    The Alter-ego

    Would be very nice indeed.

Of course I want an extra cossie for just that. But only with strictly civvie clothing of course.
  2. The spirit badge is very hard to get but so is the Ostentatious badge. Only for the die hard badgers those two. Perseverence is all you need.

Don't forget that T o T is very good for getting tons of xp. Especially in big teams. So you are not wasting your time out there.
  3. I am missing some awesome dayjobs I would have liked for some of my toons. No Golden Giza......

Oh well still enough to be excited about.
  4. I got plenty of zombies today doing ToT though (this was on def). Also a fun thing to do.

And frankly who cares about the invasions on Def? I don't, I am not expecting a big enough group to spawn EB's so i dont bother.
  5. I got plenty enough to play with plus the shields and pain domination thing if i fel like trying out something new.

I rather have new powers then a power form villian/hero side made available to the other side.
  6. Ooh thanks for the update PraF. I will make sure my toons are logged out at those places i expect to be a day job area.
  7. At the OMG stop giving me warwolfs bring me zombies and spirits now! point here
  8. Well, as anybody suggest taking up Divine Avalanche, a power I thought was absolutely gimp. I will get that one asap to give it a try.

I am not happy to waste any mob on the way to a hossie/glowie or any mob for that matter. I am playing someone who cant be seen etc. Not a brute who likes to beat anyone in sight to a pulp. I got a nice brute who just loves doing that. For me a stalker is about stealth and a surgical strike. So i think i will still try to avoid the kidnap missions.

Glad to see that I am not the only one with a big mayhem problem on my Stalker. So I guess no succesfull bank robberies for me as I have given up trying to get parties on villains (I welcome them of course but i wont go looking for em anymore)

Any more suggestions to improve the chances of my stalker ever seeing the 50's?

Weird. What database are they using which is limited to 1024 chars?

I thought Ravens objection was more down to the fact he doesn't like being able to know a characters backstory from just "looking" at them, that it was a roleplaying one.

As a total non-roleplayer and someone who gets bored easily I like reading bios, even the rip-off emo ones, whilest waiting for people to gather at mission entrances so I'm all for this.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Didn't say database, I said field. It depends entirely on what type of field they're storing the data in, to be honest; as well as what database server they use. In either case, it was said many many many moons ago that the limitation was down to field size. No db admin liked to mess with db schema's if they don't HAVE too.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Had to do it often enough

But yeah it sometimes can be a bit of a hassle. Especially when you have to change the fieldtype as well. That could create even more problems.

Ah the good old times of the millenium bug where changing databases was part of the fun They had to recruit and train tens of thousands programmers to do just that.

Of course it is doable if they consider it a very good QoL thing.

Persistance was the best way I found to make my stalker easy to play. At higher level she can fight damn well, has self-heal and if all esle fails (which it rarely does) Placate comes in handy lol

    [/ QUOTE ]

And how did you deal with hostages ambushes and mayhems? Plus the EB's?
  11. Placate is needed of course. Problem is that you can use the AS on the first and the last opponent because it will be interupted by enemy attacks.

As i said, IF you have the initiative this is manageable.

If however your hide is rendered useless (ambushers, relentless ambushing mobs who follow you all over the map and hostages) you are struggling to keep alive. Running away is not an option because you will agro other mobs.

As for defenses. A stalker without hide is way less survivable then a scrapper. The stalker is designed to be an egg with a sledgehammer. Which works well unless the opponent is immune to his one and only true defense.

I dont even do any mayhem missions anymore. I just let the timer do a timeout because either the longbow will kill me or the hero and his goons get the honors. Escaping from jail is a pain as well.

So my question remains. How can I enjoy playing my stalker? For the record: 25 ninja/ninjutsu.
  12. When you edit a room there are tabs under the room description. 'Stats' 'lightning' and 'info'

You need to select 'lightning'. And then it is time to start experimenting.
  13. The stalkers secondary is not much of a defense imo. Compared to the trusty scrapper who was made to run headlong into mobs and survive. The Stalkers defenses arent up to that job.
  14. Yep looks great. I am starting to get curious about the new sets. Now to decide which character is the weakest link.

What use are powers that call in any of the Scooby Doo gang? They'll just dismiss themselves as soon as trouble starts!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ok what is the specialty of the scooby gang? Find a mob, start screaming, do something very annoying then run run run.

Sounds like taunt to me. Very handy power.
  16. Well you can argue about how much is enough and when is it getting to much. But frankly I don't mind that much. Though I prefer to not enlarge the decription but to give the players a 'diary', which can be read by anyone who wants to do so for the novelles. That way the descriptions can stay short and a fun little read while you wait for the team to assemble while the people who want to create a 16 page background can do so as well.
  17. Blegh,

Trying to play a stalker and yes they are very good at assasinating people. But that is all they can do.

They cant fight. If the assasin strike fails you are seriously in trouble. No defenses to speak of, no health and your other attacks dont do enough damage to finish fights quickly. Basicly you are a terrible terrible scrapper without your AS.

Ok you can run from a failed AS strike. However and here is where i am getting more then a bit frustrated.

Mayhem missions with longbows and heroes that see you even when hidden.
Ambushers that keep following you who of course see through your hidden.
Hostages where you have to turn hide of or they wont follow you around (yeah right in theory when you stay real real real close they can see you).

Those missions are HELL. Cant describe it any ohter way. Haven't tried them out on EB's yet. But I am sure they will struggle with those seriously as well. Especially when they summon something, anything. Finally there is the lack of teaming. Now teaming on red side is something that almost never happens but when a team appears they don't want a stalker. And why should they, be reasonable a bane is better then a stalker in every single way.

So, how can I turn a major disapointing AT into something that is fun playing? Anyone?
  18. Background stories should be short. Not a novelle.

BTW how many characters is the room now? 255 characters perhaps?
  19. Don't log out on the street then. You wont be on patrol and thus no double xp.

In I13 you CAN choose which reward you want to have.
  20. Them and their dog, there is always a dog.
  21. You know how all those dasterdly schemes come to an end don't you?

    CURSES!!!! Foiled again!

I like the idea. Even with Fat Controller.

Basicly it would be a board train mission right? Not something like an event?

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, like I said, like a board train mission within a "Board Train" lol

    [/ QUOTE ]

So the answer to my question is yes it is like a board train mission. The map of course is a train.

    Yup like the idea.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
Well, fire/ controllers are kind of mini-MMs once they get Imps. A fully pet-based Controller set could be interesting...

Otherwise, if we were doing a LEADER class...

    SUMMONER:
Ancient ghosts and mighty spirits of justice put themselves at your disposal.
    Damage type: Energy
Pets: Poltergeist, Angelic Knight, Champion Spirit
Spirit Storm: The spirits of fallen citizens may not have the power of your mighty legion, but they want to help - and can at least distract the enemy! (as per Tornado)
Divine Blessing: you're on a mission from God. So are your party. (Full team Build Up)

    SWAT COMMANDER:
Tired of being second place to heroes, the PPD strike back with new tactics and fearsome leaders.
Pets: PPD Riot Cop, PPD Ghost, Hard Shell
    Main Damage: Lethal/Smash/Energy (Assault Rifle)
CSI Training (analyse enemy defences for +Acc and +Dam buff)

    BONDSMAN:
A brave few of the ordinary citizens you have rescued are inspired to join your quest for justice.
    Main Damage: Lethal/Fire/Ice (Dual MultiPistols)
Pets: Special: your Tier 2 and 3 pets are pretty much like the Thugs MM, but the first-tier pets would be randomly chosen from a pool of possible pets with different abilities... after all, you could never tell who's going to answer your call to justice first!

    A few potential pets:

    - Private 'Tec: you help him crack cases, he helps you bust heads. (Pistol/Tough)

    - Forest Ranger: this guardian of nature will use their trusty bow and stealth to help you through the urban jungle (Archery/TrickArrow/Stealth)

    - Man-Cub: They tried to make him into a warwolf, but he's all right naaaoooooowwww... (Claws/SR)

    - Minor Arcana: cute, geekly little witchling who's tougher than she looks. (Emp/Psi. Special vulnerability: Joss Whedon).

    - Gunny: this ex-Marine might be a little on the... paranoid side, but that's pretty healthy for a Paragon citizen. And as far as you're concerned, he's semper fi all the way. (Sniper Rifle/Shotgun)

    - GeekLord: You rescued this potential evil genius when he was well out of his depth and now his cunning devices are at your disposal. (Energy/Devices)

    Special mechanics:
-Prove Your Worth: A Leader has to show they're worth following before others will join them, so no pets are available till Level 6.

-"Morale" bar: Starts at 1. Each enemy your team defeats boosts their team spirit (Acc/Dam), as does having their leader close to them. At maximum morale they will truly become an unstoppable force scything through the enemy (immune to Fear/Hold/Slow).

-Demoralized:If they are abandoned by their leader (out of range) or a comrade falls (ie: prevent pet death if at all possible), morale will fall to zero and they may flee the battlefield.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Interesting concepts. I would defenitely try them out if they were implemented. I love MM and a class like this is well worth playing.

Only problm i have is the question: Do we need another class that is basicly about soloing for CoH?
  24. Would be nice though i fear that 3dent is right and this is not doable right now. Shame but there you go.
  25. I like the idea. Even with Fat Controller.

Basicly it would be a board train mission right? Not something like an event?
