I, and others, have animated avatars. You should be able to have one as well. What are your desired image's dimensions, file size, and format?

Our version is called "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter!". Yeah, I know -- doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, does it? But hey, for a long while, we had Fabio as the spokesmodel. And if anybody knows about mass-produced, artificial, butter-substitutes, it's Fabio!
Oh wait ... *ahem* I SAY, OLD BEAN! RIGHT! PIP-PIP!
*Waits for Athy to take his cleverly-devised bait so he too can get a poke* -
Quote:If memory serves (been a while since I was an admin), the Quick Reply settings can be changed so that it's globally enabled by default. If that's the case, hopefully it'll be done.I dislike that I have to click on someone's post before I can write a Quick Reply. Doesn't seem to be that quick if I have to click reply first anyway...
Quote:It'd be nice to have an option to expand the "English" section by default.

Quote:I dislike that there's no "Preview" option when posting. -
The gray border (actually a gray box underneath your avatar), shouldn't be there at all. The admins still have a little tweaking to do. And it's only partial when using the hero skin; it's a full border with the villain skin. Still shouldn't be showing up at all, though.

Quote:It sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks. Now we can rep each other just like we used to have the Star system on the old board. (Back before they removed the ability to star people) -- I think it was Statesman that changed it cause he got a massive one star rating? Regardless, its back again. I had thought they stopped it cause of "Star me" threads.
I'll be turning mine off, and I sincerely hope the admins disable it altogether. The quality of a poster should be measured by what they post, no by little red or green dots that can be added or taken away with one click for any reason whatsoever. -
Coming off of my above post ...
SUGGESTIONS
- Install either a [hide] or a [spoiler] code. It'll come in handy not just for hiding spoilers, but for hiding images should we keep the ability to post them within threads.
- Force all posted images to automatically resize to a manageable, clickable, thumbnail if they're beyond a certain size.
- Look into importing the gremlins/smilies/emoticons from the old board. The default vBulletin smilies have always looked horrid. Or make a new, custom set for the forum. One of the two.

Quote:Oh, fer cryin' out loud, PK ...Yes, that WOULD be nice.... IF people used it. I'm afraid instead we'll have the "Nanny Squad" that will come by to say that all images should be BANNED PRONTO because THEY don't want to use the image blocker.... or they don't want their under 18 kid to read the forums and see nastiness because THEY didn't use the image blocker.
I know this because it has happened over and over and OVER in the past. People would rather have SOMEONE ELSE do the work for them rather than let them resolve the problem for themselves.
I swear, I'm surrounded by...... ummm... very nice people.
You do realize that there are reasons for not wanting image signatures other than OMG TEH BOOBZ~!, right? Namely, because they tend to add onto loading time, take up space, and serve no purpose other than a "LOOK AT ME" sign -- as I stated in a previous post in this thread. Same thing goes for images within actual posts, although this can be worked around fairly easily by either giving users the ability to use a [hide] or [spoiler] code, or forcing all posted images to automatically be resized to a smaller scale until clicked on. And yes, there is an option to disable images and signatures in posts. In the case of signatures, however, you'll also be disabling signatures which may have useful links or pieces of information in them.
So don't get all "NANNY SQUAD WON'T LET US DO ANYTHING!" when there are actual, logical, valid reasons for asking that certain features either be disabled or strictly limited. -
Quote:First off, you don't really need to add "QR" to non-user-specific replies anymore, because this board's quote system automatically adds the name of the person you're quoting to the quote box, as well as a link to the specif post you're quoting. It'll be a hard habit for some folks to break, but it can be done.QR
'Ow come some people's avatars (including mine) look a little fuzzy? Dint 'ave zat problem on zee other board.
(By the way, welkommen to the Euro playaz.)
As for the avatar fuzziness: Is you're avatar pic still 80X80? There may be some automatic upscaling going on. If it's 100x100 ... well, I dunno. -

much better - best of both worlds hehe
*i am also joking, dont flame/rad blast me please, tis painful
What? It's just a piece of cloth.
Besides, the spraypaint makes it burn really well. And y'know, there's the whole "As your doctor, I assure you that huffing spraypaint is dangerous!" thing. Psh ... doctors. What do they know? Maybe I liked seeing the purple gnomes -- at least they didn't judge me!
Wait, what? -
By default? Not currently. The admins can make it the default view, and probably will once they see the general clamoring for that option. In the meantime, you can bookmark the forums with this URL: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/forumdisplay.php?f=547
Also, when inside the forums, clicking on the "English" link at the top of the forum will take you to the expanded subforums. -
Quote:Oh, okay ... your problem isn't with the forums themselves, but the fact that you have to share them with us Americans (and Canadians, and whoever else uses the North American forums). Gotcha. Unfortunately, bigotry is not a technical issue, so I doubt you'll get a solution in this forum.no ppl talking smart all of a sudden, we had our own corner and barely any fights or rude ppl.
i only look at the US posts and part 2 fails here.
Why don't you try posting this in the PvP forum instead? They might be able to help you. -
Subjective Feedback:
As someone who's moderated and administrated for some big vBulletin forums in the past, I must seriously question the decision to leave the following features activated:
- Images in posts
- Images in signatures
- Reputation points
Images in signatures are also nothing more than big ol' "LOOK AT ME!" signs, and are entirely extraneous. If you do plan on allowing them, however, I suggest a staunch limit on both dimensions and image size, so as to avoid people posting banners with large animated bits in them.
Reputation points ... well, they're just evil. Quality of posts and the contributions a user makes to the community should be the measure of their reputation, not little green or red dots that can be added or taken away for any reason whatsoever with a single click. If nothing else, I beg that the Rep system is disabled! Do you remember what happened on the old boards when we could rate users? Do you? -
Operating System: Vista Home Premium SP2 32-bit
Browser: Mozilla Firefox 3.5.1/ Internet Explorer 7
Forum: All
Bug Description:
When using the villain Skin, all user avatars have a gray border around them. When using the hero skin, the border isn't as wide, so it looks like gray lines running partially across the top and/or bottom of avatars. I have a feeling those borders (in actuality, gray boxes which appear behind avatars) shouldn't be there at all. -
A horrible, horrible thing that should be deactivated by the admins as soon as possible.
-
Because as forum software goes, UBBThreads (what we used to be on) sucks. vBulletin, the software we've changed to, is more customizable for both users and admins, easier to navigate (generally speaking), and is all-around better software. Right now, there are undoubtedly more kinks to be worked out of this new forum before it's up and running at 100%.

Eh ...
Emoticons are a low-priority thing when setting up a new board. I'm sure we'll get decent smilies before too long.
Y'know, at least I hope we will ... -
