If it is easy or not to successfully recruit people is a matter of perspective. I find it an awful thing to do and from experience I know that I am not the only one.

Most teams fall apart once the leader drops. Why? Because people HATE being the leader. They HATE to have to do the whole invite thing.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not wanting to be the leader and hating recruiting is not the issue I was responding to. The OP stated that using tells whilst recruiting is terribly time consuming - I merely argue that it is easy and relatively quick if done re-using tells.

This is a totally seperate issue to whether or not you want to do it, or how politely you do it if you do choose to recruit!

And yes - we could do with better search/LFT/LFM tools.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You are correct. This wasn't a direct response to your message because you are right there. it was more a response on the mood I got from some posters that it is not hard to create a team a d I wanted to point out that to many players it apparently is.

Of course you can say that it is mine and their problem to begin with and that might be true. However, too many players have this problem. I dare say that most of the players have this problem. So I am most definitely not the only one. Therefore the ways of inviting we are forced to use now do not work well enough. Hence the frustration of the OP who is one of the few daring to say a thing about it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, because there haven't been numerous suggestions made about changes we'd like to see to the teaming search function over the last year, have there?

    [/sarcasm]

Sorry to come off the grumpy, there, but that last sentence is, in my opinion, a load of twaddle. As I recall, a large section of the QoL thread that GR started a few months back became about proposed changes to the teaming system and search function. There were literally dozens of people here on the forums expressing their opinions about it, and proposing ideas, using the best bits from other games, and with a few unique ideas thrown in. To hear all of those ideas and posters belittled as "the few" seems, to me, quite insulting to them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes there has been made a lot of QoL suggestions and I hope that will results in some good improvements.

It was not my intention to insult anybody here but if i have done just that then i apologize.

What I was trying and still am trying to say is that in my experience the majority of the players have trouble getting a team together. It is a big problem. I don't see a good solution to that problem. The OP tried to plea for the blind invite method getting more accepted and while i don't do blinds myself and consider it more polite to ask first I understand why he tries that and is frustrated over the fact that so many people snub him about it. Which is of course also understandable. I think we have a big problem here.

I know and guess what I use that option often enough. However imagine yourself having used up that option. Only to have to wait 3 days before you can finish the mission with the stuck mob. OR even worse. You are in one of the last missions in a tf and there is that missing mob?

A game should be about fun. Not about being frustrated and this frustrates me. So yes I want a lets get this over with button.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sounds like a Win button to me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can see that it could be implemented that way but it is by no means my intention to make it a win button. Therefore it should offer no rewards (no xp/inf, no merits, no badges) except for the simple fact that the mission is done and you can move on doing more interesting stuff then looking for a minion lost somewhere in that big CoT map.

BTW just spend 2 hours online. Guess what 0 tells, 0 invites. I don't understand what the problem is. It is not as if people are spamming to invite you.

TBH 8-10am on a work/school day morning isn't exactly peak population time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

True, but this happens often enough during 'peak' hours as well. If you get 2 tells an hour during peak hour then that's a lot. Outside peak hour you won't even have that problem.

We need an "force finish" mission button that lets you finish of the mission despite a clicky or a loose minion running somewhere. Put it on a time limit, don't give xp/inf for force finishing the mission either. It would safe so much frustration.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There's already the "Drop this mission from the current contact" option. Just talk to the contact that gave it to you. Works once every 3 days per character and flags the mission as complete, granting you full completion reward (excluding any mobs you failed to defeat of or glowies you didn't get to interact with, of course.) Specific missions are exempt though, like badge missions.

    Widow capes!

So it would seem Dr_mechano but despite many may requests of putting them ingame they haven't done so. That could mean they are just plain lazy or there are some problems with it. and I keep hoping it is not the just lazy thing.

So: change the name on the badges and bring em back.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't see how it can be classed as a bug when it's already got a different name to the Villain badge...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hmm you got a point there. So it is NOT a bug. A mistake perhaps but NOT a bug. Weird that they suddenly want to change it then.

If you send a tell most people even refuse to answer the message at all. Which is disheartening.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I always make a point of answering a tell, if I actually see it. The problem at the moment is that the system is so borked, half the tells don't get through at all or they are truncated to the point of being completely useless. I think we have to assume that if we don't get an answer these days, it's the system rather than the player.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah nowadays replies getting lower and lower to tells. Maybe because of that current bug or at low levels there are many trial accounts arround.

Also there is a great thing, send from people who wants to join your team. This way my teams fill faster even if i can't get replies to my tells or not many people around interested in teaming.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It is not just the tell bug. The bug don't help of course but before it appeared to many people didn't bother to return the call.

BTW just spend 2 hours online. Guess what 0 tells, 0 invites. I don't understand what the problem is. It is not as if people are spamming to invite you.

    Widow capes!

No idea what it can be, but I assume that those things are somehow hard to implement.

Perhaps, it is the anything going below the knees looks bad thing when animated.

It is however an item I really want to have.
  11. As a hero I don't want a badge to arrest Longbow or Vanguards. However I DO want the badges for arresting traitor Longbow and Vanguards.

So: change the name on the badges and bring em back.

This is why nobody wants to have the star in a team. You have to spend ALL the time you have the star sending chat messages.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ^^^
This. You got a good point here. It is annoying to try finding team members. I HATE doing that. If you send a tell most people even refuse to answer the message at all. Which is disheartening. You need to send out messages to a lot of peoples each taking you that 30 seconds plus the wait for their answer. Which most of the time will be nothing or a no thanks.

That's one of the reasons I play this game solo 99% of the time. Because yes, I will not bother anymore to try to form a team. And I dare say this is the point for most of the players.

If we want a HEALTHY community where players who take the initiative such as the OP gets rewarded for their effort. Where people are willing to take the star we will have to change our attitude. Not just the attitude of the arrogant people who blindly invite but also the attitude of the arrogant people who don't accept blinds.

For the record: I DO ACCEPT team invites be they blind or not.
  13. [ QUOTE ]

... Of course, there's always the deep, dark fear I've nurtured ever since the mission architect was announced. With the ability to create your own content, and with possible attractive PvP features and minigames coming, it's possible that NCNC wish to make CoH a self-sustaining MMO, with the users providing all the new content. They can then focus on CoX 2. Of course, such thoughts really do fill me with dread.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not afraid of that. Lineage I still got updates and events despite li2 being its sequel.
  14. Zone hopping.
A small pruning of missions would improve the game. They did a few improvements with changing where you need to go in Hollows and changing some contacts location in Kings Row. But I agree that we need more pruning.

    Kill all missions.
I fully fully agree here. I hate those missions and it only has to happen once in a TF to utterly despite them.

We need an "force finish" mission button that lets you finish of the mission despite a clicky or a loose minion running somewhere. Put it on a time limit, don't give xp/inf for force finishing the mission either. It would safe so much frustration.

    Widow capes!

Probably when we get animated hair as well.
  16. Snipers wont help. We now have tp to mission power. And lets be honest. Why leave once you made it safely into Powerleveling Corp?
  17. GrinningSpade

    Rotten Teeth!!

I got loads of candies. Bought with it a few of those fun recipes with it and more badges. I sold candies for say 10 million inf on some lowbies who could use a small inf boost. I can navigate the hot spots for candies on PO and Atlas in my dream now. I busted Snaptooth so often that in the end he just handed baby new year over to me instead of arguing about it. I even farmed WL for merrits! Lowest amount of villains to bring one down was 4 for me btw.

Plus I got ski slope badges. I made bronze on the new slope! Still zero at the old ones but i am not a complete ski slope break a legger anymore. Still a break a legger but hey.

All in all, i had fun this winter event. TO bad flying around the city I am missing those buzzing boxes of goodiness. I am sure they should be there, i even see them. I swear.
  18. Two and a half years for my first one. Only because I wanted to unlock the HEAT and later on the VEAT. THe last levels went very fast when I took the decision to level them in earnest. Sadly once I hit the 50 my characters are done. I only get them out of the mothballing to do some badge hunting. Right now I play a few characters who get pretty close to the big 50 as well. I wonder if I will stop playing them as well once that happens.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Hell yeah, we had great fun at the Zig... over an IRC roleplay session. Doctor Mechano crashed a light plane full of explosives into the outside wall. Messy. Running battle through the corridors, pitched battle in the rubble. Well good.

Shame you probably can't do it as easily in game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

With mission architect you can perhaps. There is a good Zig map available that could be used for a scenario like you described. It is a shame that heroes don't have access to it right now.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
    Besides we got the ZIG.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Which just cries out for some sort of instanced multi level Trial. In fact if you added three dealing with different villain groups. 30-39, 40-49 and 50 only, it'd give us PvE numpties something to do and be fun...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Riot control for example. The Zig is indeed a place with more potential then we are currently seeing.
  21. [ QUOTE ]

People always say stuff like that. But how much damage would a big pickaxe swung by a big and bulky miner do you even the shiniest of armour types? A pointy pick is a pointy pick, and even if the villain is made out of rock, its still going to pack a punch. Dynamite is really quite nasty, hell they use it on mountains...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Very true of course but a colt 45 is a colt 45 and when i start blasting people with it. i expect to see them die messily. Especially when my thugs pour in even more slugs.

    [ QUOTE ]

Personally, I hope the mission maker might relieve some of the tedium of lvl 50 'servitude'. I admit, you should be able to do something more than the radio missions. Destined or not, we play Super Villains. Where is our supas?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Indeed

I was planning to do a follow up one this one outlandish storyarcs but i am tempted now to make a storyline where a supervillain can try to to make a step towards world domination.
  22. Good thing it finally got solved. To bad it took so long though. But in the end it is the result that matters most.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
You heard it here first, GR confims CoX2!!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah he did not say explicitly that they are NOT working on CoH2. So when you calculate in corporate vagueness PR factor and add likelihood of rumors to be true. You get:

Truth = (PR factor/rumor factor) times wishing come trueness = 100% truth!

    I don't like her attitude.

Never come to CoV then. That attitude is very common over there. To bad you can't unleash your wrath on them.

    Swift Justice?

Who had the honor of being the most hated contact earlier then?
