To me that sounds like they need to either change that temp power if it's so complex that it breaks when someone sneezes at it, or they need to put it at the top of their list to ALWAYS Q&A check when they are building a new build/about to issue a new in-between issue game patch.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It's a new power that shuts down another power that has also never existed before (Unbreakable).

    <QR>

I'm normally pretty forgiving of little bugs that can creep into a live issue when first released, but the bug with Black Scorpions temp power is inexcusable. First day of release and a temp power to help defeat Reichsman, who is a beast to start with, is bugged?

This is an epic fail for the Dev's IMO.

[/ QUOTE ]Was it reported as bugged during the last Beta build? Was it bugged during the last Beta build? If it was never reported as bugged since the prior beta build, it's not the devs that failed, it's the beta testers. If it wasn't bugged at all, then sometimes code just acts weird, especially in something new that the devs are trying like this.

All of the special temps except for the Dominator version of Scirocco didn't work the first time out of the gate; and even that power got modified during testing. Scorpion's just happened to break in "new and exciting ways" each patch after being fixed. I began drawing parallels to Oil Slick.

The SF is completable in its current state, just very very difficult. Assuming it doesn't break again in some brand new way, one more patch should get it. With that given, you can make a reasonable argument that holding up the entire rest of the issue isn't supportable just for this one thing.

Last night I was running the Mayhem missions for Atlas and Kings. I ran each of them twice to make sure and the second time through I purposely ran through every Longbow spawn point on the maps. Not a single Longbow called out "Stop in the name of Longbow!"or appeared to fight.

I also noticed that approaching the Vault door no longer seems to spawn the 3 wave ambush that usually happens there. Nothing, complete and utter silence until the door was busted and the money was grabbed, at which point the Hero and his/her team spawned as normal.

    My questions are...

How high does this change go?

Did anyone else run Mayhem missions last night at any level?

Did you also notice the lack of ambushes?

Is this a cross the levels change or limited to just low level Mayhems?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Known issue. If you happen to run into a Mayhem that is incompletable because the Paragon Hero doesn't spawn, please put in a specific /bug report; I think those have all been fixed now. (They actually put in a fix for the Longbow too, but it didn't take.)

The ambushes for side missions will sometimes show up; most times not. If you are truly bereft and lost without any Longbow in your Mayhem, I believe the Flying spawn points still work for all of the maps.

Overall, I'm not too eager to try again until I know more about how to beat this SF.

[/ QUOTE ]If what H_B says is correct, the intended way is to have a Mastermind on the team to use the click temp power which removes his phase so he doesn't get that invulnerable time, but the power doesn't work.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Correct.

Servers say they're up. But I'm not connecting at all the game.

You sound like a casual player and that being said don't fool yourself into thinking you're gonna get rich off the market as a casual player.

[/ QUOTE ] I disagree. The market is simply the most effective way to make tons of influence. Spend about 5-10 minutes a day, at most, and you can make million after million easily. Even if you just log on a few days a week you can still make tons of influence, it will just take longer.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    I agree.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
There was a glowy next to the machine, but it was behind a laser door that repeatedly shot you with an autohit attack, and we were unable to reach it, despite Mako's suggestion that he was capable of slipping past it =/

    [/ QUOTE ]
Mako is a Stalker. Just as you got the Scoprion special temp, Stalkers get the Mako special temp and can slip through the door and activate the Failsafe consoles. Doing so will kill all the 5th in the room.
  8. The MM gets the Power of Black Scorpion Temp from the machine which can be used to mitigate his Unbreakable power activations (the Unaffected period with high Regen)...but it's currently bugged. During beta it broke and was fixed about four times. It's currently known what is broken again on the temp so one more patch should get it. What you need *right now* to beat him is a whole lot more DPS than you had to beat him down between his Unbreakable activations.

A few questions I had for anyone kind enough to answer please: The other day I was doing a mission on on of my charecters and on the flashscreen as I was loading into the instance I had just a second to read the message. I thought I saw something to the effect that players can "trade" outfit/uniform files with another? Is this true? And if it is, are there any sites to download/upload to?

    [/ QUOTE ]
You can create a costume at the Tailor and click the SAVE button. This will create a file locally on your computer in the CoH folder that has all the information for that costume. It's just a text file and this is what it was talking about trading. As to where any such exchanges occur regularly, I don't know.
  10. I look for Set IOs with a significant margin between recipe and crafted price, moderate crafting costs, decent supply of the recipe, and high turnover of the crafted Enh. If something isn't going to net me 1.5 million in around 24 hrs, I consider it not worth an auction slot. Maintenance of sales takes around 15 min at a time, gets me tens of millions per day, and I spend the rest of my time playing.
  11. You can follow the arcs in the game using Redtomax. Not on that list is the Faultline zone which I highly recommend doing. Faultline (lv15-25) is the most recent of the self-contained zone arcs for CoH.

    Welcome to the Game.

You should see a noticeable increase in rendering detail. You might find that things like Nemesis Automatons have more filigree and such than you knew about before.

If you've got any graphics settings lower than max you can probably up them with room to spare.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Ok some followup missions then - You mention both KR and Atlas for those Safeguard missions... I did 5 scanner missions and got the bank mission, but it sounds like there is another? Does that start in Atlas since you mentioned Atlas? Or is that the first one?

    [/ QUOTE ]
That's the first one. They are generated by your current level tier: Atlas (lv5-9), Kings Row (lv10-14), etc.

I'll have to look up Spelunker and Negotiator to figure out what I need to do.

    New starter

    [ QUOTE ]
    Howdy all,

Thinking of having a start in this game but was curious as to what game i need to buy to start? If i buy the newly released architect version will that be all i need to buy to start or do i need t purchase some of the older games?

Any help is greatly appreciated =)

    [/ QUOTE ]
Note that all you need do is buy a code for the game-version you want from the online NCSoft store; you don't need a physical box if you don't want the disks.

The various versions of the game all come with little nick-nacks that are unique to it: a power that teleports you to Pocket-D once every half hour and a couple costume sets or such. These are not at all necessary to play the game, but if you want them they can be purchased separately on the website. Also, if you are positive you want the special items and that you will be subbing to the game, you can buy the game edition that they come from and get the items ($10) and a month's subscription ($15) for $20.

But yes, Architect Edition is all you need.

Did you have any questions about the game itself?
  15. [ QUOTE ]
I feel like my green "auto power" circle isn't working reliably on many of my characters, but I can't figure out what's going on. I'll control-click to put it on a power and the power doesn't start. O manually click the power ansd it starts but doesn't auto-start the next cycle. Then later I notice it seems to be working -- maybe after I zone?

Is anyone else having this? What is known about it? Fix coming?

    [/ QUOTE ]
It's been a bug since i14 Beta. They're not sure why it's doing this and since it's not critical for most characters I think it's not at the top of the bug-priority list to figure it out.

A fix will come eventually, but in the meantime you can also untarget (hit Esc) to get it going again.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Running to the Hollows at the first oppurtunity may prevent you from getting one or both of the temporary travel powers from the Atlas and KR Safeguards. And the Exploration badges in each.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Then again you can always do those missions later with a lowbie friend and if you level to 14 in the Hollows travel time is less of an issue.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Well a long time ago in CoH the order was

Start in either Atlas or Galaxy
    Go to Kings Row
at level 10-20 you are sent to Steel and Skyway
at 20-30 you are sent to Talos and IP
at 30-40 you are sent to Bricks and FF
at 40-50 you are sent to PI

1-30 content revolve around a series of "drug" distribution wars starting with Hellions, Skulls and Trolls with the Family getting involved. You start running into merc groups like Sky Raiders and more series gangs like the Tsoo, Warriors and Freakshow. The CoT is a constant annoyance and in the 20s you meet another mystic foe the Banished Pantheon. There are also a few 'independent' groups with their own agendas like the Vahz and Clockwork.

In the 30s and higher you start dealing with the left overs from the original Rikti alien invasion, the 'evil" Crey corporation, merc outfits like Malta and KoA. You also start bumping into the Prussian mastermind an near immortal Nemesis who is behind more than what anyone suspects. Toss in the Carnival with their love of chaos. You are now a big time hero and routinely get sent to parallel worlds to help unravel threats found there including the mirror universe version of our world where out heros are the bad guys.

Then the devs started to add what I call story zones which you can use as an alternate leveling path. First is the Hollows for 5-15. Then Striga from 20-30. New Faultline from 15-25. Croatoa from 25-35. And the Rikti War Zone from 35-50. Contacts in those zones give missions within the zone so little or no zone to zone travel is required other than getting the best prices on selling standard enhancements.

Then they mirrored the newspaper/broker mission structure from CoV into CoH as a Police Scanner/Detective missions. These are random, relatively short missions that'll end with a prevent robbery at the bank. Success grant some form of temp power.

Lastly they added 'hub' zones like Ouroboros and the Midnight Squad zone which screw around with time.

    [/ QUOTE ]
To this I would only add that the Hollows and Rikti War Zone both have Repeatable Mission contacts that will give you infinite missions.

Make a point to do Faultline from 15-25; that zone-story is kind of the jewel of current CoH early-game content.

    Taking a break

Take care and we'll see you again soon.
  19. You might want to ask this in the Technical Issues and Bugs section of the forums (wow, deja vu...).
  20. This question comes up every now and then for some random people. I don't know what the answer is, but it should be in the Technical Issues and Bugs section of the Forums. Try looking in the "++ Common Solutions & Posting Guidelines ++" post first.
  21. Human_Being

    Please help me!

And if the above advice doesn't get you there, try posting in the Technical Issues and Bugs section of the forums (make sure you read the "++ Common Solutions & Posting Guidelines ++" post first). They're a great group of people in that thread and should get you all fixed up.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
But honestly, play what you want. Any combination can work in this game. Some work better than others, but anything will work - pick what's fun to you, and make the superhero you wanna play. Don't worry too much about efficiency and cutting edge builds. There's folks who push the limit in this game, but the majority of players are quite laid back.

    [/ QUOTE ]
You also don't need the normal MMO-trinity of Tank/Healer/DPS. You can run a team with 8 Blasters and do just fine; what matters is if everyone understands the strengths and limitations of their powersets.

So: don't stress of your AT selection, don't stress of team composition, do work up hands-on experience with your chosen powersets.

    Brand New

    [ QUOTE ]
Ok I made a tank on virtue last night. server seemed pretty empty.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Also keep in mind that most of the content in this game is instanced. So while there might be a lot of people around, the majority of them are likely to be somewhere other than the zone maps.

    [ QUOTE ]
Got to lvl 5 then went to sleep (gotta be up early for work). But now its the weekend and i plan to grind like crazy.

    [/ QUOTE ]
If the play feels like a grind, "yur doin it rong" . I concur that you should go to King's Row and do Scanner missions. When you get the "Protect Atlas Park Bank" mission from your Detective contact, I'd recommend looking for some teammates if you don't have them already; some people that have been through it before. The Safeguards (and Mayhems on villain side, where you get to blow up cars and fire hydrants and stuff; come, come to the Dark Side.) are failable and they can be tricky if you don't know what's supposed to happen.

    [ QUOTE ]
Also I was in atlas and couldnt figure how to get to galaxy. noob i know sorry guys.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Theres a way to get there by just running through zones, but it takes a while to learn the layout of the maps and most people use the Train anyway. You can use Vidiotmaps if you find yourself disoriented.

Oh, and "noob" isn't an indictable offense in this game .
  24. [ QUOTE ]
So I know that making a blue and red SS/INV tanker and calling him "Supamon" or something like that is completely wrong and generic-able. Don't worry, I'm not doing something like that.

If I wanted to name the henchmen of my character after characters from a movie, kind of like a tribute, is that acceptable?

Example: Mercs/Traps MM, ex-military character, camo outfit and everything. The character has absolutely nothing to do with the movie that I would be naming the henchmen after. Soldier names: Blue Lou Marini, Matt Guitar Murphy, Mr. Fabulous. Spec Ops: Joliet Jake, Elwood. Still undecided on the commando.

Is this something you would petition? Would the GM's care about this?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Most of the MM Pet names I've seen are homages.

    [ QUOTE ]
Get to 50 in AE as fast as you can, and then look for a "Master of Statesman Task Force". If anyone asks if you're new, tell them no, it's an alt account and you're a 60 month veteran on your primary account who has successfully led and completed the MOSTF at least 20 times. Trust me, there's no better way for a newb to learn the game than to run a MOSTF with a bunch of veteran players. Feel free to ask newbie questions while running it, and don't worry about dying, nobody will be upset if you do, since you're a newbie after all.

    [/ QUOTE ]

For the obtuse, this is not to be taken seriously, and is most likely satire.

    [/ QUOTE ]
To clarify, the Statesman's Task Force is one of the (intentionally) hardest bits of content in the game. The Master of Statesman's Task Force is a special challenge setting where you attempt to complete it with no Temp Powers used and no deaths whatsoever. MoSTF requires a great deal of game knowledge and team coordination. If you can do it, you get a special badge for bragging rights.

Hence the "humor" (in quotes) of the above where a group's MoSTF run would be botched by someone who didn't know what they were doing yet.

With that said, at Herocon I also saw a group try to PuG the MoSTF with an intoxicated team-lead. They blew it, but they still made a good effort at it .
