This needs to be explained for those of us that haven't read every twitter out there on this. I'm assuming this is a joke, but it's way over my head.

Well, if you're not looking around in other parts of the forums, there are big doings at Herocon.
Some screenies have been posted of the new GR graphics... apparently there will be an option to use the new "ultra" graphics, but they are optional. At least for the COH and COV stuff, not sure if that's the way it works for GR as well, or not. So that's nice, I know some people were worried about being able to play after a graphics upgrade. I'm hoping the rig I made in January can handle this okay.
I do think the graphics look nice, though I may turn off the new stuff sometimes to run with the old, no matter what... slightly different art style, in my opinion.
What else have I seen... demon MMs will have whips, so some will be happy there... though I find it a tad freaky.
Video of Posi presenting here. Haven't watched it yet, so I'll have to watch later.
Sounds like the side switching equals being able to go to the other side of the game, but you still have to use the market you started with (I hope this is incorrect, but it was tweeted/posted). I do not understand why the devs think it is better to keep things all separated, but whatever... they keep giving us different currencies, too.
One nice thing about the Going Rogue stuff is it will liven up the 40s for COH a bit... I'm rather tired of the Praetorian maps there and the reskinned Clockwork. Anyway, thoughts? -
Look, it's another reply to myself!
Anyway, managed to get a Moonfire run going, with not very much effort. Viv joined in, picked up some from VB, and a few from a search (one lost his travel power at 28... I should have recommended he respec, in addition to knowing about the flight packs in the Shard that we told him about).
Moonfire is a decent TF. Arakahn could probably be a little tougher, but she does stand out more/has more flair than the AV in Sister Psyche. I'm also surprised more people don't run Moonfire... it's 32ish merits (might be 33), and it only took us 70 minutes to do it, and we were hardly rushing (though we did have a damage heavy team). No running around from one zone to the next, either.
Good pickups for the Atlas Medallion... might be able to get enough Vamps and Wolves from the first two missions to get those requirements, actually. -
Quote:You certainly have the progression right, but just a few clarifications. Level 25 IOs are only marginally weaker than SOs, actually (about one percent). Having just one slotted isn't going to be much different than having an SO in there. Level 30 IOs are marginally stronger than an SO, but again, only by about one percent.Okay, as others have said here:
- DOs aren't going to cut it. SOs will help.
- L25 IOs are about as effective as DOs. They just don't decay as you level up.
- It's not that anything magically "switches on as you get into the high-20's and low-to-mid-30's. It's a combination of several things gelling all at once.
- Several of your key defenses kick in around this time.
- You finally start having enough slots to slot them out properly without ignoring your damage output.
- Several of your key offensive powers also kick in around this time. Depending on set, this can lead to dramatic increases in ST and AOE damage. So you kill stuff faster and don't have to rely on your defenses/resists to keep you going as much.
- Generic IOs start becoming better choices than SOs
- Several key sets become available at this point.
Generic IOs are arguably a good choice through your whole career. I generally use whatever drops and is cheap until level 12, than fully slot level 15 IOs. You don't have to rebuy things at 20 and you save money there, and that's even more the case for the rest of your career with level 25 IOs, etc.
But yeah, the 20s really bring things together for a Tank if you do it right... Stamina helps you not run out of endurance so quickly, you start having enough slots for all your defenses and offense, which makes you more able to excel. WP was a good set throughout, but it got much better the farther I leveled. Adding Tough and Weave made him ridiculous, and each IO set even more so.
So I was just clarifying a couple things... most of what you said is right on. -
Starting late on the TF... should be there in about 10 minutes, so looking for people around 8 PM Central for a TF of some sort... we'll see if Moonfire happens.
-
There are similarities between the two Khelds, but Warshades aren't exactly cloned.
And I believe the quote you are reference is BAB responding to someone that said casual and purpling out their character in the same sentence, heh. -
Quote:I saw that! /em Napoleon Dynamite "Lucky!"Disclaimer: Not "tooting my horn" as the saying goes. Just FYI.
Anyhow, Dr. Aeon did a review of my arc here. Very helpful for me.
I wanted to share for anyone else working on arcs and helping improve.
Thanks.
Heh. I've been meaning to tweak mine for a long while now, but haven't put in the time, I'll have to do that. -
Quote:Which is why I would prefer him to be an aspect of Rularuu. Much more interesting and creepy.Given what he does with the Dead Man's Deck, this sounds very much possible. He promises the deck to a client (in Longbow, no less!) and when the Warriors don't deliver, he casts a minor charm on a fake one and passes that on without batting an eye. The whole "I don't make a habit of selling fake artefacts, but..." bit is very, very telling. He comes off like a glorified Mr. Boccor - someone with considerably power, but who isn't above cheap tricks if that's what works.
As for him claiming that "this simple man is but a facet of my being," that's actually quite possible. Someone already mentioned how distorted his face was, and we've seen multiple instances of not-all-that beings occupying human bodies. Hell, every two-bit CoT mystic is more than just the simple man you punch in his glowing green eyes. It doesn't make him a god, it just makes him a wizard, and we have tons of those already. -
Quote:If people are expecting the ease of a Scrapper from any AT, that is most definitely part of the problem (and I think a lot of posters do). Scrappers are extremely good soloers and are ALMOST to the point of being overpowered. They are balanced a bit with survivability and their range limits, but they're certainly very strong. You don't have to be a Scrapper to do well in this game, however, and soloing isn't the only way.I don't know if many people would claim Kheldians cannot solo +4/x8 missions or not, but depending on the enemy type in the mission, the build and the players' level of alertness, comfort and commitment, I do know that results vary greatly between I cannot solo this to Tedious to No sweat, can I haz some moar please?
Whatever the best Kheldian results of soloing a +4/x8 mission may be though, I think most Scrappers out there would probably accomplish the same results (if not better) with much less effort, and I think that's what the debate has always been about, the level of effort require to accomplish anything worthwhile.
The balance point is just being able to play through however you want, and CoX is pretty good for that.
As for the Quantums... I thought they took out the stun, and you can resist the damage now (which I think is mostly energy). So depending on what form, shields, and buffs you have, you'll be able to take their hits more. They certainly hurt some, but nothing like they used to. I've finally started plugging away at a Warshade, and I was defeating Voids just fine in the first story arc (level 5-10), and even Void minions used to be a hard thing at low levels (not so much at higher levels, so remember to appreciate that difference). Not so this time around. -
The simplest change would be for the form change animations to be faster. It's rather incongruous that you can drop instantly to human, but going to one or the other form takes a few seconds. It hurts the main strength of a Kheldian, and hurts certain powers as well (Build-up for Peacebringers is a big one I can think of off the top of my head). Cuts into DPS as well.
Fixing it would make Kheldians more smooth, and shut up the naysayers about their performance, too. It would help with this mezz issue as well.
As for the double mire thing, what's the consensus? Did it help Dwarf form for Warshades to make the change? I thought so, given reaction at the time (Dwarf was seen as weaker/harder for Warshades), but I'm curious if people still think so. -
Quote:Eh, others have given their viewpoint, but mine would be... do you really even NEED to test it this way? There will always be diehard people that don't like one AT or another, but if you've honestly played Kheldians, you can't say they're incapable of playing through the regular content (the difficulty setting varying by the build and player). They could use some tweaking, but that's no different than many powersets. It seems my motives were completely misinterpreted. This is mostly my fault for not being as clear as I could be.
I was not suggesting the "challenge" with the idea that a kheldian could keep up with a scrapper.
I was not suggesting the challenge to try to prove that anything needed to be changed.
My idea came to me because there was an analysis that was being attempted to figure out how much DPS a kheldian could produce. But the math was too complicated, what with specific attack chains and time to shift and all that figured into it.
The only way to get a good analysis, in my opinion, was to do it comparatively. This requires a large sample size and a reliable test metric. Thus the idea of using +0/x8 on five separate maps. We know how much DPS a scrapper puts out. If we had a comparative time to complete, we could assume a proportional amount of DPS that is being achieved. -
Most of the 5th Column uniforms look cooler too, in my opinion. The red glowing goggles are pretty nifty. Ascendants are cool looking, as well, I guess, but the Council seems to like it's black and gray: not a whole lot else going on.
-
It's a fun debate to be sure.
My biggest want is some story arcs in the shard. I asked myself a couple months ago why I had never really tried the Shadow Shard content, and discovered that there were no real story arcs... the missions basically amount to paper missions.
The TFs are where all the info is at (other than some Midnighter, RWZ, and redside references)... I want some story arcs there, personally. It's a unique and cool zone (though travel is a bit difficult) that should be followed some more. I'd personally rather have more there than some moon zone or something like that. -
Quote:Hope you enjoyed your resist shields! It was bonfire heaven on the Ham Team!!
But hey.. I died a lot less this week.. so I was fine with whatever he was doing.
Ended up running on the Sister TF until midnight. It was fun! They even chatted with me a little bit even though I wasn't on Vent.
Ended up at 31.5. I think somebody said this, but the electric blaster does really miss that high level short range attack. I am struggling with the attack chain from range. I do really like the melee attack of electric. Those are fun. Well, I guess once power sink comes along it will get more even more interesting.
I would have chatted with you all some, but Escher was the only one who condescended to speak with me while you were on your TF.Left me to deal with a group of PUGgers that had their diff settings too high.
Elec/Elec is all about the Blapping, I think. You have ranged options, but your melee attacks are going to do some heavy damage that makes up for the lighter ranged attacks. Seemed like you were doing okay with that last night. Kept reminding me how wussy my Defender attacks are. Heh. -
Quote:Might be okay once you get some defense from IO sets. I have a MA/Regen Scrapper, and I hardly have to hit my heals sometimes. I think I got him to about 20% def to all, along with the minimal resists of Tough + that one Passive resist power Regen gets.lol Hamster timed his knockback powers perfectly, just as I was hitting Soul Drain...
On a side note, I really really hate resistance based scrappers. In hindsight I should have made this guy an Elec/SR instead of Dark/Elec or even a Traps/Sonic defender. This is the most non fun scrapper I have ever played... besides my Dark/Dark (sorry Des)
And Ham, one of your powers has to do some kind of KB/KD: you toss something out, it explodes, and mobs get knocked back. I remember it well. I know your obsession with your blue fire, as it took me a few missions a few weeks ago to realize that your spamming it negates my KB cone. I use it as my panic button if I'm taking too much damage or run into a mob (in other words, I don't spam "Ambush!" when I make accidental aggro), but I can't really do that with Hammy's Blue Fire of Love cast on all the mobs.
-
Those not on Team Hamster missed a fun debate about the usefulness of Stalkers (and to some extent, Scrappers). Good times.
It's interesting being on a Hamster team... other than my shields, my other mitigation powers (other than -res, I suppose) are useless... he throws out powers that negate my sleep and KB powers entirely. I feel like The Howler plays far differently on other teams, hehe.
Not that I don't have fun, Ham, just noting the difference. -
Quote:As far as a raid goes, it's not THAT complex. Once you learn the trick, this isn't that difficult. The problem is coordinating a bunch of people randomly coming into the zone and saying they want in... especially if your team is full and no one is willing to lead another team (even though all you have to do is invite if someone else is calling out what should be done). So wait, we won't get a chance to take down Jack or Eochia (sp?) without having taken down all four banners in a zone? That's kinda bleagh.
I have to admit I'm just not jazzed to do this, the whole thing seems a tad too complex for it's own good. I also have to deal with my hours - chances are I'll be playing some toons when there's maybe five other people in a zone (I've frequently seen zones empty save for myself). I'm also not much of a badge-hound; I have one toon I sort of try badge-out for the sake of it, but I've skipped some content I don't enjoy at all such as the ski-runs. Looks like this may be another one of those times.
Tally, read through the thread. You DO want to focus on a banner at a time once they become vulnerable (unless you have a LOT of teams going), but before that, you should make sure someone is at each flag. The progress bar just doesn't seem to move if you don't have people at each flag (and 2 people at each can do it). -
I've never had the Halloween salvage drop on a banner event, but that doesn't mean it can't... I've only played in a few of those.
I'm skeptical as well, however... it dropped somewhat regularly from mobs while ToTing, and I think I've ToT'd about as much I have run with the banner events. -
Quote:The Wiki doesn't really say much about how the event works, or strategies.Paragon Wiki is your friend
I had to look it up too... the nav bar thing is a little confusing, especially once the banners go down... I've not had any luck getting to the GM Aspect by using it. If there are several teams in the zone, it's likely the GM Aspect will go down faster than you can say "boo"... and you have to be in the vicinity in order to get the badge for it. PITA, if you ask me.
Anyway, I figured it out from the posting here, and a team I just did it on. Make sure every flag is covered (and while you can do this with one team, you're probably not going to get all the way through the GM with just one team in zone), and defend it. Once the banners are vulnerable, focus on one at at time (make sure one person in the zone is calling the shots, otherwise it's a no-go). After that, you should see a range to the GM in yoru compass... the number will get higher the farther from him you go, and smaller the closer you get. Disperse and find him, and the more people you have, the faster he is. Worked well, and you can make sure everyone gets the badge that way, as well. -
I'll be there for sure. See you all then!
-
I'd be willing to run a different "Halloweenish" TF if people wanted, but Moonfire is close with the Council, and the fact that GP still needs his Moonfire badge. Let me know though, I like to get a solid core started on the forums.
-
Ah, but what about the status bar?
We had a big debate about how to progress the bar faster: do you want to spread out between all the banners, or just all focus on one? It seems to work better to focus on one, from my experience, but I have had a lot of people debate it with me (which is not good when you're on a timer and need to get done fast!). So which is it? -
The Mercedes Sheldon arcs are excellent, but a lot of them do depend on ambushes spawning in. I had similar issues with the Crown of Glory one... it didn't work the first time through, so I had to do it again. Even then, the ambushes didn't run to me: I had to find them.
I don't know if I bugged it, but if no one has, be sure to toss it out there. I may throw this Arbiter Kim's way, to make sure he knows about it. -
Ghosts are spawning just like other enemies. I worked a long while trying to get them last year, to no avail. I got my last 4 needed in about 2-3 doors... so I'd say they're fixed.
For the costume salvage, it seems to be dropping off of enemy defeats now, and it's random. I had three Statesman helmets drop earlier, and that's it. So there you go, MG! You got lucky! -
Used to be you could finish this mission okay. I dashed to a generator and stopped the attackers (though it was being defended by some Vanguard as well), so it worked out. Once I cleared the attackers, it was safe for the rest of the mission, even when that Mantis woman got a couple lucky shots in on my SR Scrapper and dropped him. I went to the hospital and came back, and the generator was still okay.
I wouldn't be surprised if it could go wonky with some of the spawn issues that crop up, though. I love the newer Midnighter missions heroside, but sometimes you can't complete some of the missions in the last arc when bosses don't spawn like they're supposed to.
