    Don't dismiss /FA. The two shields are easily as good as Regen's Integration and you get the biggest and quickest self-heal in the game with Healing Flames. Not to mention easily softcapped Fire Resist, plus an awesome self-rez.

  2. I soloed Chimera AV recently with my fire/sd and he melted like butter (I did it in the hero's Hero's Orbous) No inspirations or temps

    I beg to differ, /dark is by far the worst set I've tried. My willpower, regen, and fire characters were never this bad. And if it actually takes SO's to make the character playable...sheesh.

    Note that I'm not disputing it gets good later. I know it does from other scrappers I've played with. I'm just making the point that from my perspective, the set blows hard at the very low levels. I'm sure once I get the self heal it will get a LOT better, but until then.....yeah.

    [/ QUOTE ]Your /regen was good pre-SOs? The only thing good about it for me pre-SOs was that I wasn't sucking wind. Hell, she hit the floor more often than my *blaster* did pre-SOs. It's quite simply that your defenses aren't fully developed, and you're rushing into melee because all your attacks are melee attacks.

    And if you think /dark is bad pre-SOs, don't even *bother* with /SR or a Warshade.

    I did not even turn on my toggles on my dm/sr when I leveled him I just took a few dirt naps and kept moving along like my other scrappers

    FM/SD was not hard coming up with softcapped build now the cost while lets say that is a different story

    I have a FM?SD soft capped with out tough weave which was a little trickier and I made a couple small sacrifices one was the amount of global recharge in my build so my attack chain dps by pure recharge is down yet overall it is still good because with AAO + Assault and the + damage I got from IO's I hit over 40% + damage for 1 target so I have soloed Marauder and Chimera with No inspirations so I was able to take out 2 AV's solo with the less global recharge chain.

    Tough +weave makes it a little easier to cap than Manuvers and assault
  5. I am disappointed people keep telling me that I should only play there MA arcs because they spent so much time making up a story.

    I have not read one scrap of the stories there is no draw for me there sorry if I want a story I will go read a book. I mean I have read hundreds of books and if I want a good story I freakin go read a book. When I log on to the game I want to beat up on stuff get my new shinny and move on that is fun to me.

    Sorry your idea of a good arc does not even come into my realm of what I would rate as fun.

    Most people use Phalanx fighting for the 3.75 defense buff to all three position and now you have a place to drop a kismet or a lotg in your build

    i've always liked that myth myself. That's what really surprises me: people still believe some of these myths even though they can now view the actual numbers for powers in game and even monitor character stats as they play.

    If I recall correctly, once upon a time this WAS true because Defenses of multiple types would stack. That is to say that because Dark Melee checked against Smashing, and Negative defense types if the foe had Defense to both, they would both get applied against the Dark Melee attack (This applied to other split-damage types, such as Energy Blast). This was way back during i1, or i2 though, I forget, the devs then fixed it so it would only take the highest ever.

    For the most part, the only time this would become an issue was against Sky Raiders, and the CoT Bosses with Dispersion Bubble (as that was the dispersion bubbles, at the time, were the only shields that gave multiple types of defense at once that NPC's had access to).

    I'm sympathetic to the OP, but I think this is skewed. I was in closed beta, and I can tell you my own impression was that the beta testers were concerned with stories foremost and only looking for exploits "on the side".

    Honestly, I think we the beta testers dropped the ball on this to a large extent. We should have been more proactive in searching out reward rate outliers and warning the devs about them.

    There where post all over about this I read the open beta post and open beta post when they opened the forums it was every where and people where saying this will get nerfed and that will get nerfed. I knew it was coming you could see it a mile away with the post on the boards.

    You realize DM/SR and Fire/sr and several other /srs have cut through AV/s with no issues heck Werner done like 23

    For shiled to do AV's take a very expensive/farm buidls I done it with my fire/SD and killed 2 AV's no inspiration or temps and I do not have a tough weave build. It was not cheap buy any means and I gave up some stuff to get there

    That's your call but I can tell you honestly that even without the boards I would have recognized that hyperinflated XP and tickets were going to get smacked down on and down on hard.

    I think it was more about the attitude of the devs and the tone that turned people off. He even tried to change his map up so I do not think his looking just for cheap rewards was the issue.

    You fail to see the forest for the trees when you treat a customer with a hostile attitude for your shortcomings in design. They are just going to go some where else.

    It is not about the nerfing of the rewards; in fact if the devs would ever listen in beta most this would have been avoided you know the 500 post telling them that this was going to happen.

    Which is why I no longer beta for COX they ignore to many red flags and fail to address them and it goes live and they act surprise when people are unhappy with the rash changes right after release. You also throw out a threating message.


    In fact it went over so bad they had to start leaking going Rogue stuff to sooth the player base


    Sorry big ball dropped by the Devs kind of like the purple patch and the AV's and the overly insane regen buff going live and being rolled back
  11. I have one that sk everyone to 47+

    It will have an AV or EB depending on group size and level settings
    You have an ally to help with AV if you free them 1st did that for solo or small groups

    It has no custom critters; a single large outdoor Carnie residential map and has a variety of bad guys to fight

    The requirements to complete are defeat the Big Boss, rescue ally and rescue a few captives

    Farming is not an exploit or they would have banned KTF farms of the past; Heck i still farm Posi solo and that is not banned yet here we go I farm it. Speed ITF farms been on a few of those. Family farms ?

    You can put the AV in and still not have to fight him uncheck the required to complete mission in the settings
  14. Illusions sucks that early yea it is safe but without phantom army it is just mind numbing bang your head against the wall slow

    I done it solo with an ill/rad the most fun is my fire/mm fire ball + phych scream and fire breath when you can kills a lot of stuff

    for the record, I quite often pick up the leadership pool, and have recently rolled a Night Widow in prep for 'going rogue' as it'll be a Scrapper-with-multiple-Auras/Team-buffs,

    Granted, it also seems an easy fix, make it grant a small bonus to self, something comparable to weaves 3.75%, and all of a sudden it would become a must have.
    Which would also help the set be more comparable to most other secondaries in terms of survivability.

    it already does give an unenhanceable 3.75% buff to self if you are skipping the power you are robbing your self of no endurance cost defense equal to unslotted weave and more than manuvers

    Earlier tonight i was playing along side a shielder as my earth/sonic/earth controller. He pops on both Grant Cover AND Maneuvers, and asks, "Check your defense for me." If i recall right i was sitting at 20% or so to all but Psi. I turn on my APP shield and my smash/lethal is up to 42% or so.

    I tanked the next group of Warwolves without controls. :P


    Also, the -recharge in it is worth so much just by itself. I HATE when i get hit with -recharge.

  17. A Hero's Hero has a lot of AV's it is a lvl 46-50 Orbous mission as well.

    Chimera; Shadow Hunter, Black Swan etc etc there is like 15 AV's if i remember correctly

    You're wrong on both counts. The stun in OG is set to not stack so, no matter how much you increase the duration, you won't be able to stun anything but a minion without some outside help. Secondly, OG is not a "chance to stun". It is simply a stun with normal accuracy. If it hits, it puts the stun on them.

    when I said "chance for stun" I was referring to any proc placed in ythe power, not OG's effects itself.
    Which is more liekly because I misread the original question and am up way past my bedtime than anything else.
    I know a number of other hold/stun/fear type powers can stack the mag of mez, so it's sort of a pity that that isn't the case here, it's also why I'm not a fan of the power itself, anything that will be mezzed by it won't live long enough to be a problem, and anything I do need to mez is going to resist it anyway.

    From the perspective of someone who has PvP'd across many MMOs much more PvP-focused than this one, PvP in this game was broken before and it is broken now. They just exchanged one set of problems for different ones. Last time I subbed to this game was about a year ago, I remember going on the forums asking for a good melee build for PvP and the general response was "LoLmelee". With movement and slows in the state that it was before it was just overkill, go ranged or go home. So they nerfed slows to oblivion along with a lot of movement in general, and melee dominates now.

    I'm not really sure they can ever balance PvP in this game because it is inherently broken, because it wasn't a part of the equation right from the beginning. I wasn't around in this game's first days but from what I understand, there was no PvP at all until CoV was released. None. Zero. There is the root of the problem right there. The devs simply don't give a damn about PvP, it's not what they're passionate about, and they obviously don't have much experience with it. I'm really not sure what they could do at this point to fix it and I'll leave that up to people more knowledgeable about this particular game than I.

    It was brought in the arenas starting I4 a complete and utter failure it was a shoehorn attempt to make pvp work. This was before COV and ED and global reduction. Talk about broken it was even worse back then with COF use to rule in PVE because of the 95% acc on it at the time and mage 3 fear and no fear resistance for most builds in those days. Spectral terror was also another one etc.

    Maneuvers is a better overall power due to the larger radius grant cover does give debuff resistance to the scrapper but still it is a pretty overall sad power for a scrapper

    regen is a subpar posi because of the slows gerr thy suck and hrt the recharges of recon and dp also make sure you carry a couple breakfress for the rumble mages

    Oh and I have and do solo posi all the time done it with scrappers and blasters

    Well, having come back to the game after 4 issues away, with the help of the people here I decided to dust off an old lvl 25ish BS/SR scrapper and start ramping him up.

    He's lvl 40 now and I've been having fun (wow does the set ever bloom in the 30s), so I'm starting to think of what the tweaked-out lvl 50 version of him is going to look like.

    For the time being, I'm going to need to do it on a budget (I've only got maybe a couple hundred million inf around so I'm going to need to learn to play the market to get this toon perfect), but I want to be working productively towards a clear end goal of what he will be once I've put a billion inf into him. That way I won't needlessly waste resources on sets that I'll later discard. I think AV soloing is a decent benchmark to know you've got a very strong single-target build (which is what this toon is intended for - I have a 50 spines/dark for farming type stuff), so I want that to be my "ideal" end goal.

    Does anyone have an example tweaked-out Mid's BS/SR build that I can use as a starting point to design my "ideal end goal"? Some of the questions I'm wrestling with are:

    - How much recharge do I really need? Should I be building towards perma-hasten?
    - How much secondary mitigation do I need? Should I be slotting for +regen and/or getting Tough? (seems like Weave is likely to be overkill)
    - How should I slot Aid Self? I'd like to grab the +recharge in Doctored Wounds, but then I only get 1 -interrupt...

    Appreciate any help.

    Recharge on Broadsword I am not sure of the % but you will need it I will let the attack chain expert help you there

    On /sr tough weave is not overkill for AV soloing you have to reach the 45% to all soft cap defense that means melee; ranged and AOE with out it you might as well bang you head against the wall most times

    After that softcap defense you will need quite a bit of + reg or aidself both work it is a preference thing at that point and what you feel like you can do with your build.

    For instance on my fire/sd I had no choice but to go aidself because of the way he was built but I already took out Marauder and chimera with no inspirations or temp powers

    Make sure you get Mid's hero builder and plan out your IO's
