opinion) when I say that the end mod vs. end drain will not create any endurance issues. That means (I figure I should elaborate when speaking to you) that I can run all day long without my toggles dropping while doing task forces, trials, solo x8...whatever I want. But maybe that speaks to my playstyle vs. yours.
And as I noted, if you exemp to the point where the Incarnate slot turns off, Foot Stomp becomes a major endurance hog.
But you want to take a simple question about that, and my reasons for asking it as a harsh criticism of your build and your knowledge of the game.
Okay.
Thanks for your reply. I'll make sure not to contribute to anything you want to do in the future. Wouldn't want to tear that thin skin. -

Quote:Okay, there's grinding trials for salvage. Which is the long way around.Gonna build up shards and notices of the well and see what I can do moving forward for my tank.
Blaster is just starting, so trying to figure out which alpha to go with.
Then there's trying to do everything with threads. Which is the long, long way around.
Trying to do it with shard-level components is the "Hope you have a few years to spare" way around.
If you're lucky, you'll rack up maybe 10-20 shards a day.
You can convert that into 10-15 threads.
And once a week you can pick up a Notice on the WTF.
To T4 everything out will take something on the order of 1400 threads and several hundred million inf.
Good luck. -

Well, let's see what we're dealing with here...
Carnies
Circle of Thorns
Council
Rikti
Tsoo
PPD
Snakes
... Dollface... Oh, wait.
And of course plenty of signature characters and AVs.
Overall though, most enemies that have access to those typically only have one or at most two, and the damage usually isn't too bad, so keeping some purple insps around is a perfectly viable solution.
-
But it's hooked to your game account. Which may or may not have a credit card hooked up to it. Which may or may not be a debit card directly hooked into your bank account.
Do you REALLY want to accidentally grant some scumbag unfettered access to your account for 30 days? Note, the cookie would still work for them even if you changed your account password can. -
Quote:Ok a few questions:
1) Why isn't Dark Armor considered the top defensive armor? With that heal, you could always be topped off.
Because a heal isn't "defense". It's not a proactive solution to damage (the way defense, ToHit debuffs, and resistance are). It's entirely reactive.
Scrappers/brutes have similar sets (Katana/BS). They're higher maintenance if you're relying on the attack to stay capped.Quote:2) How do you think Titan Weapons will effect which armor is the best? Defensive sweep can soft cap melee defense in two swings on it. -
Quote:What I'd like to be able to do is grab the attention of a full 2 groups of x8 spawns. So, you're asking for the aggro limit to increase from 17 to 50?
As it is now, I have no guarantee I won't snag most of the minions and leave a boss to immediately aggro-kill the poor blaster who happened to splash an AoE on him.
There are enough maps where you have 2 full groups bunched way WAY too close together to properly aggro control them all (the junction at the bottom of the hole in the Lost/Rikti/Argot'BurWot map is a prime example of this, as are some of the tip mission cave maps). -
Quote:I actually use it during the chokepoint strategy of the BAF. Pin a corner of one of the door bays to the edge of the bubble and it acts like a fish weir. The completely resistant LTs wade through, but the minions are caught. Providing nice grouping for AOEs.Actually, I find it has a pretty good place as crowd control. In a small enough space, you can pin mobs to the wall while the rest of your team (or your own pets) tear them up. Yes, it is a bit endurance intensive but I find its best used in small doses.
And I agree with Hyperstrike's "Never have enough 'get the hell offa me.' -
Quote:I actually have all four as well. I pretty much never use them (save a combination of Geas and Eye of the Magus when tanking tower-buffed LR).Fight off Rikti Invasions to get Elusive Mind, buy a Vanguard Psi Shield temp power, and/or get Eye of the Magus. Even use the Wedding Band if you have to. All of those are significantly more effective at closing the psi hole than any set bonuses will be and can be activated reactively when you start taking hits. I have all 4 options on my /Invuln but really only ever have to use EotM since it typically recharges by the next time I need it.
I can dive into 8-man even level mobs of carnies in complete safety. I can survive drawing two of them if I'm careful. I can take +2x8 for a single mob with a little care. +3x8 and above I just make sure to have a few inspies as backup. -
Honestly, a well built Invuln will actually have better psi protection than shows from the pure typed defense.
Why? Because they also have respectable levels of positional defenses that matter as well (Ranged/AoE).
Like this build. Yeah. 15% Psi defense.
But look at Ranged and AoE. 23.6% and 21.1% respectively.
That's going to shield out a lot more than you'd think.
On top of that, you're S/L softcapped with one enemy in range, E/N softcapped with 4, and F/C soft-capped with 5.
If you're at 50, carry one or two small purples in case you accidentally over-aggro psi heavy mobs. Otherwise, you're damn-near unkillable.
Compromising your build just to "patch the psi hole" is relatively pointless because you're lowering your overall survivability for a relatively rare damage type. And as far as I know, nothing in-game tosses pure psi with no other flags (typed or positional).
