Things that have kept me from team pvp:
1.) I lack people to regularly team with in pvp. If the team doesnt have good coordination, it is endlessly frustrating and massively more unbalanced to fight a good pvp team than fighting any duel.
2.) Trying to get the people together for team pvp.
3.) lacking the right toons, team PVP is more dependant in having right toons than duels are, imo.
Thats my take, I have rarely had any fun in team pvp. In duels I answer only for myself and theres at least a chance. -
More experienced fighters will ask your powersets so they can pick the right inspirations for the fight. Also, most of them are reluctant to go against toons like rad/psi..
-
It depends on the stalker when rehiding is a good idea. I know that in the early game it is very much so, since AS is so strong in comparison. Later on its not as necessary except when fighting elite bosses and the like.
-
Stalkers are good damagedealers in a team. People just seem to have prejudices about stalkers rehiding for AS.
ps. the placated mob should be dead in next 2 seconds so it's aggro should matter little. -
[ QUOTE ]
You could wait until the brute get 'noticed' by the foes before launching a fire ball.
[/ QUOTE ]
This equates to everything tankers do, all you have to do is wait 2 seconds or so. I have noticed some people don't have the patience for even this, rather they start badmouthing the tank. Maybe its a symptom of something. -
In defiant sirens last night there were no emps, but lots of blasters..

and a uber Rez which cant detoggle granites.
[/ QUOTE ]
You mean can? -

That said I have seen many occaisions where a capable MM and a brute fit for tanking have with ease eliminated any aggro whatsoever for a full team. Add some corruptors to the equation and aggro is a thing the opponents should be more worried about.
[/ QUOTE ]
In fact, the correct approach should be:
1. MM's pets take the alpha
2. dominator drops an AoE hold
3. brutes SMASH! None of this tanking nonsense!
[/ QUOTE ]
Theres no reason why not to start with AOE hold since on successful hold the domis wont get alpha. With fear effect like terrify they will however. -
[ QUOTE ]
Everything has a chance to crit out of hide when you have a held foe, which makes it even more borked.
[/ QUOTE ]
I wasnt talking about held opponents which Im sure you knew.. -

Costume Contest - This one is going to be based around a Homecoming Queen and King idea with a prize for each (in inf).
[/ QUOTE ]
Sounds cool, but whats Homecoming queen mean? -

Eviscerate is a Cone attack so it wont be as good in terms of damage/end/sec on a single target as Focus, however if you regularly line up one foe behind another and critical out of hide its not bad. You may say, well your always likely to AS first and so ya might. I am looking for situations where a shadow maul out of hide is better than AS on my DM stalker, perhaps if 3 are lined up, but then again shadow maul is better than eviscerate anyway.
[/ QUOTE ]
If it would crit out of hide yes, but it doesn't. Also Focus is labeled as high damage, Eviscerate as superior and the difference is minimal. During the flip I can excecute focus twice :S And I can imagine you compare it to shadow maul, but is shadow maul the highest damage attack in Dark? or Midnight Grasp? thought so
[/ QUOTE ]
Its just the way power descriptions are bit borked. Eviscerate is still a good attack because its the only one of the set that can crit OUT of hide. -

with that I can heal through things such as Snow Storm
[/ QUOTE ]
ooh.. right okay thats made my mind..
[/ QUOTE ]
Apparently healing through TWO debuff toggles like rads RI+EF is still basically impossible.. -
[ QUOTE ]
This sounds very good, cause the FoTM builds wont have as much advantage in these fights
[/ QUOTE ]
There are just different fotm builds for low lvl fights(hint: stalkers suck, just so youre not gonna be disappointed)
ps. Yeah its Calvin and Hobbes picture. -
[ QUOTE ]
Okay I agree with all but the aid self...I figure if something can interrupt you at 0.6 secs they can at 0.4 too.
[/ QUOTE ]
Erm your interrupt time is 1 second because you dont have intreds in aid self...right? And between 0.6 and 0.4 there is a difference if youre under the influence of a toggle that activates every 0.5 seconds etc. I wouldnt use aid self in PVP myself without 3 intreds these days (well maybe 2 intreds and 1 recharge for casual player), and thats not even attempting to use it under targteted toggle like snow storm or RI.
ps. a question: how many people actually finish these builds they post here at the forums.. I think pretty much all of them are hideously expensive..? -
If its for PVP, lose grounded and get acrobatics.
Are the level differences in the IOs intentional? like lvl 40 crushing impacts? The enhancement levels disturb me..
Personally I'd slot aid self with 3 IO intreds and maybe 3 heal enhs of some sort, if you wanna use it in battle. If its just there for the set bonuses its not much use in combat.
Get hurdle instead of swift. -

This was a solo test, wansn't it?
I would imagine an 8 man team with correspondingly large mobs, a Fire/Fire Tank would outdamage a MA/Regen scrapper (for instance) by virtue of the stack of AoE attacks.
[/ QUOTE ]
The actual damage ratio for Tanks v Scrapper hould be 75%. However i believe the common concensous is that its working out about 60-65%. This is based on some current testing done on the USA boards.
[/ QUOTE ]
For my own tank, its like 12,5%. Comparing that in a lvl 50 mission, my scrapper friend killed around 8 times more mobs than I did. -

[ QUOTE ]
TOo many people have i met who think they are awesome because they have a 50, and having teamed with them its a wonder they managed to get a toon to 50 and never learn what a tank does.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just remind yourself: "they'll still get to 50 even if they're at the debt cap the whole way"
I'm mainly playing a troller in the 20s at the moment and the thing that has surprised me is the number of tanks who don't have their aura when they're a few levels past the point they could get it. Doing a mass immob when the spawn first bunches up on the tank seems to be the only way to keep them there sometimes.
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't get me started on the problems with Tanking for new (To game or AT) players, it's a huge problem at the moment and is resulting in a lot of people who are playing their tanks like inept scrankers.
[/ QUOTE ]
Anyone who expects real tanking abilities from new players is silly. -
[ QUOTE ]
It's gonna cost me shitloads since recipes for some reason on union cost 500% more then on other servers but getting there.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is impossible unless you buy from individuals since auction houses are global across the EU-US as well (NOT across COV-COH though) . LotG recharges were 40 mil on defiant as well, just so you know. Prices dont really surprise me. -
[ QUOTE ]
I actually like that. How did the old Hamidon spawn?
[/ QUOTE ]
He spawned after server reset and was in the zone permanently. -
[ QUOTE ]
I foresaw this coming the moment I did a Mother Ship Raid on Test. Hamidon Raids have been replaced by Mothership Raids as they're more fun, the effort = reward and risk = reward has been balanced out more and they're a damn sight easier. I think the only changes that should've been done to the old Hamidon was the "Yellow Dawn" problem. That has been rectified, but when the Mitos do respawn, everyone dies which is what most people want to avoid. If they had kept the old Hamidon, but just changed the Mito Respawn to what it is now, I think everyone would still do them.
[/ QUOTE ]
The problem with current hamidon is the GM grind. -
I'd love to participate in this, and always have, but very few people accepted my low level challenges.
At lvl 10-15 the characters suffer from exemp code so much, that the only real benefit they get is the number of insp slots which isnt reduced. Whether this is a problem we should discuss maybe. -
[ QUOTE ]
Actually the stalker wanted a duel claiming he would beat me (nin/nin) and i told him wait for buffs to end as i had 1 fort on me nearly running out and was blinking. At the moment fort ran out he decided to go ahead and sneakily attack me, landed an AS and on the jump circle i popped aim+BU and smoked him. Then he called me cheater again and left the zone
[/ QUOTE ]
I keep hearing that theres more drama on union pvp zones. I guess it must be so. I'm hoping for server transfer come along quick so we could all be on same server. -
The only practical way is to use the arena channel to ask for matches. Only organised arena fighting is test server monday nights afaik.

30 month vet badge is called "commited", with the flavor text "After 30 months, you should be commited". According to my Webster's dictionary of the english language thats not the correct wording..
