Drop a proc in there and it will frequently one shot minions from that boost of damage. Doesn't always happen, of course, but it's a nice bonus. It occurs quite frequently for my blasters with Snipe powers and a proc slotted.
  2. If you want to join in on TFs easily, another good tool is to join the server's channels.

"Victory Badges 2009" and "Victory Forum" are quite good for this. I announce and recruit in there for mission teams and Task Forces, as do many other people. You just need to join those channels and add them to your chat box to see it all going on.

I think the only other addendum is that the default for Victory Forum is for you to be silenced, so you won't be able to talk there at first. However, if you can find a mod for the channel, they can unsilence you (they'll have a star by their name in the list of people in the channel, and there are usually a few on, unless you're on at weird hours).

I would suggest my SG, as we're pretty nice and laid back, but we don't run too many TFs as a group... we all come on at weird and different hours from each other, and only join up for missions randomly, meaning TFs are hard for the SG to plan (doesn't help that we have a few on Pacific time, while others like me are in Central or Eastern: the SG's leader generally comes on when I'm leaving to go to bed, as he's two hours behind my time zone).

Though really, most of the TFs seem to form in those channels... the SG is more for good teammates from time to time, the portals, etc.

    *added*
EB typed faster than me, heh. You probably can't join Victory Badges, as it got full. The Victory Badges 2009 is the overflow channel.
  3. Ah, I thought Flux was way behind or something. But still... a bit too much drama over this.

I seem to recall having this discussion during last session. A little variation in levels is one thing, but the whole idea is to run it through together... or as much as we can. So I like having the level range... it makes sense.
  4. ...

    GG, Ham. GG.

Tag along, Flux, we've had plenty of lowbies join in... it's not like Isos is that hardcore or anything.

And I'm skeptical of whether DC even said this. Ham likes to make things up to add flair to Victory. Or drama. Or something.

In short, take nothing seriously here... it's just a game, and there is a lot of joking going around (and opinions that really don't matter).
  5. Team "Defender City" had a pretty good run last night: started with Striga and ended in Croatoa. If I had been a little more coordinated, I would have tried to get everyone to start the first Hansen arc, as I was only a mission or two in... oh well. We made it through both of their arcs (I'm guessing I'm not the only one to get the Slayer badge) and started up in Croatoa before I had to leave.

We did pretty well... not the fastest since our only damage was our Warshade for most of the night, but we were safe with all the shields we had. The one notable exception to this was towards the end when Major came dashing in to a mission against Tuatha. We were split and fighting two mobs at once... and I think being a Shield Scrapper + hitting a quicksand patch + having Defenders that were too busy to buff made him faceplant rather quick. Sorry about that, Major.

Defenders are kind of like Tanks, in that they use a lot of endurance... it takes a lot of attacks to defeat enemies. Both ATs really should get some kind of an end reduction all the time. And even with a bunch of resist debuffs going, my Sonic does not kill very fast... adjusting the damage up wouldn't be that overpowered, would it?

No doubt the Defender superteams out there would steamroll even more, but soloing or without a lot of buffs, it kind of stinks doing damage with a defender. We didn't do too bad with four defenders (five at the end... leave it to me to grab another defender from the team that was breaking up), but I'm sure we would have been going noticeably faster with a bit more DPS on our team.
  6. What, the bunk thing?

It's from Firefly. In one of the episodes... something exciting happens (to a hormonally challenged male), and Jayne's response is to say, "I'll be in my bunk." The implication is rather obvious about what he will be doing there. Alone.

I thought of other jokes to say about it, but they would all be deletable and bad for my non-banned status, probably.
  7. Say it ain't so!

I'll be there for sure... hopefully everyone will show up, or as many as possible. The more the merrier and all those cliches.
  8. There's a lot of ways to do it, really. I DO like having a bind to switch forms and trays, but you could just put your form powers in a separate tray from your human powers. Before I switched to using binds, I just got used to hitting alt + whatever number I needed for form powers.

Pretty much have to do that all the time with my other heroes, so I didn't notice it much (anything beyond the number 5-6 keys are hard for me to reach, and it's easier to hit alt + one of the lower numbers... some for ctrl +).

You can also go with clicks if that flies better for you: it's even easier to do this with how many trays we can have out.

Binds are great, but it can hang you up if you didn't formshift (because you were still activating a power). Kind of have to pay attention no matter what.
  9. I don't believe so... there is a lot more complaining about resist debuffs on redside, because they are more prevalent (Longbow has tons... I've had Brutes on teams talking about negative resistance, which is ridiculous). The shields in Fiery Aura don't mention resisting it, either.

This is bad design. Does this mean that PBs suck and can't get through normal content on normal difficulty? Of course not. We've already covered that. Does that mean that we should just sweep all the poor design under the rug and call it WAI? Of course not. This game doesn't and shouldn't work that way.
Well, sidetracking a bit here. I do agree that Peacebringers need polishing still compared to Warshades (already posted on that enough here). Not really sure why some of those issues weren't addressed in Castle's pass last year, to be honest (he noticed Dwarf form for Warshades needed a little help, but not the more glaring differences in human powers for Warshades and Peacebringers... well, mostly he didn't do anything, I'm hoping he saw them).

Still, you are being a little overstrong even with this. Warshades can surpass Peacebringers, but their performance has extreme ups and downs, and they weaken in drawn out fights considerably. Peacebringers are pretty consistent in their performance, however.

This has been discussed to death in the Kheldian forums, actually. Warshades hurt a bit in Croatoa and against the CoT, because there aren't as many bodies left over to use their powers on. They have a harder time against EBs and things like Master Illusionists that take longer to kill, too.

Warshades are able to pull off things that Peacebringers can't, true... just wanted to cover all the bases. They both look fun and flashy in play, though.
  11. Pretty much what I've been trying to say, Xenite. There is no AT in this game that is extremely subpar, or "fail." Some are stronger in different situations than others. But it balances out. The great thing about this game is how much all the ATs can work solo and teamed. They can all contribute. Good stuff.

Are there still some wonky powers or mechanics out there that need tweaking? Sure thing. Hence my posting in threads to make minor adjustments to Fiery Aura, Peacebringers, etc. But there isn't an AT that is "fail." Whenever I see a post like that, I know someone has a bias and a major axe to grind.

Bill I would agree that there should be in-game macros specifically for changing Kheldian forms and the trays they are using (though I got by without using binds at all for a long time). Same thing for shields and stuff for human form Kheldians... it IS clunky to drop from Dwarf or Nova into human, and have to retoggle... that's clunky design, I would say. But that doesn't mean they aren't playable.

I have the same wishes for a lot of things in game. I wish Masterminds had better controls and macros for their pets. I wish a lot of powers in game didn't take so long to activate. The issues aren't solely in Kheldians, and the small issues Kheldians have don't make them too difficult or unplayable.

If you don't want to play them because they bug you enough, go for it. Like I said before, I have ATs I just don't want to touch as well.

Oh, never mind, quoting you directly is a reading comprehension problem.
He doesn't like VEATs because of their playstyle. I've read that, as have others in the thread (Bill also responded to those people, saying that's what he meant). Stop putting him in false positions.

If he was arguing that VEATs were gimpy, I'd get on his case as well... they're clearly able to do quite a bit in this game (though even VEAT lovers will agree those first 24 levels are a pain... it's not all rainbows). But he's not.

Debate what people are saying, rather than running to a straw man setup.

    /sarcasm off

How's that Khel of yours do solo at +4/x8 by the way?
Bill, you do realize no one is saying a VEAT can't be fun for some people, right? Or that the things you like to play aren't viable, right?

They're mostly trying to argue against the bias that Kheldians are somehow "fail." (and also the misconception that you can't run one without a ton of cash, as you are implying- my triform Peacebringer is only half slotted out with IOs, and most of those are very cheap sets) Arguing for that does not negate what you find as fun. Memphis Bill or me or someone else not liking VEATs for what they are does not mean we are "clueless." It just means we don't like the playstyle they present to us.

I can see how the ATs are set up, and find what I like. I have mostly Tanks, some Scrappers, Blasters, two Kheldians, two Controllers, and a Stalker. I have difficulty enjoying Defenders and VEATs... not because they're badly set up, just because I don't enjoy their playstyle. Villains are also hard because I don't really enjoy being a villain.

I really have to say it again, look around your bias. Clearly, you do not enjoy playing your Kheldians. That's cool. But it shouldn't make you be dismissive of the AT, either (as you have been more than once in this thread).
  14. I don't know if they are going to implement diminishing returns to PvE... those posts also suggest that he wished things had been done differently, as they are too overpowered now... but that there may not be much they can do about it without causing some major upset among players.

I'd rather see some caps set to defense for Blasters, Controllers, etc. than diminishing returns, actually (and yes, I do have Blasters, Defenders, and Controllers... I've found that about 30% defense to ranged is good enough, really, and I'd hate to see that made more difficult by diminishing returns, rather than caps). More in the interest of keeping IO builds diverse and reduce a little of the over-safe nature of some of the overpowered builds out there.

I'd also like to see some resistance to resistance debuffs... not at all sure why there aren't already.

Dang... I wish I would have some drop. I had one drop on that Tuesday night SG Voo ran awhile back, and that's it. I do play my alts more than my 50s, but I have played them enough to expect more than one drop in all this time.
  16. C'mon, Voo, you know you want to join in. You miss Isos!

Funny, I always fear the Illusionists more with the heroes I'm currently running with. My AR/En Blaster has enough defense to dodge that nasty Mask of Vitiation the Mistresses toss at you, and he can stun and kill them in succession. Those darn Illusionists keep phasing, won't stay stunned, and summon a ton of friends. Not fun for my Blaster or Controller.

I can see the reverse being true for a Peacebringer, since they'd probably get hit by Mask of Vitiation, but be able to last through the Illusionists okay.

You could say any of the 10 items I listed as not being a factor... for instance, Inv has no psy resistance, though they still tank quite well, but it is a weakness (one that some tanks don't have). I am saying that, fire tanks have too many weaknesses, compared to all of the other tank sets.

A good point was brought up that the set is really a hodgepodge due to development changes and the constant nerfing, especially to burn, beyond the changes with ED and the nerf of res and def. I tend to think that was what has made fire/fire, IMHO, less effective tanks. Give me back burn as a tool without the panic, and some End drain protection (similar to elec), and I would be a lot happier playing them.
The problem, however, is your metric.

Is Fiery Aura weaker at tanking (as in damage it can sustain) than the best ones, like WP, Invuln, and Stone? Probably.

But that's one metric. Can it tank? Overwhelming yes. And that's really all that matters. A Fiery Aura tank can be built to tank anything this game can throw at them. And I would prefer to solo or run with my Fiery Aura than most of my other tanks: and I like them all, really.

That doesn't mean Fiery Aura doesn't have some wonky issues that SHOULD be ironed out (Consume and Burn issues, maybe a little more resistance). It can still tank, though.

+2 with how many enemies? I had my triform PB fighting above heroic levels and he didn't have issues soloing. Though I suppose he hadn't fought any Carnies yet, Rikti were okay. The bosses were a little slower, but those Rikti bosses are slow for most people unless you can do rare damage like Fire.

I think the new build I had planned can definitely go ahead. Fun times are here!

As for VEATs, GP, the glory comes when teamed with other VEATs. They can be very fun solo, with lots of AoEs on Crabs, hittiness on Banes and Widows, and shielded controlling on Fortunatas. But the true glory comes about with 2+ VEATs. Multi stacked buffs makes them night unkillable, and the various attacks and debuffs they can bring to bear is nothing short of...well..Epic

I think with PBs certainly, it would be nice if they merged the shields, down to two. You already get passive resistance in the 1st secondary power, why not scrap the second enrg/neg shield and instead give a bonus to the S/L shield that evens out the numbers? Then have the fire/cold shield and add resDebuff or something part to it.
Up the basic accuracy of Pulsar. Far too low atm. And then add something else to fill for the merged shield.
Picked this out in the blaze of posting. Glad you started enjoying it, Techbot. I would say you should get to SO levels for just about any AT, however. You can get a decent taste of Blasters at low levels, I suppose, but even then, they really open up at later levels. I really love my Ar/En Blaster, and it took me until the mid-20s to have him really shine.

And shifting between forms is the true strength of a Kheldian, which you enjoy as well. Kheldians may not be a specialist AT, but their ability to adjust is what makes them stand out. I can tank in Dwarf for the part of the fight that needs it, then drop to human to wrap things up quicker and the danger to the team is gone.

I hear you about the shields as well... doubt we can get them to remove some, however (cottage rule and all that). They are kind of a drag for a form shifter, as it takes too long to retoggle them. I usually only have the Smash/Lethal one until the 40s, to be honest. I may use them more on my dual build WS, but not much on my tri-form PB.

I posted earlier about Pulsar... it really should be a guaranteed mag 3 Stun at the least. And even then the 3 second cast is far too long. I don't know if I can complain about the accuracy, as that's in line with most of the AOE controls out there (Stalagmites for Earth Controllers has the same accuracy, for instance, though they have more slots to deal with the issue, I suppose). Ugh, but the similar Warshade power has higher accuracy, too. I don't care if it's a cone instead of a PbAOE, that many discrepancies doesn't make sense. *shakes head*

I hear you on the VEATs... it's hard not to like them when they buff everyone's defense, etc. (my Ninjitsu stalker loved it this weekend... he was pretty much tanking against the Rikti because of the VEAT on my team). I'm actually surprised they let VEAT buffs stack, to be honest... with those levels you can justify only having VEATs on your team, to some extent... and I know the devs don't like that.
  25. This weekend was also 2XP weekend... I'm sure they were all quite busy. During less busy times, GMs can usually get there a lot sooner.
