Hey, nice.

Special Thanks to Our Players
Now back to you, the players. You are the lifeblood of our game. In celebration of our new studio and our exciting plans, and in order to thank you for the fantastic community that you have built, we are pleased to announce the following.
Full Access to City of Heroes and City of Villains®
All players with City of Heroes retail* accounts will now have access to City of Villains, and all City of Villains retail* accounts will now have access to City of Heroes. Players that didn't previously have access to "the other side" will find that they do now. Just log in to check it out!
Debt Wipe
After the launch of Issue 11: A Stitch in Time this Fall, we are removing Debt from all characters and giving you a fresh start. Actual date will be announced shortly. Have fun in the mean time.
20,000 Prestige
Also after the launch of Issue 11, all Supergroups will receive an additional 20,000 Prestige per Supergroup member, meaning SGs could acquire up to 3 million Prestige based upon their Supergroup membership roster! Actual date will be announced shortly.
In the near future we will begin to share more information about our development plans. With this major reinvestment and effort ahead of us, we will take City of Heroes to new heights!

WOW. Guess I'll try to fill up our SG roster as soon as possible! -

I hope this doesn't sound pessimistic (I have no reason to think this will negatively impact the game), but what do the following parties have to gain from this deal?
NC Soft
Cryptic
The Players
[/ QUOTE ]
The parties gain the following.
NCsoft acquires two award winning titles to add to their list of supported games. Also NCsoft is poised to open a new studio in Northern California in a very strategic location where recruitment of experienced talent is located.
Cryptic Studios is able to fully focus on their current project.
The players should be seeing more resources and development for the title they love and support.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks for the response. I wait optimistically for what this may bring.

This is true, been here since the begining of the thread
[/ QUOTE ]
This thread is awesome. To add something... uh...
Did you know that the 5th Column conspiracy nuts were totally wrong? -

Just to head this off at the pass, there is no Anniversary badge for CoV 2 years... we want to get to a point where we only celebrate ONE anniversary a year, like normal folks.
[/ QUOTE ]
You know some weird "normal" people.
Personally, most normal people I know celebrate their wedding anniversary, the anniversaries of their births, the anniversary of Independence day, the anniversaries of certain religious events, and several other anniversaries each year.
[/ QUOTE ]
But "normal" people don't call all of those "anniversaries," now do they? I happen to use words like "birthday," "Fourth of July," and "Christmas." -
[ QUOTE ]
I would relable your title to clearly state this is a User Interface suggestion.
Otherwise the rest looks like a solid suggestion.
Ex
[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe since Ex posted in here it will get a second look. I remember Positron saying that reorganizing the badges would destroy their character database. Maybe he'll see this and reconsider his position... -
[ QUOTE ]
Unbelievable.
These forums just went from bad to worse. Now we must cater to the emotional police because some posters (who apparently are very thin-skinned) couldn't handle criticism. It's become a case of "be polite and agree" or just don't respond at all...even if their post is a classic example a person opening their mouths to confirm that they really are an idiot.
Guess I might as well bookmark the Dev Digest since that's the only interest I've got in reading these boards anymore.
[/ QUOTE ]
You'd think it was the end of the world. They're just notifying us that they will be enforcing the rules they already have posted. -

The veteran scheme doesn't offer rewards, it offers awards once you get far enough into it.

Semantic gibberish. -
Awesome things:
Weapon Customization. Hell yeah! It's a great start!!! I am giddy.
Combos? Dual Blades has a new mechanic? Wild. I'm curious as to the details...
Not-so Awesome things:
I'm not enthused about 'Very Rare' recipes. As if 20 million inf wasn't enough...
Over all, I'm super psyched!!! -

1. The Fifth Column have the longest history of any group in the game of messing around with changing time. Case in point, Ubelmann the Unknown.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not quite. The 5th are Nazis, hence they go back to mid 1940's. Nemesis made his first big American* push in the 1920's.
*even then his name had already been shortened from Nemesis of the Nobility, already a well established Villain.

This is Paragon... without [u]you[u].
[/ QUOTE ]
I think you just hit the nail on the head there. -
[ QUOTE ]
Ok, but I can't talk about Issue 11 or beyond... but that's pretty much what you guys WANT me to talk about so we are at an impass.
[/ QUOTE ]
Okay, how 'bout this:
Is there a Praetorian version of Lord Recluse, and if so, what's his name? -
I spoke with the group co-founder and we brainstormed. He liked the idea of a group of knights who protect an ancient tainted place. Initially, I suggested that place be an Aztec or Mayan temple (tainted by human sacrifice or whatever), but he thought of Ireland and Scotland.
What if there was a king or warlord with a keep (and fanatically loyal bodyguards) up in the cliffs or moors. When he died, he cursed the land, and the descendants of his guards must serve eternally.
The supergroup uniform could be a KILT! YAY!
So now I need to think of a good Gaelic-sounding group name. -

"Knights Templar" rings a poetic bell for me too, though obviously I wouldn't use that exact title.
[/ QUOTE ]
Plus, I knid of think that "Knights Templar" has been used in some fashion. The "Twilight Sword" or "Twilight Steel"
My advice is to start brainstorming several ideas for concepts, names, origins, and causes. Then springboard off of what inspires you.
From what you said, you've on a good start and I can imagine your looking for some knightly theme. The causes your could adopt well you could either represent a broad ideology (like "balance", or "cosmic harmony", or "forbidden arcane knowledge").
However, I would go for something more specific: maybe the group worshipped an ancient deity who's twisting its divine will. Or the group could be what's left of an ancient (fictional) civilization and they seek to restore their glory.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, I'm starting to lean toward an ancient order of knights. I think they may exist to guard an ancient temple containing an unspeakable evil. Unfortunately, the evil has begun to corrupt the knights... Their base would be the temple.
Now, what's a good name for the order, temple, or thing contained in the temple? -
[ QUOTE ]
Maybe you don't understand the whole concept of... concept. You need to actually decide what this group was. Keepers of the sacred flame, defenders of truth, or whatever.
[/ QUOTE ]
If I knew what the group was, I would HAVE a name. I need help with the whole package. -

-
Help me think of a name for my villain group. I have an idea that this group was once a honorable (but neutral) group devoted to some cause. Maybe guardians of a particular place or martial technique. They have since forgotten the ideals they once stood for.
Something like:
Custodians of the Twilit Palace (though I'm not crazy about the "of the" construction) -

Can we get a good week of invasion when sonic powers are fixed?

What's in Boomtown other than the Freedom Phallanx headquarters which holds Reichsman (a 5th Column villain)?
[/ QUOTE ]
Reichsmann is not a 5th column villain. He is from Axis Amerika and the leader of the Amerika Korps. He is an alternate-reality version of Statesman.
Sorry...just one of those mistaken identities that annoys the tar outta me...
[/ QUOTE ]
But if he ever escaped, he would BECOME a 5th Column villain. That's the point he was trying to make. -

Bah. Lighthouse pokes his head in and I STILL get no closure on the proper pronunciation of "Talos."
[/ QUOTE ]
The video pronounces it right. I had to have Statesman (Jack) confirm it himself specifically for this vid.
[/ QUOTE ]
o_O
Wow. I feel like Stan Lee just told me the big green guy is really called "The Helk." -

Well, that was the hardest of Cores.
I love it! I love it so!
Who did the voice, though?
He he... he pronounced Tay-los.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah. I noticed that too. Have I been saying it wrong all along? -

Apparently the tech wings don't even start dropping until the 40s.
[/ QUOTE ]
There ain't no way this is true. -
[ QUOTE ]
Don't forget that even if you can't get the drops on your own, the consignment stores are another way to get what you want.
[/ QUOTE ]
You're suggesting that it's possible to buy costume recipes at the consignment store? Where have you been?
