While I agree that dominators have too many weak spots, I ahve some thoughts:
Damage, yes, they are weak, but it is difficult to compare the damage output to that of controller, I know trollers outdamage dominators in the early game easily because of containment, but Doms get their more damaging attacks only later in the game.. And trollers damage is less comparable after others start getting their high/extreme damage attacks..
Endurance: I tend to run out of endurance quickly, and it is in relation to weak damage; if you are weak, need to hit opponent more often, paying endurance for each attack..
I soloed Sea Witch elite boss with my mind/en dom when I got the mission..
and lastly, can we please DROP the damn soloing AVs thing? -
Tactics on your own blaster is less effective than being in range of a defenders tactics field.. A lot less effective in fact. Thus it is always best to be buffed by defenders
(assault just shortens the effect of placate btw) -
Well SB and ID(edit) everyone(or at least damagedealers) for sure, and maybe pin down targets with siphon speed.
Kinetics used to be pretty good in end draining (transference, transfusion) afaik, is it worthy tactic anymore? -

Tbh i am hoping for some serious mass PvP on this zone that targetters and field tactics will come even more in place. If that the case the toon specialization will be the next FoTM for PvP.Stalker Hunters,Targeters,Controller hunters,Flag carriers,Flag carrier guards(5 invul with superman build and taunt) etc.Well maybe i looked too much in the future and went for too much specialization but well i like this.

Oh they stack, its just that we hit the accuracy 'cap' (dont get pedantic) with less than those buffs so the extra is 'wasted'
There are reasons for alternating how you use them but both together is still yum-yum. -
I apologize to Extragonk for my recent outbursts in tank forums, I didnt want to dig up that thread so I posted here. We have settled our matter in private but I didnt want the population of defiant server to get a wrong impression of him because of my posts. He is a good and knowledgeable fellow.
(even though stubborn at times and we two will always have differing opinions
)
Lets forget this ever happened, ok? -
Hey hey, I think its great you tried to analyze what happened and make the post. I'm afraid theres still a fair bit of "we are da best" attitude lingering on hero side, and that your post was seen by somebody as a an attempt to save face, or something. Don't take it too seriously and please continue sharing your thoughts of the game.

It can drop a random toggle, if the first attack drops your Mez protect and the next one connects you could be mez'ed. Happens alot to my /DA, I think energy sets just know what to drop
[/ QUOTE ]
Only blaster energy melee has automatic toggle droppers. Tank and brute have to do it the old fashioned way, by stacking enough disorients to break past the mez defence. This is pretty unlikely to happen.

Psst.. Everybody gets one toggledropper in brawl -

why not try and fight the best, EVEN if you know that you wont stand a chance? - but if there is a small possibility that you can walk away knowing that you need to enhance on your existing build then its all good..right? - and besides people like to benchmark there own level of skill from other SG/VG's

/agree.. Only way to improve by learning is play against people better than you.. That is what most people serious about pvp should aspire to.. Eventually there is always someone better than you out there somewhere.. If you lose, learn, and do better. -

It cannot be avoided per se, but its not like any travel power suppression is terribly restricting either. If youre having a sniping contest here then the first sniper can drop behind some obstacles to break LoS and avoid return fire.. Thats taking advantage of your surroundings.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes Flight suppresion can be totally avoided, I ain't making this up lol, i've told Botty my method, he can confirm.
[/ QUOTE ]
Can you now.. only thing that crosses my mind is the bug that was present right after I4 and when suppression was introduced.. Which I pointed out and it was fixed.. I know its not in there for heroes, but villains..? Do you confirm this then, 'botty'?
[/ QUOTE ]
We arnt just talking SB then?
[/ QUOTE ]
Speed boost is speed boost, it doesnt 'avoid' fly suppression, just boosts movement.. The bug I mentioned allowed for starting fly without suppression right after attacking.. -

Normally I get this problem because I use wall mounted lighting in my base and it means the wall can't be deleted to place the doorway.
Also, don't forget that unless you've reached the "ring stage" of base building, you can't change where the door goes (once you have the rooms in a ring, you can move the doors around as it'll still leave one door intact)
[/ QUOTE ]
You can always move corridors between existing rooms (unless blocked by items) even if theres just one corridor, its just that you cant do anything about corridor placement WHILE placing NEW rooms..
If this sounds weird, try buying a new corridor next to existing one without deleting the old one.. Youll understand what i mean. -
Lookie here , we got another thread on this subject..
Anyway, it all depends.. Let me tell you of last night in Sirens, my team was loitering and fighting in the water near villain base, I see this one Mr Stalker flying from villain base.. Obviously he has hide+stealth but it matters little as I have four(!) clear minds on me..(Thanks Psy) I have changed options so that players names always appear above their heads, thus Mr Stalker, if he can be seen, has proverbial words I AM HERE hovering above him.. I see his PVP counter counting down, so I switch to fly and press follow-button.. Apparently I approach from behind him or something because the poor lad doesnt seem to notice me hugging him from behind for like 10 seconds..( I have no stealth) When his counter reaches 3 I hit Build up and Aim.. 2..1..Bone Smasher!! Down he goes like a light, I switch off fly to follow, shoot power blast in mid air and finish the job with power burst on the ground. Poor Mr Stalker, I almost feel sorry for him

I do hope they don't nerf toggle dropping to heavily to be honest. Right now I'd say most */Elec and */Nrg blasters have both their toggle dropping attacks, because they do both toggle dropping AND good damage. A good blaster really only needs 1 toggle dropper(which is why I don't need Frozen Fists, as Ice sword is sufficient), but if they start messing with it too much, everyone that can, will just stack up on them just to get the same effect they have now.
[/ QUOTE ]
I really have hard time computing this, why would a blaster rely on luck and use 1 toggle dropper when you have 2 available? Especially as the damage from both should be ok-ish compared to other attack chains.. I dont know how good the melee attacks in question are in this case (like animation and such), but not using both ice sword and frozen fists both as starters sounds .. weird. What would you use instead?
Third attack in chain might be freezing touch for the hold, or blaze for damage..or bothI dunno. This is when going blapper route.. And imo it is perfectly viable.
-
This is a very difficult question and I hope we can discuss it in the goonie forums.. AR/devices is a combo I see mentioned but they tend to be super-specialized in what they do.. like Telemining or the sneaky defiance-build.. Other than that I guess its a case of taking any of the others and building it to perfection using some original ideas
It'd be nice not to just see flavor-of-the-month builds all the time
Ill post ideas to goonie forums later today, Psy.

Actually its not. Once u see where the shot came from you can turn fast and fire.Remember there is supression after firing and this is what adds up to AR defiance build
[/ QUOTE ]
Flight supression can be easily avoided if you know how and have the right things available to you

My personal opinion has been that superjump suits best characters that flee, like stalkers and support characters. Fly is of course best choice for TGs drop and defiance build, but fly is imo the best travel power for sneaking up on people because it gives such freedom of movement(Im not saying it couldnt be achieved with other travel powers, just that its easiest with fly). I have fly+superspeed for chasing people and they work well.
EDIT: I take this moment to say that in my opinion travel power suppression works very well right now. It allows attacking suppressed people just long enough but doesnt make travel powers useless. -

I am trying to add rooms to my base, although i have both the room and the prestigue to add a new room the option remains red on the grid altenating between 'room must not overlap' to 'room must be connected by.......etc'.
There is one grid spare between rooms and you can see the doorway automatically generated yet the option remains red?, any ideas?, i have searched on forums and websites to no avail
Any help appreciated

Check out if the some sort of item blocks the connecting corridor (game places corridors automatically and we can't really affect it). After the room is in place there MUST be at least one corridor connecting the room to rest of base. It is easy to miss such items as they dont need to be exactly at the wall even for this to happen. Remove some items from the room youre trying to connect to (near the corridor exit) and try again. Once the new room is in place, you can move the corridor and replace the items you temporarily deleted/moved. lowering floors and raising roofs in the room youre connecting to may also help .
Thats all I can think of really, if the plot is of right size and all. -
[ QUOTE ]
It includes the base 500 yards. If both you and a stalker are at the stealth/perception cap, you can only see them from 10 yards away or less.
[/ QUOTE ]
The buffs (and maybe ranges) also work differently depending on AT. Defenders get the most out of +perception for instance. -
[ QUOTE ]
Specifically Bubblers are vulnerable to ranged attacks that drop toggles....as a radiation/electric defender I DON'T HAVE ANY! Toggle dropping is something that happens to me rather than something I do to other people.
[/ QUOTE ]
Name some ranged 'attacks' (not holds) that drop toggles.. Afaik only stalkers may have them, but im not sure. -
Its obviously meant a fun event, treat it as such.

This is interesting and its great to have this sort of events so we can learn more.
Note that I wasnt in the event but im just voicing my thoughts here..

I know Hide and Stealth stack but does grant invis also stack? If that is the case, future pentad teams MUST have someone with this to make use of Stalkers correctly.

Grant invis stacks like nothing else.. Its very important for battling the +perception on opposing side..

don't actually know too much about MM secondaries but one thing I have seen is that some of them heal for double what my lvl 40 Thermal does. I've seen MM's doing group heals over the 400 mark compared to my Thermals 200-300.
[/ QUOTE ] Imo MMs are heavily defensive in nature and should be used accordingly.
[ QUOTE ]
Taunting From Brutes
I don't think I saw a single taunt all night. I know Brutes do not have the defence of tanks but a fully buffed one who is kept healed can still pull the biggest threat on the hero side off of your squishies with a taunt.
[/ QUOTE ]
Taunt is an important tool..

Dominators need some love in PvP as they are a poor relation when it comes to controllers. I would love to see some mez resistance tests run to see how much weaker they are but without Domination, they rarely get holds in. If anyone has an hour or so to copy some toons over to test and try this out, let me know. Basically, I'd copy 2 or 3 controllers and doms over with the same powersets and same level(and a respec available if possible) and spam a few holds on tanks and brutes in arena to see how much easier Trollers can break the mez than Doms. A very simple test but should give us some figures if run enough times.
[/ QUOTE ] Yes.. I wish I had the motivation to lvl up my dominator on union to see how I would do.. Imo doms are far too squishy for their effectiveness.. As they have zero of the defensive secondaries the controllers get, Their holds are weaker, the damage is naff.. I mean what were the devs thinking?
[ QUOTE ]
MM's need some huge love in PvP as pets really aren't any use.
[/ QUOTE ]
Im interested in the rumoured henchman taunt as it might change MMS in PVP completely.. Anyway imo the henchman summon recharge is WAYYYYY too long..
[ QUOTE ]
Corruptors and Stalkers are the key. One thing I did see during the fights was that villain teams did not seem to be bubbled or buffed anywhere near as highly as the hero teams. When heroes were hitting, they were taking off huge chunks of HP but when villains were hitting, they seemed to be missing, doing minimal damage and the damage was healed quickly. On the whole, heroes seemd to be spamming buffs and debuffs a lot more than villains as the Corruptors and MM's seemed to be concentrating on dealing damage.
[/ QUOTE ]
Imo the villains are underdogs in terms of buffs, having half of the buffs in corrupters who are needed for damage and attacking as well.. Heroes are more obviously specialized..
Im not a pvp expert either but just wanted to say something.. -
[ QUOTE ]
No, you have to set two windows per week.
[/ QUOTE ]
which need to be on different days, hence two days. -
[ QUOTE ]
It all boils down to one thing imo, If you dont want to fight, overwhelming odds or not, leave the zone, and if you want to go afk leave the zone too, theres no need to moan about it on the forums,
[/ QUOTE ]
You lose bounty if you exit zone. If you think there are reinforcements coming there really is no practical way except waiting inside zone. Dunno but propably temp powers reset as well.
