Quote:AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA ****gasp**** AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!This thread demonstrates why I could never do a job that involves me interacting with 'customers' in any way shape or form. I'd end up in jail.
I did it for 20 years...and survived *puts straightjackect back on and blows spit bubbles* -
OMG...I see it and still don't believe it!!! Makes Wonderland look like Pleasantville! On a brighter note, if anyone can help you it's the brilliant minds here. Take their advice, Grasshpper, and you will learn.... -

It is actually possible to upgrade your 7900 a bit with a 7950GT AGP card

And a new 7900 is stall available

The 7950 looks promising, especially if it breathes life into an older system like mine. (Sure a lot leass expensive than a new computer that I can't afford anyway LOL.)
There is even a decent Radeon card for those wwho don't care for Nvidia.

He is one mean, nasty hard to beat bastage. Haven't been able to solo him yet with any of my toons. I will keep trying though.

The Geometry Buffers are in the game, and sometimes can cause fractels if enabled/disabled. If you don't have SP3, I'd get it. My 7900GS has been quite a workhorse, and I am very happy with it. (Good thing, too since I sure can't afford a new gaming system at this time LOL.)

I am really amazed by all the different experiences with this issue. I have an older puter that stiill has an AGP card, and the game looks beautiful..especially the water. (It reminds me of Oblivion, which still blows me away.) I was sure that I'd have problems, but was totally wrong. Go figure.

Stef, I think 4 years qualifies you as a vet.
You love this game or you wouldn't have stayed all this time. LOL...hence the frustration. I think we all get kinda spoiled because MOST of the time things work as they should and we expect it. Funny, isn't it..it's like real life when you lose the phone or tv sevice for a while. Almost the same annoyance factor.
-
Ian, what do your Nvidia control panel settings look like? I know in CoH the Geometry Buffers setting can sometimes make a diff. Could you post you cpl settings? The last time I saw those 'kaliedascope' fractals in games, my card was dying. How are your fans functioning?
-
Stefanie, please don't be upset. I have been around since Issue 1, and problems always get fixed. I know it's annoying, but just hang in there. Sometimes the devs will take a feature down for a bit to tweak it so it will work better. After 6 years, I'd consider myself a vet..and ttrust me, WoW is the last place I'd head for. (Tried it, disliked it.)

I noticed that the npc's standing IN the furniture was pretty much fixed...
Now I hope they can fix the 'surffing' npc's who are running for their live, arms up and legs frozen. -
I am so glad you got the driver updated!! It should help a lot!
-
I have the 7900GS agp card and had no problem d/l the 197.45 driver. (I always remove all traces of the old while in safe mode, using a driver cleaner...then install the new one.) My game looks awesome, even though I can't crank up every UM item. From what I have seen here on the forums, my old puter works a lot better than some newer rigs. I have WinXP-SP3...I keep the background programs to needed stuff only, keep temp files empty, defrag often and don't run my anti-virus program ONLY when playing CoH. (Trend Micro) According to the Nvidia site, the 197.45 driver is the one to use on the 7900GS card. Have you tried re-downloading the latest DirectX ? Hang in there and you will solve your problem. Good luck.

FitzSimmons=SMART for discovering this, and solving the problem!

Here is something that might help those with Nvidia cards. There is a specific setting in the control panel to try and see if it makes a difference.
-
I know..I hate that the Ninja Braids are missing...I already had to loose it on one toon cause the tail was more important. The thing is, that hair was part of an extra perc that we paid for. I have hope that it will get fixed.

You do not have to buy a driver detective or any program like it. The best way to install a new driver is to uninstall it, meaning all traces. Here is how I do it, and don't have problems.
1. Find the latest driver and download it to the desktop.
(Looks like you have a notebook, and your driver is here
http://www.nvidia.com/object/noteboo...7.16_whql.html
2. Uninstall the old driver. When the reboot prompt comes up, click OK.
3. When it starts to reboot, tap the F8 key over and over..this will bring up a menu that allows you to get into 'safe mode'. Arrow up till till you can click on Safe Mode. (Don't let Windows install anything...close the prompt if it comes up.)
4. As soon as you are in the Safe Mode Desktop, use a driver cleaner to erase all traces of the old driver. I use Driver Cleaner Pro, but there is a really good free one called Driver Sweeper here:
http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/
5. As soon as this is done, reboot to the regular desktop, and again, don't let Windows install anything.
6. Now install the new driver sitting on the desktop. You will probably have to reboot again, then you can fiddle with the settings in the control panel.
A couple of other things that you might find helpful...keep your unneccesary 'behind the scene. programs shut off. They are resource hogs. (If you aren't on Yahoo, why have it running in the background?)
Defrag, especially after a patch/update to CoH. Keep temp history folders cleaned out. These are simple things that can really help. -

I posted pics of the bent wire looking snakes in another thread, so I understand what you are saying. They are zigzag till you get close then get round as you near them.
-
The only time the contacts look 'pinched' to me is when I actually click on them and their picture pops up..they are squished a little to the left. On my regular contact window they are fine. I have noticed a change in the snakes, villainside. They look llike bent wires till you get a certain distance from them then their roundness fills out.
My character detail is set at extra high, 200%, so it's not that.
I also wish the caves would lose their sharp angles. Looks so 'cheapy game' compared to how awesome the detail is in the rest of the game.

well then, I can be pretty sure that it's not us, but something in the pigg sound files causing this. Interesting.

We has the mountains, we has the rivers and lakes and woods and deserts (Eastern portion) and rainforests and ocean.........best of all we has my wonderful family!!! We has it all. It's easy being green.
