I am curious if anyone has found a way to make a bind or macro that will start you running then start you flying or even start you flying and then switch flyposes

    1, 2... 5?

    <Consults the Book of Armaments>

It's a pretty standard marketting thing. You create a binary progression (1,2,4,8) but you skew the final tier by adding something extra for very little. In this case, you get a 5th slot by paying 1 penny more.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    And it WORKS !!!

I'll be dropping $19.99 the day issue 12 goes live

Pardon the "noob' question, but what, praytell, is a "Badge Grant"?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Every year on the anniversary of the City launch, they grant a badge to all players who login that day. Apparently the Rikti code will conflict with that. I guess they have a block of "Code du Jour" which would be one, or the other, but not both.

    [/ QUOTE ]
For clarity, it is per character. If you want the badge on two (or more) characters, you must log on each character.

At least, that is the way it has been in the past and I doubt that they are going to change that QoL.

I was under the impression Brutes were only getting the two new Primaries, and not a secondary....am I incorrect?

    Correct; you are incorrect.

But if I decide against going through the Hollows, there is no reason I should be forced to physically go to Wincott. And that also applies to Faultline, Striga, Croatoa, and the RWZ. You should be given the intro contact as a contact, so you know they exist, but it shouldn't be mandatory.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This is a sore point for me. I am frustrated with getting a new set of contacts and then having one of them send me to the PvP zone liasons as a mission. Just have the contacts give them as a new contact introduction and not as a mission.
  6. I'd like an option to have the Inspiration tray usage to be from the top of the tray to the bottom of tray, instead of how it is currently from bottom to top.
  7. Unlock a cape, unlock a helmet, unlock gloves; fine. That entire costume sets are locked is a little frustrating, consider that character concepts are impacted because of it.

For the record, I am currently only interested in the cape and, maybe, the bracers from the Roman set. (I still want the Kheldian Sash.)

Give us more options, don't dangle these carrots in such a distasteful way.

Please clarify: If you are saying that we will not be able to access those costume pieces, I strenuously suggest you remove them from that promotional image or, preferably, make them available to players: Don't lie to us.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Agreed. You already have half the player base excited about this, and now we are being told, nope, cant have specific pieces that are shown. Thats not right. Dont tease the players with stuff we wont get. How about show us what we WILL have access to.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think he meant "No, its not Statesman..." which was the original question.

    JLove's post is:

    "NO, to above"

Which is an unquoted response to Radmind's post of:

So, wait...in the picture with the gladiator armors, is that Statesman in there?

    [/ QUOTE ]

That does look like the Statesman cape and Helmet. Do we get access to those???

    [/ QUOTE ]

Which makes JLove's response seem to be:

'No, you will not get access to those costume pieces shown in the promotional image.'

I state "seems". That would mean that the promotional image implies a lie. That is what I am asking to be made more clear.

Edit: I am asking for clarification because this would seem to be the first time that images promoting a new issue were inaccurate. I am assuming that all costume pieces are shown as they might be used on a player character, not an NPC, but JLove's post is unclear.

Probably reading too much into this but is this a hint that the Rikti invasion will be going away at a later date along with the accolade? Just wondering with the numerous invasion dates lately, my tinfoil hat is itching.

I seriously doubt that they announced the schedule for the Invasions without considering the release of new Issues. One week a month or so of Invasions is probably part of their plans for other things for the game to come this year.

  11. I'm not saying that the Hollows fix is bad, but it seemed to be a well-used zone. I was hoping for a revamp of Boomtown; unless the near-literal ghost-town feel is what the devs want.
  12. I just hope that the costume pieces that are available to the Villain Epic Archetypes are not only available to them, wthin reason. I have wanted that metallic-sheen costume style since before this game existed and I want it available for all characters. I would have no problem with the raised design being exclusive, but I hope most of it is not exclusive.

I like the Roman cape a lot, though.

Edit: And I hope they give us two more character slots on each server because of all the new options available in this Issue.
  13. I currently play the game with a Logitech Rumblepad. It takes a lot of keybinds, macros and tray switching, but I only use the mouse for manipulating inventories and the keyboard for communication. But, hopefully, they would be smart enough to have a keyboard peripheral to be added as a requisite for porting the game to console (but I remember the "fix" to the coinflip emote...).

And I'll join the chorus of "Never a server be merged" as well.
  14. What is the chance that we will be able to change our character's height or model? Even as a one-time use like with Global Handle rename. Once per character, that is.

Do not make it a Veteran Reward.

i guess this is just a personal peeve, but i wish youd stop calling game updates 'free expansions'.

every pay to play online game updates and expands there game as it progresses through patches, these are not some unique 'free expansions' we are getting, they are simply patches and updates to the game just like every other paid mmo you can subscribe to.

i guess its just semantics, but calling them 'free expansions' makes me feel like you think you are talking to idiots who dont realize every single paid mmo has the exact same thing, but they just call them patches.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Please keep in mind the history of City of Heroes. Back when the first Issues came out as "free expansions" other comparable Triple A MMO's were turning out for pay boxed expansions. I guess the term has just stuck around as a hold over. I'll pass your sentiments along to the Marketing Types.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Aren't patches generally added to fix existing content? Aren't expansions additional or new content? Don't some of the other major MMOs offer their major new content as expansions that are boxed and must be paid for separately from subscription costs? If I'm mistaken, fine. If not, then calling them "free expansions" sounds quite accurate.
  16. I haven't read the whole thread but I'll follow the fan-boi bandwagon and say this announcement sounds very, very good. And I hope "Real Numbers" means that we are actually going to see the base values of powers so we can actually make informed decisions about our gameplay (I do not like that Lighthouse has put real in quotation marks--the implication is that it won't be the actual base values but perhaps AT modifiers or some such lameness).

If it is the base numbers, I give a great deal of (complete) credit of that revelation to the wonderful members of this game community (freaks) who have spent a lot of their time in working out the numbers and making them available to their fellow players and also those who have been asking for it (lined up with pitch forks and torches).

Pointed question: Is Jack Emmert still involved with City of Heroes/Villains?
  17. I'm not sure if this would be a bug or a request but I hope it is only an oversight: For Male and Huge, Upper Body/Gloves/Banded, there is no "Full" or "Tights" option for the texture. It does exist for Female as "Full", though. It also appears for Male and Huge for Upper Body/Gloves/Large labeled "Full".
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Just where exactly is all this info going to show up, and what for? I know about the Cityinfoterminal/Badgehunter like sites where you sign up and can put in your character info and whatnot, but how is this all going to work? Could someone go into further detail about these features?

    [/ QUOTE ]
We have not been given specifics, but I assume it will be a web site maintained only by NC Soft. Whether they will allow the player-run sites to be able to access this information using this feature is unknown.
  19. I'll just re-state what I'd like to have as an option for this, since there are so many people who are unwilling to accept that some people don't like the proposed implementation:

Go ahead and enable all the options--excepting the friends list--but give us a global option to hide all of the characters on an account so we can completely ignore the built-in game system and stick with the player-designed tracking sites.

Also, give us the option to keep any and all of our own characters off of other players' friends lists.

    [ QUOTE ]
Let me be one more voice asking to set the options to Disabled by default for new characters. It's simply much kinder to have to opt in to an information service than to have to opt out. There's no reason to make it all enabled by default.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There is a very good reason. If this system is made entirely opt-in then it will get used by very few people. If it's opt-out except for friends lists then it will get used by nearly everyone.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Quite understandable. However, I would suggest opt-in by default, with a one-click, global opt-out for those who do not want to be involved with it and want a quick and easy way to deal with this besides not playing for 90 days.
  21. Whoo-hoo! My rude post (on re-read) answered politely by a Red-Name!

I need to be more polite in my posts. My apologies.
  22. Please, please, please...

If you are going to do anything more with the options screen in any way or fashion, have someone go through the entire list and reword everything so that the options are not worded as a negative so we do not have to "Disable" a negative setting to enable it. As it is now, the wording for all of the web-stats options is:

    Hide <info> from web page

If you enable the option in the menu, the actual result is to disable the option, which is stupidly counter-intuitive. Make all of these options read something like:

    Show <info> on web page

Also, reword and make all in-game communication options ENABLED by default so the options read as:

    Allow Enemy Local chat Enable

so that we have to take action to ignore enemy communications, instead of needing to take action to communicate with players of the opposing faction. I dislike interacting with almost all other players, but even I think it's stupid to have the default setting to disable cross-faction communication.

Also, enabling all of thse options to be set with slash commands so that keybinds and macros would set all the options as desired would probably be appreciated by more persons than just me.

For additional suggestions, I would like an option to hide all information for all characters on my account with a single setting and have a per-character option to allow the information on the web. My understanding is that we have to "opt out", which would be annoying to do with multiple characters that I play infrequently. I understand that it might be enabled by default to show a large population of characters for the sake of appearing "active" but that seems pointlessly artificial. Perhaps adding a global option to update characters as they are logged on might be good. I.e., if you do not set your global account to be hidden, then the system works as originally stated; if you set your global account to be hidden, you have an additional option to "Update characters to web page when logged in".

Obviously, if it requires too much work, it might not be feasible, but I, for one, would appreciate it.

    My 2 Influence.

As stated above, one of the BIG failures of teams - and not Tanks is the Team.

    1. Stolen Aggro - Yep, you tell the team "I am herding to here", you run in, and as you return you see some Scrapper or Blaster standing in the middle of hall with Milk and Cookies to greet the incoming host.

The Result is a scattered mob, the team split between the original plan and saving the "waiter".

    2. Knock Back - Yes, I am not talking about intelligent players, players knocking an NPC toward a Tank. I am talking about mindless blaster powers that simply blow villains in all directions. This includes Controller pets, Blasters/Defenders using Nova against Purple mobs - knowing they cannot defeat them, and knuckle headed Blasters who simply insist on playing the Scrapper... instead of using their melee tools as defensive weapons.

    3. The Uninformed - who run about like a little schoolgirl with a giant monster chasing them. For them I teach the Cardinal Rule for Squishies! "JUMP THE TANK" and stay in a straight line so the bad guy runs right into them!

    4. I AM FINALLY UBER! - Yes, the late game Controller feels they have finally come of age. I know... I was one too. Yes, you hold, you overcome everything... and you also fire your control early causing the mob to be scattered all over the room. This leaves a Tank attempting to keep aggro on a scattered mob that now will not move. This is a bad situation for Squishies and causes panic among good Tankers. Controllers need to learn to "Control" their ability to want to take control.

    FINALLY! COMMUNICATION!

Yes, it is very important for the Tank to give a READY! when they are sure that they have aggro.

Remember that... READY! got it? And make sure you communicate that slowly, with patience, to the team and that they all understand to wait... here... for the READY!

I hope you don't mind Grumble.

    [/ QUOTE ]
There's not much I would mind. I posted this with the intent to help anyone who isn't already familiar with ED and slotting numbers and want a fairly simple way to understand it.

Expounding on what you include, let's address a hypothetical question: Is there anything worth six-slotting for a single effect?

I six-slot one power and would probably not do it with any other power: Stamina. Doing this, I will still slot many attacks with End Reduction and not slot some toggles for End Reduction. The numbers for slotting even level SO's (i.e., a L50 character slotting L50 SO's) and L50 IO's:

    Six SO: 110%

    Six IO: 118.2%

Compare that to slotting six SO's that are +2 (50++) or +3 (53--can be very hard to find but would apply to a L47 character using L50 SO's):

    Six +2 (L52) SO: 113.0%

    Six +3 (L53) SO: 114.5%

The percetnage of improvement is small but some would consider it worthwhile (I do).

One would need to balance six-slotting a power this way against the benefits of other things: Extra slots in Hover to make it a power you could have on at all times during combat (helpful against Knives of Artemis); extra slots in Swift to affect both run and flight speed; adding slots to Sprint to help with slowed movement (against Circle of Thorns Earth Thorn Casters); extra slots in Enervating Field for recharge for when you get mezzed or the anchor is defeated in the middle of a large spawn; extra slots in Combat Jumping for Defense to help cover the lowered defense of Unyielding at low levels.

However, it is something that would definitely be of a low priority and put off until other things are done. Or I get bored.
