I was trying to get on an ITF last night with my SoA and just couldn't get anyone to invite me, but when I switched to my Ill/Rad controller I was invited immediately. I think the SoA brings almost as much to the team as the troller, but I guess others just don't see it that way. Of course the Ill/Rad is what I always bring out when I really feel like teaming.

I have reworked my build to include Venom Grenade and Shatter Armor. It is still very expensive with all the procs and massive recharge, but should be very survivable.

I had no trouble with my Stone/Stone Brute. I was able to just beat him down and take out clones at range with patron attacks. I have quite a few Brutes that I have done this with and the only one that had any problem was my SS/WP and I ended up putting him in the lava and standing in there with him. At that point I could just beat him down and my regen was enough the lava didn't hurt me.

I put this build together today since I am back playing my SoA after several months. I went Bane single target and mostly melee and it should be very survivable. I haven't made it to 50 yet, so can't tell you for sure how well this build will work.

I had this same problem the other day. I contacted support and they removed the security question so I could log in. It still didn't work on my computer at work, but I was able to log in from my home computer just fine by just giving the birthday.
I am guessing they have blocked my work computer since I answered the security question wrong several times. Not sure how to unblock it yet and will have to contact support again about that. -
Fiery Aura is a little different from the other armor sets. It doesn't have a dedicated toggle for it's mez protection. You get hold and sleep protection from Plasma Shield and immobilize from Burn. It also has no knockback protection a t all. You will have to resort to IO's for that or Acrobatics from the leaping pool. You can also get immobilize protection from combat jumping in the same pool if you don't want to use burn to provide that.
-
Energy Aura when using SO's is definitely subpar. It's only when you start throwing IO sets at it that it starts to perform very well. I have a WM/EA from back when this thread was first created and before both sets received a little bit of a boost. I never had any issue with the toon back then, but it just wasn't as good as my other brutes. Once I IO'ed him out he became one of my favorite characters to play and also one of the toughest.
Oh and it is good to see this thread around still! Keep it going. -
Overall I like the build, but one change I would make is how you slotted MG. I think you have it underslotted. It is hardest hitting single target attack in the set and should be 6 slotted over Shadow Punch, so move those 2 slots over there. When you do that it also lets you slot Stamina much earlier since the slots you had in Shadow Punch are from level 5 and 7.
-
I have one of these also and the amount of AoE damage is just insane. You do have to deal with being a little squishy, but it is a lot of fun.
-
Could be a bug. Did she try to respec again? If so, did she get the same thing?
-
What server are you on? Almost all of my 50's are villains and I will be running this arc later tonight on a couple of them. I am on Freedom and will be looking for a group to run this.
-
Go read the beta posts about this mission. Charging into the last room with Honoree is not the best strategy to use. Even some of my melee characters can't just charge in and expect to live through it.
-
I currently take Taunt on most of my Brutes also. What I will be adding is a travel power pool again. I quit taking them when Ninja Run came out, but now that I have to add 3 powers in I will be looking for ones that don't require much slotting. Travel powers normally are fine without slots.
-
Quote:Here is a build I put together for this combo awhile back. It focuses on +recharge and should be very survivable with everything stunned around you from Fault.I'd like a brute that has a good survivability, but I can't seem to make up my mind. What powers should I avoid on these sets?

Quote:This sums it up pretty well.SS = Better AoE damage output through Foot Stomp, as well as Rage boost to damage sources in Secondary or from Pool attacks. Con: Rage crashes
SM = Much Better Mitigation with overall higher ST DPA attacks and slightly better ST DPS at both the SO level as well as the extreme top end.
Con: Extremely END heavy ST attacks -
Quote:I am going to have to disagree with this also. It is a good power in the early game, but just not needed later on.Touch of Fear is a must-take power. I don't care if it doesn't do damage.
As far as DM/WP as a set, it is a great single target build that can stand up to anything with just SO's or common IO's. Once you start putting IO's in there it can really take off. -
One minor change you can do to get more recharge is to replace the Oblit proc in Thunderstrike with Force Feedback +recharge proc. You would reduce defense to 34.9%, but that proc goes off pretty often in an AoE.
With this going off regularly you will have perma hasten. -
Here is a build I am working on for my Elec/Fire Brute. It has 36.3% s/l/melee def and is 22 sec from perma hasten. I wasn't willing to sacrifice enough to get the rest...lol. Healing flames is still available about every 15 secs.
It should be pretty strong and have no issues with endurance at all. I also did not use any purples or PvP IO's.

Both sets are good, but in the end it really comes down to how much AoE you can do. SS is just much better with Footstomp then SM with Tremor. Rage on top of that just makes it that much better.
SM is also very good, but I normally pick it if I need a lot of mitigation. SS doesn't do nearly as good of a job there.
After taking 8 brutes, 2 tanks, and a stalker to 50 though, it really comes down to how much AoE you can do in most cases and SS is just better at it then SM. -
I have one of these and it does pretty good. I don't have my build available and I haven't played him on awhile, but with the changes to FA recently the set should do pretty good. SS/FA would be faster, but I don't think it would be by much.
Try to get some defense and a lot of recharge. Lightning Rod is on a long timer and lots of recharge can make it available every group. -
And if you say ignore it you know we can't resist looking.
-
The Patron powers always cause redraw, so you would put away your mace and draw the other one whenever you wanted to use one of those powers.
I find redraw to be very annoying even though it isn't supposed to slow anything down, so I tend to skip the Patron powers with weapon sets or pick energy mastery now for Superior Conditioning and Physical Perfection. -
I have a rule that I don't delete any character once he has reached level 30.
The only one I guess I miss is a Sonic/Archery Defender that was 28. I really got tired of everyone looking for a healer and then seeing I was sonic and whining. After dealing with that I decided I was better off playing my brutes on red side where those idiots are not as common. -
I have run this one several times on my 50 elec/ea stalker set to x6 without any problems. I actually enjoy the mad rush of all the ambushes.
I can see where some would have problems with it, but I find this kind of mission to be a lot of fun. All too much of the content in this game is very easy and I look forward to challenges like this. -
WM/EA can be good. There are probably better secondaries out there to pair with WM though, but at least you will be STRONG and PRETTY.
I have a WM/EA at 50 and do enjoy playing him. I have 45% defense to s/l/f/c/e, 35% to neg, and 23% to Psi. Before he was soft capped he was a challenge to play and could be very frustrating. All I can say is if you are having fun playing him then continue.
