Ummmm, good thing I called you one, then? Heh.
Obsidian, I would guess from that that it would be okay to have sideswitching. It makes sense that the epics would have to start in the COH and COV zones, since they are tied in with the story of that dimension too specifically to let it work well in the Praetorian dimension. I'm sure there could be some iteration of Khelds and such there, but not in the same sense as ours, I am sure.
But I agree, people usually do want more proof than that. -
Well, it was quite a few... more than my computer was putting on the screen at once, as I ran about Pocket D a few times and characters were appearing and disappearing. I would say 100+, but that's a pure guess.

Quote:Yeah, that's pretty different from my experience. I soloed and teamed through a lot of stuff at the early levels and it was great. You get Crane Kick early on (level 8, I think), and that's some good ST damage for those levels.I would have to agree with the above. However, I will note that, in my opinion, it is a late bloomer. It was my impression that at the beginning it was a little squishier than I expected. Bear in mind that this was my impression/perception and I have no numbers or particular expertise to back up that feeling.
Early RELATIVE squishyness aside ... I find it a very enjoyable set.

For the rest, MA is weaker for AOE, but my MA/Regen has less issues than my Kat/SR in defeating foes (even at or close to the def cap, SR still is at the mercy of the RNG for some encounters). I have pretty consistent performance from the Regen part, of course, but using MA's stuns, KD, and picking up Air Superiority really makes his mitigation and survivability consistently strong.
And then there is the sheer fun of kicking everything around. I mixed in Air Superiority and Boxing to mix things up with the kicks, but most of MA's original animations are better than the new punching ones, in my opinion.
In short, there's nothing wrong with Martial Arts. Some sets might perform better, but not THAT much better. It's a great melee set. -
I don't know of any changes to the game that would not make this a viable approach, if you want it. If you team up, you may want to let them know that you're more of a scranker, but I don't know of any Tank build that isn't pretty resilient and unable to tank for a team (especially when the team is supporting them). You're still going to want to slot up your shields as a Scranker, so it should all add up.

Quote:Easy there, cowboy. If you know of where they stated this definitively, go ahead and post it. I watched a bunch of Herocon footage and read up on what I could, but I have never heard this, myself. Hence the debate. They probably WILL allow it, but I'm never one to count my chickens before they hatch, especially with how the Epic ATs have panned out before.Haven't they already said flat out that you CAN switch sides on VEATS and HEATS? I don't know why people are still debating this. Why are you still debating it?
Unfortunately, there has been zero official posting, etc. on what was discussed on the Herocon website, and they have little to nothing on the official Going Rogue page. -
Goodness, MP... 1.5 billion? And to think, I've been on teams for TFs and Isos with you for more than four hours... and for free!
Sorry, just couldn't resist.
And all these bidders need to put together a small pool for the "Grey Pilgrim has only had one Purple drop in all his time playing" fund. Seriously.
Anyway, that's dome good fundraising... should see some nice contests going after all that! -
I think someone posted about this in the general discussion... be sure to bug it, as I think it IS a bug. I started a Wolf Spider a month or so back, and he had the spider legs or whatever on his shoulder, but I haven't played him for a couple weeks now.
-
Yeah, Fitness pool for roleplay reasons is never something I've considered, to be honest.
My PB Triform at 41 doesn't have Stamina just yet. I'm eventually going to fit it in, just to help a bit, but I have enough -end in my powers and +recovery to get most of the job done, and popping Conserve Powers usually does the rest for me (whenever I notice my blue bar getting low it's because Conserve Power has been up for a bit and I've been forgetting to use it). Probably becomes more necessary in a non-IO build, but not necessarily, since I have a lot more recharge from my IOs than I would have otherwise. -
Chriffer, there was less notice than usual for a PERC event, but checking once a week to see if something is going to happen may mean you'll miss some things. Not everything is planned out that far ahead, or announced. Heck, it's sometimes to announce an event to far ahead of time for in game things... it's not like a football game or something like that.
Egads, those prizes were huge... I hope I didn't miss out on my number being called after I logged off.
I also think it's quite awesome that three of the mods are willing to put in time like this. That's very much a cool thing to do, so thanks (even if I don't have the in-game cash to afford it)! And it was fun to see the turn out, even if there are some really weird people out there on Victory. -
Wow, that was nuts! I didn't realize how much cash people had out there... it was getting tossed around like it was small potatoes. I mean seriously, 300 mill+ for a MSTF run?
I guess I don't have to feel bad about not being on late enough to bid on on of the mods... I highly doubt I would have had the cash to be able to do it, and no one seemed to want to pool cash on the idea, either.
Everyone seemed to be having fun, though. Thanks for putting this together, MP: I hope you're still feeling sane after all that insanity! And thanks for the bid, Tal, I shall do my best to help you out with TFs or whatever in the future. -
Hasten was never needed in the game, in all honesty. Looking at things mathematically, sure, it gave you a recharge edge and has a benefit. But it's never been needed... you could do perfectly ridiculous things in-game without it.
And really, it used to be more needed than it is now. It's pretty easy to rack up a lot of recharge bonuses that are hefty on their own, and you can usually stack those with a good amount of recharge in your powers, which was less possible with just SOs and Hami-Os.
Again, it does provide a benefit (as long as you can take the end cost), but it's one that is not really needed that much. There's nothing wrong with having it on your build or using it (my Khelds use it, for instance, because having a lot of recharge helps Khelds out so much more than most other ATs), of course, but I do balk at people suggesting that you must have it... especially after IOs were introduced. -
Anyone going to be around next Wednesday? Since a bunch of people are going to be gone, I thought I'd do something to get some merits to the Golden Howler. I'd be up for a Citadel, Manticore, or even an ITF if people wanted. Or I suppose we could run regular content, but I'd make sure not to go over the level range of course (I do love the options we have with that now).
-
Uncannily, this event is actually running when I usually play, so it shouldn't be hard for me to show up, unless something crazy happens in real life.
So, we're supposed to say something about ourselves. I somehow missed that. Hmmmmm.
I'm most able to do things heroside, as that is where I play most of the time. I have a few Tankers, two Scrappers, and a Blaster at 50. I also have a Controller at 48 (Earth/Storm), if that is more needed than tanking or damage. I also have a bunch of lowbies... I also like pretty much all the blueside content, so I'd probably be up for most things. I also like writing and the Mission Architect (I am a creative writer and I teach writing), so I would be more than willing to help out there.
I am more limited redside... I have a Stalker at 41 (a very team friendly stalker, however... Nin/Nin has a lot of tricks that help teams, and he's very resilient and able to scrap), and a Huntsman at level 12, but that's it. I'd still be willing to run whatever those characters could reach redside, however.
Oh, and if there's anyone that really wants to team up with one of the mods, I'd be willing to chip in... it's always fun to hang out with people that are more "in" on things, just to get their perspective. They also seem like they'd be fun to hang out with.
*added*
I should roll my Shields/Super Strength Tanker with Avatea and show her how it's done. He only has issues with Devouring Earth and Vengeance-stacked Nemesis (and we're talking 2-3 mobs worth)... and even then One With the Shield can usually save his bacon. Of course, I do have him IO'd out. Maybe that might be it?
It's a really fun power combo, and a good way to roll for a Tanker if you want to be a bit more scrappy. BAB did some great animation adjustments to go with the Shields that you can enjoy, too. -
Ah, no wonder the Victory Forum is quiet. You're all talking elsewhere!
-
That's... awesome. The Ocho wins for that comment. I'll have to run with my Stalker when I play with Ham more as well!

Quote:New Super Mario Bros. is reportedly hard but fun, and can be insane if playing with four players. We'll be picking it up at some point, I'm sure. Super Mario Galaxy was a great game, but I was a little disappointed in how limited the second player mode was.StarCraft 2 is the only thing I've got my eyes currently set on. I loved the first one so much and the teaser vids I've seen are impressive. The boy wants to pick up a copy of the new Super Mario Brothers Wii. It looks fun too so we probably will when we can find a copy.
-
Nyah! That might be more than four hours, and MP said we didn't have to do them all in succession!
-
Quote:Hmmmm, I'm forgetting, what kind of buff do Khelds get via Cosmic Balance if a VEAT is on the team? Between Cosmic Balance and all the leadership skills VEATs have... that's a scary combination, potentially. Are we scared of the shiny purple crystal thingies and their multitude of little fluffy babies?
Well now I'm definitely going to do it!
Weirdly Khelds actually work better IMO on Villain teams where the roles are a bit blurrier anyway. Some of the best fun I had on mine was a RWZ team made up of a pair of Brutes, another Warshade, a MM and a couple of Arachnos Soldiers. Mayhem!
Actually I see most people will probably go Vigilante / Rogue rather than out and out switching. Why limit yourself to just one side? -
I was on team quiet/afk last night. I think we had one person go AFK for a good chunk of time in each mission!
Still had fun. DC loves his Nemesis, so I got good mileage out of using Liquefy on those Vengeance-stacked mobs. Sure made things a lot easier when their defense and to-hit buffs went bye-bye while they were in that patch.
And Ninja Run looks quite cool... I really do want that booster just for that. It'd look odd with some characters, but with some, it'll be awesome. -
Yeah, sounds like a good idea. I'll check in maybe once I fix it up more to see what you think.
-
Quote:Well, I think the name on them is misleading. They say long or medium (I can't recall), but they're quite short for the category they're in. The category below them has maps that are just as long, I believe. I suppose I should just adjust it down for the people that can't look beyond the type name (not implying this is you, I just know how people read descriptions usually). I think I also chose them because their shape was better for what I wanted (front to back progression)Try using smaller maps first. It's a valid concept to have separate missions but you might want to use maps with shorter lengths.
Quote:The startup ambush is a novel idea and you do give warning. However, some people WILL dislike it. Unless you get a cascading shower of low ratings, I'd say keep it. However, you might want to give an in-character warning in your intro text for the mission.
Quote:Glad to help. The only thing is that I'm not sure your story properly qualifies for Aeon's challenge since the player does the right thing without controversy. If Diomedes was killed for the sake of protecting the innocent, then it seems like it would fit the theme of the challenge better.
It's hard to know what level of obvious is too obvious, and how subtle is too subtle with MA sometimes.
I think if I can do that, it is an interesting case of taking justice too far. Especially if I can get the player involved more with it. It's hard to do, of course, since our missions are on rails, but there's no getting around that right now. -
Quote:Well, I wouldn't use that as your reasoning too much. I think they show up more from game limitations, rather than dev design (pure conjecture on my part, but it seems to follow from lore describing Khelds). Same thing with Voids hanging out with Devouring Earth, crystals spawning all over and in ambushes, etc.As for Peacebringers not being able to 'Go Rogue' because they're so goody-goody, or entrenched with the PPD - I've fought plenty of Bright Novas and White Dwarfs as Baddies in missions, so to hades with that notion...
If they don't allow it, they'll have to come up with a different 'wallbanger' reason than that.
They may let it slide, of course, but I do hope they fix that sticky wicket. At the very least, Peacebringers that side switch had better at least get a color change to their powers. I know Kheldians are a "smaller" portion of the content, but I do hate how incompletely they're implemented at times.
I know you're all into the roleplay of your particular character, but any Peacebringer or Warshade sideswitching makes me rather sad. Especially the Warshades.Forgive me for getting too involved with the game, heh.

When do you all play on Mondays? I'm usually on from 7-9 PM Central, but that's about it. I wouldn't be able to join in every Tuesday, either, as I have limited nights to play, so I like to check in with my alts.
Still debating it a bit, as I don't want to make my mine Kheldians get played less on my main server, but I figured I would ask. Wouldn't be able to play on Mondays next semester at all, too (Tuesdays and Thursdays may be it for me).
