My first choice for you would be Zombies. Zombies don't have to be magical. My Zombie MM is Science. He is a walking pile of Ooze (a la Clayface) that infects his victims with pieces of himself (the Zombies).
Thugs may also work. My Thugs MM is a mutant who takes over the minds of street thugs for his own purposes. An alien could also do the same.
Come to think of it, none of my MM are magical. My Robots is a Robotic alien sent here to wipe out all organic life (he is very bad at his job I guess :-) and my Demon MM is a Mad Scientist who invented a machine that opens a gate to Hell. I have't played the other ones. -
Hy-Beams was my first character and my Main. Created her when I downloaded the trial and signed up after about a week. She's an NRG/NRG Blaster because I went into the game wanting to create a Hero that shot lasers from her eyes. She couldn't shoot from her eyes but she is a lot of fun to play. She is also my first 50.
I still remember the first play session. I picked Protector because it was the top of the list and after the Tutorial, I dropped in Atlas Park. The fanfare music, the crowd of people (I guess I was fortunate Protector was crowded that day). I saw a character standing near me just take off and fly and I was like, "Wow!". I was such a noob, I missed the message about training and went right to City Hall and took missions. I think I was level 4 or 5 before I ever actually trained the first time. -
I actually like the ambushes in Praetoria. Sure it is tough on squishies and stalkers but it often makes the stories seem epic which I believe is what they were driving for.
That Crimson mission was really annoying. I just did it for the first time recently and it sucked. The guy never stops running no matter how many times you hit him and if you fail it costs you merits. -
Me too, exactly this. The problem is much more noticeable on my newer larger monitor so I think that does make a difference.
-
I want to thank everyone for their responses, it has been very helpful. I don't play around with Mids so I didn't realize the differences between level 35 and 50 were small enough that leaving level 35s would be acceptable. Any further responses are also appreciated.

I have played for a few years but have just started getting into IOs and sets and I have a question:
For players that IO out their character at lower levels like the 30s, do you just stick with those IOs until 50 or do you refresh them at certain points? It seems like a lot of expense of you do so I didn't even start playing around with IOs until I had level 50 characters. -
I was disappointed they didn't go to the second instance on Protector but some people need to get a grip. It was a special treat they didn't have to do and no one was entitled to get anything.
-
I think the problem is you are completely killing Blast Furnace. He has to survive your initial strike so you can talk to him. Once you do that, the mission continues.

I spoke to soon. while the character I had that was affected worked yesterday. Today he crashed.

Quote:Because the ATI driver update fixed an issue I was having with another program. Why isn't lowering the ATI driver version to 10.9 an option for you Hy-Beams? That is the solution.
As it turns out, this week's CoH patch seems to have fixed the issue for me. To the OP, you may want to give the current ATI driver a shot again, it may may work for you as well. -
This is happening to me as well. It seems to be tied to certain contacts, specifically Television. Some people have had success lowering their graphic settings and others have said reverting back to the ATI driver 10.9 helps. Neither is an option for me so I am waiting for a fix on either CoX's side or ATI.

I have a smokey character that is a Fire/Dark Amour Brute. Colored the right way DA looks like wisps of smoke (mostly).
-
Another data point. I had a character who was in Ouroboros. When I tried opening the arc There's a Sucker Born Every Minute, my Graphics card reset.
-
Another thread here asked about little used secondaries and several people mentioned Plant/Cold as a good combo. I have one and it saddens me that I just don't find her that fun to play. I love the concept and want to like her. Please tell me why I am wrong. Is it because I tend to solo?
-
Ha! I saw this last night and assumed it was part of the mission!
-
Interesting. My character with this issue does indeed have Television as a contact. I also have an ATI card. I have seen two solutions that may help you:
1. Roll back to the 10.9 ATI driver (not an option for me). Or...
2. Open in safe mode to close the window. I can report this works until you next open the Contacts screen. -
Thank you, that did work, allowing me to get into that character again. Unfortunately as soon as I reopened the contact window it happened again :-(
-
For what it's worth I have the same issue. I have an ATI 5870 and I have a character I can't open because when I do it resets my video card because it is stuck on the contacts window. Don't want to roll back because this driver fixed issues I had with other things so I guess I will wait until there's a fix.

Quote:I thought the earmuffs manifests as a power. In that you get a power, you activate it and you get the new costume part but either way I didn't get a message saying I got a new costume part.
-
It seems that characters that still have the debt protection power from last year active are the ones not getting the new powers. I can understand if we don't get a second debt protection but the characters should still get the other two.
-
Shouldn't I have gotten three powers when logging in during the Winter Event?

Quote:I had this same problem and found this solution online that worked for me.I am pasting it below but it originally came from here:I'd love to check, but my problem is that the CCC doesn't open anymore. It's a really persistent bug in the ATI driver releases that comes up regularly... first time I had it, but it's REALLY irking me right now, cuz that's exactly what I want to check. ;(

"my problem solved;
"solution was to clear out the Windows GAC (Global Assembly Cache). In Windows 7, you can browse directly to "C:\Windows\assembly". Sort by "Public Key Token", then delete everything with the Token "90ba9c70f846762e" (ATI's key). You'll obviously need Administrator privileges. No reboot needed either. Reinstalled CCC and it ran perfectly!
The GAC lets you share DLL's that are the same version number. If it's in the GAC, any installer will NOT install a new DLL - it'll use the one in the GAC. If the GAC DLL is corrupted, you're majorly SOL.
When I reinstalled the CCC, it took longer to install then it had before. Presumably, this was due to the installer copying all the correct DLL's to my hard drive. And no ATI DLL's have made it back into my GAC.
Uninstalling CCC, and then:
1. Check that (Program Files folder )/ATI Technologies/ATI.ACE is empty
2. Check (Windows folder)/Assembly folder to see if there's any files with Public Key Token of "90ba9c70f846762e" (Sort by Public key token to get a easier view). All these tokens should be uninstalled by right clicking and uninstalling.
3. Check that (Document and Settings)/(User)/AppData/Local/ATI/ACE is empty
4. Reinstall CCC"
I copy/paste from another forum and I want to share, thanks..." -
Did my first post i19 repec of my main, a lvl 47 Blaster. Took notes, got everything organized and finished my respec. While I was putting her powers back in the tray I realized I forgot Combat jumping. Oops.

I also thought it meant we can do Rogue missions in Paragon and Vigilante missions in the Isles. Dang.
