    Any need

    Funny thing happened today.

Two people left the group I had just joined because people started to swear (I did not partake in the swearing part btw). Especially when they tried to avoid the profanity filter.

So apparently, some people do mind. I wonder what such people are doing playing a game where you 'arrest' people by shooting them full of holes though.
  2. I am with Col_Blitzkrieg here. If I can't solo with them starting from level 1 up to 50 then it is not a good toon for me. So Trollers and Defenders and their red side equivalent are all out. Never managed to level a troller beyond 20. Worst are buffing characters. I hate to spend looking the whole time for buffs to run out.
  3. [ QUOTE ]

And yes, the shadow cysts are epic, a great challenge - but does there really need to be 10 in one cave map? And yeah, fix the lag.

    [/ QUOTE ]

See that mission as a warning. If you keep dying in that cave then you wont be taking out Rom either.

    Retake Cimerora

Tone down Romulus' HP and Damage a bit. Reasoning: So Romulus can become easier with unusual and slightly weaker ATs/powersets.

    [/ QUOTE ]

no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no

People love that taskforce because its a challenge, dont tone it down!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I probably haven't done the ITF as much as others but I will honestly say that sometimes I will be virtually screaming at my computer because Rommie just refuses to die and other times when he has dropped like a lead weight!

Sometimes I can't honestly tell what's going on that makes it work/doesn't work so I say leave it as it is.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That goes for me as well. I am always stunned when we take him down. But one thing is for sure. Every time I succeeded in taking him down was when a few of the people leading us knew what they were doing.
  5. Its working fine for me. On both Firefox and Explorer.

    Widow capes!

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Suppose you are right. Suppose adding widow tails is easy.

How do you then explain why they have not been added yet?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because Jay has been busy creating booster pack cossies that actually generate cash?

Edit - not that I'm suggesting the widow capes are easy, it's probably a combo of Jay being busy and the capes being tricky.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Probably.

I fear that Jay is kept busy doing other stuff. Important stuff I am sure and that less important stuff like widow capes that only a small portion of the player base will ever use gets plowed under. Especially as it is most surely tricky and time consuming to get it right.

So what can we, the player base, do to make the Developers aware that we would really appreciate their efforts to bring us those capes? Remind them that we do care.

    That's all we can do.
  7. About the ITF TF. No changes are needed. It is a tough one but it can be done with a healthy mix of toons. Only thing that would be nice is if they could make lag hill less laggy.

About Posi. This one can be quite challenging but it takes way way way to much time. Throw out half the missions.

Same things go for the other early TF's

Things I really miss about TF's?

    A souvenir.
And the possibility to read the debriefing and pre briefings. We are only getting half of the story here.

    Widow capes!

    [ QUOTE ]
Well, trenchcoat tails are not widow tails, and there's nothing to make the existing NPC widow tails scale properly to larger or smaller characters... and no version of it to snap properly to male or huge body types.

Basically, NPCs are all the same size. And often all the same body type. What looks good on them may often only look good -because- of this. Making it look good on an assortment of various player body types and scales takes work.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I understand that and i am patient. But its two (or three?) issues ago, my patience IS running out.
  9. No don't change ITF. It is a tough TF and a good example of how finding out about suing tactics to defeat a tough opponent. Most parties cannot take him out without knowing what to do.

I rather see that other AV's would require tactics as well. Not just more applied brute force.
  10. GrinningSpade

    Sorry man!

Now lets hope he reads this.
  11. Rofl.

    Well happy Cake Day then!
  12. [ QUOTE ]

But one good way to give yourself a decent challenge is to form a PuG made up with people 2 or 3 levels lower than yourself, of tricky mob types and see how you do then.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That is a good way to make a higher difficulty setting then what we currently have.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
I'm surprised no one has yet mentioned the upcoming Architect. After all, if you want challenging missions, surely the best way to do that is to create your own?

I think playing other people's storylines is going to play a big part in the future of CoX, and add hugely to its longevity. It should also quiet the challenge driven crowd as they strive to create missions which test their resolve.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not sure how much control we are getting. But I won't be able to place the mobs myself. Which for me is a shame because you can make life harder when you place them smartly.

Remember the Mercy island mission with all the snakes and their eggs? That one is easy when you know how to do it but rush in and you will faceplant. You can make missions more challenging with smart mob placements where players have to figure out a tactic to make things work.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
im not sure but i think the tv arc with the msh tht involves family n memesis might spawn family bosses in 6-8 man teams. maybe we should do tht one time (after i check:P)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Could be a good one. I want in if you dont mind a lvl 5 sk (and a few of my other toons want it as well without much interest in leveling up.
  15. [ QUOTE ]

Sure you can gimp your char in order to have a challenge but i want a team challenge.
And since most players wont gimp a char for a challenge the others in the team will be normal chars and you will just be a player which isnt contributing to the team....

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ok I suppose you got friends in this game. Make a pact with them, make a SG for example. With the sole purpose of making gimped characters and teaming with them. Then if you and your mates wants to get challenged you take out the "loser" squad and fight crime.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Skipping IOs etc strips away reasons to love the game. My idea:
Start a new toon, and chose AT and powerset according to your imagination rather to that you believe works best in the game.
Skip most "mandatory" power (health, stamina etc), and take odd powers that you haven't tried out (perhaps presence pool)
In short, make your character so unique as possible. This wont make the game impossible, just increase the difficulty without removing features.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not a bad idea. I always try to make an interesting character based on what I like to play and sounds good. Sometimes it even works out nicely. But the Stamina stays. I am addicted to that power
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Interesting idea! Out of interest, have you deleted your Main toons and Solo'ed Romulus?!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Are you daft?

I am not the one in need for the game to be much more challenging. I am always shocked when I notice that somehow we have beaten him.
  18. It would be nice if you could get badges for it though.
  19. How about a few extra options:

    Like:
    - Player debuffed
    - Villains buffed
    - No IO set bonus
    - No inspirations to be used.
    - No enhancements whatsoever
    - No accolade and or temp powers.

Basically the Ourobouros list with as extra the no IO set bonus. Not that I hate those, but they DO make the game easier.

Or what do you think about:
-Random enemies. (every mob spawn will be from a random group)
  20. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
That should make things much more interesting for you. Come back when you soloed Nictus Romulus now.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Bah, If you fancy a challenge:

... Unless you are ambidextrous, Take your most proficient arm (right handed in my case) and strap it to your body in a sling so you cannot use it for the mouse, This means you have to use your left arm (odd arm) for both controlling the mouse and direction and typing (approximately triples response time).
Next, dose your system up to simulate the foggy drowseyness you have with post-op general anesthetic and painkillers as if you were in orthopaedic surgery not 48 hours earlier.
Next, answer a recruitment call for help for a team requiring a Defender anxious to complete the MoSTF after their 3 failed attempts.

Take part in said TF - Complete TF successfully - Collapse from exhaustion.

Then dream up more sadistic ways of challenging oneself.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Done only part of that You got a wicked wicked mind. Join the dark side your talents are wasted on blue side.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
The ways of dealing with this and providing us with an invigorated challenge rather than dumb us down again are there. But someone with imagination has to look for em. And you know what I think about CoH in that department.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Whilst I agree I think the point was to say if we currently want more of a challenge then we can create that challenge ourselves, we don't need the devs to nurf us in order to do it.

I do think that a greater level of difficulty could be added to the game though. Personally, I like the new level of difficulty idea brought up in the other thread. Then more content could be added.

    [/ QUOTE ]

While I am all in favor for more things to do with my 50's including hunting for rare IO's and purples there is currently fro me at least not much point in doing so. Yes I like more new content. Yes I wouldn't mind another difficulty setting above what we have now. But these things take time.

So far there is enough challenge for me left in the game. But for those who have outgrown the challenge curve a self induced limitation could provide them with renewed fun. It won't be a thing for everybody of course. But it might be something to try.

    *Poorly disguised rant*
    Didn't do that?
Well it is obvious you are not ready for a challenge. Move along now and don't bother us with your complaints anymore.

[/ QUOTE ]Or you could stop throwing a hissy closed-minded fit about what other people think and want. You say "us" as if you represent the playerbase as a whole. Aren't we all high and mighty.

Tip: Optional additions to the game won't bother -you- if -you- don't turn the options on. Nobody's asking for a total difficulty increase, they're asking for more -optional- stuff to do that's actually challenging, like the LRSF or STF.

All this thinly veiled "IOs are evil" talk is just plain stupid. Either you're venting because you suck at making inf and are jealous (like the old "PvP is evil" crowd), or you're just trolling for no real reason.

(Before anyone points fingers, no, I don't have purpled-out 1000 mil inf toons. The post was just plain stupid.)

And if this was meant purely as a joke, my apologies, but it looked too real, considering the kinds of posts we see here every so often.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Still seems you got hit by shrapnel.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well part of it was a joke/rant against those who complain that the game is to easy and we need nerfs. Especially when in my mindview (true or false) those people do have the 1000 mill toons and the uber AT's. Perhaps I laid on the sarsasm a bit to strong. And no, I don't see much use in uber lvl 50 characters myself. I wouldn't know what to do with them to be honest. My mains are normally collecting dust while I happily fun around with alts.

The other part however is less of a joke and offers some things to do to challenge yourself more.

Because you can ask for the devs to make things harder (which may or may not happen but they wont happen now) or you can make things harder for yourself and regain some of the fun and challenge you had when you started this game so long ago.
  23. Compared to hunting these bosses that's awfully easy fast and quick.

    SS and WP

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
As for it having no weakness; is the weakness not that it has no self heal? Yes, it has regen, but no heal.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Indeed, if there's more damage incoming than you can regen back, either from a nasty boss / eb / AV or because someone in the PuG just scattered the group to the 4 winds there's little you can do other than pop insps and try desperately to kill them before you die.

My Claw/Willpower scrapper has had this issue a few times *Glares at Nocturene and some Lost bosses*

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yep, try tanking Rom using a SS/WP brute.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
Also, never use anything but brawl.

    And play the game blindfolded.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You stole my notes didn't you?
