  1. The Chick points out where all those Hollywood scientists and mad geniuses have been going wrong for so long.

    Click it here!

WARNING: The unexpected blast of music that accompanies the bit about SCIENCE! accidentally unleashing the zombie apocalypse is rather annoying and will most likely drown out pretty much anything she has to say on the subject, but you should be able to get the gist of it.

And, relevence! She references both the first Spider-Man movie and Ang Lee's Hulk early in the vid.

  3. Latveria.

That's right, Dr. Doom's villain lair is AN ENTIRE FREAKIN' COUNTRY!
  4. I actually remember a Superman Annual from back in the days of energy-Supes, where Lois and most of their friends were captured by... someone (I forget who), and Clark had to stage a rescue attempt without changing into Superman and using his powers. He actually managed to be kinda badass as I recall, but then again he's still pretty physically fit even without his powers.

We've also seen that most of Earth's Green Lanterns would still put up a fight with their rings drained.

Actually, there was a recent storyarc in JSA called "Fatherland" that dealt with a neo-Nazi supergroup called the Fourth Reich actually depowering everyone on Earth and taking over, and years later the heroes (and villains!) stage a revolt in spite of the impossible odds against them.
  5. Actually... SPOILERS

...it was revealed in RvB Reconstruction that Original Church was really Alpha, hence his ability to "come back from the dead" as a ghost. (Still no explanation of how Tex was able to do the same thing.) Current Church is actually Epsilon, Alpha's memory and formerly Washington's AI. Alpha (and thus the other Freelancer AIs) was based on the mind of the Director of Project Freelancer, one Dr. Leonard Church.
  6. Could be worse, people. He could've dusted off the old AzBats armor...

    *shudder*
  7. LOVED the movie and plan on picking up the comics as soon as I get the chance. We'll see if that affects my future enjoyment of the film version, but I honestly don't think it will negatively impact it much if at all.

Hell, Tony hangin' out with Uncle Scrooge! Just a couple of rich dudes enjoying the finer things in life.
  9. Thing is, Reynolds wants to do Deadpool. He's made it clear in the past that he loves the character and is looking forward to doing the movie. I know WB wants to get started on another GL movie (since they're already working on a script), but it'll be a while before they can be sure it's going to be a hit. Hell, I suspect it will be another month before said sequel script is ready, at least. I'm sure Reynolds can easily go do Deadpool, wrap that up, and go in for prelim work on GL2 before the premiere of the first one.
  10. I would also accept Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.U.S.H.

    Oh yes.
  11. So Batman and Wonder Woman FINALLY got hitched!
  12. Scion was my personal favorite of the original series, but Negation was easily one of their best by the end. I wonder if this will be a reboot (with or without the metaplot) or a continuation?

Gotta say, though, I'm not too sure about the redesigned "sigil" logo...
  13. I think Frank Miller's opinion regarding movies adapted from comics lost all weight with his directorial debut on the Spirit movie...

    Of course! Silly me.

  15. Agreed. There are certainly enough bits from the Oracle and even Diana mentioning that things aren't the way they're "supposed to be" to make me think JMS will be bringing it all back to something that at least more closely resembles the Wonder Woman we all know by the end, though perhaps subtly changed by the experience. (Likely coming to a head when she finally reclaims the Lasso of Truth.)

I'm also curious as to what Aphrodite's role was in the sacking of Themyscira. Hmm...
  16. I predict a scene in which powerless Thor stands alone between the Destroyer and a group of innocents, thus proving himself "worthy" again.

Also, "I SAY THEE NAY!!" must be uttered at some point. I have spoken. *nod*
  17. I guess final season = flights + tights time!

And... it looks like Lois is gonna be hanging out with Hawkman in the desert?

Kinda reminds me of the older series of Power Rangers/Super Sentai. Also, at least in Super Sentai, these heroes are angels. However, I doubt it'll be like that in Power Rangers, seeing as how mentioning something even remotely related to Christian believes isn't politically correct anymore.

Now, the only thing I want know is for Saban to bring Kamen Rider to America and NOT mess it up like Kamen Rider Dragon Knight messed up Kamen Rider Ryuki.
Hmm... they kinda look like they should be carrying rapiers and fencing. And hey, the yellow ranger is really a girl in this one!
  19. The six-part 2nd Anniversary Nostalgia Critic epic... KICKASSIA!

    Part 2

  20. One of my characters is probably on the "cosmic" power levels being discussed here, but I've made sure to give him a major RPed handicap to explain away the in-game restrictions. And keep him from getting on people's nerves with complaints of godmoding.

Evan Horizon is my Science origin Grav/Kin 'troller. His backstory is that, sometime before the first Rikti invasion, he was involved in a science experiment that went haywire, causing him to vanish and be presumed dead. A couple of years ago he mysteriously returned with a slightly altered personality and new powers. The basic concept is that the experiment/accident sent his mind and body careening through time and space, warping his experiences and perceptions to the point of near-insanity. In an act of self-preservation, he's forced himself to mentally regress to a certain degree.

In present-day Paragon City, he's considered a sort of cosmic idiot-savant. He seems to cause inexplicable distortions to the laws of physics simply by virtue of his presence more than any real effort on his part, and it all seems perfectly normal to his perspective. He's also prone to occasional bursts of technical brilliance or scientific insight that seems out of place with his normal demeanor. If he were to ever come close to regaining his full mental faculties, there's little doubt that he would be a force to be reckoned with, but such a representation is well beyond his current in-game capabilities.

In a nutshell: think Dr. Manhattan from Watchmen crossed with Caboose from Red vs. Blue, and you might come close.

    Random SG kicks?

A couple of people I know from one of my SGs reported logging in with one of their characters on Virtue today, only to find them SG-less. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

    Holiday Stories

Well, it wouldn't be the holidays in Paragon without another read of Ascendant's Season of Hope!

I don't know. I mean, sure it all sounds pretty good, but I'm not really sure if I believe the whole "perfect" line. If they've got it so perfect there, why are they trying to get people to come there from here? And how great can it be if the whole place is being run by a bunch of cheap Freedom Phalanx knock-offs, anyway? Just between you and me, I've heard some stuff about those guys and what they do to places that aren't willing to play ball with 'em. Me, I've still got a job to do and people who need my help right here.

I've yet to see any society, or any person, for that matter, that's truly "perfect." We are the sum of our flaws to be overcome as much as our virtues, and the idea that an entire society has collectively overcome those flaws... let's just say I'm suspicious. When someone gives you an offer like this on a silver platter, look for the tarnish they're trying to cover up.

It's not gonna work. Nope, nu-uh, not gonna happen. It's entropy, y'know, it all breaks down, it falls apart and you try to sweep it up under the rug and hide it away, make it nice. But you know. And they know. And it's just there, piling up under the rug, getting bigger and bigger until... ooh, look at that!

    - Evan Horizon, Grav/Kin Controller
At that point, he bounded off with a big smile, apparently chasing some kind of quantum spatial event thingie invisible to everyone but him. Oh, well.

Care to tell me again just how you found me? Fine, then. What was the question? Praetoria? Hmm... well, it's your money and my time. Why not? I'll admit, the idea intrigues me somewhat. Purely on an intellectual level, you understand. I have little interest in ideological squabbles of the sort that everyone else seems to concern themselves with. Still, it is an offer ripe with possibilities for someone of my skills and interests. Oh, you wanted a definitive answer? Sorry, you don't have nearly enough money to really get inside my head.
