If worse comes to worst, let me know. I can be on a plane to Seattle tomorrow afternoon with a Thompson SMG, a couple big cans of Mace, a stun gun, and a really large mallet.

This seems to be a motivational issue at this point. I'm REAL good at motivating people.
  2. Build Workshop = Fail

As noted, it was a poorly thought out move based on a badly skewed conversation with someone who was hadn't learned anything about the game or the support structures in the community yet.

Hey Zwill. If some newb thought it was a good idea to pass out CoH-themed ball gags, would we be be getting them in the mail right about now?

Well, just avoiding it is less work than posting "We don't give a ****".

    It's a labor-saving measure.

    I disagree with this wholeheartedly.

While additional defense isn't always required for an IO'ed to the gills Incarnate crew, just about anywhere else the toggle combat controls, the active combat control of Repulsion Bomb and the ability to focus on the secondary attacks rather than spamming a heal aura would DEFINITELY be considered an significant offensive boost.

About the only place a FF 'fender isn't going to be useful is in a group of "raid your brains out" iTrialers who do nothing BUT raid. In the other 99.999% of the game, a FF 'fender of just about any stripe is still perfectly useful.
  5. Well, had Jury duty tomorrow, so I couldn't stay the duration. But was able to partake of two runs at the Winter Lord trial.

First one, we lost 1/4 of the league going in. If the trials limited to 24 people SAY SO. If it's supposed to be 36 people let 36 in! Anyhoo, we were kinda in disarray, so we weren't successful.

So we started a second one. Again it dumped a quarter of our people.
But this time we brought the pain and showed that pathetic pile of powder who the REAL lords of Winter are!

    Then we mapserved...
And when I reconnected, found that I'd lost the candycanes and the units of reward merit.

    Bugs and petition submitted.

  7. Is is possible to?
    Sure.
Are TPTB going to allow it to happen?
    Probably not.
Mostly because Flash can be used to do all sorts of nasty little things to a viewer and controls on VBB for flash content aren't very comprehensive (most boards' aren't).
Moreover, it causes additional overhead for the boards because flash usually takes longer to load in properly than offsite images do.

And do you REALLY want to pop in on the boards and have some massive, screen-filling Flash animation take over the browser window?

As much as I'd like to be able to embed my tutorial videos and stuff into the boards, and have a more functional signature, I'd rather have the boards USABLE.

    Agreed.

  9. [QUOTE=Deus_Otiosus;4028072]You should also give him an education on the difference between Brute/Scrapper SD & Tanker SD.

I'll post this and see if he can see the difference. (note, you can take out the very pricey stuff and still get the same base results overall)

    3100 HP, before OWTS. 3100

    Only seeing 2725 without OWTS.
Could be an error on your side. Could be an import error on mine.

Wait...hold the phone. Stone and WILLPOWER?

I could see if you'd said Elec, since the resists there are incredible and you can layer a softcap on top of that.

    I could easily see Invuln.

    But Willpower?

Just gonna give you a funny look and leave it at that.

Trapdoor can be a funny thing at times due to the AI.

I once had a nearly impossible time with him on a NICELY IO'ed out SS/Inv Brute because I couldn't pull and keep him in the lava and couldn't beat him down fast enough while keeping his clones killed.

Or is it more like a content delivery network (like Akamai), where you simply have the file(s) up on the service and the service has the files mirrored to multiple locations throughout the country/world where. Then the client is connected to the "best" fit, based on network metrics?

Nobody's asking for "more rewarding". Just not "punitively less".
If the scales are truly even and trials still wither?
My answer to this is "so the hell what?"
If trials are abandoned in favor of solo and small teams content, it's rather indicative isn't it?

Most of the TFs still get run even though there's tons of rewarding (and in cases, more lucrative) single-player content right?

Personally I'm sick of huge gaggle-**** trials and the increasingly ugly, unresistable, cheat-tastic mechanics they've had to resort to simply to "provide a challenge" for groups of 16-24 players.

Sick. To the point where I pretty much universally refuse to participate anymore. Not to badge-*****. Not to advance. Not even when I'm dying for a team and it's the best thing going. I'd rather log off and read a book I've already read several times and didn't much enjoy.

I don't mind occasional raids. But an entire power system based around NOTHING but raids is an aberration and any community based solely on such "nothing but raids" culture as fundamentally, terminally diseased.

Good. Someone needs to be woken up.

So why isn't the trial content very much fun?
    • Sitting there forever and a day waiting for a league to fill? Accomplishing nothing during the entire painful period? Not being ABLE to do anything more than street-sweeping. Boredom.
    • If you're new, being dumped in with no explanation and no assistance. Yet the raid leader is screaming at you for not following some unaddressed script.
    • The aforementioned cheaty mechanics. Sorry, but massive unresistable damage and insta-death in a game with this many power effects and ground effects is absolute bull. Oh yeah we *FLASH*Gave*FLASH*You*FLASH*A*FLASH*Warning*FLASH*
    • The fact that the trials are slowly reverting back to a "must have X" to succeed gimmick mentality.
    • The fact that some people can run the trials a bare minimum number of times and acquire top-tier enhancements at little to no cost. Yet someone else needs to grind it hundreds of times, take weeks or months, and spend massive amounts of Inf to achieve the same results.
    • The fact that the "manufacture" method for salvage IS an order of magnitude more expensive. And that there's no direct upward conversion for Threads to Astrals to Empyreans. And that you can't directly buy Rare and VR salvage with anything BUT Empyreans. You have to manufacture Rares from a bunch of Uncommons plus Inf. And you have to manufacture VR's from a bunch of Rares plus Inf.
    • The fact that it's really REALLY hard for players to follow a coherent storyline when they're basically expected to simply "swarm of ants" over everything.

The 'Vote to Kick' feature isn't exactly well-documented or very accessible.
Not to mention it's also open to abuse.

How would YOU like to be a newbie who's not be "the most helpful" on an ill-explained and ill-lead trial who gets booted off within 5% of the end boss(') HP and essentially is being told they get nothing?

As to the rest, I more or less agree with everything.
  16. Jump Kick: Skip it

Combat Jumping: Nice for shoring up defense.

Super Jump: Stick a slow-resist IO in there and done.

Acrobatics: Honestly, a waste of a power when you have KB IOs.

Spring Attack: Spring Attack's only real problem is that the recharge is too damn long. As has been noted, it's kind of a cross between Shield Charge (a teleport attack) and Foot Stomp (does knockdown). I have this on my Inv/SS tank and SS/Inv Brute. It's a nice combat opener.

    1. Enter a mob with Spring Attack.
    2. Foot Stomp.
    3. Judgement (if you're Incarnate) (this usually only leaves bosses or really tough LTs).
    4. Lay about with ST attacks while FS recharges.

    Congrats.

And if you think you have it bad, my brother just had triplets...
P&G's stock just went through the roof with him.

If this is your first (or your first preemie), tell her not to freak when the baby has sleep apnea episodes. She'll freak anyhoo, but apnea is normal for preemies. All the little bits and pieces in them aren't QUITE fully "cooked" yet. Including their respiratory system and responses.

Also, if this is your first, when changing the baby's diaper keep a hand over their "naughty bits". This helps prevent those unexpected "face shot" golden showers that babies (especially boy babies) are infamous for.

Yeah, you get your hand peed on, but it's better than a shot in the eye. My sister in law found this out the hard way. Even after being warned.

Also, the doctors are probably telling you this already. But don't expect MiniTurg to be home before his original due date. Some parents build their hopes up and get hurt when baby isn't home (and keeping them up nights) a week or two after being delivered. The original due date is usually a good cutoff to shoot for. Sometimes they come home a little early, but not a lot. The hospitals are a LOT more careful about it now than they used to be.

Oh yes, and treasure this time when you can actually sleep through the night. It's MiniTurg's last gift to you before exploding into your carefully ordered life like Tsar Bomba on a BAD day.

And get pictures. LOTS of pictures.

    1. We really need the specs on the PSU. Pop the side and read off what you can. Even a model number is helpful.
    2. What's your budget look like?
    3. I'd also recommend taking that board up to 4GB of RAM. 2GB is just pushing it.

Way to go Kyo! You were #2 for amount of money raised and you lost to someone with 2.5x the number of sponsors you had.

Now give your computer a rest before you step away for a snack and come back to find it doing the "dying cockroach".

You may want to double-check that power supply to make sure the replacement really is dead.

Note: Be careful with this. But if you can get the PSU to fire up, it's not a dead PSU that's your problem.

Unfortunately that would then mean "new PC" time most likely.
