  1. To the OP...welcome to the world of fire imps I've had my imps glitch and run past me down a hall after fighting a mob, and couldn't figure out where they went. Next thing I knew they were running past me in the opposite direction. I laughed and shook my head...imps are crazy

This game CoX is EXTREMELY team-friendly. With auto-sidekick and buffs/debuffs stacking, who doesn't want to team up in this game? But Stalker's design is lacking in team context.

I recently came back and I was playing Lord of the Ring online. They have Burgular who is like an Assassin type of character. What Burgular contributes the most on a team that the others have a hard time fulfilling is Leadership Maneuver attack that the whole team can perform together. I am not an expert in Lotro but that gives me a reason to invite Burgular because Burg does decent damage and control and the leadership maneuver can deal massive damage on a single target. This is just one way where Assassin can help out on a team. Not saying this is the best way but I feel Stalker is missing something on a team. Assassin Strike takes too long to activate and its damage is still not that impressive.
lol...since when has AS done subpar damage...I think you forgot to activate hide. That being said this is City of AoE's...but I still enjoy the play style of stalkers.
  3. I have a spines/elec that is a lot of fun to play. Somewhat squishy, but not too bad. I just assumed that Brutes get a bit more mileage out of resist sets, since they have a higher resist cap. That might be why it tends to be a bit more common amongst that AT.

    NERF AOE'S!!!!

Really I was just thinking a couple of day's ago how this game should be called City of Aoe's lol. Anyway I'm wondering if I'll really notice a difference. On my ss/invul I roll at full fury teamed and by myself, but I'm guessing this wont gimp me too much. I pretty much play main or off tank as the situation calls. As far as having uber damage I feel its kinda meh...I'm comfortable resting somewhere in between scrappers and tanks. Also I can't really see what concern there should be about Brutes replacing tanks....what do we NEED tanks for in this game anyway. If an all troller team can pull of an stf, supposedly one of the hardest tf's in the game, then thats just pathetic. They need to make the content hard enough so that Tanks will outshine Brutes in the area of survivability.

I have in the last few days only just realised that my builds with primary could be different for doms, simple because containment isnt a factor. Doms i have made, and deleted in the past have played the primary like a troller, and not like a damage dealer. So i will make a Dom, probably electric Control, for GR, and have him go blue.
This is of course a common misconception about what all of the Villian AT's "roles" are. I didn't care much for dom's at first either, since I too played it like a controller. When I discovered how much damage a dom was capable of mixed in with awesome controls I was sold. I remember at level 35 (sk'd to 50 of course) being able to confuse Magus' during a rikti raid with domination going...no controller I played could have done that. So I understood how Dom's, like other vill AT's were multi-capable (doubltful thats a word but I'll use it). Also I was turned down from an itf on my ss/invul brute becuase the leader was looking for DPS and not a tank. I lauged and said I am dps and was still turned away. With the amount of damage I put out I make tanks cry . With GR coming up and a lot of vills side-switching I think its going to take a while for many people to come to grips with the awesomeness (again not a word but I'll use it :P) that Vills are capable of.

    P.S. I <3 Stalkers too

    Brute as damage

Lol...from your response I'd say you were provoked =P

Anyway there is no way I'd be a main tank on my ss/fire Brute...an off tank is even stretching it. For running basic missions with teams yes I've often ran in first becuase I'm just crazy though I've face planted many times. My ss/invul Brute on the other hand I've built to tank because I love the amount of damage he pumps out and the amount of survivability. On my ss/fire however I'd be incredibly reluctant to run in and take the alpha from a Hero. I kind of agree with where your coming from though since brutes have all the aggro management tools and higher base hp then everyone else. I do try to protect squishies when I can, but am glad its not always expected of me. Still I never expect Brutes to tank and unlike tanks the more the merrier.
  7. well if endurance is going to be a problem then phys perfection might be the better route to take. Also that glad armor def/res proc is nice to have to get that extra 3%, but I'm guessing ballpark figure its likley going to cost 2 bill or more. That nerf bat to the Zephyr set really makes sheild scrappers that much more expensive to build. But cost aside they are really fun to play...and Lightning Rod is an awesome power. Anyway thanks for the advice...and I'll be checking back so any future advice is welcome.
  8. For fireball what would you suggest I put in the sixth slot? I do plan to use it...though as I mentioned before I also leaning going the body mastery route. Also why would I want to remove the res/def io? would I be better off to slot it in tough or are you suggesting that I remove it altogether?
  9. Ok here we go...I think this should be better

  10. whoa...I really screwed that up...I'll try that again...the data chunk is there so hopefully that will be enough, but I'll try reposting
  11. Ok here is what I've come up with...I realize its not optimal and it is quite expensive, but none of the set includes purples which I'm trying to avoid at this point. I was hoping to get my recharge up a bit more, and also would I be better off a just going with body master to pick up physical perfection for end recovery? I really hate to give up fire ball because I can see how useful it is at getting those two or three guys in a mob that lightning rod/sheild charge might miss. Also I made this based on the advice that aoe defense isn't as necessary, so am I going to be ok in that respect? I don't mind eating a purple insp here and there if I need to. Also after going over some other builds I noticed that quite a few people slotted membranes in active defense, though I didn't notice any change to my defense in mids when I added/took them away...so what am I missing here? Anyway here is the build...I'm not looking for the most cost effective build, since having something to work towards is fine...I do farm quite a bit, and also run enough tf's. Any advice is great advice...thanks for the replies.

  12. I've been playing an elec/sheild scrapper and have gotten him to 41. I wanted to get something in the works in mids so I could have a goal to work towards, but every build I've viewed so far seems to use the zephyr set, some of them with 2 or more. I didn't really need to use them on my sheild/fire tank, though I see it would have really freed up some space. Of coarse thats moot since they altered the zephyr set. Just curious how people have worked around this? My problem is I don't really have extensive knowlege using mids, and I've not tried to softcap a scrapper yet. Any Advice?
  13. Just curious, does the 7.5% recharge gained from the Basilisk gaze set count as a 5th when combined with lotg recharges or can you slot 5 of them and still get the recharge from the Basilisk set? Just wondering if this is a same rule applied as gaining the 5% bonus from Obliteration sets and a melee set like crushing impact?
  14. Just curious how useful these are at upper lvl's. I took Jacobs ladder but more or less find myself using it as an extra attack when something else isn't charged. I do like to play more like a scrapper with AS. I am less than impressed with the Jacobs Ladder since I have to try to line them up to hit more than one target (though more often then not its just one), and the damage doesn't seem all that great. I find myself using AS, placate, thunderstrike, then havoc punch along with the mu vet power more than anything, but wondering how does chain induction fair on a stalker? I skipped it in order to pick up some of my secondaries, but wondered if this was something most stalkers found useful or just another subpar power. Any help would be great...thanks in advance.
  15. Thanks for the reply Chaos. Nice to see you managed this without any purples in your build. I noticed you had only one recharge reduction in powersink. How often do you find you even need to use this? I imagine energize+Phys perfection really helps out quite a bit especially since you said you weren't too far from having energize perma. Also I didn't realize that Rectified Reticle gave an extra 1.88% to smashing/lethal which is nice considering how cheap they are. Anyway I appreciate the info...thanks again.
  16. Ok I'm working on my second scrapper right now and decided on this combo. I didn't want to go with spines/fire cause I already have an ss/fire brute, and I don't need another shield toon at the moment. I realize electric armor is still somewhat new to scrappers so I see there isn't a plethora of builds listed like I would find for some of the other sets. I was curious as to how much defense I should be going for since I planned on taking tough/weave and combat jumping. Also how much recharge should I be aiming for with this build since its obviously a build that relies on it? And also should I be picking up all my toggles or is there some of them I can do without? If someone wouldn't mind posting their build so I can see what power picks they've chosen and also what sets they've gone with. I'm don't want to simply copy someone's build, but I just want to get a better idea of what I'm working with. Any help would be great...thanks in andvance.
  17. Happened to come up on this thread while checking into pvp as I've only had little experience. I've had a few run-ins in pvp zones while on badging teams and it has been quite a bit fun. I have no idea how pvp was prior i13 which I hear was a more decent pvp system. I came right on the heels of i13 and this being my first mmo I had no desire to get into pvp at that time. I've played numerous fps games so I can most certainly say trash talking isn't an "elitest" problem, but part of any pvp game. Its like anything, eventually you learn to tune it out. Something that is golden about this game is the ignore feature...with other games you can usually turn of chat or mute speech if its supported by the game. Losing is part of any competative game and expecting to lose a lot is some great advice. Still I think black_barrier stated it best when he said,
"damn right i'm better than some random dude that just stepped into RV a week ago. should that discourage that random dude? only if he's doesn't like competitive games; hence, he or she should stick to farming BM and killing behemoths." I think this sums it up for any pvp oriented game.
  18. I mostly use this guy for teaming though I would like to be able to solo effectively. I'm not looking to solo av's at this point, but I would like to have perma am/hasten and not run out of endurance. I guess I would like to be self-reliant on teams since I enjoy being the support but feel I'm no use if I keep running out of end or dying. I also would enjoy being able to do some moderate farming, but am not here to ask for someone to post a farming build just to help me readjust a few things with mine. I know there are a lot of builds for this AT combo, but I am trying to learn how to do this myself not simply copy someone else's build. Thanks for the quick replies and again any help offered is greatly appreciated
  19. Ok I just hit lvl 47 and am ready to respec/enhance. I looked at some of the other builds and tried to make something off of those, however seems like they are using purples which I am trying to avoid at the moment. The build I came up with is already expensive enough with the addition of a couple of lotg recharges and the miracle/numina recovery io's. The gamblers I'm not as worried about since I can easily get those with merits. Still even at this I've had what looked like some major end issues in my mids build. Is there any way to make a good fire/rad controller without investing 1bill+ of inf. into it? Here is what I came up with so please feel free to change anything around...I am open to any suggestions at this point.

  20. I'm sure this is posted on other threads, but I'll ask since I started this one. How do I get choking cloud to work effectively? I noticed it can't be slotted for acc so I figured it would be auto-hit though I've rarely noticed it hit if at all.
  21. Ok I decided to go with Earth Mastery...I like the idea being able to stack stuns on the mobs with flash fire and fissure so I'll see how this goes. With the to hit debuffs and stuns I couldn't imagine being mezzed that much, but I'll just have to give it a try and see how it goes. I've seen some builds, but noticed its debatable as to whether soft capping s/l defense is necessary so not sure If I want to invest that much into it. Can anyone tell me how much recharge is needed to get am perma? I haven't really found any clear information on it other than a lot of recharge is needed.
  22. Ok I'm on my first fire and first rad...have played both plant/kin and grav/kin to 50, but with fire/rad I'm at a loss when trying to go with defense or resistence. I figured having a self-heal would make a resistence set a better choice, but then again I could be wrong. What would be the major pro's and con's of going with one or the other? Any help is greatly appreciated...thanks in advance
  23. Oh and wanted to add that I realize the Miracle +recovery and gambler recharge is a bit pricy so they would be the last editions to the build. I might not even need the +recovery, and the added recharge is merely preference.
  24. Ok this is my first time trying to post a build (and my first time attempting to softcap a tank) so hopefully I did this right. Here is the build I was able to come up with. I'm nearing lvl 47 on my tank, which means I'll be ready to start enhancing soon. I am totally willing to accept any advice at this point, so feel free to switch anything around. I have a budget of about 200mill so I'm not interested in any purple sets, and the cheaper the better. One thing I would have liked to fit in the build would have been focused accuracy, but the end drain looked a bit high. Is this something that would be a problem given fire melee doesn't have as heavy end drain as some sets do? One of my other main concerns is when trying tank Rom at lvl 46 I can pop on purple insp and go above softcap with phalanx upping my defense even more. Without proper buffs/heals, which was my experience last night, I kept going down pretty quick. Keep in mind I don't have tough or weave, which I am hoping to respec and pick up soon. Will this always be a problem? Any other sd/fm tanks able to effectively tank Rom? Again any advice is appreciated, since I am quite new at this. Thanks in advance!!!
