*reads write-up on the Clockwork page*
You have no idea how much you've just helped me with my main character's post-GR bio. -
Or you could have posted it in the ATI thread, where all the other posts about this are located.
-
EDIT: Nevermind. While turning on both FSAA and AO on does result in a loss of smoothness from just having FSAA enabled, I can see that it's actually a very minor loss and not universal. I was just used to running around at 8x FSAA and having things VERY smooth, so the loss at first appeared much more significant to me.

As someone who's been here from the start yet just a few days ago decided to build his own personal base, I find this announcement delightful!
-
I'll also add that the game's upcoming 19th free major content update ("Issue 19" in the local nomenclature) is supposed to be adding a new end-game system for level 50 characters; this system may be raid-oriented. Issue 19 should either be coming toward the end of the year or early next year. We'll probably learn more about it once Going Rogue, the first paid expansion since City of Villains, launches on August 17th.

This thread is bad and we should all feel bad for posting in it.

Positron didn't feel that whatever the Alpha Slot does was good enough for the players. They're not taking away your shiny new toy to be mean; they're taking it away to make it better. And really, since only the first of ten "Incarnate Levels" was initially stated as being included with Going Rogue, it's not like we're losing that much. I mean, would you rather them just completely do away with any sort of preview for the Incarnate system and just wait until Issue 19 to unveil everything? I personally wouldn't. And if there's still a chance of getting a little taste of the system early, albeit later than originally advertised, I have no problem with this.
-
Remember, it was originally said that the first of ten "Incarnate Levels" would be included in Going Rogue as a preview for the rest of the system in Issue 19. Not that we'd be getting the entire Incarnate system in Going Rogue. If Issue 19 rolls around and there's still no Incarnate system, then it's a big deal. As it stands, all that's happening is that 1/10th of the system is being moved from Going Rogue to some date in the future because the devs didn't think it was good enough for us. Hardly worth getting too up in arms over.

Color me disappoionted; I was looking forward to a sneak peak of the Issue 19 stuff.
But thanks for letting us know out here in the open forums in advance about the change. As someone who'd beta tested a lot of games, I know that sometimes big, hyped things get pulled for various reasons; I'm relieved that in this case, it's because you're not satisfied with whatever the Alpha slot currently does and not because the whole system can't be made to work or something.
Quote:I'm guessing your post was C&P from something in the beta forum, and that inclusion of the above bit just wasn't removed before making this post. Because, you know, it does kinda go against rules 1 and 2 of closed beta. That’s not to say you can’t continue to discuss what you have seen in the beta. I encourage the dialogs that you guys have started to continue, and we will continue to read your thoughts and feedback. -
Figures that the art lead/professional comic book artist would get the coolest-looking new character.

Good to have ya!
And don't worry; in a week or so, you won't even know the RFID chip they implanted in your skull is there. -
Another lost costume piece from the CoV beta was a face option called either "wrapped" or "bandaged". It was a face/head that was completely wrapped in bandages except for the eyes. I'm not sure why access to it was removed.
-
With all due respect to you, my fellow posters: the game isn't coming out until August 17th; it would be foolish to give out all the information at once. As a matter of fact, it would be foolish to give out all the information regardless of the circumstances.

3 quick things about the servers:
1) The colored dots indicate server load, not number of people online. A server with 3 bright red dots is close to imploding. However, the two are not completely unrelated. so servers like Freedom or Virtue, which usually show the highest server loads, are typically the most populated.
2) Many of the servers have unofficial roles. Freedom has recently become the unofficial PvP server, due to an already large playerbase being added to by a mass PvPer migration at the beginning of the year during a free server transfer period. Virtue is the unofficial RP server for obvious reasons. You'll do do well to find a server that best suits your playstyle and go with it.
3) Regardless of the server you decide to call home, you would do well to join that server's important global chat channels. Most mission teams, Task Forces, and raids are formed via the channels. -
When reading Venture's lament, I'm reminded of the Hodgson Mantra: "It's just a show; I should really just relax."

Quote:*Looks at the AMD page*Couple more interesting tidbits:
With less than two months until the launch of City of Heroes Going Rogue, many of our partners are working to promote Going Rogue.
If you visit the AMD Games site at game.amd.com, you may see some familiar faces. Or check out Razer Zone, where Going Rogue is now one of the featured games
And yet, those of us using ATI 5xxx series cards still can't use FSAA and AO at the same time.

Stated twice in the above linked post that it will be available in July.
In any event, August will give them more time to polish. -
To my knowledge, July was NEVER given as any sort of official release. At HeroCon, it was stated that the target release time would be during the 2nd quarter of this year. July came about due to player speculation and websites like Amazon assigning arbitrary release dates to some products.
