Personally, I like the challenge - you have to keep a high level of awareness at pretty much any time you're engaged in a fight, and be prepared for the worst case scenario and be able to get yourself out of it. I also like destroying someone's heavy whilst they watch from a safe distance.
[/ QUOTE ]
Awareness got nothing to do with it. To get kills I have to get close, and if those people arent moving far from their heavies theres not much chance. Getting kills with a blaster is not a question of staying in range and blasting (in which case villains will swarm and 'gank' you since you waste time). Killing the owner to get rid of the heavy is impossible because of the oneshot(naturally were only talking about brutes and masterminds as heavy holders since that is the case 95% of the time). Killing the heavy is out of the question for same reason.
If the damn things could destroy each other just as easily I wouldnt complain. But if I send my heavy in alone it gets decimated by the masterminds/brutes. IF I try to take out the owner im oneshotted. Explain where is the Player vs Player part in here?
[ QUOTE ]
It also helps to somewhat level the gap between those with PvP experience and those who lack it, to a degree, and also goes some way to even out the playing field when there are uneven numbers of heroes and villains - providing the heavies are in the right hands, of course.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah? Then how come the LOWER level PvP zones don't have heavies? You'd think those are the places where new players learn pvp!
RV happens to be the biggest thorn on my side, every time I go there I am enraged beyond anything. I don't want to start swearing and breaking forum rules again. Apparently I AM alone in my view that heavies [censored] up PvP in RV. -
Who hates heavies? Id like to have some PVP in RV sometimes like tonight in a team, having a fight with couple brutes, until bzzzt..click hospital. I mean whats the bloody point??!!!
-
I dont have other suitable characters atm than my blaster and im kinda bored at playing him. Otherwise I might join. I guess Ill pass this tourney. (I just wanted to say something so that people wouldnt think there arent any pvpers out there). Im sort of bored at pvp at the moment anyway.
-
Its either combo unit and oversight center, or the smallest generator room with the basic generator. There is no middle ground.
-
I thought of making a EM/elec but never got past lvl 5 cause I had other alts to play. Only advice I can give, is to forget grounded and get acrobatics instead. From EM the only bad power is Stun and maybe whirling hands in pvp.

That and there were only seven PA droppers as opposed to the usual two full teams, one of which repeatedly kept suiciding because he wanted a closer look.
There were more than the usual number of screw ups this time around, and pretty much all of them could be attributed to the groups on the ground. How many NON-HOLD players did we have arsing about during the hold phase for example? Ice Patch, Fulcrum Shift, and a number of Spines attacks for example were all going on during that phase when the people responsible shouldn't have been anywhere near Hami.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well the important thing is that we pulled it off.
Gen: Now I know that the PA have to be dropped to specific locations, next time I will know to lead the tank team there. In the beginning the Mitos were anything but aggroed though and my empaths were dying like flies. And when we had to keep moving to avoid the clearing group it got problematic because there were areas without PA coverage. I suspect this all was just there not being enough PA droppers
Next time I hope the raid leader - whoever it will be next time - will wait for the PA to be consolidated, after which tank team goes in, and then wait for the tank team to consolidate the aggro and stay on their feet for more than 10 seconds, and only THEN lead the clearers in. I suspect it would lead to less deaths overall ^^. But hey, like I said, was bit more chaotic but we pulled it off. ^^
The brawl phase was anything but brawl phase, people were attacking Hami with abandon and pulled aggro off me. Obviously thats not my headache but next time I hope people are bit mroe careful with their attacks.
Well, this is not a criticism, Hidden did very ok. Just bit more patience next time
ps. hidden called for everyone with holds, so it may have appeared there were lot of no-holders (well, there were) about. -
[ QUOTE ]
Just gotten back from work and heard the raid was succesful. Nicely done people.
As I understand it there wasnt any "unwanted" GM aggro after the mitoclearing or after Hami himself was defeated right? Didnt think so
[/ QUOTE ]
There was some, but I couldnt confirm whether or not it was player-pulled or not. Player interaction sounds feasible since the certain you-know-who was in the hive again talking about pulling GMs..
The raid went ok I guess, the tank team died lots, especially the mitos definitely seemed to pick on some of our members. and I DO mean it! Two people from emp team were getting constant Mito aggro if they were up, even if they wre only healing and standing right next to the others. I couldnt figure it out, but they died like more than 12 times while others were ok..
PA coverage wasnt all that great in the beginning and clearers rushed to the goo before I said anything about consolidating the Hami aggro. Next time we could be bit more patient maybe?
Anyway, thank you all participants, hidden healer, cambo, war man etc for one more HO to my collection -
Domination matches can be really interesting too because they have completely different strategy and mindset. However, they can be horribly time-consuming
Would be nice to organise some domination matches at some point because different type of ATs are good in domination mathces compared to normal ones.

Finally this forums works.. ok, I wanted to say that in no way do I want you to change the system. I think its best as is, especially if there are new players interested in PVP coming over. I was just not feeling ok on sunday/monday which apparently showed. Overall random chaos matches don't interest me that much, but I can come to reinforce the numbers so we can keep this event happening.

I know you like PvP... Fire is pretty awesome in PvE as it is great at aggro/control of bad guys. That's not so useful in PvP.
[/ QUOTE ]
This isnt quite true. After the healing flames change Fiery aura's usefulness in PVP went up like an order of magnitude. I dont think its far from being considered the best PVP tank primary.. Ice still has useful stuff like chilling embrace to interrupt stalkers etc, but fire might be even more unkillable..
It is however true that Fiery aura will require leaping pool and acrobatics but thats not much of a hindrance in pvp, as leaping is good. -
It might be that we clear the Hive pretty quickly afte Hami has gone down.. I don't know.
-
Thats the first ever time I have heard about something like that.. I ve been to.. I dont remember how many hami raids, and never have we had GM aggro that was not player originated.. Maybe its a new change, maybe not.

My thoughts are to still have a designated GM team, but rather then all 8 waiting to one side a couple could be outside the goo patrolling. When they see danger they can alert their team and take care of the GM, then return to 2 patrolling, 6 helping with mitos. I think it's simple enough, and provided the GM team leader is on TS then communication is straightforward with the rest of the raid.
[/ QUOTE ]
A very good suggestion. Have people appointed to the team should the need arise, have couple scouts and listen to the TS and raidleaders in case of problems. Other than that, keep with the Mito-clearers.
The most crucial part where we'd need the GM team to rescue us from griefers is the controlling phase anyway.
PS. The capabilities of the PA team is in reverse relation to how many times me and my empaths will faceplant during the raid, so I'd like to see some enthusiasm for forming up PA team too. Imo its the most important factor after having enough controllers. (these days lots of people have troller alts which they switch into when control phase starts, so I guess thats why ahvent had many problems on that department recently.)
Generalissimo, are you in? -
It was nice to see such a big turnout.. Thank you everybody for coming. Unfortunately such large random (while balanced) teams and inevitable chaos doesnt seem to be my thing. I don't know if Ill turn up next time :S
-
I just wish people would show as much enthusiasm to forming PA drop teams, mito-clearing teams and generally showing up with enough controllers as you do with GM-team..
-
Due to a sirens build My claws/nin doesnt currently have hasten, I'd like to have it but can't squeeze it in. :/
ps. I slot AS with 2 acc 3 damage 1 recharge. -
Although im not in high spirits Ill try to make it this time, I think I forgot last two times. Its important keeping the date and time constant so people like me finally find our way there.. ^^

I just met a person today who says that he pvps a lot, but that he prefers defiant because union is unsportsmanlike..

Any tips on other basics; such as what plot size I should go for, how many rooms etc. Also, do storage items require power?
[/ QUOTE ]
Always try to use the smallest plot available to cut back on rent. The starting plot should get you far. Usually the update to next plot is a big undertaking and requires lot of prestige gathering first.
As for the rooms, oversight centre at first, fit everything that you want and can in there first. After that you may need to work on getting real generator and control rooms for more energy/control and so on. BAse building happens in steps as you get enough prestige for next update. -
[ QUOTE ]
start up with the Oversight Centre and the basic 50k rooms, when you have enough and want to upgrade, do so in steps and with extra prestige to spare just in case. I'm not entirely sure the base editer can handle the contents of the containers very well...
[/ QUOTE ]
Note that you can always delete items and rooms and get the same amount of prestige back that you spent. You can't really do anything irrepaiarble unless you delete containers with something in them. Or salvage-built items in which case you lose the salvage. However, theres an awful lot of experimenting you can do cause prestige is not being lost. -
Is this bug btw somehow recent? I have team recently with my mates warshade, and when he goes nova he looks like he retains human form, floats around petrified in standing position tilting downward when appropriate and shoots umbral bolts from his forehead.. I didnt notice this before..
-
[ QUOTE ]
What actually is the frequency of Base Rent anyway? Is it four weekly, a specific date of each month, or what?
[/ QUOTE ]
Once a month. -
Is there actually PVP in defiant recluses victory during late hours? I think GG once said that there may be some action in there late at night, but unfortunately due to the timezone I live in I basically can't participate in it past 11pm GMT. Basically 10pm would be pushing it already

so... pretty much every kin power will root you... except transfusion. ah well, there go my dreams of reapplying IR mid jump
[/ QUOTE ]
I thought transfusion does root you, because it affects an enemy and is therefore no 'selfbuff'?
