Nobody (well, almost nobody) wanted or needed MA to be "the be-all" especially in AoE, but its certainly not "weaksauce" either. In fact, I'm always suspicious of anyone that doesn't seem to acknowledge there exists anything between weaksauce and be-all.
I actually strongly recommended that a particular change in beta that would have made it even stronger in top-end ST damage than it is now be backed off a little because I was worried it would have made MA overpowered and a target for a post-live nerf. Just because I worked for MA buffs for over four years, doesn't mean I wanted it to be stupidly overbuffed.
I suppose you could say it's unfair to compare Scrappers to Brutes, but given we all have a choice of either AT, it's something to consider. (I would concede that DT is probably better AOE than Shadow Maul). That's all I'm trying to say. I would have hoped they would buff it a bit more.

I think I need to get San's build to accept Rain of Fire, since there is the APP immobilize now. I know the purple confuse set has great bonuses ... I have it currently slotted, actually. But ROF + immob sounds too good ...

Thanks guys. Goal is really to make my Fire/MM more solo friendly. right now he's totally purpled up and slotted for max recharge, but I find he can't handle solo mish very well at big mob #s ... too many mezzes and incoming damage ...
I was hoping by capping him to S/L I could make him more solo friendly. -
It's still pretty weaksauce for Scrappers, honestly. It lacks the single-target dps of DM, and the crit chance, while nice for the AOE, doesn't make it the be-all. Could use some more oomph (make Storm Kick a cone like Crow Control?) including another AOE and a better DPS chain. None of the top pylon-killing builds are MA. MA/Shields got hit pretty hard by the Shield Charge nerf.

So on my 50 tank (SD/Fire), it sounds like farming -1/+8 with bosses would be most efficient for drops.

Your build doesn't look soft-capped outside of powerboost?
I'm impressed though that you can slot 4 PVP IO's into Scorp Shield (the Shield Wall set ... those would likely bankrupt me).

I think a while back someone here did some studies to try to quantify if recipe / salvage drops were meaningfully better the higher you raised difficulty rates on missions?
I am going to run some +8 mob mish on my Shield/Fire tanker and I'm wondering how much better drops would be at +1 lvl or +2 lvl vs. +0.
Can someone remind me of the findings?

Most builds, mine included, take Bash instead because it's the quickest attack WM has to offer and is necessary to keep that continuous attack chain.
Also and maybe more importantly, Bash has a slightly higher DPS than Pulverize unless the build (like Granite's) has a great amount of +Recharge.
So for leveling you probably want Bash>Pulverize
At 50, my goal was being able to chain AOEs: Crowd Control, Whirling Mace, Shatter. With +2/+8 mobs around me, Shatter consistently hits 3+ if you target it right. I can run that chain pretty consistently with my recharge, tossing in Pulverize (which stuns I think) and Clobber as needed on harder targets. -
Thanks. I think conceptually on 0/+8 i'm thinking enough mobs will run up to me that soft-capping melee would be a good idea. Also not sure pets really can survive that kind of onslaught.
I wanted to run the Venom + Arctic + Bile + Supression chain (cones of death). Yeh, i could easily build that w/ just soft-capped Ranged, but hoping to see if there's a non-gimp way to do with melee & Aoe. -
I like the idea of slotting Fire Blast instead of Scorch but I'm trying to soft-cap w/o having to take Weave, and the Makos help (in Scorch).

If it were me I'd save the +3 to all positions PVP IO for a toon that can benefit from all positions. Move that slot to Web Envelope and 6-slot Trap of The Hunter for +3 ranged def. Keeps you softcapped at range but saves the PVP IO for a diff toon.

Been messing around with MIDS based on some builds here. Trying to get a soft-capped (all positionals) Crab that can run the Venom - Arctic - Bile - Supression cone-of-death chain.
Not wedded to pets or Omega. This is what I've come up with, but it feels a bit gimp. Any suggestions?

I think this is the last build on my Huntsman. I had built for Ranged Def soft-cap, and then I tried to bring up the AOE Def as well. He should be softcapped to range w/o cloaking device, and then when it's on (even supressed) he's over.
I put procs and -Res in the core attacks, and -Res in Surveil. Pets use the 4 older purples because they give highest dmg and highest rechage compared to the newer sets. Pet buffs in there too.

They could be a travel power and its prereq, or with some shifting around they could be CJ, SJ, and Build Up.
It's just to show how easily a Bane can get nuts-o defense. This would give you soft capped S/L and Ranged, even when CD is surpressed. Melee and AoE aren't far behind.
Most of these sets are really cheap, too. Positron's is probably the most expensive right now, but it's not adding any defense. It's just an awesome targeted AoE set that's a little low on recharge so it's nice to have a few.
