The ability to add more ambushes was removed because it was exploitable. What you want is still possible though.
You can create patrols that come after a certain action and even battles. -
Played an arc lately, where there were a lot of patrols and hostages/allies without enemies to protect them. Not one enemy to fight in the whole map. The idea was that you search for clues in an CSI way. Was a novel experience. You had to click glowies to end the mission.

Great ideas in there. Especially #1 with some added ideas from Samuel Tow. Would love to develop such an island. Shame that it is unlikely to succeed.
The 2nd idea is also a nice one. Do a mission to develop a masterplan and then unleash it on the poor unsuspecting Heroes while you cackle maniacally. Sounds like fun. Of course, the heroes should be able to do something similar.
Coyoteshaman got it right as well. Just a little editing will make us feel more villainous and be the most like-able way to make us feel less lackeys and more like proper villains.
I fully support any development of any of these ideas. -
Somehow, I think that the Glamrock style would even better.
Platform boots, Crazy flared pants, Open jacket and a cape with a collar to put the Barron's cape to shame.
Power: Guitar Noise Assault. Once in a hour an attack that does minimal damage but disorients everyone in the neighborhood. -
I agree with Scarlet Here. Not sure what to do about it though. Perhaps they could change the default for the MA that you only see the non completed non voted arcs?
-
Of all your arcs, I liked A.E.'s Premium Quality Mission: "guaranteed qualityyyyLOADING ERROR 0.000459" ID#148476 best. Especially the way it reminded me of a certain game and how support works there.
The other two were nice as well. I had to try out the bunnygirls of course as I don't want to have more competition (there can be only one real Gunbunny out there). The villains first day job was interesting if you look for a reason why you became a villain. Problem is that when you got a background this will clash with it. So for me that one was not right.
Keep up the good work.

This one deserves a category of its own.
Lets call it weird/nerd/special category.
Arc #27552: Apocalypse Cow. by Bovine Avenger. You will not believe the amount of work that went into this one. You will be dazzled by all the puns, good and bad (I understand that there are hundreds now!) -
It is a pain that MArcs need to get changed every time a patch is brought out. I know why they make some of those changes, but it is annoying.
The least they can do is to make a FULL list of every change they make so we, the architects, know exactly if we have to redesign our arcs again. -
With mixed feelings I nominate For best use of complex mechanics:
ID: 91838
Author: Hero2
Title: Constantinaple's Jones' Family Secret.
The Author has managed to put a whole arc in one mission on a smallish map. This is still the best best example of what you can do with stringing events together. Unfortunately, the writing is lacking. It needs more and better clues etc. Still, I think this is a good benchmark to hold against any competitors in this category. -
I suggest that we split up the best lowbie arc category into.
Training levels 1-11
DO levels 12-22
It makes a huge difference if someone uses enhancements or not.
Arcs that start at level 1 should be considered training arcs and be judged by low level unenhanced characters of say level 6. While DO level arcs could be tested by someone in their pre Stamina say 14-16.
Best comedy arc:
ID: 115174.
Author: Igor Blimey
Title: Verner von Grun's Extraordinary Extradimensional Excursions
Best Mid Level:
ID: 1444
Author: Days
Title: Twisted Tongue
Best lowbie Arc (training level)
ID: 6017
Author: Tangler
Title: Mercytown, the one with the fish -
There is no need for a best of Europe category. So let just forget this category. The only thing is that we may need an European sponsor for prizemoney. A rich one, because i am certain that Europe arcs will win a lot of the categories.

Easiest way to empty a map is by flooding it with patrols once a certain objective is done. Every patrol takes up 1 spawn point. Add in an ambush on the largest setting and you would get something like you described. Big ambushes plus a few patrols spawning everywhere including the room you are in. That could get messy big time.

What DA needs is a few linked Story Arcs. Put in some contacts that like to do something about the Banished Spirit problem or want to find out what is going on. Put in a nice TF to round it up. With a little effort DA could be as nice as say Croatoa. Same thing can be done with Boomtown, Perez Park, Creys Folly and Eden. Turn them into a more hazardous normal zone.

Quote:I remember that arc. It was only 1 mission but the author had managed to make a whole arc in that single mission. Most impressive. But I have no idea what it is called unfortunately.Oh and just to clarify, I don't dislike chained objectives, I just thought there were too many instances in your arc that didn't warrant it or made me think 'oh, now what?' In the ship for example, I know why you made it chained, but as a player I could see no reason why my hero can't just make a beeline towards the boss and bop him if I just wanted to.
I just spent the last 15 minutes trying to search for an old arc I remember playing that did chained objectives in a very neat way, but I suspect the author may have taken it down now (it was about aiding a spirit in a warehouse full of Family iirc). -
Quote:First Car Crash Pugs, then meeting old friends. I am going to enjoy this Dxp weekendIn all fairness the best time to play on Union or Defiant IS double XP weekend. Simply because of the fact that a lot of people on your Global list whom you haven't seen in ages should be back for it, your SG will be fairly full and the global channels will be hopping (hopefully).
Whereas if you visit the US servers chances are you'll be an anonymous face in the crowd. Plus, if you pick Freedom chances are you'll experience the awesome that is the Freedom Car Crash PuG.
I'm looking forward to seeing some old faces show up next weekend! -
Quote:Sounds better and better. Can't wait. The real entertainment during a 2xp weekend is reading the forums for the whiners complaining that they can't get onto Freedom, and the bizarre logic they use when making suggestions that are supposed to "fix" the problem.
I remember one doofus that actually tried arguing that the only way to solve Freeedom's overpopulation problem would be to shut down the low pop servers.
/em rubs hands in glee
Insert maniacal laughter here. -
Well the arbiter does suggest that you visit the tailor. s does any trainer at level 20. But most people forget to read that part.
-
Signed, Stamped and Sealed. Especially the 2nd option.
(Insert 2 pages of Wanna have here please)
Did I say, ooh shiny gimmy yet? -
Quote:I never had the pleasure to log onto Freedom or Virtue on Double Xp weekends. So I will have to take your word for the necessity. Never had any overcrowding here in the EU and my trial in the US did not make me believe that such was necessary!Hmm. Your remarks seem to not have any basis in reality.
- The OP post here told us how the queue was apparently needed/used on Guardian today.
- Have you never tried to log onto Freedom or Virtue on Double XP weekends, or other special times?
If so, you would understand.
If you need further explanation, go back and look at all the chaos from threads that get posted by people on the heavy servers during those special events times.
Yes, it is needed. If for no other reason than to stop special event time whining.
.
Of course, now I must check out one of these servers next double XP weekend. -
Quote:Lol, my German is limited but it does not look right. Rather garbled together actually.I think a warning near the server list about servers would be in order. For example, by Zukunft, a warning like:
And similar for the French and English servers, replacing "German", "allemand", and "Deutsch" with the proper languages, respectively.
(As I have no knowledge of German and French beyond a few phrases like "hello" "goodbye" "Do you speak English?" "Where is the bathroom?" and "I love you", I used Google's translater.)
Frankly, I would love to be able to roll alts on Union and Defiant. I'm running out of room!
I have played a little on the German Server as I was out of space. I brought over one of those toons to Union. Now when I play her, it is a weird mix of English and German environment I play in. I asked Support how to remedy this and while I did everything they asked me to. It is still the mix. Makes me smile every time, especially when people team with me and go what what what when there client suddenly sprouts German not and then -
The only practical reason I see for needing a queue system is for use after server merging
That, or they have delusions of grandeur that GR will bring back a 5 year old game to its full glory.
Let's hope they are not wastin precious Dev time to develop a system that is not necesary while they could work on that feature "Awesome Button" we need. I want to touch it. -
This was the official answer we got from a Red Name a while ago. I hope that the differences are so minor that it is easy to adapt so we can have that list merger.
-
Quote:Problem is that the EU client seem to differ from the US client. Biggest difference probably being the languages supported. Is this actually impossible though, or the Power Customisation kind of impossible?
Sorry if that seems a little snide, but over the last few months the devs have proven that when it comes to groundbreaking changes that are of immense value to the playerbase, they have the skill, the ideas and the determination to make it happen.
I cannot think of a game change that would have more value to the EU playerbase than a server list merge. Period. -
Quote:The same is probably true for Vigilance as well. But it is a good opportunity to learn English and lets face it. A lot of the native English speakers is not that much more proficient in their home language.True. Although the numbers are sometimes nearly equal to those of Defiant. Then again, just the english client/no German server is likely to scare the rest away. I know of enough Germans who are not that confident in their grasp of English. Of course that would be the worst-case scenario for Zukunft.
-
I like the idea. Especially since I love using weapons even knowing that they underperform compared to their alternatives. It would take some serious work to make it happen. But they did Power Proliferation, they did Custom Power Colours, they can do this.
The problem I got with it is that it should be limited. Not that I can choose my flaming broadsword against certain mobs, then switch to the toxic one to defeat another. Just as you cannot change being a fire blaster suddenly.
