Great work there, man, especially for being your first digital piece... it's a lot different from traditional medium's I'm finding
That dogboy's got some great musculature and all, but, ya, I would agree with the others that a touch more of the front of his snout should be shown.
As for issues concerning his dome... it could be right or it could be wrong... it's really hard to say since I've never seen a dog man in real life XD. As canines go, ya, he has way too much forehead. Most of their brain is kept back behind the eyes and, as a result, most wolf like canines tend not to have much in the way of a forehead. Of course, for human beings, it's mostly the opposite... so, um... it could be right or it could be wrong ... so I'm gonna err on the side of the artist knowing what he's doing and say you did it right and proper
One other things... the background is a touch too saturated. It really competes with the figure and makes the image a bit hard on the eyes. Maybe tone down the saturation of the background a bit?

Well, thanks all! Damn, I'm glad it turned out in the end! there was the span of a day when I felt that I had completely and totally wrecked it
Many of you had commented on the background, it's colors, as well as the misty zombies back in there. To tell you the honest truth, that was not planed at ALL. Originally, I had a much different scheme in mind, and a hell of a lot more green. However, once I had the original background down, it was way too much and only served to completely detract from the foreground. In a fit of desperation, I began heaping red and sepia onto the green and black of the background again and again. I ended up completely painting over the entire background and then tried to make it kook like something. The smoky patters started coming out so I went with them, but still felt I had just tossed a week and a half worth of work in the crapper. Then I took out the trusty colored pencils and drew the zombies in the background in... and all was good
As for the female longbow, you have SuperMaoriFulla to thank for her. Originally, I was gonna go with a man pinned down, but he suggested the female as such is much more a staple of horror... once I began toying with her, that pose came out and truly struck a cord with me. It reminds me of what one of my drawing teachers had told me... never ever fail to include the viewer in your work... I think she does a good job of that
As for what's hanging from his gun, just some medallions of some sort. I wanted to work in his sorcerus heritage a lot more then his simple look allowed, and what would be more sorcerus then to adorn ones execution weapon with the markings of ones power, transforming a simple weapon into a sacred tool for bustin' caps. The most dominant medallion is a simple inverted pentagram sigil... the standard suppa ebil simple for most any agent of the Darkest Powers of Ebil! The other is a bit harder to make out, but it is the Yellow Sign ... 'cause, after all, what agent of the Chaotic Gods from Beyond the veil wouldn't have the most sanity racking symbol of the King in Yellow himself XD
Now, as far as my arm is concerned, NO, I need both of them *cringes away* How else am I gonna hold a fist fulla pencils in one hand and draw with the other???? -
an Intuos, as a gift from the greatest, bestest person in the whole wide world, Starchasm! *hugs Starchasm 'till her head pops off and bathes all in her wonderful spiriting life that springs eternal from her new neck stump*
Either way, I played with it some last night... just mainly doodles to see what it was like. I decided that it was definitely gonna take me some getting used to. I also noticed that my hands aren't nearly as steady as I had once thought
So, today, once I had gotten some caffeine in me, instead of doodling in my sketchbook to warm up to getting some sketches done, I decided to doodle with the tablet and maybe possibly see if I could draw a decent circle with it. This is what I ended up doing.
While, granted, it's a piss poor circle, I'm still quite satisfied with the results. It took me about 3 hrs to do, but a lot of that time was just me adjusting to the tablet. I kept catching my self turning the tablet around to try to get a better angle to draw a certain curve (with disastrous results), brushing away the non-existent leavings of the eraser when I would erase something, and vigorously rubbing the tablet with a finger or two in an attempt to quickly smudge a line... old habits
Still, I would have to say, I dearly love this tablet! And it's only my first day of using it tooAnd I am no, forever, in Starchasm's debt (I think she planed it this way too... sneaky little wench!).
Oh, and yes, that is Pep Rally drawn pretty much from my own head.. and only using Atomic Knights version of pep (look here! )... so I apologize for anything I got wrong...

Um... you have an internet connection, right? Then, um, that's all you need... damn, where the hell ahev you been? It's the reason the internet exists -
That's right, I have a full complete rack here... a full rack of... um... okay, that's just not very funny is it? I really should get some sleep... but not before this is posted! And by this, I mean...
Recruitment Drive
Finally, at long bloody last, it is finished. For some odd reason, that one took me the longest out of every bloody watercolor I have done yet... not too sure why. The background did give me fits, but, I finally beat it into submission. Also, ended up using a lot more colored pencils on this one then I ever had, but I really enjoy the watercolor/colored pencil combo... there really is a lot of possibility there. And I'm not able to type any more...
Ya, well, it's done, and no I rest!
But first, up next is... um, Serrate? maybe... I can't remember. But hey, if you want to know, you can check my queue out here and it you want to get in line, well, this should explain how
Oh, and thanks all for your kind coments while I was making this one... I always apreceate the input and all that! -
Trust me... I know what NOT too look for! I've been at this for a little while now... and, oh the things I've seen... the things!

Nice work, PMD!
The new sky definitely works a helluva lot better then the old one you had. Very nice! I would agree with Mega about the moon though... it a good moon and it works, but it did strike me as being too perfect and... pasted on? I mean, it good as is, but as was suggested, some clouds over lapping would have made it even betterJust something to keep in mind next time around.
Still great work, man! -
Heh, congrats on being alive... I was beginning to wonder... expect for the occasional poison work that would show up here and there XD. And Definite congrats on possibly getting a heavy Metal gig! Damn, I've been wanting to do something for that mag since I was 16
You is very LUCKY!

I'd second the Met-Art! Great female models there... as well as Femjoy (strait up female nudes, no kinky [censored] clothing or funky "artistic" posses or what ever to get in the way of the anatomy... nice and strait forward. As far as male models, unfortunalty, I have yet to locate a consistently good source of good male nudes. As soon as I do, I'll let you know, and if you happen to find one before I do, please let me know... they is soooo hard to find!

I should be... but it just hasn't happened yet... had to work... finish projects... and, holly cow, it's almost noon! I'm gonna burn, BURN! Arg!!!!!!!

You got your self some nice pieces there!... and nice coloring job on the second! Beyond that, I really like the characters look and name... very... I don't know... words don't fail me, brain does... but nice look... for what ever reason
Oh, and I had no idea you did Scarf's avatar! Nice work on that one! Good, clean, simple, and eye catching -
Wow, glad it's pleasing all so far... even the Big Boys! yay!
Truth be told, I was so hoping I wouldn't post to this thread again, but, alas, I seem to be getting slower with timeSo, it's another update :sigh:
Rack: Color02
On this one, I managed to get the lighting a bit better for the camera shot, but it's still not like it really is... closer though.
Also, I'm having a bit of trouble with the title for this one. Originally it was [u]Target Terminated[u] in honor of Rack's reputation... however, tonight, the phrase [u]Recruitment Drive[u] popped into my head. Ideas, opinions?
And thanks all... and thank you Mr. Fulla and all others in my line for your patents... this one is taking a bit more time, but, by G0DS EIGHTH TENTACLE, I will have it done before I go to sleep tomorrow!
Edit: and thanks for the advice on a place to shop LJ... i'll have to check them out when i free up some more funds for art suplies! -
Nice work so far... and I do so LOVE anything that smacks of, hints at, or is inspired by things from the 1900-1940's eras... this is going to be quite nice when you get done.
As for the face thing, ya, it looks to me like it's just an issue with her mouth. Fix her mouth and that minor detail will be corrected.
As for the background, since you didn't have one in mind when you thought of the image, then I would have to say nothing elaborate at all. Maybe once you figure out the color scheme, just some shaded color that will help accentuate the colors of Hex and help make her pop a bit... that's it.
Hell, since you were inspired by the old pin-ups, take their background's into consideration with this piece... that is to say, don't bother with much of anything. If you look back on the pin-up art, they really weren't too concerned with any kind of background... they were concerned with the hot female bod -
Heh, no worries there, sir!
And, normally, I don't put in that much work on just the paper... but since the only hotpressed I was able to find was 140lbs (and I use a LOT of water when I paint) buckling has been a major problem. That's why I used to use the multimedia illustration board before the formula was apparently changed on it... didn't have to worry about stretching it or anything, just put it down and go!
I finally found for the 140lbs paper, I had to soak it for about 3 minutes, stretch it, then put it under a pane of glass and the heavy weight of 4 renaissance artists (or more accurately, books about said artists). But, it's not buckling! yay! -
Yay! i inspiered someone! Yeha!
And, damn, son, I LOVE that skull! the line work you put into it, especialy on the teeth (they are just strait up a thing of beauty)! I can't wait to see this one finished! -
Nice work! I know vector can be damned difficult... all about simplifying and breaking the image down into it's basic shapes... then making it look good like that to boot.
You did a right nice job of it though! -
Wow, that's one sweet piece you got out of Brandon!
-
LMAO!
And... Scarf... you weren't the only one to try that. After I saw that one pic of Thors Assassin(ette?) I had to see if I could make her in game XD
Actually, the rout I took was just a real light skin tone then tops with skin and bottoms with skin, and make the clothing white... looks like she just has tan lines.
Thors Assassinette
And, TA, damn, you really are a good sport! And electric/electric blasters are damned fun! -
Why in the hell does your images not show up in my dev watch???
Either way, I really like where this one is going. The lighting that your using is quite nice and her arms are GREAT! How ever, I would be with the others in stating that she has a weird Michael Jackson thing going on in the face.
I studied the piece for a while to try to pinpoint exactly what's doing it and I think it's actually several things. One, the highlight on her jaw from the floor lighting is one culprit. You need to make the highlight around her chin round to show that she does have a chin. As it stands now, it looks like she just has a strong flat jaw... no chin. Also, you might want to work with the shadows around the chin to help that out.
Second thing, the lips. They are a touch too big and perhaps too well defined... as in outlined. Maybe shrinking them down a touch and softening them up will help out.
The third culprit seems to be the nose... it's still way too small. I know when you think pretty girl, you don't think nice big snauze, but she still needs something to breath out of. The nose can be much larger without being bold... its all in it's shape... just keep it roundish.
I went ahead and dug this pic up for you which may help out a lot with the face. Granted, the lighting in it isn't exactly what you have, but what do you want from me?
Hope it helps... cause once her face is fixed, you'll have one bang-up piece here... hate to see it pulled down by a few problems with the face. -
I'd definitly have to second the, "You should do it more often; that drawing rocks" 'cause, damn... that's a grat lill' sketch there!
-
First off, thank you all for the great complements on this piece so far! I worked my [BUTTOCKS -- often used in emphatic reference to a specific person] off trying to hit on something that wasn't reminiscent of AoT
I'm glad I hit it! yay!

Some hero you are, Graver! You just stand there and let the girl get eaten by zombies? You draw a picture of it while it's happening no less. Did you pour some spices on her as well for seasoning? I can't even look at you, even if you had a webcam or somethin', I wouldn't look at it.Well, at least it is a really nice picture.

Well, of course I had to use some spices to lure Rack over to the woman so I could get the image right... spices and Rack just go hand in hand after all
Either way, I was really hopping to have Rack finished by tonight, but that just hasn't happened. It took me a bit longer to get the paper stretched for it (I went through three sheets getting the stretching technique for this paper down... and lost two days doing that... and then I have come to find that, though Rack's outfit looks simple... for some reason, painting it is still not a simple task, damn it!
Either way, I'm gonna do everything in my power to have it finished before I go to sleep Sunday night... but, knowing how things tend to go, I may not have this one wrapped up until Monday night. I'm still sure as hell gonna give it my all tomorrow though.
Well, here's the progress thus far. I was a bit at odds with showing it at this stage as the only way I could get an image of it was the ol' digital camera (since it has to remain strapped to the board until the painting is done)... so it's not exactly indicative of what it really looks like. I tried to get it close, but, something this small... detail is just lost, crispness as well, and then it came out a bit too dark, etc. But, still, it should give y'all a rough idea as to how it's looking
I just didn't want you to think I had vanished and forgot about this piece
Target Terminated: Color01 -
Damn, TA, I'd hope you don't spend irl money on inf... there's art out there man! ART! besides, inf is pretty easy to come by... still, damn, sorry you got the short end LJ. I know it's not the inf, but the principal...
I only wish that you should meet them in a PVP zone and make them your [chained whipped female dog]. -
Well... www.photobucket.com is my default host... as for getting the shot... just push the "print screen" button and, blam-o, a screen shot of the screen at the exact moment you pushed that button will appear in your coh/screen shots folder. Or if you want a good screeny of your costume, got to Icon... once in the costume editor window, push that magic button then open some kind of image editing program... MS paint will work, and tell it to past as a new image... save it as a jpg, and upload it to the host of your choice
While the bulk of this forum is mostly concerned with art and the creation there of (or at least the parts I read) I think there might be a costuming thread floating around here somewhere by Ianthem1...

Alright, as most of you might have figured out after checking out my queue, currently on the chopping block is that most horrendous of undead, magic slingin', gun toatin', special forces hit man for hire, Rack the Deathless.
Well, after fiddling around with some posses and what not, and driving my self absolutely insane with matters of a foreshortening nature, this is what I have so far for good ol' Rack.
Target Terminated: pencils 01
There's gonna be a lot more zombies and what not in the final piece, but the remaining members of the horde are going to be less defines and more... eerily shrouded then the two nice fellas helpin' the nice lady out there. They will be a bit hazy in spots themselves (you guys gotta know my love of smoke, mist, fog, and other such things by now)... and on top of that, Rack has a very mist like smoky aura, so, you can imagine where things will be going.
With all due luck, I should be posting the first chunk of painting by tomorrow morning... unless there's more tweaking that I must do that is...
