A heavy thud knocked open the doors to the meeting room, revealling the commanding presence of Dr. Herman Oswald between the door frame. Wearing his commando green civilian uniform he was no less recognisable as the intimidating force of nature known as The Hatesman.
"What the **** did you do?" he opened with a maniac's grin on his lips, raising the corner of his mouth to reveal battle ravage dental work. It seemed Alicia's death amused him just enough that he was unable to contain himself.
Oswald strode forwards to stop at the table where the three and a head were located. He glanced at Primogen with disgust as he then turned to gaze down on to Alicia's lifeless head.
"She's dead again? While deliciously poetic, it's also entirely outrageous!" he said slamming the table so hard Alicia's head rolled over to one side. "You petty gentry fools... Why the **** did you have kill the *****? This had better be REALLY good, but I doubt it entirely from the two of you." he growled, jabbing the air at the Countess and Romanov from both hands like an over theatrical Pro-Wrestler.
"Out with it!" -
Don't be too surprised, they're probably eMailing it round the office as we speak. It was that good.
As ever Ranger, love your work. -

... Do 'real' comic books exist in the City of ... World? For example, could my character go into a store ingame and buy the Civil War series, or any other comic book for that? Possibly even the City of Heroes comic books. I'm asking this because i'm planning a character plot that involves comic books.
And that's exactly what it is, planning, thus why i wish to ask the community. Are 'real' comic books in CoX cannon? Is it fudge-able? Or is it just plain impossible / A silly idea?
And think about in-game advertising before you post, as 'real' items will be advertised in a fantasy world. (Of course its your choice to allow this or not.)
Discuss!
[/ QUOTE ]
"If it exists, it exists." (Simple things are true.)
If it's been RP'd as happening before, then it's become a part of RP Canon. So yes, they do exist, like most things.
It's just up to you to represent it well.
I personally wouldn't want DC or Marvel comics moving into our world, because it messes up continuity and immersion, but if you're going to do it, no one can stop you, and as soon as you do it there's another variable that does indeed exist. People can choose how to react to it (deliberately not reacting/acknowledging it in anyway is a reaction) but they can't undo it.
If you do it well and don't screw with anything (see: Forcing your RP on others) then that'll give people more incentive to embrace it as good RP, rather than throwing it out as world-altering global god-modding.
The Real Question: "How can I do this well?" -
[ QUOTE ]
However, since Hatesman is going to be off on holiday to probably do incredibly cruel things to animals.

((Netherwitch the idea I would ever harm an animal is an unfair mark on my character.
I'll have you know I love Animals. They're delicious.)) -

This is something I've always had a problem with in roleplay, in any and all games. Unless I already know someone at these gatherings, or an event's going on that warrants some random yelling, I lose my nerve or find an excuse not to interact and scamper off with my tail between my legs. This, of course, leads to me not getting to know anyone so the cycle just starts repeating itself night after night.
How do you guys deal with this? If it was OOC I'd be perfectly fine. Dive in, start talking, end of. But IC...I just can't do it. It's irritating and rather embarassing.
[/ QUOTE ]
Lacking social confidence eh? Everyone gets that. Fake it till you make it is usually the best medicine. At the end of the day you're a friendly role-player who doesn't want to intrude, which is exactly why people will want to get to know you when you do intrude.
Throw caution to the wind and proclaim!
"Greetings Heroes and Citizens! My name is *Captain Example* I was told that the Galaxy Girl Statue was a great place to meet like-minded heroes. I hope I'm not intruding but I'd love to get to know some of you!"
/em Captain Example looks like an interesting person to get to know. ((Hint hint someone throw me a bone!))
Y'know. =] Go for it!
You've admitted that 3 nights in a row you've ended up feeling rubbish and Arpee deprived. Is that how you want to feel? Of course not. Now just imagine if the exact opposite had happened each night... You'd feel the opposite to the way you do now! Great and Arpee replenished!
Go get 'em tiger. -
[u]Pet Hates[u] (or RP Police Unite!)
Pet Hates. Hatesman. Hey it's a play on words! Awesome!
Do you hate word plays? I bet you do. Do you hate me? Probably.
Here you can share and discuss what it is you abhor in Current Role Play! Now's your chance to step up and give other members of the community a clue without having to say it to their faces. Don't be shy with your criticisms, we won't deem you evil if you mean it.
Mine are:
There, Their and They're/Your and You're - It's a common topic for primary school kids who are only just grappling with the English language, and while some manage to grasp it, some, unfortunately fail. Forever managing to mix them up long into adult life. For people who's second language is English, this is forgiveable, but for everyone else, it's really simple if you missed it:
- There is over there.
- Their belongs to them.
- They're means "they are".
- You're means "you are".
- Your means belonging to you.
All Lower Case RP - When your shift key is broken, or you're too busy not caring about other people to have the consideration to just cap your first word in a sentence with a nice big capital letter. I might be able to understand it if the little finger on either hand didn't naturally sit above a shift key on a keyboard.
It's sloppy, lazy and when you see it you instantly jump to (sometimes wrongful) conclusions that this person doesn't know what they're doing and doesn't care. So why RP with them?
Also, every I in a sentence and every Name of Something (noun) needs a capital letter. Using a lower case "i" to talk about yourself has always traditionally been seen as a lack of self respect. Be proud of yourself, it's a very endearing quality.
Internet Speak in RP - That's abbreviations and smiley faces. No one can say "" phonetically it's pronounced 'colon end bracket' which sounds like something you'd find on the business end of a Cyborg. (I'm here all week, try the buffet.) If you want to smile use /e smiles or ;smiles or *Smiles* or [Smiles].
Not to mention, no one laughs genuinely by saying "lol" in real life. "Ha ha ha!" Is interesting and engaging on so many more levels and it's a real life natural response. While it would be epic win, you don't hear lol'ing hyenas.
Much Love
P.s. Feel free to back me up or shoot me down as you please. Just don't go off on a nasty rant about someone or something that might offend a benevolent forum God like GhostRaptor (He sees everything you know and he doesn't like frownie faces.) we can be civilised about the things we dislike. =]
Because this isn't about player hating, it's more about being free to let loose with whatever it is that burns inside your mind while educating others on ways to improve their RP and kudos levels. -
[u]The Final Hour[u]
"You killed my family! I've been living an unending nightmare of a life, an eternal storm over my skys... rain beats against my brow... and I do not stop! For I know that I will slay YOU and have my peace!" he bellowed through his teeth with a hard British accent, painting his anger with a broken gravitas.
"You have done me wrong, Monster. It was a mistake to kill those people. You've robbed me of everything and now I shall do the same to you! Your life is mine!!" his sword and medieval armour shone in the moonlight, like a mirror of the heavens.
"Have at you!" he cried, leaping into the air with a determined eye for revenge, bringing his broadsword to bare on his opponent.
Hatesman took one step forwards and clutched the man's sword in his hand, in the space of a heartbeat, he wrenched the weapon away, catapulting it through the air like a Catherine Wheel before burying itself into the wall, fracturing the concrete 20 feet in every direction like an intricate spiders web.
With his second hand Hatesman delivered an earth shattering punch square to his opponents face, right between the eyes, hurtling him across the room like a discarded rag doll.
Hatesman was on top of him before he could even blink, contorting his fingers into a claw, he slammed the Knights neck against the wall and ripped away his face cover like it was made of wrapping foil.
"Your quest is at an end." he began, as the Heroes perfect sky blue eyes lit up with an unimaginable pain, his face gradually making its way to a dark shade of purple and his repressed tears making their bid for freedom.
Cheek to cheek Hatesman whispered into his victims ear, "And as you leave this world, I want you to know..."

what is Roleplaying?
[/ QUOTE ]
Roleplaying is like Marks and Spencer Gaming.
*'Bow, bow-wow' M&S music*
This isn't just a Super Group.
This is a hand crafted Golden Age Super-Hero Justice Force, with a collective backstory of over 10,000 words per character, bristling with ripe and juicy story, intrigue and monthly character driven plot-lines.
This isn't just a Fire Blaster called "teh human scorch1"
This is the "Fantastic FireStorm", complete with a family tree, origin saga, Arch-Nemesis, social acquaintances and battle-scars aquired from the First and Second Rikti Wars.
This isn't just Playing. This is Role-Playing. -
*Digs into pocket and throws two cents onto the floor*
Hm, it sounds like you were breaking a common sense RP rule which set you up for a fall. Assuming that Miss Ellie would be able to detect any Kheldian, is sort of a lower form of God-Modding in a sense. Not everything represented by the Game-Mechanics is exactly as it appears to be in RP.
In assuming that every Kheldian would have to be a Peacebringer or Warshade, you're doing the same thing as assuming Radiation always has to be radiation. However I've used it to represent Disease Magic and Dark Empathy before., due to its Nausious Green Colour. Captain Solaric (my other Villain) uses Super-Strength/Invulnerability to represent the Light and Dark of space, Super-Strength Glows like stars and Invulnerability is Dark like the Void.
Best thing to do is to turn off Character Names and avoid the over-use of Bios. It just adds to the realism of Roleplay for one thing. You don't already know someone's name before you talk to them. You have to identify others from their looks, and you don't form dangerous assumptions in your mind before you even begin interacting.
It's like Don't Judge a Book by its Cover. Don't judge a Character from its OOC information.
I see how the Level 50 scrapper playing a Kheldian could've been confusing, but when you reach Level 50 you get the chance to merge with a Kheldian anyway so... unless merging with a Kheldian destroys all of that Characters original powers... It kind of makes sense that you would meet level 50 non PB/WS characters with a Kheldian, doesn't it?
It does also sounds like this other player wasn't planning on running into another Kheldian, and threw in that reaction for fun. Spur of the moment, which backs-up why they weren't playing the Warshade version of that character. -
While, Nerdosapiens always had the capacity for play make believe. It took a brave man to make it into a much berated phenomenon.
Rest in Peace, dear Gygax. We owe you (the loss of) our lives. -

Its a curse I tell 'ee. Each member that plans a SG for uber-powerful characters is cursed to leave the game. Beware! Beware the curse I say!

Tutankhamen's Curse? That's childs play. It's the Curse of Uberarhpea you wanna look out for!
[ QUOTE ]
Dam Hates. You and your TLF are the best villain RP SG left. Whats gonna happen to villainside RP now?
[/ QUOTE ]
Cheers Gash, but the TLF was cruising along without any guidance anyway, and it probably still is, so my leaving doesn't change anything there. What with the "Anarchist" get-out clause the group supposedly runs itself and I welcome anyone to jump in to prop it up should they wish. It's a self rule criminal anarchy after all. I'll be back sometime though, I can't stay away from CoH/V forever.
As for Villain RP, I think that was Clusterf***ed the day it was invented. But the LoRDs are still kicking behind the scenes and from what I've read there'll be pleanty of fun to come from all that.
[ QUOTE ]
Also do you still play that ExTeel you were telling me about?
[/ QUOTE ]
eXteel? Occaisionally, but it doesn't have any RP so I slowly grow tired of slicing robots to pieces with giant swords, in a sea of LULZ. It has its awesome moments, but it's no MMO. Nowadays I'm playing me some Tabula Rasa. Pistols/Walk-Mode/Weapon-Holsters/Near-Future-Setting/Armor-Paint f-t-w! -
"Hey baby, wanna screw?" usually gets a reaction from the laydees. (I'll let you decide what kind of a reaction. ^_^)
Sorry...
As for these items, you're all insane for buying them. Two new costumes and 4 new emotes should be 100% free. We already pay a Monthly subscription!
The only time buying items in game is justifiable, is when it's like Exteel. In that game, you can play it for free and use Credit Peices to build your Mecha into something that is both Mind-Numbing and Awesome. OR you can spend some money on an already brilliant 100% free game, and buy some items that will make you Mind-Numbingly Awesome quicker, and give you a unique style.
Wedding Dresses and Tuxedo's (Which we already have!) are NOT worth 5 pounds, and the developers should have this fact made clear through a boycott. Just think: You could buy a full expansion pack for another game of equal age to City of Heroes for 5 pounds.
This isn't about supporting your favourite game with a financial investment either, because throwing more money at this game in that way won't make it better. It'll just mean that more future content will be locked only for the rich and careless among us.
This is MADNESS!!! (And it will become a consistent occurrence if you don't do something about it.) -
This is going to take a serious rethink...
Basically, I can't Login to City of Heroes without extreme aggravation and I'm playing Tabula Rasa to compensate. Which means I may not even return to the game any time soon.
Seems to be proof that this idea is doomed to failure in every shape and form, for some reason. It's never really taken off for some reason or another. I'd like to point everyone towards GoodGuy's new group as a substitute for the Nomads where appropriate. Hopefully his Guardians are still looking for members, and he will no doubt be a better SG leader and I've ever proven to be. -

Others that were believed present at the memorial but not caught by the photographer that we yet know of include Rachel Mitchell (Vigilante Storm) and Cassidy Mitchell, the adopted daughters of Britanic, Major Paul Stone (Powerstone), Missy Summers (Miss Teen), and Captain David Reuther (Bastinado).
((Other characters that would certainly have attended a memorial service to Britanic are more than welcome to add a note to that effect in follow-up posts)).
[/ QUOTE ]
IC Note:
Those with Super-Senses may have thought they saw or felt a Ghostly presence at the memorial, an image of a man, roughly Britanics stature. This was GhostSpy, trying not to be seen for his own reasons. Although anyone is happy to use it as having seen Britanics Ghost on the day, as they do indeed sort of look the same in Ghost form. Same hair and height atleast, which is what you'd notice in a silhouette of GhostSpy in Ghost form. -

[ QUOTE ]
Oh and any thoughts on what the Devs would think as far as me using Back Ally Brawler and Blue Steel in the story ?
[/ QUOTE ]
I always find things work much better with compromise.
Here's mine:
BAB and Blue Steel can be involved because they have very minor character parts in the cities story and none of the RP heroes really pay much attention to either of them.
What you do, is have BAB and Blue Steel backing the SG in the same way any famous celebrity would back a project like this... They're mostly putting their names on it for authenticity, and to have the group work closely with PPD.
That way you can have Brawler and Blue Steel 99% detached from the group, so you would never have to RP them, but you'd still have them as a name-drop. Essentially, then you could just have the group working for the Paragon Police Department. If you were going to use The Brawler or Steel to give orders, it could be spoken through a lower ranking Police Officer who isn't owned by anyone.
Really, not hard. I think the difference between having random people behind it, or the Brawler and Blue Steel would be massive. If anyone's really that [censored] off about it all well, they can go play somewhere else. Just make sure you do it without trying to tread on peoples toes. Primarily, aim to have fun!
I wouldn't take any offence to a group claiming to be backed by a Signature Hero. Would anyone here?
[ QUOTE ]
Strangely enough had this idea a long while ago and left it as a free idea for anyone to take on, since I have little time to actively run an SG myself but this was AGES ago (talking a good four months plus here).
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, it spawned my favourite character, the Reformed Lost Pariah: "Found"
Who, would be absolutely ideal for this.
The problem I have, however, is being unable to login to the game until AOL Tech-Support put someone on the phone who isn't reading from a script and knows what they're talking about. (Phahahahahaha, fat chance.) So I'm only good for sporadic forum Role Play. -

After a lagging pause Zero broke his vehement stare with a warm smile. "Don't be so quick to judge Pious. I was defending myself against your over zealous friend. It's good to finally see you. Please let's not start on the wrong foot. As you over-heard I'm not here to harm anyone." he said glancing at the spire behind which Pious had hidden.
"Come I want to show you what I have come for. Why my mission is to meet with you and why I would gladly face off against the Sword of Redemption to meet you." Zero held out his hand, each five fingers spread wide, palm flat towards Pious. In the centre a Psionic pulse, visible only to the 'third eye', gradually began to build in strength. -
