Of course zombies have one major flaw. They need living humans to procreate or to feed themselves. They don't have the society us humans build to feed so many. So, once they have taken control of a population they will rapidly die off.
So, even in the worst apocalyptic scenario. You only need to be out of touch for a couple of weeks to survive this disaster. There are enough remote locations and survival nutters out there to make the survival of the human species possible.
I can see though why superheroes like to destroy as many zombies as possible. I will be there next attack -
Quote:Hmm Snaptooth is a chef in a five star restaurant of newly tastes in cruel delights? Interesting idea, so basically we are the lobster liberation front when we free baby new year?I've been slugging through Croatoa lately, and something I read there during the Kelly Nemmers' arc made me think about something I've thought about before:
Are the Red Caps evil?
What I mean is, you find out during Kelly's arc that the Red Caps are sustained by the conflict they have created: quite literally, the suffering of others is their "food."
That being the case, is what they do "evil"?
There's a comment in a George RRR Martin book, Fevre Dream, which roughly paraphrased is: "Without choice, there can be no evil."
If the Red Caps' lives depend on the suffering they create, do they have a choice in what they do? Or are they just like a predator doing what it has to do in order to survive?
(The reason that this is on my mind is that a while back I created an ice/ice blaster whose origin is basically that he's a human/elf hybrid ... and his particular breed of elf depend on happiness and joy to survive ... they're a kind of anti-Red Cap.)
So what do you think? Are the Red Caps evil if they do what they do in order to survive?
However, I think that Red Caps are beyond concepts of good and evil. They were 'created' to be evil. More like an elemental of wickedness thing. They probably would not understand the concept of good and bad when you explained it to them, they just are. -
So how do you plan to get a character back on that rail once he or she drops off? I know that I always fall of even without people making it harder.

I would not know what to do with a big prize. A small one is good enough for me.
-
Let me say thank you for all those wonderful video's you have made. I hope you keep up with the good work.

Quote:Nice, but my eyes are not as nice looking as those. I wonder though if she can see a thing with those in?Dunno if it's much help but you could get a couple of contacts and do a pic of yourself...
One of each?
Or one of these?
Still, lets see if one of those work for an avatar. At least it got a Spade in it. -
Quote:Yes, I got a similar message from her as well. Lets hope the name does not cause any more problems by itself then.I've actually spoken with Avatea about this via PM's now, and whilst revealing PM content with mods is generally frowned up, I don't think I'm breaking any rules when I say that she's allayed my fears and assured me that it was the combination of name and avatar that was the problem. The name on its own appears to be fine.
So, good news!
I shall now climb off my high horse and get back on the penguin.
*splat*
Leaves me on the search of a new Avatar. Shame, I really loved the City of Cute one Psygon made for me. For now I leave it Avatar devoid. I am not much of an artist. -
Quote:Thanks for the support FFM. The future will tell more I suppose.Well, you have MY full support mate, even if you don't want it!
I'd rather us go back to 2 seperated communities than one member from EITHER side have to change their names because the other side doesn't like it.
I foresee more culture clashes ahead. We people from the sensible continent have always considered you Brits to be a bit on the funny side but we are used to foreigners and their strange antics. Those poor yanks don't know what will hit them. -
Quote:Depends on how many more complaints they are getting I guess. So far they wanted me to remove the Avatar at least. When I reread her post removing the Avatar is all they demand of me right now.If it was the combination then are you fine keeping the name without the avatar?
Not a good start for me on this merged forum, I am reluctant to respond to topics. -
A server merge and Doooommmm thread. I am at home now.

Quote:The Spade is a reference to the Spade (card suit) he uses as his handle being the gentleman villain he is. Shovel is not him.I wonder if there's a corresponding term tgats offensive in britain but accepted in the US?
You can change your forum name to GrinningShovel, maybe?
Eco
His Avatar was one of Psygons fantastic City of Cute renderation of a screenshot (i used it proudly on the EU forum). He always wears a tophat, and the grinning skullmask to hide his identity. The colours he uses is darkish purple. Looks real sinister and evil yet refined. To be honest, one of the best costumes I made in 3 years. I loath to lose that avatar as I absolutely love it. Still when it is avatar sized, it does look a bit like a black man grinning . (sorry don't have the url available here)
The post I got was a very polite one from Avatea. Apparently more then one complaint was made and in her opinion, the combination of name and avatar was to easily mistakes as being meant to be offensive.
For the record, I did not intend to offend anybody (I failed changing my name yet even though it saddens me to do so, can't find the form to change it but I stopped using the avatar.) -

This bring back memories. Now all we need is a good DOOOMM thread and I feel at home.

It seems that this initiative has run its course. Time to unsticky it perhaps?
Unless, someone wants to restart is now we have more contact with our overseas heroes. -
Well, got some problem logging on, but here I am. Must say that I miss some swell topics we used to have back on the continent. Anyway for now.
Hello America. -
For Starters I would shorten his legs. The man looks like he is wearing stilts. The legs are not in a good proportion to his body.
Further, with classic costumes you want classic footwear. Should be sandals or as you have opted a brownish color for the clothing look for boots with a fur or rough leather look. The problem now is that the boots look modern while his clothing is old.
Of course you can always forget about togas and kilts and go tuxedo. Tuxedo is always good, trust me on that. -

BTW, 99% of the costumes are not well suited for combat.
Heels, capes, long hair, glasses or things the opponent can easily grasp. Clothes that are flammable or offer no protection against bullets. Lets face it, the only sensible clothing would be wearing as much armor as you can get away with.
It would be City of Armadillo!

Actually, all the types of fabric we wear are specially made for fighting - that's why you never see holes, rips tears marks or stains on them, and they're also bulletproof - it's also why everything costs so much at Icon

In that case my heels are special heels that allow me to run faster and have improved balance.
Besides, I fly. -

Some other historical styles that would be lovely.
The British Redcoat with Pith helmet and his counterpart the Zulu warrior (We got the shield, now the rest)
If we got cowboys then where are the Native Americans?
And most importantly:
The true bowler hat for the proper English Gentleman. -
Create an event that is the trigger for example a lot of patrols. For each patrol you add, one normal spawn does not appear. Add enough patrols and the map will be empty.

To elaborate why not. (this was discussed in detail in the past by persons actually into animating. Check out that thread if you want the technical reasons why this won 't happen).
If you look at the characters running now then you notice that longer people seem to run slow while the dwarves seem to zip along. If you do this with walking, things are getting even worse. The walking speed will remain the same despite the length of the legs. Which makes the shorties walk at running speeds.
Then there is the problem of how long it takes to make a step and how much distance is supposed to be covered in a single step. Meaning that for shorter legs, they will be 'gliding' further then the step they take. With longer legs it is the opposite. They will 'slide' back with each step.
It would look utterly silly and immersion breaking in the extreme.
The only way to do it, imo, is to let players walk at different speeds according to the length of their legs. Requiring more data to be processed resulting in more lag and cpu time required. Plus a lot of programming for a simple looking animation.
I'll wait for an engine upgrade thank you very much. -
However, it is unlikely that we will get a walking emote. Because it is apparently hard to make it work and look convincing with our ability to adjust our sizes.
-
Well it is obvious that we don't get all the information. I must say that I find the leap of faith that a known criminal would prefer to give a malignant chip rather to her brother instead of giving it to the person who paid her a bit out of the blue. Leave alone the fact that she did not just return the chip to Positron when she got cold feet.
This is all assuming that she found out what the chip is about before she was supposed to hand it over and that she cares enough to betray her employer.
Fact is that both Nemesis and Crey know enough to find this brother of hers. So if they are the betrayed customers they are likely to want to have revenge.
Lucky for us, we know his name and roughly his age. So he should be able to pinpoint with a little datamining. He is also probably a hero so he should be registered as well. Lets talk to him.
And erm just wondering, you didnt slip to miss rebecca that we were trying to arrest her earlier? -
Problem is that we have harassed 2 groups now and found nothing of the wonderchip or any other stolen property including a certain gem that I want back. Last chance is hitting on Arachnos. Perhaps we could try to arrest random Crey and Nemesis and interrogate them right?
Or,
We go after the source. There is one person who KNOWS who paid her. Lets ask her? Throw in a pardon and witness protection if you have to? After all, it's not her own life at stake here. Plus if she would never have sold that wonderchip to mr bad, then she might be willing to talk faster. -
Talking about epic missions.
What about Atta? One mission that could last up to 3 hours, where you would recycle half your team and where having an emp in your tean was a great great boon. Saved running back from atlas AND doing the gauntlet of the Hollows in those days where you did not have a raptor either.
The whole Striga Arcs where good fun as well. "Can't we just let them kill that doctor?"
