Only if you get close in PvP.

Dont really use Psi's aoe for PvP much meself, guess some blasters may use short circuit in PvP, but not seen many use it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

depends, like always, if you are doing a 1 on 1 PvP or a group PvP

    [/ QUOTE ]

Only tend to see defenders use short circuit as blappers tend to just go for out and out kills and it slows down attack chain alot. Tends to be the case in pentads,8v8s etc. Not often you get many people hudled together for short circuit to be of much use.

Spaming Focus, Evicerate and the odd Follow Up should be more then enough I think for PvP.

If all you want to do is hunt squishies, that'll be fine. If you want to take down the hardier foes, you might have to apply a touch more thought than that.

Infact if you get Follow Up stacked its probably the best damage a Scrapper can do.... in SC at least .

    [/ QUOTE ]
Follow Up allows for great sustainable damage, but that doesn't translate too well into Zonal PvP - seeing as you need to be constantly hitting Follow Up to make it work. If your opponent is dumb enough to stand there and let you hit them, then it's great - otherwise, you're left with the lower damage of Claws being occasionally boosted by Follow Up, which is far, far from "the best damage a Scrapper can do", being eclipsed by both Spines and BS.

You can make it work though, as I do on a regular basis.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hehe, prob true but thinking along the lines of TP Foe and Web Grenade. Backed up with hasten and quickness I am hopeing the speed of attacks should make up for things a little (focus every 3seconds).

Also Evicerate is probably better then Ripper since toxic damage doesnt crit and Evis has +crit chance so it really is just a case of keeping Follow Up on, but then Build Up isnt on all the time either so I am guessing you can knock them out of hide with Follow Up then use Web Grenade, Focus, Evicerate, Follow Up, Focus, something like that....

Problem Ive found with Build Up is when to use it. If a Stalker drops down next to you you have to do an attack first and cannot start with Build Up or you run the rist of AS. Then if you use BU they will be on their way so you have to use TP too early and may well not finish them in time. Well thats what Ive found so far, hate letting stalkers get away.

P.S. Found MA does more damage then Spines and BS in SC as long as you pin someone down due to faster recharge rate and animation (only really matters vs brutes though as Ive one hit MMs with MA ).
  3. Since you mentioned PvP it may be worth noting that MoG and TP are the only ways non ranged Regens can get through Force Bubble without backup (Epics probably not doing enough damage).

Risky but it could be your only way to get a force fielder (should be esp useful vs MMs).

    Shockwave in pvp

Just started my Claw/SR stalker hunter and interested in this aswell. For PvP I am thinking of getting Shockwave if focus isnt enough to get through Acrobatics (vs ninja stalkers). If Focus does break through Acrobatics then I think only use for Shockwave is vs MMs and even there the best way is just to kill the MM quickly.

Spaming Focus, Evicerate and the odd Follow Up should be more then enough I think for PvP. Infact if you get Follow Up stacked its probably the best damage a Scrapper can do.... in SC at least .
  5. Only if you get close in PvP.

  6. Would stick to 2acc,2hold and 2recharge on blind tbh as a third recharge makes about 0.5 of a second in recharge, (even less with hasten and AM on). Even if this really makes much of a difference you will most likely not use it in that 0.5 of a second as there will be other things youll be doing.

2nd hold on the other hand increases duration by over 5seconds which is both useful for stacking and keeping multiple holds on your target and also if your opponent/s have run out of BFs.

    IMO .
  7. Mind/Kin. Scrapper can turn off all SR toggles as all the mobs will be mezzed and waste everything with kin damage and speed buff .
  8. Recently leveled a Spines/Regen and MA/Regen through the 20s and found the opposite tbh.

With 6 slotted reconstruction and dull pain you shouldnt have too much trouble I would have thought. Vs +3 bosses you may need to do your damage, heal and run about a bit. Otherwise I seem to be lasting longer then some tanks at the late 20s, no resilience or tough, though both would be nice .

Think the trick to staying alive for regen is often knowing when to leg it back to the door.

Then again scrappers are ment to kill, not stay alive .

P.S. QR is in a way good damage mitigation IMO as it helps you kill faster and unlike Invuln your not as much in trouble if you run out of end .
  9. [ QUOTE ]
the problem with comparing 2 different set though is that it's not as simple as how much damage does an attack do. the devs have talked about maintaining a balance between damage, recharge time, activation time and end usage. ergo one attack may be available more often than the other and so the simple value of damage per attack is misleading.

additionally i believe that lots of things have energy res whereas few have psi in the higher levels, so this may also skew the results so a psi defender doesn't inflict huge amounts of damage compared to a highly resisted energy based blast or assault rifle with their s/l damage only etc.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As I say only figures really. One thing though is that psi blasts seem to cost very little end.

    TB = 5 second recharge, 38 psi/sm damage, range 100yards, act ~1sec, knockback
WD = 8 second recharge, 45 psi damage, range 100yards, act ~1sec, sleep
CB = 7 second recharge, 36 nrg damage, range 80yards, act ~2secs, end drain
LB = 12 second recharge,59 nrg damage, range 80yards, act ~2secs, end drain

This is with hasten at level 26 and I found it interesting, thats all really.

I guess act times, range, recharge rate and secondary effects do make up for psi set doing psi damage .

Thaw adds slow protection! Do you have any ideas how awesome that is?

    [/ QUOTE ]

IMO, not awesome enough to make up for the loss of fear and confuse res, and perception.

I'd love to know how good the slow res is. I know when doing some Tsoo missions it seemed pretty much useless at helping Syn's brute, who'd had his speed siphoned. Thankfully, we had a kin to SB him, which did help.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Then your saying sonic is the only way to go?

Or you could have a */Dark brute, */Nin stalker and */Dark MM to combat many of these points and thermal for forge on players and pets .

Think one problem with villains is that apart from stalkers they have little in the way of burst damage. Most hero kills are done by blasters and scrappers.

For villains is it Stalkers and MMs? If I remember rightly Brute base damage is less then tanks so they need buffs like forge to really get to work until they get up some fury. Corrupters and Doms cannot even begin to compare to Blasters and Scrappers for burst damage.

Dont just win through huge damage figures, but it does help alot IMO.

    [/ QUOTE ]

brutes can do a lot of damage with the right build, i'd say stalkers and brutes are the main dmg dealers with MMs, doms and corruptors baccking them up on attacks where possible

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yup thats very true but so can buffed up EM tanks .

I mean, Tank,Scrapper and Blaster vs Brute,Stalker and MM, I know who I would put my money on, esp if people are moveing around quickly and limiting the use of AS.

More I think of it kin would maybe be best pentad corruptor but it leaves holes. Heroes really get alot from having 2 buff ATs while personally I think MMs are more debuff on the whole and therefore less useful vs a mobile team in PVP.

When you look at 41+ powers I think the gap widens even more as pet damage can be avoided more easily .
  11. This is an interesting point, what insps people bring into an arena. Insps are a strong part of tactics. If I have a healing char I tend to go for BFs and a few lucks just incase the action gets heavy.

I know there are many theories about insps in the US, and no doubt here, clearly if you are up against certain opponents, e.g. end drainers, you also need to work round that aswell.

Maybe another unbalance is that villains are more jack of all trades rather then kings of any so insp choice has to me more varied in order to buff up what is already there rather then plugging holes. Not only do villains not have the Blasters and Scrappers but MMs,Doms and Corruptors in support dont seem anywhere as good as Troller and Defender.

I dont know what other people go for in arenas and it would be interesting to know and see if there is a difference between heroes and villain. Ive hardly ever set foot in the arena, esp for teamed arena, with reds, but maybe that is a mistake.

IMHO teams with each member with a specialised role (heroes) will tend to beat teams with members who are more versitile solo (villains). Since this is almost unchangable through gameplay but rests more in game dynamics heroes will probably always have the advantage, unless ofcourse people come up with a completely new and workable playstyle.

Just out of interest though, why would anyone attack a brute if there is a corrupter nearby to kill first?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    why wouldn't you?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why wouldnt I? Well why attack a shielded AT being healed over a non shielded AT with less health doing the healing?

A blaster could probably still do it easily but still dont see, unless your taunted, why you would go for brute 1st tbh.

Edit: Not trying to be funny, really like to know incase I should be .
  14. Just out of interest though, why would anyone attack a brute if there is a corrupter nearby to kill first?

Unless taunted i guess but there are ways round that now.
  15. Think its more along the same lines as there are so many tankers who go for the largest looking char they can make and so really dont want not to be seen .

    [ QUOTE ]
I found when I had group invis that it's not too difficult to just give out a call to gather for group invis, and warn people at the beginning of the mission to move away a bit if they don't want it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thing is when your team is dropping +3s in a few seconds nobody can really be bothered gathering around for something that adds nothing much to the team at all. I guess in bad teams it may stop unwanted aggro but apart from that dont see much use in it and its a waste of end PvE .
  16. [ QUOTE ]
I'll give clues eheh don't wanna give game away straight away, I'd also like it noted that i've never taken advantage of this in PvP

What's better than having one of something?

    There that's a huge clue

    [/ QUOTE ]

    AH .......

    I think....

    P.S. Prob too much of a clue m8 .
  17. Lol, did this a few weeks back when teaming with guys from my SG.

Got something to do with past reductions in taunt, or something, never played a tank though so maybe one can go through the numbers .

P.S. Ended up not using it at all as it helps so little and its almost impossible to time it without hitting the tank. Last time I try to make it look as if Im doing anything .

It cannot be avoided per se, but its not like any travel power suppression is terribly restricting either. If youre having a sniping contest here then the first sniper can drop behind some obstacles to break LoS and avoid return fire.. Thats taking advantage of your surroundings.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes Flight suppresion can be totally avoided, I ain't making this up lol, i've told Botty my method, he can confirm.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Can you now.. only thing that crosses my mind is the bug that was present right after I4 and when suppression was introduced.. Which I pointed out and it was fixed.. I know its not in there for heroes, but villains..? Do you confirm this then, 'botty'?

    [/ QUOTE ]

We arnt just talking SB then?
  19. LR is far too good to miss for PvP.
  20. Leveling my trollers I had two fire blaster friends and a spines scrapper.

Control and damage are fantastic together so I would probably go */Emp, */Rad or */Kin troller meself.

Scrappers tend to love Kin set .
  21. Gorgog

    Query

    All could be good.

Rad is a nice set for soloing and sonic can do some good damage, (for defender).

Devices + tactics + IR goggles in SC will let you see stalkers.

Fire blaster does good damage and chilling embrace will prevent assasin strike.

Claws probably isnt the best scrapper set but due to get buffed and the ranged attack will help. Dark with tactics and goggles can also see stalkers and has fear protection which can be very handy.

I would say defender would be the most challenging and scrapper the easiest, though alot comes down to how you like to play tbh.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
seems to me that that person in BB going on about stealth/per actualy knew what she was talking about.
wasn't really a need to go on about it on the forums was there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I didnt detail anything but since you brought it up I said a scrapper running tactics and FA can see a stalker with only hide and stealth and no invis.

She said hide and stealth alone would be enough. After going through the figures she then decided to add in grant invis, which was just agreeing with my 1st statement anyway.

End of the day my post had nothing to do with her figures on stealth vs perc but the fact that she called another player an [Censored]. She had no reason at all for doing this and it was grounds for her to be petitioned.

THAT was what my post on Defiant PvP was about not her and her teams lack of knowledge or skill.

Since you were there though can you give one good reason why someone should start swearing and insulting other players when all another player says over broadcast is "lol, gg" after getting killed and "nn, thanks for the fun" before he is going to log off?

P.S. Another interesting thing is that said stalker mentioned that it was she who has given links on euro forum regarding stealth and perc..... she was Ninja Blade/Ninjitsu if memory serves me right.
  23. Gorgog

    Fair play?

Yup I agree. Getting away from a large team of villains is one of the most fun things in PvP for me, esp using a squishy.

Its just that some people have an actual real dislike of getting killed which i dont understand.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
As for Force bubble being the end all of powers in PvP. Stone takers can walk through force bubble, invul tankers that hit unstoppable will walk through force bubble, any regen scrapper that has popped MoG will walk right through your force bubble, this inclues regen stalkers. Since you can't use Force bubble and PFF if you use force bubble the regen stalker can march through it and AS you. In the early dyas of base raids Force bubble was great cause no one expected it and the small halls of the base made it a total wall people couldn't get around but there are so many ways into it people just realized them and made the bubbler the BIG TARGET early in the raid. Trust me, comming from a level 50 bubbler that used to love it after you [censored] someone off with force bubble once they will find the ways through it and kill you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

May be of interest but pls dont kill me if its wrong .
  25. Gorgog
