  1. Magnarsh signed up for my Sister Psyche TF at 7 PM, so there IS something fishy going on here. Hmmmmm.
  2. I think it's the "frozen in stone with your arms in the air" emote that's busted. I have Lockdown +2 hold in Fossilize, and the proc is an electric hold, for whatever reason. Anyway, if the proc doesn't fire, the mob stands there doing the "stunned" animation (which looks really weird when they're encased in stone). When the proc lands, the mob shakes from the electricity in the +hold proc.

    Righto.

MG style list for the Sister Psyche:

    1. Grey Pilgrim (Tank)
    2. Hammy (something that will make my Tank work hard to keep everyone alive )
    3. Magnarsh (Blaster)
  4. I'm going to be running a Numina instead. I'd love to get some more xp my Stalker's way and try out the fun challenge of this, but I really think he's too low to give this a try: there are just so many power picks and slots yet to come for him. He's about 30% def to all, and by the time I get him further along, that will be much further... plus, he'll have a few bonuses from GW's patron powers, as well. I wouldn't want to be the weak link with this one... maybe I'll give it a try when I get higher?

Plus, I'm sure you'll want to start with the time you set up. I know I won't be on until 7 PM Central for sure... lots of grading and other things going on right now.

Or is it better to just go softcapped Shield plus Aid Self in that price range, since I think Shield on a Tanker can be softcapped quite cheaply? I'm not really concerned with concept... I'm just looking the most survivable (assuming moderate IOs but nothing really expensive) Tanker primary that has a damage aura or other +damage function like Against All Odds. I'd imagine Willpower would be the best mitigation (aside from Granite) for that level of investment, but it has no increased damage and a weak taunt aura so I'm not really interested in it for this character.

My only real past Tanker experience is a Fire/Fire... I liked it all right but it was a little squishy for what I'm wanting now (soloing 8-man spawns). Plus I changed servers and don't want to pay for a transfer...
Eh, Electric is something of a wash with Fire, I would say. They both have strengths and weaknesses that will make them better in one situation than another. Elec does have slightly stronger resists, but I can see there being plenty of times when I'd rather have a heal up sooner, which Fire can and will have over Elec. Assuming Mid's is correct (since CoD doesn't seem to have numbers for Elec on Tanks yet), Fire has better Negative resists so it'll probably be nicer for fighting CoT. Elec is the clear winner with Rikti, of course.

I could say more, but that's pretty much it. They both have a +recovery tool with bonuses and minuses that cancel out pretty much (though I still have to wonder WHY Consume has such a long recharge), same for their heals, etc. But really, any Tanker set is plenty robust and should be able to handle 8-man mobs fine (unless they're +4 or something), if you build it well.
  6. Guess it's a Sister Psyche, then. Anyone else want in?
  7. Hey, all. I'm hoping I can get a Numina TF together for Saturday night at 7 PM Central, 8 PM Eastern. If not enough people want in on that, I'll run a Sister Psyche. I'd rather the Numina, as my 44 Controller needs it and I want to keep leveling him up. Still, I have a tank that could use Psyche if the masses would prefer to join me on that.

I'm flexible this time around! Let me know if you want to join in, and what TF you have a preference for.
  8. I believe this would be a VFX problem, and not an animation.

For Sonic Powers, the VFX of the attack will sometimes linger. For instance, if I use Scream on a target, the circular energy "beam" will sometimes linger around my hero's head repeatedly, rather than tracking to the target as it normally does. I can try to get a screenshot if you need more info than that.

Other Sonic users have had the same problem, and someone suggested that this happens when the target dies, but the VFX/animation is still going (which can happen easily with Scream, as it's a longer animation and VFX trail). When the target dies, the VFX has nowhere to go, so it hangs out near the caster, vibrating, until the animation time is up.

This probably can't happen running solo, as it seems to take your target being defeated while you are attacking it (unless you used Scream, than another attack, and Scream caused the target to be defeated). But if the problem is not with the target being defeated as you attack, you might be able to make it work while solo.
  9. Funny, I was going to check and see if the Controller I am leveling up to 50 still needs that. I was going to maybe run that or a Numina. If not the Controller, I'm sure I have another hero that could use one of those.

I'd say AOE is Elec's strength... it's not nearly as strong for ST damage. I'm still debating what to do for my own elec/elec. I kind of want to do a Brute to help make up for the weaker ST damage, but who knows when Going Rogue will get here, either, and I rather want to side switch him.

But anyway, Elec seems a little bit trickier and more "gimmicky" for AOE damage than Fire is. You have to know what you are doing with both to really leverage it, of course, but you really want to know how Elec operates.
  11. Heh, figured. I'll have to find something else to do Saturday night, then.
  12. Does that mean you're running one of these in the evening, then?
  13. Eh, it's not that bad most of the time, but I do try to prioritize things to make sure I don't get burnt out. I sometimes wonder if I just don't roll with Masterminds well enough because they tend to buff more often, but I think it's more because they don't attack enemies enough, get in their face, etc.

Sonic doesn't have that problem (I feel like I'm doing more debuffing than I did shooting wimpily at the enemy as an MM), though Defenders are a little lighter on the damage than I'd like. Of course, I do play a lot of Blasters.

But really, I don't mind too much if I don't have shields, etc. from a buffer all the time when I'm on a squishy toon... I figure if I take too much heat, it's more my fault than whatever protection the buffs would have given. It's a little different if there's no tank on the team, obviously, but I'm otherwise cool with it. I know buffing isn't always the funnest thing, even if you like an AT with such powers.

Heh, I'm trying to keep from going to insane about maintaining buffs (they really should last for longer... two minutes is far too short), so I just make sure to keep them on the melee types. Even that can be challenging if they start to drop when we're in the middle of a fight... it's a bit silly to be handing out buffs when I can help drop the boss that's pounding on the blaster, after all. Though I tried to keep them up well after that... still, nothing can save Hammy when he wants to die... he's quite the popular guy with the mobs. I kept trying to heal him, and then remembered I didn't have Pain Dom powers anymore.

I really wish Faultline had more than one trainer or something. It's such a pain that everything is on the north end. I could have gotten my big aura/shield about halfway through the night, but I didn't want to slow things down and go get it. That will help things as well... the next several levels are going to be dead useful, too. I'll get another -res power (though it has a high end cost), my clear mind type power, and then Siren's Song.
  15. Darnit. Why the afternoon? I could do Saturday evening around 7 PM Central 8 PM Eastern, but not the afternoon. I wouldn't mind getting some merits for my Isos guy.

Though I suppose I don't know if I could run both back to back, unless we were really fast. I guess I'm not the best fit even though I'd like to join in, though it is harder to find people for a Posi (though it should be easier to run it now... you can have Stamina and such if you SK down, right?).
  16. Yeah, I had to leave before we finished the 2nd Faultline arc. Oh well. I wasn't able to get them started with everyone else last week, since I started my account not long before Isos started, so it's not like I missed out on any merits. I'm about halfway to 24, so I'm not too far off, at least.

Apparently I was being mean last night. I was chewed out for joking about how much money Shay has now paid to NCSoft because she got her 60 month badge. I thought it was clearly a joke, since we've all paid a lot of cash to them since this all started, but I've learned my lesson. No more joking from Grey Pilgrim... I shall only be serious!

Sonic is pretty good, and it does play much better when you customize the graphics: it's nice to be able to see what I'm doing (though sometimes the "sonic attack beam" would get stuck for a few seconds, it would keep animating, though I could move away from it. Anyone else have this problem?), and I had more fun with it this week than last because of it. Though I still don't know why Defenders have to be quite so anemic with their damage... it's a bit sad that I can't kill an even con minion with my three ST attacks, and the third is supposedly a "hard hitter." I know I can debuff like crazy, it's just kind of annoying that it takes me that long to kill a minion.

My cape mission wasn't too hard, but it quite a bit more dangerous for me to do it solo with a Defender than anything else, I think.

I just don't feel excited about it after all the adjustments they have made to xp. It takes NO time to get to 20 now, so even if playing without Stamina is super annoying to you, you hardly need a 2XP weekend to get to it very quickly. And really, playing through story arcs makes a lot more sense when you're playing through. As Hamster said, Orobouros is too restrictive because you have to form a team just like a TF when you start: you can't invite as you go. So for me, it's annoying to outlevel story arcs I want to play, because the only way to play them and get merits from them in the future is to solo or play through the whole thing in one night (while your team dwindles, or you may not be able to make a team, etc.).

I do like the double inf and prestige, as I have plenty of alts to feed and a new personal SG. So I'll take what I can get there. But a lot of the coolness is gone from such weekends, and what is left is higher prices and a lot of complaining on the forums from people who couldn't get in right when they wanted (only really happens on Freedumb and Virtue, too... last time I got in easily, and supposedly there were "issues" with people not able to log in for the last one).
  18. Ummm, so see you all there tonight? Harder to get excited about Isos when no one is talking about it!

    You two.

  21. I do have a Stalker that wouldn't mind trying this with, however, he's only level 35. Not sure if that disqualifies him or not, since he wouldn't have as many slots and powers that would help out if he were in his 40s.

Ah, just saw the time mentioned. I could do 7 PM Central, but not 6 PM. Let me know if you want me, in though.
  22. Heh.

I'd also add that tanking an AV is not exactly normal for any Blaster, either. I know there was some Fire Blaster that soloed the ITF, but that's not going to be normal for most players, nor a build most are going to try to go for, either.

My Nin/Nin Stalker is far from the def cap, but he's done quite well soloing the EBs Redside. I would worry about an AV, though, as a couple EBs like Back Alley Brawler gave him trouble when they had a lucky hit streak. AVs would be much more likely to get hits in, even at the def cap.

That seems fubared to me, even if it is intended. Travel suppression is enough, without adding that in. And it really does hurt people with good Regen, too. Of course, I despise how the Malta bots can zero out any character's regen, too. And that's supposedly WAI.

Ever since xp has been smoothed, patrol xp added, etc., I haven't really wanted or needed 2XP weekends. I feel like I level fast enough already. I might use it to get my Peacebringer to level 40, as I have stalled out at 39 with him. I want to get to the next Kheld story arc with him, so maybe I can use this to get him out of his doldrums.

Other than that, I want to keep working my guys through regularly. I don't like missing out on too many story arcs in a level range, as those merits DO add up. And there is the slight feeling that getting to 50 is the end of things for me, as Hamster said. I play a few of my 50s from time to time, but even my Arch/Dev Blaster, who I really like, hasn't been played in a LONG time. That might change after I only have 50s on Victory, of course, but there is something fun about getting a character to 50 through all the content.

I did start up a personal SG awhile back, so I may run with my 50 in that, along with Grey Pilgrim to nab some influence and prestige. If anything, the 2XP events are best for this: turn off your xp and get a lot of merits, influence, and prestige instead.

The inevitable gnashing of teeth from geniuses that ported their characters to Freedumb and Victory will be annoying, but I just ignore them. And hey, maybe salvage prices will go up again and we can actually make some money off the +40 salvage again.
  25. I would think either a Stalker with Nin and def capped might be best, since they have that self heal. Maybe tough, too.

This is kind of a weird setup for any Scrapper or Stalker, though, as most of them are not setup to "tank" an AV. Should be interesting, though.
