  1. From your reactions it is obvious that most (including me) are willing to pay a bit of money to get some nifty goodies. Most consider this to be a good thing as it brings extra money to the developers and help them create new fun stuff for us to play with.

The jet pack and the mission tp are things that I am less happy about. Because they can be used to replace travel powers. Granted, the jetpack at least is very expensive but it saves you two power slots. I won't pay for it but i am not the competetive sort. So far nobody seems bothered by it. I dislike the thought of the mission teleporter however. Once more it saves on travel powers and it will make the zones even more deserted.

So the next question/musing would be this.
Where do you say enough is enough? This would give those who pay for extras an 'unfair' advantage?

    Some examples:
    Teleport to mission door.
A ranged attack that does high damage
A ranged attack that does extreme damage
    A ranged AOE effect?
A melee attack that does high damage
A power that gives you esentially stamina
A Fly power faster then a fully slotted Flight
A power that makes you more 'resistant' to damage like the paragon protector for 1 minute.
A power that gives you a nice pet that not only looks nice but is actually usefull in combat? Say a single MM minion?

    Where would you say stop?
  2. Don't anyone realize that dual pistols will be a 'gimp' powerset? It will look cool ofcourse. But it will have the same flaw the AR got. It will do the most easily resisted damage type.

As an AR blaster myself I can strongly advise against that. Even though I would immediately roll up one if they do come in play.

But I think that most people would be very dissapointed.
  3. We can/could buy the jump pack and the handy pocket D tp power.
We can buy the wedding pack.
We can buy the cyborg pack with a special boom power.
We can pay a monthly fee for a flypack
We will be able to buy a valkyrie pack
I am sure we will be able to pay a monthly fee for the mission teleport pack.

I understand that a lot of these packs can only be developed thanks to our willingness to buy them. For that matter who doesn't want to collect all cossies?

And with the new travel packs you can forget about getting a travel power and concentrate on making a nastier build then ever before. This is what makes me less enthousiastic.

What will they develop next? More travel powers? Special attack powers that are slightly better then the excisting ones or give a handy power that makes hero life more easy?

I pay a monthly fee for this great game and I expect that I will be able to be as effective (perhaps less well dressed then others though) as any other player. However if people can buy a special advantage by paying more and more to NCSoft I will be saddled with a lesser build then the other players. I don't want to be 'forced' to pay a monthly extra just to be as effective as my fellow players.

So what do you think about this development? Do you share my concerns? Do you think this will be a good thing instead?
  4. I don't do PvP. Never liked the concept never will. So waiting for base improvements until it can be used for PvP is not a thing I am waiting for. What I like though is to improve te bases. So gimme my Bling!

Yes, the wreckage is both satisfying and useful...
But too violent? Like I said, theres no blood. And is ramming a katana through someones spinal cord not violent? Or burning them alive with a flamethrower? Or ripping them into little bloodied chunks with four spider arms of doom -gribble-

    *ahem*
But yeah...Just one of those things >.>

    [/ QUOTE ]

You are right of course. If push comes to shove. You are playing a character that is supposedly hurting, maiming killing fellow human beings. That is very violent of course.

But there is a slight difference between fighting armed and dangerous opponnts you have to take down to get your objective and killing unarmed innocents just for the fun or lazyness. It is a bit more evil on the evil scale.

    CoX On The Mac

So Mac Users can start playing this game now as well?

Well the more the merrier. Didn't know the mac community was big enough to bother developing games for. But I like being surprised.

BTW what mission teleporter? Can't find a link to that one?
  7. I doubt that Nemesis plotted this thread to derail though.

Fact remains that there is no background story anymore for events. That is a shame considering the work done to make em.
  8. The south side of the dam is the only entrance to the underground i can find. Of course first you need to know how to get to the south side of the dam.

    Two rather different subjects, but while Im here;

    1. Why are the civilians in Mayhem missions targetable? It the most annoying thing, trying to cycle through targets, and you keep wasting powers on them. Can they be made either un-targetabble, a la Hero-side, or can they be killable, which is perfectly fitting for villains and will add much entertainment and a sense of satisfaction -nods-

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes it is anoying. Very anoying even sometimes. But the Devs did it on purpose. As you notice they keep running over towards you in a lot of missions. Just to stand in the way and be anoying.

I would like to be able to mow them down if they annoy me to much. But that would spoil their purpose to annoy us and probably make the game to violent.

However there is a plus side to things. Something the heroes lack.

At least we can WRECK things and get badges for it as well. Which is nice.
  10. You are right.we are missing the background story this time. Of course it isnt needed, hardly usefull, won't change the event in any way etc. But it is nice to have those. If alone for rpg reasons.

While we are at it. Most of the lower level zones have bacground stories. But the higher levels don't and that is a pity because I am really curious about quite a few things out there.
  11. Yeah it changed a lot since the start. I came in just before they released the arena (i believe that was issue 3).

Thats what i love about a well developed game like this. It keeps expanding and getting better and better. Best thing is that because we alt so much, even the low level new stuff is nice to have.
  12. BTW what is this Defiant Events channel called?
  13. But you have to admit. If you don't know where to find the underground tunnels in there or how to get past the dam it is a lot less fun!

    It is an evil place.
  14. Groovy. Thanks for spotting this piece of lore. More to speculate now.
  15. Lol.

Sorry ninja but i knew this was going to happen. First people were very mad that the invasions didnt came as often as advertised. And now, after just a few days, people are starting to complain that they happen to often.

    Can't win here.

The only solution I see is to make events like this in the future to be something that doesn't happen very often. maybe 2 times a day max. That will keep the community sharp and interested for a longer period. Or it would cause them to complain even harder.
  16. Looks great again. No idea how she does it though but I can admire a good job when i see it.

Of course i had to rewatch the its time to start video again as well. Which is my fav of her work so far.
  17. I remember a miner strike in the midst of a Rikti Invasion. Was quite fun to have to deal with the Rikti and a GM as the same time. Even though it feels right that an invasion of any kind cares about a puny event in a given zone, it is not a practical thing for precisely the reasons you mentioned.

So I approve of this suggestion.

    88 out of 100

    Not surprised here.

This IS a good game. 4 years of running in a highly competetive market is the proof of that.
  19. So the player who reacts faster wins right?

So a player with a faster connection gets a distinctive advantage. Especially when the other player is one with a poor setup who struggles with lag issues.

Then there is the fact this is a mmorpg, not an arcade game from the past. Whoever wins in a fight here should NEVER be (fully) determined with the reaction speed of the players.

    /Unsigned.
  20. Nemesis is a guy in a power armour right? Nobody knows if he can live outside his power armour these days. What do you need to craft somebody inside a powerarmour?

    A doctor.

Who is a brilliant doctor twisted enough to do things like that? Vazh. You know Vazh the man who can control unliving materials to do his bid. How difficult would it be to do the same to living matter?

So who do you think is calling the shots?

    People, let's just stop it.

But frankly... Dealing with grirfers IS something better done by game team than by players or else irt would be like early UO. To quote well-known article
    [ QUOTE ]
The "evil player", when called on this behavior, then claims to be an integral part of the game world. Evil needs to be fought against. It makes the game interesting to have someone to hate, right? I mean, they're so altruistic! It's a public service, being an [censored]. Hard work and all that. Lost your house? Stupid newbie, everyone knows to carry 30 boxes and 20 furs to hide your key under so it takes a thief at least 10 seconds using a 3rd party macro program to steal it. Killed while hunting? Stupid newbie, suck it up and deal. Learn to fight and maybe someday you can be one of us.

<banned topic> may or may not be solution to some playe not having enough teams, but I strongly suspect it isn't. Add in fixation on that particular solution and imagining Axis of Evil straight out of Colbert's Report opposed to it, and you've got what you got.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Of course 99% of those griefers are typically cowardly bullies. Why else go grief someone in a safe environment? Or hunt people down who stand no chance in ever hitting you back? If you like to prove you are the best there is a better way to do it. It is called PvP and you can do it in the arena's or even dedicated warzones.

    [ QUOTE ]

The door mobs spawn at about +2-3 lvls higher than you if your on a team. Far too high for one thing. Also, given how nasty the Lieutenants are, it detracts so horribly from the 'fun' of the event when you faceplant every two or three minutes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have personally found the spawns way too easy even when dealing with multiple doors at once and teamed with two relatively inexperienced players.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The bigger your team is the nastier the mobs. In a group of 8 they are +2, in a group of 3 or more you get +1 mobs. For solo and duo it is +0. This was quite a surprise the first time this happened to me!

Y'know... that never even crossed my mind... I'll do that before my sub runs out.

  24. While we are at it. Wouldn't hurt to name those veteran pets as well.
  25. Most of my heroes and villains alike border on the edge of good/evil sane/insane with occasionally dibs into the howling madness. Most come from twisted upbringings and bad things that happened to them. How they dealt with this is what makes them a hero or a villain.

So I guess its manticore for me. At least my heroes main surely is. Though my namesake (villain main) claims to be more like a Nemesis. But that is probably my vainstreak talking here.
