  1. I think I may have only gotten 2 as drops since they have been introduced. Congratz.

But my tanker is built like a scrapper, that has gotta count for something.
  3. Nice. Xanatos has one of these as well. Pretty sweet build if you can afford to make it happen.
  4. Hi I'm Grae. My first character and namesake is a Broad Sword/Invulnerability scrapper. He was made back in the day when /inv could herd an entire room with little fear. I admit, after the big nerf I gave up on scrappers for some time, however, I have recently picked up a DB/Regen and I am enjoying it once again. Long live Scrappers!
  5. Did they ever post any rules on sig banner sizes? This is the size I use on most other forums sites. I love the ones that are transparent like Viv's. Looks sweet.

The team was compromised of a WP/Energy tank (team leader, no taunt, no AoEs), a bunch of squishies (mostly blasters and 1 controller) and me, the lone defender (FF/Sonic). We enter a radio mission against Freakshow and the team is doing relatively well, because so far the numbers of spawn were reasonable in size.

Then we get to the one room in the lab map, the one where there's a ramp leading onto a platform which in turn has two other ramps that lead to a mezzanine that circles and is above the first platform. The tank decides to wade in and bring the entire room to the corridor.

Obviously, it wasn't a good idea since there were so many Freaks and while the tank did manage to get their attention, the Freaks started to scatter and go after the rest of the team once they were in the corridor.

Within a few seconds, a couple of the blasters dropped and the rest of the team was injured. To buy them some time, I threw up force bubble and trapped about 17 or 18 Freaks against the corner of the corridor. Mind you, this was the first time I used force bubble in the entire time we were teamed.

Apparently, this act enraged our tank.

Tank: "Force bubble herding = fail. Stop it!"
Me: "Oh you mean like tankers that can't hold aggro = fail."
Tank: "People should NEVER use knockback on teams."
Me: "They're all in one corner, it's not like they're scattered"

And that was it. I got kicked.

I realize that force bubble can be obnoxious if used badly, but I didn't leave it on the entire time, and given the situation the team was in, I thought it was entirely appropriate. The mobs weren't scattered but neatly stacked in one corner, enough for the blaster to down them with a couple of AoEs. The tank with his weak taunt aura (RttC) and his single target energy melee attacks couldn't hold aggro well enough. I generally, don't tell tanks that they have to take taunt (I have a tauntless ice/ss tanker), but his build really seemed to need it.

I know that my response was a bit on the snippy side, but I found it ironic that I was penalized for using my powers when the tanker couldn't really fulfill his role. I also got the vibe that somehow I, the lowly defender, was infringing the tank's personal territory.

Anyways, that's been the first time I've been kicked from a team in close to 3 years.
His loss Fury. Better off without him.
  7. Since we can now have banners in our signature area on these boards, I thought we needed a thread to show off some of our creations/acquisitions.

The banner I am currently using is one created by my wife Lady Grae using photoshop and an art piece I commissioned from MMOArt many years ago.

    I'm scared....

Much better than what we had before.
  9. So much for this getting purged with the old forums.
  10. I was browsing the forums of another similar MMO game to CoH and realized the best thing it did for CoH was take alot of the [censored] and whining posters.

It seems like posters on those forums are trying to validate their leaving CoH by bashing it. It is quite humorous. If you have time to throw away while the CoH forums are down I would recommend reading them some.

Cool. I am still new to the stuff so trying to figure out how to follow people.
  13. Did I really say smartbooty? Damn filters.

...I just don't see how this merited his own thread. It's a petty gripe at best. C'mon, you're on a roleplay server. People wanna feel special and grand.

Problem is, most of em suck at doin' it without riding a signature character's coat-tails.

If Statesman and Manticore knew how many illegitimate children they had, they need Chris Jenkins on speed-dial to fight child support claims.

    This is just pure win!

So Virtue... I'm really trying to understand why some people RP what they do.

At what point did it become okay to RP other people's characters?

Oho! Yes that's right everyone! Signature characters are actual player's characters! OMGOMGOMGOMG!

    I know! It's amazing!

    But!

Why do people feel it's okay to say such blatant godmodding things about these characters?

I can understand your character having to do some odd jobs for Captain Mako, or helping Synapse bust a drug ring. Cool.

    That sounds pretty reasonable.

But WHEN IN THE FIERY DEPTHS OF HELL did it become okay to say that that character is not only gay, but is having sex with YOUR character?

I've seen two different people RP this in a month. One was with Mako, one was with Synapse.

When, dear Virtue, did it become okay to play other people's characters in these ways?

What's the limit when it comes to RPing big name characters?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It has always been ok. When someone RPs they are creating their own imaginary world and able to do whatever they like in that imaginary world. If someone does not unlike they just do not have to take part in that world. It is pretty simple.
  16. I started the arc last night and will finish it tomorrow. This is from someone who usually never reads dialogue, I like the arc. It was not too lon and not too short. The custom enemies are really interested and well thought out. I should complete it this evening and get to rate it.
  17. If you PvP on a low pop server and the drops are that rare than no one will have the PvP IO on the low pop server and there will not be any balance issues. I can see the main reason people farmed them in the arena is to sell them for outrageous prices on the market.

Brutes in PvE are better than Scrappers, Just my observation after nearly 4 years of doing both mainly

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's not an observation. It's an opinion. And one I disagree with.

[/ QUOTE ]I'd say in some situations they're better... and in others they're worse. But, IMO, the difference really won't matter 99.9% of the time. And if you're trying to maximize performance to obscene levels... why the hell are you even CONSIDERING anything other than Controllers?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    lol, QFT.
  19. Rather have a Scrapper.

And never take a brute to replace a tanker when needed.
