Quote:Tried it and ultimately wanted to punch myself in the face before the first mission was done. Marcus Cole refused to follow properly unless your character was borderline hugging him (in other words, anything greater than 1cm apart and he wouldn't budge)... that's not good. :\
Ambitious arc, though.
Thanks for the feedback.
Already planned changes due to feedback:
Mission 1: Change to indoor map, have Marcus Cole just be a captive, and not an escort.
Mission 2: Possible Map change to a smaller map, cut out a few objectives. -
Arc Id: 313996
Arc Name: Web of Arachnos- Dawn of a new age
Faction: Heroic
Synopsis: Relive the events surrounding the creation of Lord Recluse, Statesman, the Freedom Phalanx, and Nemesis' return to prominence. Based on the novel by Robet Weinberg.
Looking for feedback, it's highly story driven, and is not a farm.
Since this is my fanclub up in this piece.
Or something. -

Quote:So, does anyone think we'll ever see a either a Kheldian-based Epic power pool or at the very least ever have the option of letting Kheldians pick from the available hero epic pools? VEATs get their Patron Power Pools the same as normal villains so it seems kind of odd to leave Kheldians out. Something like Luminous/Ebon Mastery would be interesting. Of course, I do realize that Kheldians are widely seen as different from the VEATs and are also believed to be more powerful but I still don't think leaving them out of the EPP selection is a good idea, especially with the game evolving as it is.
They already have their Epic Power Pools, they're just already built into the set. :P -
Oh, I agree completely, it was just wrong to try and turn it around into something "the evil statesman said" when it didn't.
I also honestly think we can thank the utter failure of Tabula Rasa and to a lesser extent Auto Assault for the renewed attention CoH has been getting, but that's a whole other story. -
Quote:I hate to bring this up but - um the guy most famous for saying 'nope can't do it' stuff is the guy behind CO.
Sorry, you're incorrect. In fact, it was Positron that had the disastrous developer interview with the whole "Well, we'd like to do all these things the players like, but it'd take too much effort and money.", with a backlash so huge they had to pull Statesman back on the boards temporarily to do a spinjob to save face. This was before the Cryptic/NCSoft split.
I think the problem was that Pos was, well, just being too honest. It hasn't been as bad lately, but it used to be that everytime he opened his mouth, I just cringed.
I don't really "love" this game anymore, but it's still one of the best MMOs on the market, and has been the only one of late that I find people even attempting to RP in. (which I think Champions will fail at. Horribly.) -

Quote:Nah, there's two flaws on that Superman statement.I've always thought:
Superman - Extended Metaphor for America's ability to overcome anything.
Batman - Extended Metaphor for Humanity's ability to overcome anything.
One, Superman rarely has to "overcome" anything. Two, the lessons Superman has to teach are not just an American thing.
Granted, if you want to go back to the golden age, but heck, that Superman was so different (and was created for differerent purposes) that DC eventually retconned him into being a Superman from an alternate universe. -
Im going to be contrary and just flat out admit that the only reason I'm still playing CoH is because my current PC cant run Champions too good.
Visually, I dislike the game more than CoH, and it has some of the "new MMOness" glitchiness I've just come to expect and accept (been playing MMOs since UO) but honestly, the gameplay itself is vibrant and different enough from both CoH and WoW and the fact it does away with the archaic "Class/AT" systems and lets you truly craft a character that you enjoy.
On the downside, it isnt optimized worth a crap and I can't get but 5-10 FPS, so it's fairly unplayable.
Also, call me Mr. Bitterpants, but Im also annoyed with the whole "nope we cant do that, nope we cant do that, nope we cant do that" we've been advised of for the past 2 years and then suddenly, when competition arrives, "Oh, hey, we can do this stuff!"
Mind you, CoH has done a -lot- of things recently to restore me actually liking the game, but I think whatever changes occurr with GR will be a make or break deal for me personally.
Plus, hey, Im still > : ( that something we kept getting told during CoV beta and prior has been pushed off so long that it suddenly merits an expansion, which is side swapping. -
I think you people don't get (modern) Superman at all.
The idea is that he was a good, honest, wholesome farmboy that never caved or deviated from his code of conduct no matter how much easier it would seem, because, well, he was raised that way and feels (and hopes) that people will respond to his example of living "the golden rule" (do unto others as you would have them do unto you) and that no matter how many times it's thrown back into his face he'll keep trying just for those times where it works.
He's a good honest person that perseveres in a corrupt, decaying world, and hopes that one day, he'll see things change, and keeps going due to those occaisons where he does see people respond properly.
I suggest reading the Manchester Black arc, it pretty much nails Superman IMO.
Also, it's reassuring and comforting to see there's still one character that hasn't just devolved into wallowing in psychopathic-antiheroeness or even been tempted to it. (well, aside from Elseworlds. :P)
I mean, hell.. Marvel had Spider-Man make a deal with the devil.
:Edit: Meanwhile, Supes is -hardly- one of my favorite characters, and I prefer him as a counterpoint in stories that aren't focused on him, normally.
Im a Tim Drake fanboy at heart. -
