    PVP fights at hotspots is a bad idea imo, it will just lead to inevitable debt and people will get angry..

  3. The secondary knockback power is called power thrust.

    Personally:
    Ive been meaning to ask, what exact uses do I (energy primary) have for power boost? I understand those claims for like ice or elec primary but energy? Knockback? Disorient duration? Flight speed? I dont really think improving those would make the best power in secondary..
  4. Personally I can't fault the stalkers for playing the way they do, it is obvious thats how they are designed to play. The fault is Cryptic's if there is one.

    Lets all remind ourselves that the reason for upcoming I7 stalker nerfs is, that devs took a look at each AT's kills/own defeats ratio and noticed that for stalkers it was completely borked beyond the point of being ridiculous. Thats all that matters really. Whether they require skill to play or not is really irrelevant.

    I know that stalkers are my only real worry in the sirens (I havent played much in warburg yet, since it usually is completely empty) as most other villain ATs save ff masterminds feel almost like cannon fodder to me.. But tactically the way stalkers function is very very strong, it is impossible to defeat an enemy if you don't know where he is.. If I can see and catch them, stalkers are toast, though

    I wonder are we really talking about teleporting to drones here or merely regrouping at the base.. I can't fault the regrouping part really, if the enemies outnumber you 12-1 then I don't really see the point in just running forward to be massacred.

    teleporting to drones, however, is lame.
  6. In my opinion the slottings are pretty no-brainers, slot attacks with acc/damage, clicky powers with recharge and boost range plus power thrust go well with just the basic slots.. Boost range I hear is almost perma with just one recharge. I havent got it myself yet.

    If you think of PVP, there is nothing better than build up, energy punch and bonesmasher They are quite good in PvE as well, imo.

    Power boost is the only one power whose usefulness can be debated, people use it for different purposes and I find it difficult to try fit it in my build.

    Well.. and Stun is a bit overkill maybe.

    Any such attempts of adding 'flavour' to posts on practically any internet open forum is a very very bad idea and will merely cause tons of flames..

    At least put ((in-character)) stamp on your posts or something..

    The 'break free' insps they sell as awards in sirens call for bounty won't break you out of anything, they are merely 3-minute mez resistance insps and a different breed from normal BFs. (They should be named differently though)

    Normal break frees break out of terrorize, but not -fly, -jump, slow, etc.

    Anyways, its nice to hear somebody new enjoying pvp a bit. As long as there are enough players, pvp in zones balances itself because its meant for teams...

    The problem in part of the discussion here is that duels shouldnt really be emphasized too much. The devs have said on several occasions that PVP in this game is balanced towards teams, and in my opinion they have succeeded rather well.

    As far as I understand, the characters play to their strengths rather well, and the best teams seem to be ones that are well-balanced.
    The damagedealers: Blasters, scrappers
    Enemy damage mitigation: Controllers, tankers, defenders
    Team buffage: Defenders, controllers.

    I dont mention villains because I dont know how the roles work with them.

    If you split those ATs and make 1n1 situations, it should come as no surprise that the damagedealers rack up the most kills.... This does not mean that the concept of combat in this game is flawed, this is just how it is designed. From this viewpoint, the fact that controller has trouble killing somebody should come as no surprise..(did I mention Tainted and japanese water torture before lol)

    The best PVPers propably manage to come on top even in situations where they shouldnt But it should not be taken as a given fact.

    Imo the tankers are currently pretty bad in damage mitigation, but things will propably change with the introduction of punch-voke in PVP in I7. I wish they'd next make taunt-auras work... (because otherwise Invul is gimped in this sense having a no-damage taunt aura)

I have always been interested in man-vs-man, having played fighting games like Virtua Fighter series and tekken for over 10 years now(organising an international tournament here in Finland the coming weekend even). In different varieties even, I also put my playing of chess into this category ..

    Fighting a computer AI and and a human shouldnt be mentioned even in the same sentence.

    PvE has more goals than that though, like immersive RP-aspects of the game, which I enjoy on occasion letting loose my imagination.. but when it comes to fighting, PVP is on another lvl from fighting against a computer.

    May the more experienced, skilled and inventive player win!

    Amen to that.

    I've faced AoW with my VG and it was a very humbling experience(damn those storm defenders). While it could have been very frustrating for us, it was made less so by AoW's attitude.

    They were happy to offer advice and didn't brag about the fact they toatlly and uttenrly pwned us.

    In comparison to some other other PvP groups out there, these guys show what PvP should be about.

    I have similar experiences with Paragon defenders. The Goonies had great fun in our first base raid defense against them, and so far they have been friendly and helpful, much like every other more experienced PVPer i have met elsewhere, like stalk-obot and tainted This thread can be read simply as a challenge and as such there is nothing wrong in that like I said before. This is just one form of "friendly banter" like discussed in another thread. Sure, the PDs take winning seriously, but they are after fun like us as well. Plus they want to increase pvp players and totally demoralizing beginners is not the way.

    If you feel people are bragging, they have every right to do so. If you think it is unwarranted, just beat them so show them their right place I think its the other posters here who are in ultra-defensive posture and need to lighten up a bit..

    Sure, there are people out there in the pvp zones who have heads larger than their bodies(not counting Maxi) but usually the best PVPers here are a nice bunch after you contact them directly and go through their normal anti-slander defense (I can imagine how much slander they receive for merely PVPing so much in the first place).

    Transfusion thing is unresistable I think, its very short, I wonder if its a bug of some sort. I don't think the resistances against different types of mez walk hand-in-hand, so it might be best not to try comparing them like this.

    Anyway, I don't know who proposed limiting trollers holds, the idea is pretty silly imo. The holds themselves are not overpowered. Only if there wouldnt be break frees available in the game at all, then we might discuss this and im not sure holds would be too overpowered even then. Dominators are worse off even.

    I can't remember if my tank has yet been held by a player because of stacking of holds. And if he was, he wasnt in particular trouble anyway. I have tried a duel with Talin le Thaed and Arch sector, neither held me thru stacking of holds I think, but I had absolutely 0 chance of killing them even once mostly because of their secondary, storm. I really don't remember cases of having my tank held via holdstacking, because the cases are propably few and far between and I can have that many break frees The reason I was held against Archy and Talin was because Lightning storm was eating my toggles like popcorn if I went close.

    Nothing holds me in unstoppable anyway. (EDIT: but use of it in Arena match is daft. Unstop = give one free kill for the opponent. In a duel maybe, if I can kill them twice in the time period..)

    I agree, but the fact that it is very effective cannot be escaped. I think we should just remind ourselves of the importance of teams Imo tanks need a proper buffing and possibly detoggle defense given to them. Its is primarily tanks who are suffering imo, since all other chars are effective at fighting back. There'd still be whole lotta other toggles in the game to be dropped..

    From Private's sig, I agree that good stealth is mucho more annoying imo...

    Hmm sorry I think we should all get on the same page here..
    My en/en blasters combo of Bonesmasher,energy punch has a CHANCE (albeit a small one, like %5 or so) of dropping FIVE toggles with just those 2 attacks.. Regardless of whatever mez resistance they may have. The chance is small for 5 but the chance for 2 toggles must be like 100% and the chance for 3 toggles is very high. Those 2 attacks are also very fast, propably it takes like 2 secs.. After that I have found that in almost 100% of cases the targets mez resistance is gone and I follow up with power thrust or something else.

    I remember having an experimental arena duel with my friends lvl 50 ice tank (who didnt have much pvp experience), and he said he jumped outta his pants when I smashed right thru wet ice + acrobatics and dropped all of his toggles in a blink of an eye stunning him in the process..

    So far I have had little problems with defenses considering the self-buffage of energy combo. Defense-orientated sets are of course problematic. Proper bubblers (/ff MMs for example ) are difficult, but possible. For instance I faced a traps MMs force field generator which did absolutely nothing to protect the poor fella... Wham Bam 3-shotted.

    I don't actually even need to be in melee range, since superspeed+combat jump allows me to skim past the target from low altitude with bonesmasher queued, I will land some 20 yards away and bonesmasher will hit.

    I admit Im not the most experienced PVPer yet, but still.

    Thats how it is in PVP, blame the designers for gimping the other sets..

    Note: I took part in 2 matches in the paragon defenders team as my invul/mace tank (in current pve build even with stuff like fly). Obviously the secret "enemy immobilized with laughter" power worked well since we won with numbers something like 44-0 and 35-1. Im sure it had little to do with me, though..

    As far as I know, combat logs in an add-on that should allow break frees to autodoc. Combat logs is however unlocked by the LAST healing badge (100 mil)
