Further to this post, I spent an hour or so trawling around the net, and found out that this salvage is dropped at the end of PvP zone, non-patrol missions.
Good news, and I shall go to Sirens or Bloody Bay later to test this theory...
[/ QUOTE ]
Afaik, all of the 'special salvage' that is needed to construct certain SG base items (particularly defense-related items) is dropped in PVP zone instanced missions (usually 1 piece at the completion of mission)
Iirc abberant tech was somehow easier to get, maybe even mobs drop it in the pvp missions. -
[ QUOTE ]
Surely removing the "entering a PvP zone" Accolade requirements from villains would have zero effect on the PvP game?
[/ QUOTE ]
You are right, and I support you. I just wanted to clarify the subjects under discussion and prevent false statements such as "PvP content doesnt exist" or "there is PvE content inside a PvP zone" from gaining ground.
However, I think that devs wanted to give something to 'gently nudge' pvE players toward PvP, and some of this content is added to that effect. Unfortunately the devs forgot that hero version of accolades (which were mostly created before PvP even got added to COH) dont have such requirements therefore creating a disparity between COH and COV.
Ultimately I think that the issue is not as severe as people make it to be. (note that the main issue that PvP players attack here in forums is "the complaining when trying to get this stuff and then getting killed") -

[ QUOTE ]
Well those people have no right to compain tbh. Shivans and Nukes are a part of the PvP content. If they want them, they'll have to put up with it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed, same with Exploration badges - but then again, I'm sure someone may comment that it is the same with Accolades and I disagree with that.
There's no clear line of distinction and it's easy to argue from both sides.
[/ QUOTE ]
There is a clear distinction in this case. Everything inside and obtainable from PvP zones is PvP content. Whether or not it is - or should be - usable outside PvP is another matter.
Corollary: Born in battle accolade and others that require PVP badges are PVP content. -
[ QUOTE ]
This is the point isn't it. There is an IMBALANCE issue here. The fact that Villains need PvP badges to gain certain accolaids is FORCING those players into the PvP zones, while their heroic counterparts need never go near them.
Either make both hero and villain accolaid requirements come from PvP zones, or make none of them come from them. Its hardly fair on the villains (though they are evil, perhaps they'r being punished...)
[/ QUOTE ]
While Im not sure about the severity of this imbalance, I agree with you and requirements between hero and villain versions of accolades should be similar and it would be beneficial if none of them would require PvP badges. -
[ QUOTE ]
To me, it's some of the points I'm arguing against that are the ones finding nuances. It's called being on different sides of an argument, and I'd prefer it if you didn't tar people arguing the opposite point as having a problem with logic.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok, you wanted to limit the discussion to PVP badges. That is fine. However, MaX and me were talking about the personal choice players have about getting a badge, accolade or whatever. In order to have a debate, it is good to occasionally check that we are debating over the same subject.
We wanted to point out that getting an accolade is optional, therefore getting any of the requirement badges to that accolade is also optional. It doesnt matter whether the badges in question are PvP or PvE badges, the player always has the choice to get or not to get the thing in question. -
[ QUOTE ]
That's directly related to PvP though. If you want the 400 rep badge, you have to PvP and take part in it willingly, as it's a PvP badge. It's a completely different kettle of fish to the other badges.
[/ QUOTE ]
??????????????????????????
It is a badge. the other badges are badges. If a player decides that a certain badge is necessary for their character then they need to get that badge. It is their choice. It doesnt matter if the badge is top dog or heart of hamidon. What is it with people and logic? Why odes logic escape most people? Why do they INSIST on finding 'nuances' when there is none? -

Power boost buffs the KB distance but never magnitude. I practise this by knockng skulls about 100 yds in Atlas
.
Only power in the entire game to affect magnitudes (in effect, not literally) is Domination. (energy doms dont get power thrust though)
I can try the power boost effect when I get back into the game though. I didnt use power boost in the grounded experiment. -
[ QUOTE ]
Considering your missing trust in domination this statement is no big surprise. On the other hand this is exactly the point, why domination seems not to be working for you.
If I relied too much on my mind/ primary it would be a lot harder to build domination (and PvP would be next to impossible), but with a nice mix of /psi secondary powers neither domination nor Pvp are too much of a problem. Even if your PvP opponent brought breakfrees he will notice the power boost from domination and the -recharge from psi... and your mez protection due to domination running.
PS: And you are totally right about Total Domination. IMO it´s hardly worth taking as it is since there is so much good control in mind/.
[/ QUOTE ]
I hope were not letting this conversation veer into PvP. Well. first you have psi and I dont. I dont know how good domination buildup is with psi as my /psi dom is very low. I didnt notice any particular difference though. I acknowledge that psi has better spammable ranged attacks than energy. Biggest problem why I dont like to spam random powers to build domination up is because it is a waste of endurance. Instead I spam dominate and mesmerize which are up practically constantly.
Secondly it is natural that domination helps in PvP to drop toggles. I have however already dropped toggles and held scrappers, tanks and kheldian dwarfs in sirens call without the use of domination. (all on the basis that they were fighting someone else and didnt attack me) Domination itself is never up in PvP, because you dont survive long enough.
And mez protection in domination? HAHA
If a blaster two-shots you it doesnt matter if youre stunned or not between those two hits. -

Anyone else got some control variants?
[/ QUOTE ]
I have bound pet controls grouped by type of henchman into my numpad buttons or shift+numpad buttons. Also I have the summons and upgrades in delete, home, end,PgUp and PgDn buttons.
When fighting I normally need only attack my target(1) and follow defensive(numpad0) buttons though. Sometimes goto aggressive buttons when the pathfinding bugs out. Oh and petcom_all stay defensive is in shift+numpad0. I use that to utilize the autotelport when I dont want my pets to aggro stuff on their way to me. (in pvp zones for instance) -

conclusion is that PVP players should take acrobatics instead of grounded.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah I don't think anyone can dispute that.
Be interesting to see how other status powers did against a Force Bolt 3-slotted with KB-dist enhancements with both players at L50, seeing as that's supposed to be the best KB power for magnitude.
[/ QUOTE ]
KB buff enhancements dont touch the magnitude though as far as I know. -
Not only is vertical movement important in PvP for a 'hunter-killer' type of character like a blaster, acrobatics is god-send in PVP. More important than aid self I'd say, even though you can play in sirens call without acrobatics.

If I would have to nominate a real life version of evil mastermind, I would say MaXimillion without a moments hesitation.
And by the way, he is Finnish too

I'm worried Hammerfall might be some sort of an evil alternate version of me from Defiant, judging by these threads..

Groundeds KB protection scales with your level btw so if some lvl 50 KB'ed a lvl 40 it probably will work thats why most ppl go with acro for the KB res in PVP.
[/ QUOTE ]
Tested the power thrust vs grounded with both players being lvl 50s. Brute got KBed.
Basically this is just trivia and conclusion is that PVP players should take acrobatics instead of grounded. -
[ QUOTE ]
I currently have self aid which heals 120 at lvl 23. The problem is that it does not activate very fast and is interruptible, so I am not sure how useful it would be in pvp.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well it may feel awkward at first, because it needs a bit of proactive play to use it (don't use it next to your enemy). Ie. SJ away, and when u land, hit aid self. Falling will interrupt aid self so you cant use it mid-jump. Straight after the green number appear you can jump away again, don't have to wait for animation to finish. Also, you can slot aid self with 1-2 interrupt time redux.
Health can never substitute aid self, but you can PVP without aid self. When you start to do more hardcore arena action, you will appreciate having aid self though -
Its not like that Im not having good time with my dominator, I have been having a blast with my friends rad/rad corrupter. My dom also plays PvE very safely.
What I wanted to point out is that dominators feel more *controllerish* than controllers themselves, imo, having to focus on the primary. Second I have never been very happy about devs policy regarding domination (and especially since they want to pile any good buff changes dominators are getting INTO domination and not anywhere else.)
Most importantly, everytime I moan a lot, it is because of PvP, I just think that everybody and their dog, cat and gerbil can PvE effectively, so Im not usually ever moaning for PvE changes. In PvP dominators need a LOT of attention. I guess often I don't make myself clear enough that im thinking about PvP.
LAst time I really moaned after PVE changes was before the changes to claws animation times. Which they came up with and now claws is good.
PS. Indeed there is one thing.. Total Domination needs its duration increased.. -
Yeah, actually I don't mind there being a little variety in the powers and protection power magnitudes. I was just very surprised to come across this as this was the first such case. I wonder if the magnitude is smaller because grounded is an autopower?

Hey,
Let's play with open cards, he's an Ice/Energy blaster, lvl 23.
I'm new to the game, so don't be afraid to meett a roxxor player with all the flashy enhancements or whatever else I don't even know. My character isn't pvp optimized either, he'll come as I'm leveling him right now.
Just posting because I heard you need to arrange arena fights beforehand and I can't really meet anyone willing to pvp in Bloody Bay. Tell me if you're interested (and tell me when and where we can meet).
Thanks

Hey, I can duel you, give me a call at @hammerfall or @hammerfall2. I have some other characters to try out in addition to my main pvp char, lvl 50 blaster. MM, peacebringer and controller at least at 21-23ish.
Btw, when I have said "beforehand", I have meant "before you go to arena. YOu can ask people for duels in arena channel and when somebody agrees, head to arena to duke it out
Im happy to discuss pvp and give hints and such stuff. Welcome to the world of coh pvp.
EDIT: DUH I forgot to ask which server.
PS. If youre on Defiant, be sure to join the global channel "defiant PVPers". -

That's possibly because of how I've started using Domination.
Pre-Stamina I mainly used it to refill my End-bar, as did my duo partner.
Post-Stamina we both started saving it for boss fights, however I figured we both had holds and both had confuses so could handle a boss even without domination, and Stamina and Drain Psyche solved most of my End probs, so I started using Domination purely for the damage boost - basically I use it now as soon as it is available.
I can usually get Domination up 2-4 times per mission and I feel the damage boost helps me slightly to get on par with my Plant/Thorns partner damage-wise - he still saves domination for the boss. The only time I save Domination now is when I know an EB is coming.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have stamina, without it I would class my dom as utter junk. For my opinion domination is not up often or fast enough or last long enough to make me bother with it really.
ps. and its not like I class corrupters as a damaging archetype either.. (dammit I can't believe how biased I really am to my blaster and stalker..) -

If it claims that unyielding has weaker KB protection than grounded then there went credibility bye-bye
[/ QUOTE ]
Did Power Thrust work against Grounded but not Unyielding?
[/ QUOTE ]
Why do you think I posted what I posted? Grounded is actually the first KB prot power I have come across that DOESNT protect from power thrust.
NOTHING KBs thru unyielding. Ever. Not even AVs or GMs.
