  1. Happened to me too. It's clearly something on the compression side of things, as the two files are identical.

  3. Finally, I figured it out. DCOM Server Process Launcher got disabled. That was what was doing it. Bugger me if I know how/why I disabled that, knowing I needed it.
  4. Bill Z, maybe you could tell me why my Disk Defragmenter does nothing. I open it up, select a drive, click Analyze and nothing happens. Ever. Same with Defragment. It doesn't give an error message or freeze or even appear to take up any system resources. It just sits there.

I figured it might have been a Service I disabled, but I don't have the foggiest which it might be, as my computer works fine apart from that and none I have disabled said anything about "You won't be able to defragment your hard drive after this!"
  5. For the Overseers badge (the eyeballs are the Rularuu Sentries, the boss Sentries are Overseers), have you tried killing Overseers that are at least level 40 or higher? In CoH, they don't naturally spawn under level 40, so that might be what's causing the problem of no badge showing up.
  6. Batallion is the leader of the Hellions. You fight him in the same mission you fight Marrowsnap (I think), which is the end of the Bonefire arc.

And, really, the Skulls and Hellions shouldn't have Elite Bosses. The Skulls and Hellions are the low men on the totem pole. They don't really need it, though their leaders could have unique avatars or backgrounds.

    So, where is Michael Weis?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Who's Michael Weis?

Missing obvious jokes. Missing obvious jokes. Hey hey all you crazy blokes, who are missing obvious jokes!

    Sing with me now!
  8. It just looked like it repeated what was told to us earlier, except in story-like details. It mentions the villains ancillary powers coming from the Arachnos higher-ups (paragraph 3), the new Mayhem Missions (#4), and the Recluse's Victory PvP zone (#5).
  9. The Korean language doesn't have a plural form, from what I understand. Thus City of Hero.

And the "shapeshifting" just seemed like a stylized version of teleport to me.
  10. [ QUOTE ]

And two: ¿Why no mention about their feud with the Outcasts? Both gangs seem to hate each other for something more than simple territorial issues. Yet the origin of this hate has never been explained (at least to my knowledge)

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's explained in a round about way in the game fiction. The Trolls work for the Family as part of the Superadine distribution ring. The Outcasts work for the Warriors as part of the magic artifacts black market. The Warriors and the Family encourage their subordinate gangs to fight each other in an effort to encroach on each others territory without risking their own men.

Superadine is called Supes in the background web pages and Dyne in game. The only reference to "Supes" I've seen in-game is scrawled on the wall in the Skull Drug Lab map.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Though, since it's street slang, both are probably right. I mean, real street drugs have so many different names, why can't the fictional ones?

    [/ QUOTE ]

True. Especially since the guys on the street call it Dyne, while the people in power call it Supes. It mimics the way real drug slang often changes... Though Supes sounds somewhat lame to me.

How on earth did Atta get parole???

    [/ QUOTE ]

His first bust was on possession, his second was on distributing. His distributing was probably small time, as he hadn't joined up with the Trolls at that time. It wasn't until after he got out and became a full fledged Troll that he became the villain he is today.
  12. The article has some factual mistakes in it. Gardvord are only Lieutenant class Trolls. Ogres and Caliban are Boss class Trolls. In the article it says that the Gardvords are the highest ranking Trolls, which is counter to what the in-game information says.

In addition, I've never heard Superadine being refered to as "Supes". Normally, it is shortened to "Dyne" in the in-game NPC text.

    But, otherwise, good article.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
(An interesting method of getting around this drawback was suggested in a post by LiveJournal user bittercupojoe: the Tanker or Scrapper goes to a lowbie area and invite six or seven lowbies join his team and up the spawn count--then fights all the mobs himself. Since they don't go into the mission, the XP and Inspirations from mob kills all go to the Tanker or Scrapper in question--who can then reward the lowbies with an Influence payment or other compensation for their time. bittercupajoe writes, "An hour of this at level 45 with a fire/ice tank can easily net me 4-5 bubbles. And the newbies get a nice little nest egg to start their careers with.")

    [/ QUOTE ]

This doesn't work and it never has. If the characters are not on the map, the spawn size is not increased at all. Unless you let all of the add ons come into the mission, then run through the entire mission to spawn every enemy, then have the lowbies leave the mission, you're not having any benefit.

If you want to test this, get a full team and go into your mission on Heroic. Run to the very end of the mission and you'll find the Boss to be Lt. rank.

    Accuracy

    [ QUOTE ]
That's not what Herostats is telling me. Most all of my powers that are not slotted with accuracies are coming back with an average of 70% My Superstrength brute was 65% before I started slotting accuracies. My Superstrength tanker also was around 65%. Something is not jiving; it's either your data or Herostats.

[EDIT]: And it sure does feel like my brute and tanker miss a lot. So, I'm leaning towards Herostats being right. With a SO accuracy in jab on my brute I'm finally up to 80%; haymaker with SO and DO 85%

    [/ QUOTE ]

Are you only fighting even-level minions? No? Then that's why your numbers aren't 75%. Your ToHit rate falls as you face higher level enemies and bosses. Plus, if you fight things that debuff your accuracy or buff their own defense (CoT, Tsoo, Sky Raiders, etc), you'll hit less often as well.
  15. That really was a great event. I ended up fighting Back Alley Brawler and Synapse all night long, with a few sightings of Ravenstorm thrown in for good measure.

I'm just extremely glad I never got Thunderous Blasted by Synapse.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
From what I've gathered, the 5th Column was entirely separate from Arachnos. Then the Council split off from Arachnos, and subsequently took over the 5th Column.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Bingo.
  17. I have to add my voice to the list of people somewhat annoyed that I do not get badges for any of the TFs done before I5.

Yes, most of the Task Forces are fun and interesting, but getting groups together to do the Shadow Shard TFs are more time consuming and difficult than actually running them. I assume this was done to lighten the load on the support team, since they are usually bombarded for the first few weeks after an Issue hits live.

However, once that "crunch" passes, it would be a very nice move if they went back and datamined at that point, so that those of us who went hopping around the Shard to save Faathim didn't have to do it again to get their badge.
  18. Whenever I get a mission that includes a wave of enemies, I get hit with a huge lag spike as soon as I trigger the waves. This lag spike generally forces me to lost connection to the mapserver and disconnect, thus causing the mission to reset.
  19. The only problem I noticed with this is when you use the Vine in the Cascades to go to FBZ, it takes you to the teleporters. This is very annoying when you have a mission 1 island away from the Cascades hole on the FBZ side and want to get there quickly without geyser hopping.
  20. As the man supplying the Hamidon Enhancement and one of the judges, I will lay out the criteria for the Bio contest:

    1) Make it semi-readable. I can accept a few spelling mistakes and grammatical snafus, but simple things like a lack of punctuation in its entirety or no capitalization will make me ignore your bio.
    2) Be somewhat original. Yes, I know that people love their demons that rebelled against Satan and were kicked out of Hell and now save people on Earth. However, I want to read something that I can't find in 50 other bios in Atlas Park.
    3) This is a costume/bio contest. So, having a costume that works with your bio will probably get you bonus points.
    3) Of course, the winner is subject entirely to the judges' whims. Whatever we happen to like the best will be the one who wins. Don't be afraid to be funny, don't be afraid to be serious. Neither type of bio will sway us one way or the other, as long as it's well written.
    4) Bios must be In Character, naturally.

Oh, and the Hami O will probably, perhaps be a Dam/Acc unless I don't manage to get one in the coming two weeks. I'll try to hook the winner up with a Hami they can use/will one day be able to use.

  22. Yes, it's live. I have two Dam/Rng in my Headsplitter and it's like sweet, sweet joy. I can easily fit 4 mobs in the cone and I get a distance of, like, 20 feet or so.
  23. Hey States, run a game at GenCon and I will maim people to get to it. I can't do Origins though, I only have enough money for one RPG splurge a year. Bleh. *needs to get famous*
