Actually, I say "y'all" all the time (I'm a South Carolinian, originally); it's just much more prevalent in my speech than in my writing.

And really, is it that big of a deal that we spell or pronounce things differently? Or are some people just looking for ways to keep these forums "Us vs. Them"? -
Quote:Geez, P_P ... tell us how you really feel.Champions Online sucks, the only good thing about it is the costume creator. Why would any RPer want to go there? There are NO RP elements to the entire game. Its go go go All the time.
I am sick of your HYPERBOLE, that game was thrown together in 1 year because they needed a PRODUCT to sell after Marvel Left them HIGH and DRY. So they bought the CHEAPEST IP they could get in a SHORT amount of time, and just smashed all the crap they had for the marvel game into this new champions game... The entire game is rushed, it wasnt well thought out. So give me a Damn break when you talk about how awesome that game is. RPers will be BORED in 20 days with that game, so just shut the Heck up. -

Quote:Exactly.wasn't going to be canceling CoX anytime soon, though it's good to see them offering the 12 month subscription with the bonus months again. didn't have the cash the first time around, but i should be able to scrape it together before the end of the month. would be nice to get into closed beta, but it's the beta, i don't see where all the complaining about not getting into when it first gets going is coming from.
If the GR closed beta is going to be run like a real closed beta, as I suspect it will, the first group of testers will be looking at huge chunks of content not being there, big bugs out the wazoo, and maybe even limited, scheduled, playtimes. As a 60+ month vet, I'm not looking toward the GR closed beta and saying "Oh goody goody gumdrops, this will be great!"; I'm looking toward the GR closed beta and saying "There's gonna be a lot of work for me to do." -
Quote:Yet another reason to come out of retirement and make new trailers. You'd be the Green Rep Goddess.... I doubt I'll ever post anything of meaning that will inspire folks to go, "She's brilliant, add to her rep," or "She's an *****, detract from it." I will hover on the fine line of mediocrity.

I've been thinking about it, and I'm now sad that the color palette for Earth Armor customization is going to be muted earth tones. "The Big Rock Candy Golem" demands the use of bright, light blue!
Hmm ... if they're Ice Armor, though, they should still be good to go! -
Quote:Do you know me? No? Then how about you refrain from doing stupid stuff like calling me an "elite 'play the game my way'" type of person, hmm? I have no problem with people using the MA. As long as they're not using exploits, they can level as fast as they want to. But I have come across people who honestly don't know that there's more to this game than just Atlas Park, and I have heard people say that that there's nothing to do in the game, after they've gone from 1 to 50 in a week or so - and I'm being very generous there - courtesy of exploits present in the MA. People who are bored with a game usually quit playing that game. Yes, user numbers are up currently, but what will the numbers look like over time? Will we keep those people who do nothing but run MA farms and get board after a week or two? I thought that the devs might have the foresight to not include the MA in double xp weekend, and gave a reason why I thought they might. No elitism from me.The elite 'play the game my way' folks are really never going to just shut up, I know, but I cannot help but reply to it now and again.
So, in the future, before you make another smug little comment like the one above, why don't you just think about it, then just keep your mouth shut? -
For one, only enabling double xp outside of the AE would possibly be an enticing enough carrot to get some people out of there and experience some of the game's other content, thereby showing them that there's more to it than just one building in Atlas Park. Upon realizing this, maybe they'd no longer find themselves bored and would stay around longer, increasing the subscription numbers in a meaningful way, as well as extending the long-term revenue generated by the game.
Lots of hypotheticals, yes. But it's better than turning the AE into a double-speed PLing machine for three days, churning out new players who leave after a few weeks because they think that's all there is to the game. -
Considering that any of those actually can apply to one of your typical posts, I gotta say that this is indeed quite helpful. Thanks PK!
(Funny stuff, man)

It's far too late for me to go through this entire post, but I will address one point:
Quote:
Lag- What has happened? Everytime I log in here recently it's the same story... 1-2 minutes at the primary entrance loading screen. Then, if I'm lucky, I'm on and good for a while. If I'm not... getting more than 15 minutes of play time is awesome.
"It's your computer..." Nope. Comps runnin at Above Recomended requirments.
"It's your time of day playing..." Maybe, but at 3am central... I doubt it.
My answer to it... Cryptic has just gotten lazy and hasn't bothered increasing the load capacity of their servers. Hence the "Red Out's" and "Black Outs" on the more popular servers. Got servers with minimal population. Low, or maybe even 0 pop... Simple... Drop those servers and give their bandwidth to 1 of the more populated servers.- Aside from licensing the game engine to Paragon Studios, Cryptic has nothing to do with this game anymore.
- NCSoft has upgraded server capacity ... several times, in fact!
- It may be neither your PC nor the game servers. It could very well be some point between the two that is responsible for your lag. Have you tried running a traceroute? I'm currently connecting to the North American servers from the Eastern coast of England, and I haven't been experiencing any noticeable increases in lag.
- It's double xp weekend right now. The most populous servers (Freedom, Virtue, and Infinity) are likely to be very full. This could cause lag.
- No servers are empty. The devs are not going to merge servers anytime soon. It is not necessary, since the numbers for this game are actually going up (according to The Ocho/Mod8 at Comic-Con).

I applaud the effort being put into this, and I hope you reach your goal.
But don't you feel even the least little bit cheesed that while you're planning all this out, somebody is using the AE to go from 1-50 in a fraction of the time due to double XP applying there as well? -

Quote:2. I also happen to dislike having to click on a "Quick reply" button to be able to use the quick reply, it seems to lead to about the same amount of work as just clicking "reply".
I like short replies :P
It pretty much is the same thing, as far as outcome. The intent of the Quick Reply box was to allow users to post something it they didn't want or need to go into their full text editor. But having the "click to use" feature enabled more or less takes away the point. Once again: hopefully, the admins will disable that feature when they're making further tweaks to board functionality. *wink, wink, nudge, nudge* -

It's not uncommon for players on the North American servers to play both sides to some degree. And besides that, it's a closed beta: they tell you what testing goals they have, you go out and test them. If you're just there to sight-see and play around with new stuff early, you probably shouldn't take part in the closed beta.
-
Quote:And this can be prevented by the admins either installing a [spoiler] code so that you don't have to load the pic unless you want to see it, or by forcing all images beyond certain dimensions to automatically scale down into a thumbnail version which expands to full size when clicked upon. Easy peasy.I figured out a lot of this after a couple of hours of poking around so yes I now know about jumping to the first new post now and finding out that the full editor has a preview.
As for the blocking of images from devs and the like, right now that's a small price to pay to blot out sig images. Just waiting for the first 1920x1200 screenshot to be posted in the Tech section to show the poster's netgraph. -
Except for the fact that if you keep your account active from August to November, you still get to be in on the GR closed beta. What's more, you get to be in on it when it's hopefully not as broken and incomplete as it will be when the 60+ vets get to see it.

Quote:I actually addressed someone else who brought this point up, so neener!You're... missing the point.
What I mean is, on the old forums, the Quick Reply box was "always on" and you could just type want you wanted, hit send and that was it... now you have to click a "quick reply" button to reply to a specific user, rather than to the thread in general...
The net result is identical, except we now have to click a button, when before we didn't. I'm just saying it feels a bit redundant.
Yeah, Quick Reply can be set to not require the click. The only possible downside is that it might make the Threaded and Hybrid board modes a little screwy. But this day and age, why bother with those two modes anyways?
With any luck, it'll be among the many little tweaks, fixes, and additions that still need to be made to the board. -
Quote:The Quick Reply box is just a feature of vBulletin. Since we're used to having to type (QR) thanks to UbbThreads' limited functionality, the Quick Reply box is kinda redundant. Since the quote system on this board inserts the name of the user you're quoting into the quote, the "New Reply" button pretty much serves the same purpose as the Quick Reply box.A couple of things. Do we really need to click a "Quick Reply" button to quick reply?
Additionally, the Quick Reply box isn't automatically spell checked by Firefox, gotta turn it on manually. Any way to fix this?
Edit: Oh and the "go to the first new post" button only seems to work if it wants to
