For a safeguard chasing after a villain and friends after he robbed the place sounds like a funny enough thing. I don;t see the likes like LR appearing there. They have better things to do then robbing banks.
For mayhem this is less logical since the villains travel to PC and then returning in triumph to the RI. Of course you could spawn a longbow ballista to run after the villain. But that would be more a harassment thing then fun. -

Also, SFMA is not an indicative of quality.

In my opinion it damn well should be to an extent. If you're claiming your arc is story focused, you've gone to the bother of marking it as such, etc then you should at least have gotten most of they typo's out and tested it a bit. It doesn't feel very story focused to have (for example) an objective saying "Destroy 4 x" which then completes when you kill one x or where the contact says "Hi target" to you as the very first thing you see - unbelievably immersion breaking and easy to pick up from rudimentary testing - surely refine your arc before using the tag makes sense.

the author tries to make a Story Focused Mission Arc. If he succeeds or not is is another thing. There is no guarantee that you will like arcs, even ones with a lot of votes.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, fine with that. Don't mind a story / arc I'm not fond of, it's the broken ones I've got an issue with.
[/ QUOTE ]
The point is that it is the author who decides to flag something as SFMA not the readers. The only thing a reader can do is judge the story on the fact that it is tagged in a certain way. With SFMA I expect at least a story, if not then I will rate accordingly and probably try to warn the author that he mistagged. -
This was the most beautiful way of saying good bye and why. Sorry to see you go for now.

Thanks for the COG Khaine. Sad to see you go after all the hard work you put in for that one.

Any chance of getting a MA area in Pocket D so that heroes and villains could do some neutral missions together?
I think it'd be pretty handy and would save people (RPers in particular) from jumping zones to work on an arc then back to Pocket D.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually asked that today to War Witch and she was not averse of the idea. We even discussed some options where to fit it in. Most interesting idea was on an island outside the Pocket D club accessible in the same manner as the Ski Chalet. -

To be honest. It would not even take much to breathe life into the zones. All it needs is a few contacts and some arcs. With the new MA tools, a thing much easier to accomplish.

Would you really want a few more contacts and arcs in Boomtown instead of a new zone featuring stuff we've never seen before? Can you not see what the forums would look like if that's what we got?
"Great, the competition is on the horizon and this game needs shiny new content and stuff to do. And what do we get? A couple of new contacts and few new missions in Boomtown. In BOOMTOWN! We need more than this... stupid devs... ignoring players... etc etc etc"
When Faultline got its revamp, I distinctly remember people complaining that they'd rather have new zones instead of revamped ones. Even more so after the Hollows revamp. That's the problem that developers have: different players want different things at different times, and, just to complicate matters, players also have short memories.
[/ QUOTE ]
What I say is that breathing a bit of life i to DA and Boomntown should not require as much effort and time as say the Faultline or even the Hollows. Nothing wrong wit the maps, What is wrong is that there is nothing to do in there.
They can do that easily while working on brave new zones with all kinda special goodies. -
Hmmm, I have been on it earlier tonight but i cant connect either.

I bet that if they threw us the gauntlet to make arcs for that zone with the big prize making your arc part of the official canon they would have literally dozen serious contenders to choose from. -
To bad. I think this was a good idea AP.
For me, creating an arc takes so much effort and time that I don't go all the way for something that I last only a short while. Biggest problem being the language. -

Sadly on the 3rd map (I think you mean that instead of 4th - the Warburg map from LRSF) the only place a glowie can be put is where the sole glowie is - inside the building. I truly wish the Devs could let us use waypoints on the navbar for required objectives in some missions, so that it would be obvious where to go on that map to anyone who has not done the LRSF (this didn't occur to my testers and I as we all have done LRSF).
[/ QUOTE ]
Perhaps you can have one of the persons outside mention that he saw the target moving into the building? -
The mostly likely use of non-bipedal rigs is for new monster types. From Guard Dogs to Giant Frogs from somewhere.
Could that mean a new faction? Yes. But the chance of having player non-bipedal is remote at best. -
Hey, been very busy the past few hours, swarming like locust at anything that dares move
Rather fun. -
Well, to be honest I like everything they are doing for I-15. It explains what Jay has been doing lately. It expends character customisation and brings us much needed MA improvements and even 2 TF's Including a red side one.
But yes, I was expecting much much more. -
Mini review: The Renegade Rebellion: ID 117690 lvl 1-14 Neutral
This is a very well written arc. The author manages to write the dialogue for the contact down in a very believable way adding to an already colorful existing contact. Imo he does he better job at this then the Devs did.
He uses the MA engine in innovative ways with lots of attention to details without making it too gaudy. He created a new faction that made me feel bad to fight them despite them being all bad boys. In fact I encouraged them to win.
If you do this as a hero, then you might at a certain moment say: "Up yours mr high and shiny in your pimped up car. This is drawing the line for me." it depends on what sort of hero you are.
The author promised to tone down the ambushes a bit, as they are quite nasty for a a beginning lowbie. The maps are quite large, you need to take something that allows you to fly for the first mission. The 2nd one is big as well and with the 4th map I advise the author to place a glowie out there so players find out that they can enter the building. -

I'm not sure what you're trying to get us to do, there, JD. Could you go through it one more time for us hard-of-thinking types?

Still recovering from not falling of my chair here. Not sure if I can handle that. -

Arcs originally published in beta could be better as they've had more time for feedback and edits but this only counts if:
* The author gives a damn;
* The arc has been played and feedback given;
* The arc was published with errors/improvements yet to make.
[/ QUOTE ]
And, perhaps most importantly if
* The arc actually is polishable at all.
Every arc can be made better, true, but not every arc can be made good.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think my work reflects this.
I give a damm, it has been played, even reviewed and that helped me to improve the arcs, it has been proofreaded to get the errors out.
But despite that, my arcs will never ever be HoF. I aim for an enjoyable arc and that is the best the ones I have written so far can reach. My tweaking now, is to make sure that even the most critical person will consider the current average ratings I have to be on the spot. -
You no longer need to be sk'ed.
You don't need to go to PI so everybody is exposed to this evil, including fresh players who will miss out everything fun about this game.
The farmers could not broadcast their trade in Atlas city so easy.
The farming now is 2000% more effective then it was without MA. Even farmers confirm this.
So all in all. It is BAD. -

Low ID means an arc was in beta. Which means it has been around longer, which hopefully means author had time to both make a decent story and throughly test it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not sure I agree with your logic. By now, people have had plenty of time to playtest their arcs, whether they were in beta or not. In fact, the higher an arc number is, the more time it's potentially had to be tested, surely?
[/ QUOTE ]
Wrong.
The system lowers from 1000 to up. The first arc created would be 1000. The next one was 1001 then 1002 etc.So the lower the ARC ID, the longer people have had time to get the kinks out. Because the best testing is happening by people playing your arc and after that telling you what is wrong with it. -
Thanks for the review leese.
You made one error in your review. The arc = 35-40 not 40-44. Some missions are 30-40 though.
I understand, that you got the level 40 family spawn bug as well. That is highly irritating, it happened to others now and then. Nothing I can do about that I fear, except hoping that the developers fix that weird spawning bug. It is apparently a known issue. As you will have noticed, I did put a warning in the arc telling about this bug.
About the Tsoo, faction. A nasty bunch to fight yes. I could see if I got room enough to make them into a semi faction.
About the grammar. Despite word, despite proofreading, despite people telling me about the odd errors they encounter. It is still bad enough to be mentioned in a review? Autsch.
About the story. I had planned to make it a five parter. But the story lost momentum and the joke became to spun out to be funny over the long time. So instead, I finished it off in the grand finale, tying up the knots as neatly as possible. It is a compromise and I still stand with my decision to make it. I prefer to have my story a bit flawed then to make it unfunny by adding too much.
Edit: I just checked my arc and to my surprise the last mission had jumped from 30-40 to 40-44! No idea when that happened. Probably when I was looking for a typo somebody reported this morning. It is remedied right now. Just my luck that a reviewer happened to pass by. -
Hmmm, one name eh?
Right. Tossing a coin here.
Make it Maestro of Mayhem then. Worst case is that if we are wrong we can still NOT arrest somebody into the hospital. Also very satisfactory.
Personally, I don't care much who I arrest, I just want to make sure that not every dame out there is going to be 'kittenized'.
