  1. This is a silly thread.

But, just to go with the flow and pretend it's not a silly thread, Fulcrum Shift is not particularly overpowered as long as I can do this:

  2. If you want people to assume you're a she, you could put it in your signature or something maybe?

Well I'm not the type to hide my gender based off some other people's actions. Harassment is harassment whether it's male to female, male to male, female to male, or female to female. It's still harassment like this one poster is going a little bit beyond harassment and into stalkerish. One of those people that follow me from post to post with no helpful information to share just to cause and or add to the trouble. If want to look for yourself. Look at my past posts with replies you will see the most common person on there is that one person basically saying the same stuff in every post.
I know, but that doesn't mean that s/he or other gender-neutral terms are suddenly widespread, nor that somebody who doesn't know your gender will magically somehow know your personal preferences.

English doesn't have a good gender-neutral term ("they" tends to create awkward-sounding sentences, and can be ambiguous since it sounds plural; constructs like "zir" are not widespread in general use and tend to just cause confusion). A majority, IMX, of MMO players are male, or at least do not wish to be recognized as female since it completely doesn't matter and tends to attract unwanted attention, so assuming that any given player is male unless they say otherwise is usually a pretty good assumption.

Male privilege and etc surely plays a part too, but that's even further from the topic than the formatting thing

It isn't. I see no reason to turn this into a confrontation at all. I happen to agree with Rangle, but that doesn't make him unassailable, nor does it make it OK to attack you.

    STATE THE FRACKING BEEF!
Here is the beef: your first post is painful to read. Literally, physically painful. I used the phrase "headache-inducing" for a reason. I don't think it is unreasonable to ask that you press Enter a few times to avoid causing me physical pain. You are not obligated to do so, of course, just as I am not obligated to read your thread, but it is not impolite to ask.

You have the privilege to post whatever you want, within the forum rules. I'm not saying you can't, and neither is anyone else in the thread, as far as I can see. We are asking you to please go edit your post and press enter a few times to make the thing more readable and less painful. This isn't a right/wrong thing - you can refuse to change your post all you like. But that will severely limit the discussion you'll actually get (which is a shame, because a "powerset vs powerset" pros-and-cons discussion can be interesting, and is usually filled with good information for newer players that happen across it), as you can see by the way it's derailed this thread.

I'm not following you from thread to thread. Nor, I expect, is anyone else. The forums are just a relatively small community, and you'll tend to see the same names in threads all over the place.
  6. The Wentworth's badges seem to only count progress past the previous badge. It's a bit strange.
  7. I think just beta.

But yes, trying out powers you're not sure about on beta is easy. Buy a couple hundred 1-inf Empyrean merits from Michael, break them into threads if needed, buy iXP if needed, and try out whatever power you want. Testing Hybrid this way is tricky, but you can still do it by unlocking the slot on live before copying over.

I had never noticed that until now. Wacky.

Have you run any pylon tests or anything yet? It sounds like the damage per cast is impressive, but I'm not sure how much impact on overall DPS it will have due to the longish recharge.

No one forced you to come here and read his reply.

Either read it or move on.

Why is your posting style and method of presentation unassailable, but everyone else is fair game?
  10. When your message is difficult to read, this limits your ability to convey your message, regardless of what the message is. And when you post something in a public discussion forum, it is generally assumed that you want other people to read and understand what you said. This isn't "your message isn't up to my standards" elitism, people are trying to help YOU convey the message you posted. As you can see from the almost total absence of discussion of the actual topic, this has indeed severely limited your ability to get your message across.
I have little doubt that your post was totally coherent in your head, but if pressing enter a few times to make the first post less headache-inducing is unreasonable to ask of you, attempting to extract meaning from it is definitely unreasonable to ask of me.
  11. Ohhhhhh, I thought you were saying you had 16 total, of which 15 were spent. But you're saying you have 15 spent, and 16 unspent. I misunderstood.

Then yeah, never mind, you just need 6 tokens, which means you need to buy 7200 points. 6000, if you've never purchased points before, thanks to the one extra token for your first purchase. Either way, under $100. A couple tokens less, if you wait for your monthly VIP tokens.
  12. You don't need 6 points, you need 24. You can't get anything in tier 9 VIP until you finish tiers 1 through 8.
  13. The $100 point bundle gets you the most points per dollar, and thus also the most tokens. ~24k points is still going to be almost $300, though.

Fire & Ice is going away whenever Issue 24 reaches live, which is probably 2-3 months away at this point. So you could have 2-3 more tokens from your VIP subscription by then, and have to purchase less points.

    Yes to both.
Numbers for Super Pack 1: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=284104
Numbers for the upcoming Super Pack 2 (numbers subject to change before release, of course, and subject to some margin of error): http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=292324

For what it's worth, even on average, and after obtaining all of the Elemental Order costume pieces, a Super Pack has only a roughly 1 in 9 chance of containing a Catalyst. Personally, I got zero from my 24 packs, and only three from the 30 packs I later purchased with reward tokens.

Edit: 1 in 9, not 1 in 7. My bad.

Double Edit: Also, I've found that catalysts are pretty easy to get from Incarnate trials. They don't exactly rain from the sky, but I usually get a catalyst every few runs. They can drop in Dark Astoria too, but I haven't found them to be nearly as common there.
  15. You have to completely fill a tier before starting the next tier. (Note, however, that you don't have to buy any of the tier 9 repeatables before going to tier 9 VIP. They're both tier 9, they're just on separate lines because one is only available if you're VIP.) So you have to finish tier 8 before you can start on the Fire & Ice costumes. It takes a total of 34 reward tokens to finish tier 8, so you'd need 18 more, plus the tokens to actually get the costumes.

So if you want just the three Fire & Ice packs, you'd need 21 tokens. If you were to get all of that by purchasing points, you'd need to buy 21*1200 = 25200 points. If you've never purchased points before, you get an extra token the first time, so you'd instead need to buy 20*1200 = 24000 points.

    Yep.

Looks like you've got things pretty much right with your edit, except the PPM formula uses just the animation time, it doesn't account for Arcanatime.
  17. Interesting. Do the burn patches have a pseudopet damage cap (400%), or get the full Brute cap?

  19. "Oh no, there are too many excellent set bonuses, I don't have enough slots for all of them"

That's the kind of problem I want more of.

My /FA brute has 24% S/L resist from IOs, by accident, with just my Live build copied over. (Technically, I maybe should only claim that 19% is by accident, since I have 5% on Live. But still.) With some tweaks, I'm pretty sure I can have capped S/L resists - again, on a /Fire brute - without giving up much of anything.

I don't know if that makes you happy, but if it doesn't, you probably had wildly unrealistic expectations ;P
  21. Water Blast, set to Dark and colored red, looks surprisingly blood-ish, and Dehydrate looks wonderfully/horribly like draining the blood from the target's body. Worth mentioning.

  23. Tub Ci is an EB/AV too, but it sounds like Power had trouble soloing him too, and different EBs/AVs sometimes have wildly varying difficulty for certain builds anyway.

But uh, inspirations are your friend. Any 50 with mildly decent damage should be able to handle a single level 53 EB once.

Well, sure. "Build for Defense" vs "Build for resistance" is no contest, if for no reason other than the 75% resist cap most ATs have. But you don't have to choose between defense and resists. You can build for defense much the same way you do now, and also get significantly increased resistance.
  25. Ran a Borea and an Ephram Sha (against Banished Pantheon). I didn't specifically favor Water Jet any more than I usually would (actually, since I ran on x8, I used Water Jet somewhat less than I usually would on TFs/trials/story arcs, and spent more time and Tidal Power on AoEs and healing or otherwise staying alive). Still, I had 2-3 stacks every time I looked at my buff bar.

Getting mezzed at the start of a fight and >30s from the end of the previous fight is an issue, but the proc is still thoroughly useful: I was mezzed only once in the course of two missions, and the one time was a Sleep that hit me at the start of the first spawn in the mission. This is far from exhaustive data, of course, but enough that I feel reasonably confident in my prior analysis.
