Looks like there was a patch today, so be ready and patch early!
Not sure why they had to increase the frequency of events. It started out slow, but now it seems like there is an invasion or banner event going on all the time. At any rate, these fixes will be welcome for teams and Isos:
- Team Interface: Fixed a display issue where players on the same team would not be able to view other team memberÂ’s names if they were located in different zones.
- Team Interface: Fixed a display issue where a playerÂ’s name was listed twice in the Team window when another teammate in another zone was promoted to Team Leader.
- Navigation Window: Fixed an issue where Contact and Mission waypoints did not function correctly if teammates were located in different zones.

I always wondered what they could do for a natural theme, as they already have utility belts, martial arts attire, suits, ties, etc. So it'll be interesting to see what they do to make this one unique.
Hopefully it's better than the science one and more like the magic and cyborg sets. And it had better not have things that should just be part of the game... still not sure why they made that choice for the science pack and the body sliders. -
I used to love how much work dishwashers saved, but then I've had a string of them that try to wreck our glasses, making me hand wash more things than just pots and pans. Ugh.
But I digress. I'll be there tonight... hopefully won't have any hunt missions occur during a zombie raid, heh. -
Well, I went for the ranged defense as it seems like so many mobs like to stay at range these days. It's not always the case, but they do seem to do it a lot. Also, I figured I would be using my stuns, etc. to dope up the enemies close to me, but the ones farther away wouldn't be stunned, etc. So I would want to cut down their damage while I took care of the up close targets. My experience may vary as I level him up, so maybe I'll have to adjust, but that was my feeling on this.
I also know how many darn Marksmen the council uses, and they're almost always at range. My Peacebringer hates how much they slow him. *shakes Crab fist at the Council*
I was debating about the end recovery as well. I tried to pick up as much as I could from the sets I have, so I don't know what more to do. I figured Stygian Circle and Eclipse would carry me the rest of the way (as well as getting the Atlas Medallion), but I guess not? Not many end recovery bonuses for melee sets (unless I went Purple, and I don't have the money whether I wanted to or not), and going for it anywhere else would lower my recharge bonuses. Grrr. I'll have to play with it.
Part of the challenge of Khelds, heh. I'll get there eventually. And sorry again about the Mid's thing: I made sure the linky worked at least. -
It is pretty. Makes for a good time to watch and play with. Alien, I don't know how you get by using the mouse to click your powers, though. I think I use mine some to toggle things on, but in the heat of battle I use the keys, shift + and so on. Mouse feels slower and more difficult, especially since I got a much bigger monitor and sometimes lose my cursor on it! Heh.

Quote:You do realize that there are hordes of Kheldians surrounding all the crystals in the second mission? Novas and Dwarves, etc? Some have distinctly Warshade/Nictus coloring, while others have Peacebringer coloring? I see that as a problem, since those are all Nictus. You would have to make some kind of powerful argument to say those are normal Khedians/Peacebringers.You do realize that Requiem, the Crystals, and the final AV are the ONLY Nictus in the task force. Three enemies is a far difference than "all" as you say. I only say three because I don't count all the Crystals as difference enemies.
And you do realize you could have made your point without snark, right? I know I could have, but I thought I'd pass it back to make a point. What's up with the angst from my fellow Kheld players these days? Did Arakahn step on your favorite Photon Seeker/Fluffy?
Someone else thought someone's animation idea was stupid (like they wouldn't have the option of keeping what they have now), and I've seen this rudeness in other threads, too. Relax everyone, we're in this together.
Obsidian, I know what you mean... Kheldians were on the backburner for far too long, and they didn't benefit from the same thought out process that VEATs got, either. I think we're doing better than Defenders, though... they've pretty much sat as they are for years: we at least got a beneficial working over not too long ago. -
Quote:Not sure there would have been much demand for that name, but I guess you're covered, now.Reserving the name Simian Belmont, a monkey themed whip mastermind.
Pretty much have a Dual Pistols concept blaster lined up... probably will start in Praetoria with him, depending on how things work. Resistance for him as well. -
Hey all, I'm still working on getting my triform Peacebringer to 50, but I did start up a Warshade as well. I'm using Nova as I level up, but somewhere in the 20s, I'm going to respec into a Human/Dwarf dual build (probably about level 28, so I'll be able to use Gravitic Emanation). How well has that worked for you all that have tried it?
I'm going to post my build to see what people think as well: the idea will be to play as much as I can in human, dropping into Dwarf only when things get really rough or when I feel like tanking for my team and/or pets. So I do have some status resistance throughout the build. I also figured some defense would help out my approach, and a lot of recharge. Please note, I am NOT going to use purples with my build. I do not have the money, time, or inclination to invest that much in any one hero: "regular" IOs help enough and cost enough already.
Anyway, I would realy appreciate some feedback. Not sure how much I'll want Twilight Shield and Stygian Return over something from Leadership, but we'll see how things are when I get to that point. And sorry for how horrible this looks... Mid's doesn't seem to want to look nice when I post it anymore.

Ah, but who doesn't like popsicles? Who? That's okay, then.
-
Didn't see this earlier. What do you mean, Voo? Planning on leaving the country before Q2 or 3 of next year?
MG, users of regular ammo won't necessarily get the shaft for damage... they may up the damage or do something else to compensate. I would hope they would, but no guarantees, of course. Still, Castle and co. have to know straight lethal damage will be weaker if it's the same total of a 70/30 setup.
Ugh, I almost wish I hadn't seen that video... really want to play a Dual Pistols blaster NOW. I don't care much about the whips and demon summoning, but Pistols? Heck yes. I'm glad there is another option for those that aren't looking forward to the pistols like some of us, heh. -
Ah, more info here and in dev digest, of course. I'm guessing that's how MG found out about the 70/30 damage to Dual pistols.
Some interesting stuff from that thread:
- Mercedes Lacky and Troy Hickman Architect Entertainment guest author arcs coming soon
- Someone asked Positron about MM customization; He turned to Marketing, who said 'we cannot answer'
- They have Base Raid ideas/tech, but not full, and no ETA
- No word on the new high-level content - More information on that in the months leading up to beta
- More Cimerora/Coming Storm content coming
- The next Super Booster is ninja related
- Upcoming feature: You do not have to log out to switch character
- Upcoming feature (confirmed for I17): Enemies/Objectives will be marked on the mission map when 90% of the enemies have been defeated
- Upcoming feature: Enhancement prices will be standardized across all vendors/contacts
- Upcoming feature: Electricity Control for Controllers (And possibly Dominatiors)
So, we have high level content coming, and I love the switch character feature without logging out. I knew about the marking objectives on the map, but I'm still excited for it. Guest author story arcs could be interesting, depending. I hope the Natural booster pack has more than just ninja stuff, but it sounds interesting. -
Quote:Heh, as far as I can tell, tunnel snakes were not behind the typo one. Oh well."Tunnel Snakes Rule" hit me twice in another thread for no reason too. Apparently they found out I don't like Fallout...
A bit more on the sideswitching discussion. It SOUNDS like they're trying to make it a good process to switch sides. Not too short, so it's a lame feature that means nothing, but hopefully not too long, either.
Still, most of my people are staying on one side only, even if they don't have many rewards for doing so. Most of my heroes are heroes. They're 3D and fleshed out, but most of them are not going to be gray enough to sideswitch or even be a vigilante. My stalker is more of a mercenary type, so he might be a rogue, though. We'll see what the pros and cons of it all are.
So I guess in the end, MG, even if there aren't rewards, there will be people who won't play in the gray area with their characters. I suppose you have to care about RP if there aren't going to be rewards, but it sounds like they will have that covered as well. -
Apparently there is going to be an electric control at some point as well, which is nifty. I hope they get an Elec APP for heroes at some point as well... would work nice for my Controller and a few other people.
And yay for Victory. I got negative repped for a typo earlier in the thread! My only negative rep is from fellow Victoryites, too. I love you all! -
MG, that was hilarious. Oh, and I'm still wondering how you know it's going to be 70/30 for the damage. I also wonder if the regular ammo Dual Pistols will get a slight damage buff to compensate, as in about 80% of content they will be facing resists of some sort.
Pol, I'm not saying you should walk on eggshells. Act like you usually do... just adjust if someone says don't go there. My friends and I rib each other plenty, but there are times when we can't handle it, and we back off then. That's all I was saying.
Niv, I still wish KB did some type of damage in this game. There was a game for the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox called X-men Legends, and I loved playing Colossus. You could throw out huge punches, hitting one guy in front, hitting other guys behind him, and knock them all back, doing further damage to those behind them. Awesome stuff.
KB is fun and visceral, but something like that would be really make my day. -

Yeah, using your attacks, leveraging RTTC well, and Taunting when needed is plenty fine. Used to be Tanks took the Presence Pool because taunt was ST. Now, Taunt is much, much better: use it and forget the Presence Pool.

Quote:Sheesh, you couldn't just tell me? So now even though I fixed it (got the names mixed up, heh), they all still know? There Pol goes again, getting Hor in trouble...
I think you nailed it, based on a post I saw... except lethal gets no benefit, and I'm not sure if Toxic debuffed resists or def.
Judging from what the powersets do in the game right now, I would guess regular ammo would debuff defense (Burst from AR debuffs defense, for instance, as do Council and other mobs that are using "bullets"). Toxic tends to either slow or debuff resistance (toxic from Vahz slows, toxic grenade in VEATs debuffs resistance). I would imagine toxic will do -resistance, just to keep it different from ice.
I would imagine some damage numbers might be tweaked there as well, though I'm not sure if they'd want that much work for one powerset. But of course they made it that way. Hehe. -
Viv, I have to go back to that post. you should not have to take the horse back. The woman signed off on the contract, and she's the wench for not reading it through and knowing the implications. Considering you have her signature to buy Stardust, and writing out that she would abuse the animal (a criminal offense), you have the upper hand morally and legally.
I would want to get her to a new owner as well, since the woman is obviously a wench and would mistreat Stardust (threatening to kill her shows she doesn't give a rip and knows you do), but you shouldn't have to pay to keep her in the meantime.
Good luck with it no matter what.
And seriously, Pol/Suckerpunch, if someone obviously doesn't want to be ribbed, let it go. Viv obviously jokes around most of the time, but we all have days where we can't take it so well.
Anyway, back on with my OP. Not sure what to do with the ammo for the dual pistols... we'll have to see what the secondary does. It might be as simple as fire doing more ticks of damage, ice slowing, toxic lowering resists, and lethal lowering defense, but who knows, it might be more complex. Might go with ice for the look, but we'll see.
I do like the graphics upgrades, it will make things more immersive, and kind of make things seem new again, even if you're on a map with the same layout. But it's interesting, CoH is quite pretty already. You don't notice it if you have everything turned down, but I was rather amazed when I upgraded back in January... everything looked amazing. Water already looks good to me. And I had no clue Night Widows etc. had a metallic sheen to their armor: I thought it was just matte! Crazy. -
Quote:I didn't see whatever debate you are referring to, so let me know if I make an error with responding to this (as in what the debate was about). And yes, I'm highly "vindictive." One can't tell me to "suck it up" when I make a suggestion and not expect me to call BS when I see those same people complaining about a very similar subject, just because THEY'RE the ones "inconvenienced" by it now...
At best, that's highly hypocritical.
"Alien"
It seems like someone told you to "suck it up" when dealing with mezzes in human form, when you were arguing for mez protection in human form. I'm assuming that's what happened. If so, the rest applies, if not, I'll have to rework.
Anyway, arguing for mez protection in human form is NOT the same as arguing for mez protection with Dwarf to work better. Castle made the call that providing mez protection in human form was too much, therefore it was nixed. So if someone told you to suck it up about that situation, that wasn't the greatest or nicest way to say it, but that is the way it is. You can argue that it doesn't make Dwarf form too weak, but you would have to do so in a way that overrode Castle's own estimation of the matter when he looked at it. He seems thorough and methodical with what he does, so that would be a tough thing to do. You can always try, though!(I know I'm still arguing for some Fiery Aura tweaks).
Castle's choice was to put mez protection into Dwarf form. If that's the way things are, then that decision SHOULD work through and through for Dwarf form. That is what is at issue here. Getting knocked out while formshifting makes the chosen system not work well. It already takes awhile to formshift, so having to repeatedly select dwarf form and hope you don't get mezzed while shifting is not good design (if it was intended, and again it wasn't... not sure what they're doing about it, though) or a good setup.
So no matter what past conversations have been, put this argument into the correct frame. I would also say telling people to suck it up is never a good idea or a good way to argue, no matter how right you are about everything else. Not trying to get on your case, just making an observation about common forum/internet debate issues, heh. -
I can understand arguing about whether Kheldians could look different from each other, but... they did use palettes for customization... you can't do all colors depending on the power. They could just do the same for Kheldians, even limit it more if they wanted, so it was all shades of the whitish light for PBs, and purplish for Warshades. I think just some more variants on the color would be enough for most people (but let me know if I'm wrong).
Hmmm, this makes me wonder why they allowed Kheldians with PB-like powers into the Imperious TF/SF. Supposedly, they're all nictus, so it's rather iffy that they allowed that coloring in.
Though I suppose it has more to do with the other limitation issues they have (Voids spawning with odd enemy groups, crystals spawning with ambushes, etc.). -
Yeah, I really, really want new content. I like what we have, and like the new stuff, but want more stuff to do, and ways to do it. Eye candy will make it go even further, but I really want the new content. I really assume we'll have a lot with GR... they'd be insane not to have it, and I have all confidence it'll be there.
Viv, don't reroll! Just make a new version/name: no need to redo all that work! -
Alien, I swear there are two people in your head (current avatar is quite appropos)... one nice and excited about things, the other bitter and vindictive.
BAB specifically posted on this after the Kheld changes, and said it wasn't really intended... but kind of said that there wasn't much that could be done about it or something. Sorry about being vague, but it was a long while back now.
Even without that post, you have to use common sense to see if it's WAI. Let's see, the devs provide something new for Khelds so they can get out of their mezzed state, making Dwarf form more viable. Then they purposely make it so you can get mezzed while transforming? Okay. That makes no sense, and matches up not at all with what I know of BAB and Castle from their posting.
On top of that, formshifting does take too long (people complain about 3 second animations for ATTACKS, and this is just a formshift), and takes away from what should be a strength for a Kheldian. People should argue for an improvement there: it will make the AT more viable and more liked. It's not going to make it overpowered, either, just more smooth and enjoyable.
Your arguing against it and laughing at those arguing for it undermines all people who like Khelds. No one is taking you to task for running human only in this thread (and in threads where you talk about your human only, I've only seen compliments about your build and playstyle).
So seriously, relax and help out the Kheldian community, rather than... this. -
Yeah, the dual pistols look quite sweet. Allowing different ammo and a change in secondary effects is interesting... helps out those heroes who think the bullets and fire only AR is too violent. Shooting ice is a little different, heh.
I like what looks like the Snipe power... after all the other crazy movement, you take aim a la Danny Glover or a lone gunman, and bang!
Oh, and the crowd in the movie is awesome, too: makes it even more fun to see everything. A little too chatty sometimes, but most of the time hilarious and enthusiastic. You don't get audiences like that everywhere (best movie audience I was ever with was a midnight showing of Fellowship of the Ring), so that makes the video even more fun. Oh, and I totally noticed the ambient shadow from the guy flying around before everyone else (you get a quick shot of it when he first takes off, but most people reacted minutes later when he actually highlighted it).
MG, from what I heard/understand, a rogue or vigilante will be able to go from one side to the other, wherever they feel like going: the only limitation being the markets, it looks like. I can only assume they'll be able to trade, however... otherwise teaming will be too difficult. Don't know for sure, of course. I really, really do not understand why the are keeping up the market separation: they had better not make a third market for Praetorian heroes/villains/rogues. I can't believe they would be that crazy, but I dunno... the markets are still separate.
For more hilarity, check the doom thread on this in the COH Discussion forums. Some guy is complaining since GR is only "a graphical update and 2 powersets." Not enough for him.
It's hilarious... I'm sure we know EVERYTHING about GR at this point (Posi says at 1:40 in the video that this is all they're allowed to show you right now), so this doom is just laughable. Once I know what all is in there, if there isn't much added to missions, etc., I'll complain. But for now, this is a great peak, and enough to get sane people excited. -
Quote:Well, we don't know much about it. I would be extremely surprised if we were only in new Praetorian zones for 20 levels. My guess is there will be upper level content as well, especially since any of the higher up Praetorians are only fought in the 40s during the current game setup.Right now, I think that my only potential complaint is the 1 - 20 level limit of Praetoria. That does mesh with the new player experience side of things...but we actually don't spend all that much time in the 1 - 20 level range(by the devs own design and XP changes over the years). So if it was up to maybe 35ish...it would make more sense.
There is still a lot we don't know yet though, so maybe content is being added to Blue and Red sides that fill things in. That's my hope anyway...time will tell.
I'm excited for new early level content, actually (I like the whole ride from 1-50). It makes me even more surprised that they accelerated the first 24 levels again, if they are putting all this work into revamping the experience. I was basically annoyed that they put in the acceleration, as I saw it as a cop out from reworking the content and making it good... but then they are putting in that work. Most confusing.
Only other thing I can really quibble about is the continued separation of markets... not sure how markets are going to work for those starting in Praetoria either. They couldn't be crazy enough to make a 3rd market, so I'm not sure why they want to continue the separation elsewhere.
Otherwise, this is a good preview. Posi specifically said during his keynote that this is all they could say right now, so there will be more. No clue how much more, but there should be a lot of new missions, etc. -
Ugh, Ham, it's just GG posting screenshots. I wouldn't be referencing you to GR screenshots and just have some crap posting. I don't rickroll.
The video is highly worth looking at... Posi has some opening notes about GR and what they can tell you (I take that to mean they are only showing so much at this point), then lets the art department show the rest (Ken Morrisey, I think I heard). He tours you through the opening zone of GR and shows all the cool new stuff for the graphics (dynamic shadows, reflective windows, water, AND costumes). The last eight minutes show off the new Dual pistols, which looks cool in an Equilibrium/John Woo way. They also show you how COH and COV will look with the new graphics, so that's a nice bit as well.
Tail end lets you know about release info. Looking at 1st Quarter for beta, 2nd quarter for release. We'll see if that happens, but even if it gets delayed, we should hopefully be playing GR by this time next year.
