Good work Dr Destiny. But seeing all these great portraits I am missing one thing.
I want to know more about who they are. Would be great if people could put a bio up there. -
You know who you are. The game is boring to you because you don't feel challenged anymore. Everything is to easy. No problem. Doctor Spade has the solution.
First:
Select your main toon(s). The ones with those rare purples and expensive IO's. You know those that has cost 1000 mil inf or more.
Now click delete. Then confirm the name and press the confirm button!
Done that?
Good, you are on your way to find things challenging again.
Didn't do that?
Well it is obvious you are not ready for a challenge. Move along now and don't bother us with your complaints anymore.
Right for the next phase.
Uninstall mids hero designer. It is a great tool but not if you want to be challenged.
Then use the empty character slot to create the worst AT you can imagine. The one that you used to smirk at as that AT was just so underperforming in your opinion. Give him a nice name and for once a nice bio.
Now for the challenging part. NO IO's allowed, no power leveling allowed, no inf transfers allowed and of course freeze your difficulty at the highest possible. While we are at it. No Raptors, no veteran Powers. None of those tiny edges you are so used to.
Final challenge, don't team with your usual crowd. Strictly PuG's and no, you cannot try to make perfect teams.
That should make things much more interesting for you. Come back when you soloed Nictus Romulus now.
That will be 1000 million inf for the consult. -

Er, yes, thats the point of the post. Unless you do all the reasearch its imposible to say catagoiclly. Feeling a little slow in our self rightious ranting are we?
[ QUOTE ]
Its more than enough to compare the primaries without any enh at all to see which sets perform better and you know it.
[/ QUOTE ]
That is complete and utter an total bull. I've never heard anything so stupid!!
[ QUOTE ]
Maybe what a maxed recharge build can do, but thats it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Because every player has the 1000 million inf required to stack enough recharge to double stack rage! Of course, it obvious now!!
[/ QUOTE ]
1000 million inf? What does that look like?
Tsk, we should nerf every farm party so that it is impossible to get those 1000 mill in the first place. Problem solved. -

Long term experienced players will have a fresh challange for all of their characters if they want and less experienced players will strive to work at their game until they can go toe to toe with a mob spawn that would put the Fear of God into casual player teams.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree there. Since coming back I've not been on much but when leveling my current character I was in a few PUGs who just couldn't hack it. They did find the game difficult. Where as I know a few teams/players who usually rocket through those levels. That's where the balance needs to be struck.
[/ QUOTE ]
That was my thinking as well Mr M.
I normally team with with my SG. We are all highly experienced with multiple 50's of almost every AT.
About the only thing that remotely slows us down is the end of STF.
A rep increase would be very welcome.

Knowledge is power. Having played this game for a long time like most of us have makes it LOOK easier then it is. We know how to do things and what not to do. We know which builds work and how. We know what the tactics are to defeat certain AV's. I think that changes more then any so called 'buffs' we have gotten. -
Only hunt place is Nerva Docks. I found out however that they appear in Steel Canyon Mayhem and according to wiki the ones you find in most radio missions are also of the non Marcone kind. Right now I am trying to get a radio mission with family inside so i can farm that one.
I curse the day the devs decided that they needed to make two family badges and make this one so hard to get! -

The simple fact is that the combination only appears overpowered to a minority - and then partly because they are only considering certain aspects/scenarios in which the combination excels. To everyone else it's probably seen as highpowered with some weaknesses comparative to other combinations - which many combinations are without being overpowered.

^^This.
My SS/WP Brute for example excels at soloing. A thing I like about her as I use her mainly to solo a lot. Just as my Stone/stone tank loves to call AV's and GM's wicked names and laugh at their attemtps to hurt her. I know for a fact that stone stone tank is NOT a good soloer and I doubt that my Brute would be able to deal with the hurt that my stony deals with so much ease.
I remember a TF (think it was itf) where we had a stone brute and everybody was praising the brute for being able to tank anything that was thrown at us and make it look so easy to boot as well. No way that my SS/Wp could have done that. I tried and failed miserably.

Things which come to mind as sticking out temporally like a sore thumb:
Outbreak is still Outbreak, coming up to 5 years on. The city hasn't been able to help or contain the Contaminated?
Sam Wincott is still missing, 4 years on.
The Hellions are a 'new' gang on the street, according to the contacts. 5 years on.
Any contacts refering to things x years ago from the time of the contact being written. Rare, but I think it turns up.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well rewrititng everything would be a bit to much effort to be worth it. THe things that needs updating most is those parts where the story clearly is progressing. A good example is of course the Rikti invasions or a revamp of at least parts of the Hollow Arcs to reflect that the zone is about to get less volatile and the gangwar is nearly extinguished compared to what it used to be.
Some things never actually do change much. There always be new gangs appearing out of nowhere. Might as well keep the Hellions as there is no ongoing background story about them. Sure you can change their looks and powers and names but what would basicly be the point? And considering the various villains willing to contaminate people. Outbreak doesn't need to change at all. Also remember that the only reason you go to outbreak nowadays is to get that badge right?
I think the smart way to do this is for the Devs to consider which arc they want to advence in the timeline and then do that arc. Everything at once would be nice but not practical. -
13 pages of people being very very very against more nerfing.
2 people in favor of more nerf experimentations.
Seems that the majority is against it for one reason or another.
As am I. I love my ss/wp brute. The first brute that I actually was able to level beyond 20.
Don't wield the nerf hammer. One balancing fiasco is quite enough for now thank you. -
I never soloed an AV. I have failed numerous TF's. I even got defeated with my WS/SS brute against a lowly boss.
Yes the game can still be a challenge. -
Oooh, now that would be an interesting development. And a moral dilemma. Somewhere in that crowd is a person waiting for a chance to kill you. Now you could do a preemptive strike but he could be one of the civilians you are sworn to protect.Collateral damage.
-
Good thing I bought mine a while ago. Still have a few slots free even. I wonder if the special packs go up in price as well.

Mix them up a bit. After all, we have the wonderful function that is Oroborous now.
Relegate old missions that have outlived there days and stick them in Oroborous. Or even introduce a Museum of Heroism or something, where young Heroes could learn about past exploits, and even take simulations to see if they could do the same. For Villains, maybe have an Arachnos Megacomputer with historical notes, etc, or Ghost Widows holo-library, for example.
Then we can have some new, up-to-date missions and arcs, that will be new to new players anyway, and refreshing to Veterans. Yes, it would be a lot of work, but having things stay the same for so long does wax thin after a while.
[/ QUOTE ]
I like this idea. It should be something easily accessible for new players. Perhaps a special contact who can send them through training scenarios? A mix between ourobouros and the MA but then to be found inside the city hall or one of the universities.
Anybody else got some feelings about this subject? -
I like the idea but why use the secondary powerset and not the first as well for the corruptors?
-
There are more gaps and way to little SF's for us villains but yes it would be nice to have at least 1 of those gaps filled.
-

Like them but to make it more an SG reward lets make it that more then 1 SG must have done the same arc/tf. Say 10 or so to earn an badge with associated trophy. -
Evolving vs Static Timeline.
This came up during the capes at level 1 discussion and I thought it would be an interesting subject to discuss about.
Most of us have leveled a few characters up to 50. Most of us have learned a lot of secrets. We have stopped numerous wicked plots and helped out quite a few more or less deserving persons. Then we go alting and what happens? We have to redo the whole background story again. We smirk and say things like stupid contactname don't you know that xxx is a traitor or you cannot trust yyy? But in the end we don't bother to read the sometimes excellent missions briefings and get on with 'arresting' things. It's as if we are living in a giant Groundhog day episode. Of course a few things have changed. Like the Rikti invasion for example whch makes some stories utterly redundant. You say that there are Rikti hiding down in the sewers? Well guess what, they are dropping bombs on us right now so excuse me for not caring about those not bothering to kill me right now.
The question is what to do with this?
1. Nothing, the arcs are for the newbies in this game to enjoy and wonder about. It would be nice if some new arcs would appear so the timeloop would expand a bit.
2. The majority of the game are veterans and it is about time that the timeline starts moving ahead. That mean that some missions have to be scrapped and new arcs to be written to represent the new timeline.
What do you think? -

And we all agree that Auras need at least another explanation. At the very least they should be based on Origin.
Now for consensus about how Granny Baker will get her tommygun before she gets to old! I found out I can farm Steel Mayhem mission. 3 bosses in each. That means doing it 34 timesAnd who know she might get lucky and bump into a newspaper mission with the correct mooks inside.
[/ QUOTE ]
Can't you get a higher level friend to save a mission with Family in it for you to farm? Or let people know you're looking for a Family mission, so they can save it for when you're available to farm it?
[/ QUOTE ]
Strangely though I think I have more chance of getting a mission with the correct family fraction in low level radio missions. I think that the family you meet in other missions are the marcone type and I don't need them. So I hope to bump into the right family in one of those radio missions then try to get me some badgers to hunt for the untouchable badge. And then muhahahaha the tommygun! -

Have you seen how many people walk around in a valkarie cossie? Why? Because it is new and shiny. Everybody loves getting fun stuff. Even if it is just one cossie part.
[/ QUOTE ]
^^ This - which is why if you were going to make them available from level 1, do it as a veteran reward. Remember when wings first came out? It was City of Seagulls! Now you rarely see them (unless on a Valkyrie)
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, I wouldn't mind that at all. I think it would have to be bundled in to one of the early ones though (3 or 6 months) because the chances are you would have done a cape mission by then and if you hadn't then you are likely to be the type of player for whome having a cape at level 1 would be a major benefit.
You know what, I wouldn't even mind if capes were available on all characters after you had completed the cape mission on one character... perhaps through a special accolade?
That would be more of an achievement wouldn't it? Like getting access to the epics. You've achieved something once and so therefore you have access to this special item for your new characters.
I'm all for keeping the wonderful experiences that I had for the new players as well. I do question, however, how wonderful the cape mission is for those who start the game with the Valkari cape and what sense of achievement they would get out of it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Less achievement then I had unfortunately and for that I pity them. But I guess I could live with the special accolade thingie or vet reward.
45 months still need a good vet reward -
It a good thing there is the option to drop missions. That abandoned sewer run is a prime example of a mission to be dropped immediately.
Btw just done the cape mission and I concur that the location of the person you need to speak is a bit erm far away. IP could use a tramway or something to travel through it. -
Hmm Perhaps i should make a special mayhem build for my brute then
-
TG you can do so in the game. But it is annoying to not even be able to speak your own language without having to get hindered by this filter. It still amazes me how many words are considered profanity by a society who learns their young kids to shoot with guns.
-
[ QUOTE ]
So what you're saying is that they were put there purely to be annoying. I'd have thought they'd have more sense than that. [censored] customers off is the best way to get them to go to the opposition. There's enough frustration in this game with the constant nerfs, bugs and some very strange decisions without this sort of deliberate nonsense.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well that is my theory. Especially since you can attack them, worse try using the tab and guess what they are in the enemy chain and notice how they always keep running near you? Following you in fact? Sure they are handy for healing but still. -
I was to busy to do much playing this weekend at the good times. The moments I did, it was hard to get good teams so I hardly leveled at all. But i did do a nice synapse.
