Archery does get pretty close with Snap Shot, Aimed Shot, and Fistful of Arrows (Fistful is technically a cone, but it recharges fast and isn't so end heavy that it's pointless to use even on a single target). There will be a little lag after Snap-Aimed-Fistful-Snapped, but not too long of one, as Snap recharges in two seconds, and Aimed in six. That's one of the fun things about that set, it's quick and snappy.
Peacebringers can do the same thing, though I'd probably respec out of one of those first three attacks after awhile... you have plenty of more needed ones that can make for a full chain later, heh. -
Quote:Hmmmmm, I thought I responded to this earlier... but no post from me. Anyway, when this happens, I still show a foe as targeted: I think I mentioned earlier that I really do spam Burst and Slug to try and get something to fire, but no go (so even if I lost targeting, hitting the attack key repeatedly should select a new target).I've noticed that a hold will often cause me to lose my currently selected target. May want to verify you still have an enemy targeted when hitting attack buttons.
I may try switching targets the next time it happens to see if it's an odd bug that isn't visible: i.e., that target is "targeted," but the game/server isn't really showing me as targeting. -
No worries, Ham. I think we had 12 people playing over the course of the night, so it wasn't technically cheating.
Anyway, I'm sure me and DC had xp turned off last night (well, most of it for me... I thought the level range was 37 since I got done earlyish last week and I was 2 bars short... the levels in the SG window seemed to indicate that's where we should be), since we both mentioned it. Not sure how well others did.
It was crazy, though... we suddenly had enough to start two Citadel runs (almost, picked up a few to pad us out to eight on both teams), and then a couple people showed up during the run. Crazy... thought it was going to be quiet, but we turned out pretty busy.
DC's team whomped my team's Citadel time by about 20-25 minutes. Since Voo wasn't there, I blame Enigma Black... it had nothing to do with one of our Scrappers lagging, dropping, and not contributing 100% all of the time at all. At all, I say! *shakes fist* Or DC's team having five Scrappers and a Blaster... yeah.
Anyway, it was a fun night. The Citadel run was nice and smooth, and running through more story arc missions (as usual) with DC was cool too before I left. I would have liked to stay for another mission or two, but I was dragging last night. It's been a long semester. -
Have fun and good luck. I'm sure you'll find some people that aren't in a tryptophan-induced stupor. I may try playing some Mario Kart Wii tonight and find out if I can stay on the track...

Quote:So... you want them to start giving powers out for real world money? Make it a REAL have and have not situation?Considering ANYONE can purshase the ninja pack, no it doesn't
Heck... no. I'm fine with there being these fun little extras to these packs, but if they overomce regular things that come with the game... that's just bad. My biggest beef with the body slider change being packaged in with the Science Booster is that that should have been part of the game, not part of a booster. And that's not even close to what it would be if Ninja Run was somehow better than the other Travel powers in game.
There are a lot of other options for travel in the game already, so having something fun like Ninja Run is a nice bonus that isn't an issue in that regard. -
Well, when it happens... it's quite long. More than 1.5 seconds, for instance, as a few of my powers recharged while this happened (and they take longer than 1.5 seconds to recharge).
Visually, it doesn't act like when the server or my connection gets laggy and jumps, either. Everything is perfectly smooth, I just won't fire while Held. -
Yup, it's been running CoX great for me ever since we installed it a few weeks ago. You'll want to look at your system specs and make sure it's right for you, of course, but the two work together just fine.

Quote:Ah, the dangers of perception. I suppose for those people that don't think the Regeneration does much, they should take a run with an Invuln or even SR Scrapper. My Regen Scrapper pretty much only has to use his heals for tougher boss fights (as someone else mentioned earlier), because his Regen covers pretty much all the more "minor" damage coming in.Heals are always perceptually more important for Regeneration because regeneration is always on. As a result, you're only ever seeing heals stacked onto regeneration. Its extremely rare that people see heals without the regeneration and then the regeneration without the heals for extended periods of time to allow for comparison. It would take careful deliberate testing to tease the two effects apart.
This is very much identical to the old saying that you always find things in the last place you looked. That's always true, because once you find it you stop looking. Heals are always the final determining factor for survival, because they are the last - and only - option when regeneration is always on. Either a heal saves you, or failing to use a heal kills you, or you were doomed either way. You can never see a case where regen saves you after a heal fails to do so, because most people don't define failure in terms that allow for that possibility.
Of course, this damage doesn't seem so minor if you don't have as much Regen to cover it... -

I'm soloing through the Indigo story arc on my AR/EM Blaster, and I'm running into some odd situations where Defiance does not seem to be working.
I'll be blasting away at a Gunslinger and get held... and suddenly neither Burst nor Slug will fire. I sit there and spam the keys, but nothing happens. I don't think this is just server hiccup, either, as it's happened more than once, and nothing else in the game is jumping, etc.
I'm also fairly sure it's not a range issue, either (I know and love how most of the mobs +40 have superior range to Blasters...). I do not get the "Out of Range" warning when hitting Burst and Slug, and before I was held, I was hitting the Gunslinger just fine- similarly, I will hit him just fine after I hit a Breakfree.
It doesn't happen that much, as I have a pretty good mitigation build going... lots of ranged defense (feels like less against Malta, though), KB, and I do my best to hold and disorient lieutenants I'm fighting. I also know what a breakfree is for (though I'd rather not use one if I can avoid it). All the same, it has happened on a few different occasions.
It also seems to be when my Blaster is held. I haven't noticed any issues when he is put to sleep. I realize that this might be something weird and random I'm encountering on my own, and not a consistent thing, but I wanted to see if anyone had encountered something similar. -
Yeah, just fit in the extra goodies when you can... I can't recall when I picked up Cal Trops, but I don't think it was until the late 20s or maybe even 30 or 35. It's just a nice power to have if you can tell things are going south... gives you a bit longer to scrap it out and not test your defenses for too long (or let's your heal recharge a bit).

Updated the list... almost full if everyone shows up.

Yeah, while you can form your own teams from broadcasts and searching, the best way to find teams forming are to use server channels (Voo mentioned the two most active on Victory). It's pretty much the same way on every server, from what I've heard.
We see threads like this pop up from time to time. The issue is never that there aren't people on (unless you like playing in the middle of the night for the U.S., and on a weekday), but that people just don't know where to look. The channels will get you there.
The other good idea is to form teams of your own: when you start searching and inviting and broadcasting, it's amazing how many people are really out there. -
Part of me wants to agree with the new crop of posts that says "people should just not invite the lowbies, why lock the zone down?" Because it's right, people shouldn't be doing that.
However, people shouldn't be hanging around dead in a raid, waiting for a rez, either (and some people do it, even if the leader and everyone else is doing a good job of saying "go to the dang hospital, please"). People shouldn't have abused the MA so badly, either (and don't let's bring up the debate again, just follow with me).
To quote Tommy Lee Jones in Men in Black "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it." For some things, you can allow players to choose (like with their builds, etc.), with other things, you set sensible guidelines. SSK works for other zones, as higher level teams could get missions there. The same doesn't apply for RWZ. So you're not really hurting anything by locking it to 35+ again.
People are going to invite lowbies to raids, either on purpose, or by accident. And there are no reasons for a lowbie to be in RWZ, other than cross-faction MA stuff. Move the MA out to Pocket D, remove human error and tendency to stupidity and jerkness. Simple. -
Quote:Yup... Dragon Age is a long game to play through, and very replayable, so a lot of people are going to latch onto it. It should appeal to the likings of many CoH and other MMO players, actually. And that's just one game. And everyone in my SG seems to have caught the Dragon Age/Call of Duty bug thats going around.
Still... no issues getting teams on Virtue but its high pop server to begin with.
We'll probably see another uptick with our new Holiday event, and whenever the next update comes. People always want to see the new shinies, wherever they may be. -
Quote:Logic issues. Population collapse? What collapse? You need to prove that before throwing it out like it's a given, which it isn't. It's a little slower now than in August, but nothing major. Is the recent population collapse only because you can no longer PL, or are there other subtler contributing factors. I know PLing was big, but was it really half the population???
And negatory on the half of population thing. Please. -
If you're comparing sets, also be careful to not compare a WP tank to a Regen Scrapper, for instance. The numbers are going to be significantly different there.
My MA/Regen is a LOT of fun, and very active to play. I also don't have to redraw whenever I heal (I always wonder about the Katana and BS Scrappers that are Regen... it would drive me nuts, personally). He does very well on teams (though you do have to be careful of alphas, Dull Pain and MoG help a lot there), and extremely well solo. I've been working him solo through the Praetorian arcs, and he hasn't met one of those EBs that really challenged him (I did use a pet temp power to help with Marauder, but that was more from being impatient... he kept using his tier 9, dragging out the inevitable end of the fight). I don't know how he'd do solo against AVs, but that's not really my metric for playing. I'd find it right boring, too.
Anyway, I grabbed Tough and Weave on him, and got my defenses to about the 20% mark (25% for melee, or so), as well as getting a good amount of +health, +regen, and +recharge from IOs. This has worked pretty well for me. Before IOs, he was quite solid as well... I only had issues with spike damage in Croatoa (darn Tuatha), but that was solved by grabbing Tough. No problems since then. -
Quote:Bummer, hope it gets fixed soon.I doubt anybody cares, but some idiot with a pneumatic drill decided to put it through my cable connection, and the cable company are being useless about repairing it, so I've been off the net for 3 weeks. Hope to be back on Friday, but not holding my breath ...
You and Dragon Age just need to go ahead and get married, Ham, it's pretty seriou.
It's kind of funny to see this... when I get busy, I generally play my other games less, but CoX playtime stays about the same. But hey, you don't want to get burnt out on the game. I know I was before my long hiatus. -
Quote:Random nitpick even though this has been discussed to death. This is a busy time of year for students and family time, so I really would expect things to be a bit slower. Considering my classes were half full today, many people are traveling to grandma's house and aren't itching to find wi-fi to play a bit of CoX. Most people aren't going to pull a Zaboo and find wi-fi at a close relatives funeral, for instance.6PM on a night before many are off for 5 days. And Pinn's got less than 150 players not hidden.
Sorry, just had to point that out. I would agree that CoH is a little slower in the past month or so (compared to this summer, which was very busy... we had doom threads like this then, too... which goes to show why people hate doom threads), but nothing too bad. I find and form teams quite quickly, and see people doing so at many hours of the day. I play on Victory, which isn't one of the high pop servers, too. -
Keep in mind that you probably don't have to get to the def cap for anything (if you want to focus on other bonuses, can't afford it, etc.). I'm still working on my Nin/Nin build, and he's at 34%/38%/41% to melee/AOE/ranged. He really doesn't have any issues, even when he's not at the def cap. If the carp hits the fan, you can easily use caltrops or some of your other tricks to pull you through it, as well as your heal. And Divine Avalanche makes it so you don't have to get your melee defense up all the way to 45%, too.

Quote:I was going to say Nazis! (50 influence to the person who knows that reference) And Council and Cysts belong together Vanum, no worries there. Heh, I had one spawn in on an ambush on a Moonfire a few weeks ago... odd, that.I'll be around. Cit's fine with me, always enjoy smashing nazi's.
Okay, so it's looking like we have a few for this... going with Citadel, since no one other than DC shouted out about it. How about we might up by Citadel at the usual Isos starting time tomorrow (8 PM Eastern/7 PM Central). I'm assuming Horatus and Chumly are still in, but let me know if you're not going to be around instead. Anyone else going to be around?
1. Grey Pilgrim
2. Vanum
3. Death Conqueror
4. Bonebaby
5. Toril
6. Chumly (?)
7. Horatus (?)
8. EB (?) -
Okay, for those of you that will be around on Wednesday, what TF sounds better? I'd like to get done in 2 hours or a little over, if at all possible. A Citadel can get done in that... could also do a Moonfire. Let me know what sounds good to you.
Sounds like we have three of us for sure, but anyone else can shout out... I will give the Isos people priority and only recruit elsewhere if needed. -
I would agree with this... also, regular missions do not end up in the RWZ (an argument you could make for keeping Crey's Folly open, for instance), so there is no real good reason for lowbies to get in the zone. And yes, having the AE building in Pocket D does make a lot more sense: they dropped the AE building from Croatoa, so I wish they had done the same with RWZ, to be honest.
Anyway, Mothership raids are much harder with a lot of SK'd people, and that was my experience BEFORE SSK. It's much, much worse with people lower than that.
Sure, people shouldn't even invite these lowbies, but raids can be pretty chaotic, so it's understandable. This setup only encourages the lazy behavior that comes on raids, anyway... so many people do not run to the hospital, grrr. -
They did fix the Chain Induction Proc thing... at least, the patch notes said they did, and I didn't see any posting suggesting it wasn't really fixed.

Quote:Eh, Invuln isn't necessarily an end hog, and Super Strength isn't too bad as long as you build right for the Rage crashes and end use. It's especially easy with an IO build... between end reducs in your powers, picking up the Atlas Medallion, and getting +end and +recovery bonuses, endurance isn't too much an issue for any of my Tankers: even the non Fiery Aura and Ice ones.As mentioned, Scranking is still viable. Very viable. But I'm going to say Inv/SS is a little harder to work with than some other combos. It's not matching damage numbers, IMO, so much as endurance efficiency that would make a Tank more Scrapper-like. SS, helps for damage, but end crashes are going to slow you down since Inv has nothing to offer for end recovery. WP (also a low-fx set) might be a better primary to help you keep going. Ice can be less of a visual set if you use darker colors for the armor.
