Lol you people need to get wiht the program Although there hard to find I Already got Kraken,Adamastor, Freedom Phanlx and The Atlas Medal and all that stuff. Plus I'm only 36 (but I am a Big Badge Hunter so i guess thats why) Thanks a ton posi now i can get my believer badge YAY!!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

At 36, you must have had some higher level teammate help for the Fake Nemesis (needed for Freedom Phalanx). I'm ok with that, just want to be sure that other less-knowledgable players understand that a 36 or lower would have an almost impossible time getting the 100 Fake Nemesis solo.

OK, this is just one example of why our devs at CoH are the best around. Whether or not you agree with everything they do, they DO listen to the players and look into things and change where they feel it is necessary.

    Great Job Pos.

a Defense build absolutely depends on the enemy missing his attacks!

    [/ QUOTE ]

And the new DamResist inspirations will help reduce the damage for those times that the attack gets thru the defense. Yes, they are not large resists (and shouldn't be, they are just inspirations, not primary powers), but they are helpful and could be just enough to prevent being one-shotted by the attack that gets thru.

From Statesman's recent interview on Eurogamer, it looks like some of it is slated for I6.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You mean whenever States puts down his hand-held and stops fighting 64-bit bosses? Whenever States says ANYTHING I just roll my eyes. He is clueless, and a liar to boot. His team just nods and goes with whatever he says, whether they just don't disagree with him or are allowed to. It shows in the absolute lack of quality in the game.

They added a graphic to the water in Issue 5. In door missions (ie caves) it looks like crap. Good job team!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Gee, calling someone a liar... just flat-out saying he's a liar. That's the way to get respect... NOT!

So, don't pay any attention to what Statesman says, he's lieing... right?

There will NOT be any Damage Resist inspirations in the near future, he was just lieing... right?

There will NOT be any PvP between CoH heroes and CoV villains, he was just lieing.... right?

You can't trust a word he says, he just a liar.... right?

There is "absolute lack of quality" in the game. That's why there are 160,000 subscribers, because that's all they could find who would pay for "absolute lack of quality"? No way it could be because overall, it's a great game... not possible???

Jeez, what a bunch of whiners. They offer you a FREE add-on for pre-ordering and you all complain about what they give you.

It's FREE!!!! Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It is not free. For something to be free you need to be able to get it for nothing. In order to get these items you must make a purchase. Therefore they are at no additional cost. This is a marketing ploy to encourage pre-order sales. It is ignorance to see it as anything else.

A gift is free. This is not a "gift horse" because the pre-order is a prerequisite. This is a marketing ploy.

Free may be one of the most abused words in retail. Buy X get Y Free! No, get Y at no additional cost. If Y were free, I would get it for nothing.

If you lookup the definition of the word "free" you will see it is without restriction. Since the restriction is a purchase, it is not free.

Would this constitute a PSA? "The more you know."

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ahh, semantics, the meanings of meanings.

Ok, so it's not "free", it's "at no additional cost". And, yes, it's a marketing "ploy" to encourage early purchase. Many companies do "marketing ploys" by offering things "at no additional cost". It's a common thing. Buying magazine subscriptions usually mean that your cost-per-issue will be less than if you just bought them one at a time each month (week, quarter, etc). You gain by paying less and the company gains by getting your money sooner (so they can use it sooner).

In this case, NcSoft gets your money sooner and you get an additional costume item. It's just part of the "free enterprise" economic system. Company offers a product and consumer has the choice to purchase or not purchase the product.

If you don't like the helmet choices, don't buy the pre-order. Of course, in this case, buying it after release will not save you anything (unless you wait about 6 months or so for the price to drop).
  6. Jeez, what a bunch of whiners. They offer you a FREE add-on for pre-ordering and you all complain about what they give you.

It's FREE!!!! Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
  7. Wow, you guys just don't quit, do you?

With the new fear effect that already made Burn next to useless (other than immobilization resist), now you add insult to injury by these changes.

If (I hope it's "when", not "if") you return the fear effect to I4 conditions, then this change may have some validity. Otherwise, Burn has no usefulness.

Spend 2-3 seconds animation time to get 1 or 2 tics of single digit damage before they all run away (and can't be taunted back in), all the while taking incoming fire..... I don't see any use for that.

To make this change valid, return the fear effect to I4 levels.

Here is a link to another respec guide I hope you will find helpful.

  9. Planescape Torment was one of the best RPG computer games ever. Great storyline and interesting, fun characters (loved that floating skull guy).
  10. Grats to me on 50. (a few months ago)

    So, who am I?

    Who cares.

Oh and ... Grats Matches, and Polaris, and (this could go on forever).....
  11. All I gotta say is, WHOA.

Thanks Cuppa. Even if one is not looking for work in the computer game industry, this guide gives every one of us a little better understanding of just how much work goes into producing a quality game.

We game players just plop down our $50 (or whatever), pay our $15 per month and just enjoy the game, never realizing just how much work goes in to making this happen.
  12. Between all the whining, ranting, praising, hating, loving, flames, constructive comments, etc that go on here, and all the changes, add-ons, deletions, nerfs, improvements, added content, etc, - IT'S STILL A GREAT GAME.

    Keep it up.
  13. Much better than the original porposal. Especially the part where when on a mission map, none of this applies. Sounds like that when on a mission map, the current rules apply (not these new changes), except for the dead for 1 min part?

I hope the dead for 1 min part also does not apply on mission maps. I have been in many missions (especially with large teams) where someone goes down and can't be rezz'd/awakened for over 1 min due to the proximity of the mobs and have to wait until the fight is over or nearly over to be rezz'd/awakened.
  14. And nobody has yet mentioned the Satanic What's-his-name?

(oh, I guess I just did)
  15. I remember taking a week (several hours playing time a day) to get my first character to level 5.

I remember when Boomtown was the place for hunting teams 15-20 and when it actually had dozens of heroes there by the gate begging to get on teams.

Also nice to see you adopted the winning entry of the Statesman avatar contest as your avatar. Looks great.

    Quick update...

Check the thread titled "Statesman Avatar Results" (or something similar to that) in this forum.

    Welcome back Statesman.

Here's a screenshot, to let others decide how they'd interpret the phrasing: VIP Badge

    [/ QUOTE ]

The celebrity badge says something to the effect that you will be pursued by the media because of your exploits. Well, I have never (in game) been pursued by any media reporters. Its just a "game flavor" thing. Same with the V.I.P badge.
  19. [ QUOTE ]

    Powerslide

This power forms a frictionless field of energy beneath the user that allows rapid transit while close to the ground.

A free travel power for those willing to spend the money is an advantage over the other players. I've been very disappointed about the DVD release because I feel that if I do not purchase this expensive "extra" then my characters will not have the same options for customization as everyone else.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Powerslide is a substitute for sprint. When you turn one on the other goes off. You can put a run speed enh in it just like sprint. You travel at the same speed as sprint (assuming equal enh's) with the same limitations (still have to jump over fences, etc).

It is just sprint without the moving legs and with the pink glow around your feet. It gives NO in-game advantage over any hero without it. It is all cosmetic (it is fun to play with and looks neat, though).

It also takes another spot on your powers bars. Seeing as how many high-level heroes cannot get all their power buttons on the 2 visible bars anyway, this is a disadvantage.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
That's my problem. New update, and I want to create a new hero to see all the stuff they stuck in the game.

"Oh look, there's a new mission at 5th level!"
"Hey, this storyarc now has a new map tileset!"
"Yay! The new zone has new missions for it!"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Exactly. You will stay (I don't mean Pep_Cat specifically, just any player with this same feeling) and make a new hero instead of quitting.
In the business world, that's called:
Keep giving them a reason to continue to purchase your product (or in this case pay the monthly fee).
  21. Yes, be VERY careful which order you re-choose your powers in a respec. They will be treated as if you got them at those levels (in the order you choose them). When you Exmp, that's the criteria used to determine which powers are inactive when Exmp'd.

I have personally Exmp'd a few times to eliminate debt. It works real well. Lvl 30 Exmp'd down to 24, eliminated 5k debt in 30 min on a lvl 24 mission (and had fun doing it). After debt gone, it all goes to Inf.
  22. If you want to do the aura mission only at minimal risk (and practically no xp), there are easy prey mobs (except for possible ambushes) available.

Freaks along the road west of the FF tunnel in Talos.
DE's at the shoreline below and just east of the gate to TV in IP.
Rikti Monkeys in Crey's: enter Crey's, immediately turn right, they are up high in the structures near the corner of the walls.

These mobs will be mostly grey to a lvl 30 so little or no XP but easy pickings.
  23. [ QUOTE ]

CoV isn't even in beta. It's not time to talk about the pricing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Exactly, lets all wait until it gets closer and NcSoft announces their final pricing policy for CoV. No use getting all excited or angry about something that hasn't been decided yet.
  24. I exemplared for the first time last night. My 30 Emp Def had 14k of debt. I joined a team with a 24 blaster and a 24 tank, they exmp'd me to 24. We did one door mission (of theirs) and two streethunt (kill xxx tsoo) type missions. All told about 1 and 1/2 hours of time. These were friends so I enjoyed teaming with them. At the end of the time, I had only 3000 debt left. Seemed worthwhile to me.
