This code system you offer will only work for forum readers of Union and Defiant(maybe can spread in time), but we still have Zunkuft and Vigilance on EU and US servers.
[/ QUOTE ]
Clearly, if this system is going to work, then it needs air space. On our forums, on the american forums and on Zukunft and Vigilance as well.
For testing purposes, I made a testing arc that could be used as introduction to the Mission Code system. It even has Mission Code in the title
If people started using it, then other people will see the funny code, wonder what that is about and start looking for answers. They can find those on the forums and even in the searchable mission itself with a handy souvenir where you can look up the coding.
All it need is people willing to spread the news and use it for their own arcs. -

instead of AV0 for no av, try just leaving AV out completely. same for all other parameter codes that have a zero value.
[/ QUOTE ]
You would need something there though. If I had an arc that I mark sd1cn1av1 and someone else had sd1av1 you would need to search for wildcard characters to pick up both arcs. As one is missing the additional element.
[/ QUOTE ]
The current search engine doesn't care about searching for sentences.
If in the above example you use "sd1 av1" then both arcs would show up.
The reason why I use a combination of two letter and one number is to avoid getting false hits. Search for av and you get thousand of hits where someone used a word with av in it. However nobody is likely to use av1 or av0 in normal sentences.
A combination of 1 letter and 1 number might work as well but would be even more confusing to work with and the chance of an unlucky hit seems more probable. -

Suggestions? We press for decent search/categorisation in the client browser.
Until then use cityofguides - they're taking decent steps to a better (categorised) search, show reviews and are a darn sight easier to pick up and use than any arbitrary sequence of codes.

A good resource (going to be), but not handy when you happen to have a machine who doesn't cope to well with alt tabbing. -
Well one badge should be implemented.
Debt badge. If you can get debt (and xp + inf) during a holographic experience, then it should count toward getting the debt badge. -
As are mine, feel free to review them.
Blitz, do you know what you have gotten yourself into? -

I say it is very easy and you disagree.

As do a lot of people. And so they won't use it. And your system is of no use to you unless other people use it.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am well aware of that. But every system needs a start. This is the start or the finish of this suggestion. If everybody agrees with you praf then this idea will die silently.
On the plus side for me. That would free the arc slot I now use to test this concept. -

but once you had deciphered that code and lots of people using it, then you would be able to find the content you like to play much easier.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, I would have to look it up each time. IT IS TO COMPLICATED.
And lots of people wouldn't use it BECAUSE IT IS TO COMPLICATED.
Anyway, I don't have to much trouble finding decient missions, a literate introduction, and a wide range of enemy groups listed are usually good clues. But there are plenty listed on this website even, and whlst some are better than others, I don't think any of them are farms, or made without any thought or effort. I'm still working my way though them, so I have no reason to use the in game search function.
[/ QUOTE ]
It is no use to argue how complicated the system is. That is an objective thing. I say it is very easy and you disagree.
But be glad you haven't tried to find content out there. As I try to level a lowbie with MA content only, I find it quite a challenge to find an arc designed for low levels. I would love to be able to use a system like this. Or even better a proper search engine. -

Are you suggesting people are hassling the HoF?
[/ QUOTE ]
That is one possibility yes. There are other scenarios of course. -
Ok, made a THREAD about my mission code system. Which if people would be willing to use it could help us out a bit.
Until MA 2.0 will reach us with a superior search engine with proper tags. -

I did publish a similar idea earlier and you didnt like it. But that was before we experienced 65000 arcs, a failing rating system and a search engine that does not help you find good stories.
But to prove my concept: try any part of sd0cd0cn0eb0av0lv0ts0
It works. I know its ugly but it does work.
And yes this SHOULD be in the search engine. But it is not there yet. As soon as we got a good search engine we can just drop the whole thing.
[/ QUOTE ]
It doesn't work, because I can't be bothered to decipher the jibberish.
[/ QUOTE ]
It beats trying to find a mission in the blind.
Ever tried finding a low level mission without AT's and eb's that contains a story and is canon?
Answer, you can't
[/ QUOTE ]
Assuming your code is adopted by people in game and can be successfully search upon, how long do you think it'll be before farmers see code, realise people are searching for code and just copy and paste it into their own descriptions, thus ruining the whole idea?
[/ QUOTE ]
What use would that be for them?
But yes every system can get sabotaged if people want. -

Still, it's a very confusing system and it would be much easier to use signs/pictures or something similar to that.
[/ QUOTE ]
There are NO signs and pictures available for the search engine right now.
This way you use 2 letter and 1 number to make an unique code.
You only search for those things that interest you. If you want challenge just type cd1 av and you get missions that will provide you with a challenge and av's -

We all know that thew current search engine is not up to the task to help us find the arcs we want amongst the 'drivel' out there. The rating system seems not to work that well either. Of course we can use outside sources to find the nice arcs but with arcs coming and going that will be hard taks to keep up to date.
Perhaps it is time to use a code system. With that system we can search for special tags that are not likely to be used in descriptions anywhere.
Here are some tags we could use:
sd1 Story-Driven
hd1 Humor Driven
cd1 Challenge Driven
cn1 canon driven
eb1 contains x number of eb's
av1 contains x number of av
lv1 a code for level range
0 - for all levels
1 - for very low level 1-12 (pre DO)
2 - for low level 13-22 (DO)
3 for mid levels 23-40
4 high levels 40-50
5 level 50 needed
ts0 a code for teamsize recommended
0 solo or small team
1 big teams
So for example my Love Spurned arc would get the code:
sd1cd0cn1eb0av0lv3ts0
As it is an arc that contains humor, a story, is not very challenging, does not contain eb's or av's and is not created with a big team in mind.
Yes it is clunky, yes it is gibberish to watch but this or an alternative system might be our best bet to get
the content we like to play.
Suggestions, comments, flames, support? -
Longbows cant even guard the senators puppy so consider the statue gone
Btw If we could have a replica of the emerald with a nice little bug inside that would be very helpfull. -
That person could have been me as i have suggested such a system (but i did not put it in the beta). Yes it was clunky and at the time nobody liked it much. However I wish we had something like that right now.
To be honest it would have been coded. Why?
To make sure the codes don't get confused with normal words as the search engine is limited.
Story-Driven would be a less good code then SD1CD0HD1 with 0 standing for none and 1 for a lot.
With the current search engine, If I wanted a Story-Driven Humorous arc and people would use this system all I would need to search for are the terms SD1 and HD1
Perhaps I should try to find that old arc again and ask again. -
I have done that Arc with a fine comb to look for a reason, any reason to not give it 5 stars (I wanted to be certain that I would approve of it hitting HoF) of I couldn't find it.
Of course that doesn't say a thing, who am I after all.
However I do believe that there are not so nice people out there who like to mess things up. Why? I have no idea, I am not a shrink. The only ones who can shed a light to the matter of spite voting are the persons who can look at the votes. If there is suddenly a high increase of 1 stars, then you can bet something fishy is about. -
He WAS in the HoF. I have seen that myself. Then suddenly poof he is gone.

Problem is that they must decide who to aim for. Existing players who want/need more MEAT or new players who have enough meat but the bones must be up to specs compared to the competition. I doubt they have the staff to do both.

If you want Arachnos heavies, use Arachnos Heavy Blasters (the ones normally seen in Recluse's Victory), only with the faction "AeonCorp Security"
[/ QUOTE ]
I like this idea that way they could have the sameAeonCorps security outside all the facilites.
Which reminds me of somthing why are archnos a enimy group in RV but longbow arent Archnos are there because Vanguard requested Lord recluse ofered there help surly they should be freindly faction atleast out in the open.
[/ QUOTE ]
Noooo, the security is the ONLY thing that sets the buildings apart from each other. Some use police or arachnos drones with or without extra cops. In St Martial you see some interesting statues outside for ward purposes perhaps? Then in RWZ you got turrets, heavies to obliterate anything that comes close.
Change the buildings, keep the security. -
May the cake be extra tasty on cakeday for you!

My bet?
We won't see I-15 going live in less then 6 months. There will be stuff in it that I didn't expect and I am sure not the things we expect to be in it.
I also expect a new system to farm. They brought us:
The normal inf farms, the badge farm, the rare IO and salvage farms, the vanguard merits farms, the merits farms and now the ticket farms. There will be a new one in 1-15 or I-16 at the latest.
I know this sounds a bit gloomy and doomy but this way I can be pleasantly surprised. -
At home they would at least be more secure.
But, if we do the replica trick they wont know unless it is to late. -
I like Mercy Island. I like the dark enclosed claustrophobic gloomy areas. I like the derelict buildings. It fits the story. I agree that yes it is more laggy and yes you have to run a bit long to get to the infected warehouse.
But the first arcs play on the easy side of the wall. It is only after you finish those arcs that you get send inside the much nicer enclosure.
Ever tried Atlas? Where you often have to travel to an area +3 levels higher then you? Where getting in is easy if the clockwork don't kill you but getting out is a nightmare? And lets not mention the go talk to contact x in another zone shall we?
About your comments. Atlas got everything you say? Well Mercy got vendor, arbiters, contacts and the hospital in the same area. Very convenient. I agree it is lacking a big open area but for those you could go to to Cap which is the central hub for the red side.
Mercy got 2 exits, you are forgetting the black helicopter. Considering that red side has no hazard zones, that is exactly as much as Atlas got.
Ps. Atlas has 5 exits, you forget the sewers.
Yes, the rogue islands doesn't have an official sewer system network. Go hunt, kill skulls. Or enter that nice shiny new building called MA.
Conclusion:
No thanks, Mercy is exactly right.
Ps. There is a rogue islands sewer network arc.
