The game runs fine most of the time with any graphics setting and only a ,not unexpected, amount of lag due to my oh so awesome dial up. The problem arises only in certain situations.
During a mission I can play just fine with 6-8 mobs in a fight and powers flying all over the place, but when you get a new spawn such as when you kidnap/rescue someone I get massive packet loss. In game netgraph turns red for various lengths of time depending on how big the spawn is and naturally causes lag and eventually map disconnects if its long enough. Bank missions are impossible, even solo. Once I hit one of the resisting arrest spawn nodes the packet loss hits badly. It also occurs when I create a new villain and hit the first contact in the prison yard ( I noticed that there's a group of arachnos guards that spawns in the background and beats up the longbow and prisoners when the packet loss hits). Zombie and Rikti invasions are of course a complete wipeout for me.So it seems to be a problem only with triggered spawns.
I know and expect some problems due to being on dial up but I never had this problem the last time I was stuck on dial up. I can play other MMO's without problems. I have tried turning off firewall,no anti viral running, turned off pg2 and exited messenger. I've seen other posts with people facing random lag and disconnect issues so I am wondering if it's just me or are other people facing these issues under the same circumstances? Anyone have any ideas ?
