Can someone elaborate on the "Statesman Farm"? Is that the last arc mish where you kill tyrant and statesman runs around hitting mobs?
People are saying you just free stateman and he runs through killing everything as you lead him from mob to mob?
Or why is this seen as the best of all farms by some peeps? -
There is so much wrong here I don't know where to begin. I posted what I thought was a solid build in your other thread -- or the other recent BANE thread, anyway -- and the only criticism leveled against it was that it didn't have TOUGH for fighting def-debuffers. *shrug*
Here, your build loads with Demonic Aura toggled on. With that off, your DEF and RES numbers are horrible (except S/L RES due to Tough) and your slotting is bad. Seriously 3 Recharge IOs in a pet? not even trying for a set bonus? Teleport Foe?
Anyway, since I can't tell if you're really looking for help or trolling, I'm going to point you back towards the other recent BANE threads. -
Here's the 2nd build as a Bane I'm considering for my current crab.
Soft-capped to M/R/A with Cloaking up. Has Aid Self to help with survivability. Double-armors to help with mezzes.
Abandoned Poison Ray because of the heinous animation time + redraw that makes the whole Venom+PR combo feel like it takes FOREVER.
My biggest concerns here are the lack of AOE in the build but I guess that's what the Crab build (my current build) is for. I wish Shatter had a cone like on War Mace.
I also wish I could get the pet recharge down more.

The only place I see Invuln edging out SD for unkillability is if they continue to nerf defense through +ToHit or massive def-debuffng enemies like Romans. How much you want to "future proof" is up to you.
-
-
Probably Shield for max damage + some unkillability.
Probably a tricked-out Invuln (like Bass's DM/Invuln or even my FM/Inv) for max unkillability (assuming you take Aid Self), since it layers Def (with debuff res) and Heal/Regen and RES.
I don't know quite enough about DA but I think it can suffer from -DEF on ITFs and other heavy def-debuff missions. -
I think the issue is that it's really tough for the casual player to stay up to speed on all the incarnate content.
I'm not even casual and I'm struggling to bring say 5-6 alts through just the T3-T4 alpha slots, with the time I have -- which is basically maybe 1 hour every night and then if I devote 5-6 hours Sat/Sun to things.
I think your point about only picking 1-2 toons to take up the Incarnate content is probably right, as it appears to take a lot of time! -
Unless something is different for War Mace using Mace Mastery, think it does affect DPS.
Here is Werner (Scrapper god) in a recent scrapper thread on broadsword.

Incorrect.
That's how it used to be YEARS ago, and yes, the redraw myth was debunked years ago. Then, also years ago, the devs buffed the weapon sets by removing the redraw animation time from the attacks. That was much better aesthetically, with the attacks flowing into each other without standing there for the redraw pause without redraw animation. And of course it buffed DPS significantly. It also means that NOW, in the modern game, there IS a redraw penalty. Your impression is correct. Redraw is slowing down your attack rate.

I don't disagree. It just somehow feels like Lethal is resisted more. I know that's probably not true but it's how it feels.
Here's my 50 scrap using Golden Dragonfly (slotted with 5 Armageddon's except Damage IO) vs. Council, compared to my WM Brute (Shatter slotted with Oblits and Clobber with Mako's).
-----------
Your powerful Golden Dragonfly hits Equinox Parasite for 183.04 points of lethal damage and reduces their defense!
You Clobber Equinox Parasite with your Mace for 297.49 points of smashing damage.
You Shatter Equinox Parasite with your Mace for 235.16 points of smashing damage!
---------
Your powerful Golden Dragonfly hits Equinox Adjutant for 183.04 points of lethal damage and reduces their defense!
You Clobber Equinox Adjutant with your Mace for 295.65 points of smashing damage.
You Shatter Equinox Adjutant with your Mace for 232.75 points of smashing damage!
---------
Your powerful Golden Dragonfly hits Vortex Cor Leonis Grenade for 135.16 points of lethal damage and reduces their defense!
You Clobber Vortex Cor Leonis Grenade with your Mace for 297.75 points of smashing damage.
You Shatter Vortex Cor Leonis Grenade with your Mace for 234.63 points of smashing damage!
---------
So for some reason, smashing and other dmg feels stronger. I ran some other toons as well but they were all level-shifted, whereas my WM and Kat toons are not.
This is on +3/+8. Brute had around 75%-85% Fury from being surrounded by 8 mobs. -
I did some board research the other day on this topic and threads seemed to suggest that the proc with most bang-for-your-buck is Impeded Swiftness Chance of Smashing, as it could proc in all 3 "options" with creepers, the initial summon, the patch, and then each vine's attack.
I slotted my Creepers with 2 Acc/Dmg Hami-Os, 2 recharge IOs, and the impeded swiftness proc. Seems to work well. -
I love the look of the BS/SD toons and the concepts.
But the resisted lethal damage makes me sad? I ran my Kat/WP on a +3/+8 Council mish last night and I was only hitting some of the mobs for maybe 180 with Golden Dragonfly outside of Build-up and crits. That's not even talking about the robots that heavily resist lethal. Urg.
If only War Mace had better models and Brutes got crits lol....... -
At 35% you can eat 1 small purple inspi and be at the soft-cap. So if you're up for eating/carrying inspis you've saved yourself having to run the toggles.
If you're like me, once I get to 35% I start thinking how to soft-cap between set bonuses (e.g., Kinetic Combat) and CJ, Hover, etc. You need to read the defense write-ups by Aracanville and others -- as do I -- but basically little increases in defense at those levels have HUGE impact on your getting hit .. like 40% to 45% means you get hit 50% less or something. So it can be worth running softcapped.
I have my Fire/MM blaster soft-capped to S/L all the time and it is great. -
Quote:Really took Weave only as a way to push Ranged Def into the #s where it will soft cap with one small purple inspi, which I find useful on TFs.i have an ice/fire/fire i recently speced into the fire epic. he works relatively similar.
i didn't take the tough/weave route, so i had room for consume (which does help a lot with my similar end problems), but even so, my consumption is very high due to RoF+fireball+fire breath+AoE control, EVEN with cardiac. i'm not quite into perma-dom yet, but i want to see where i'm at with perma dom and a miracle and numina proc before i settle into cardiac forever.
Permadom really helps with end probs as well. -
Just an aside -- I ran this build for 20 mins clearing the Cim wall and it was super easy. Seeds, creepers, the FE-boosted breath/ball/rains ... fun times.
-
Here's what I'm running atm. It's lifted from some builds back in the thread, probably San's and Tek's. I liked the AOE of fireball too much to give it up. Had to strip a bunch of toons to raise the inf to buy the Glad Armor, but worth it.
Using T2 Musculature atm -- thought about Spiritual, but figured more dmg would help pylon / single-target DPS even though I do hear the red skittles argument (can't use skittles vs. pylon tho). Need to do a saturated pylon run on him. The recharge from Spiritual really didn't seem to make that much of a difference and only sort of took Hasten to perma (down from 125 secs?).
No real end problems in standard play or v. pylons - tend to use DC as another AOE

Well it turns out I haven't actually respec'd my Fire/MM for I-19 inherent fitness. Been running him just as he was.
I'll prob slot contagious confusion into WOC. Not sure what to do with the other powerpicks that will free up. Maybe go Leadership for some places to slot LOTGs, not sure.
In any case here he is. I love the BOOM of Inferno so much it nearly makes up for all the toggles I have to turn back on afterwards

I don't have my I-19 build handy, but we had a great thread back in the fall about Fire/Mental
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...ght=fyremental
I ended up with a high-recharge, soft-capped S/L build that is pretty frakking awesome. I think soft-capping S/L has ended up being more useful due to wanting to be in the middle of mobs for Drain Psyche -> Psychic Shockwave -> Fireball or some variation thereof (took Mace AOE root to root for Rain of Fire).
Anyway, very happy with it and he can solo pylons in reasonable time. Maybe I put the build in my pylon thread I will go look. Nope it's not there -- will try to remember to upload when I get home. He did Rikti Pylon in 5min38sec, which is about 241 dps. -
Wow. Total crickets? Figured this was a topic of at least some interest lol.
-
Quote:Lol. Agressive much?So you didn't find any good templates worth following but the one you "threw" together is?
I actually hadn't seen some of the very last posts from you and firey with some builds. Your last build is pretty good, indeed. For some reason I hadn't been able to find ultrawatt's build buried in the 16+ pages. I did look. The last build I saw from you had force feebacks slotted in most attacks.
I like your approach of slotting consume with the Taunt set - hadn't thought of that. Plus the leadership pool is a nice touch.
I like the Armageddon set for its ability to achieve almost the same stats and fit in a dmg proc. If this build farms half as well as people say, you'll make back the cost of it pretty quick.
Anyway, thanks for the latest builds. I despise how people here hold onto builds sometimes like they're pure gold lmao. -
-
There didn't seem to be any one template build here worth following exactly. So I just threw this together. Basically built for +recharge, then for some +HP. Tried to put enough endo in. Didn't bother to build for +Def.
Any thoughts on this? Didn't want to go purple-crazy.

Quote:Looks right to me. Not sure why you wouldn't get the triple stack, then. Guess I'm doing something wrong in my calculation.
But, to be clear, for a brute (who doesn't get the same benefit from Musculature as a Scrap), you think FU-Focus-Slash remains the top dps chain? I am bummed I can't break 200dps (195 was my best run so far). -
Quote:Global Recharge at 192.5% (with Hasten). Is your brute running +306.25% recharge in Follow Up? That's what I was using when I said that Slash should get a triple stack.
"The Slash chain" is Follow Up -> Focus -> Slash.
The calculation here is on a hypothetical Super Reflexes DPS build that sacrifices almost everything else in the pursuit of fairly short term DPS. Real world builds with real world concerns like staying alive and not running out of endurance when fighting a pylon will probably see lower numbers.
Follow-up recharge at 123.41% (97.53% slotted, plus Spiritual Total Core alpha slot -- 45% increase to recharge, half ignoring ED)
During pylon run had extra 10% global from Time Lord
So that's 315.91% w/o Time Lord and 325.91% with, right?
As I said, it seemed to me (watching combat stats and trying to time against attack hits) that only Focus got the 3rd stack of FU during chains. Chain was fully seamless as far as I could tell and I was queuing attacks best I could.
Really curious why I'm seeing so much less DPS (195) unless it's a brute thing. Definitely had no problems with endurance during the ~10 mins of the pylon run. Or staying alive.

So I finally got around, over the weekend, to trying to respec Mr. Plantastic, my long-dormant 50 Plant/Fire/Mu dom for I-19.
This is what I settled on, and while I had perhaps 60% of these IO's it has ended up expensive. I am open to suggestions as endurance useage seems pretty high based on recent testing. Was thinking of going spiritual for more heals and rechage but now may alpha slot Cardiac to deal with the endo issues.
Keys:
1) Permadom @ 77.5% recharge pre Hasten (Hasten has ~130 sec recharge)
2) 32.9% ranged def -- which should let me soft-cap ranged with 1 small purple inspi (similar for E/N, though slightly lower at 29%)
3) Went for Fire APP instead of Mu to maximize Embrace of Fire buffage -- for Fireball and Rain of Fire (Roots taken to hold stuff in place for Rain)
4) Creepers slotted best I could find -- 2 acc/dmg hamis, 2 recharge, and Impeded Swiftness (has most chances to proc)
5) I like Incinerate for dmg so left it in attack chain -- Blaze, blast, incin up close or Blaze, bast, ball/breath afar.
Problems:
1) Recovery & Endo use are lower than I like - bottoms our of endo pretty quick -- maybe Cardiac will solve this
